It's that me and my son
I'm...of two minds about this (Lex Luthor? Call me Harvey Dent). I'm all for the shock factor of completely different portrayals of characters, but Jesse just doesn't fit the bill. Unless they turn Lex into something akin to the Mandarin from Iron Man 3 or Hammer from Iron Man 2, I just don't feel threatened by him. I'll give him this: he does look like a young Lex to me (even has the right hair for it, even though it's the wrong color). But that's just it: young Lex. Ironically, he's the same age as Henry Cavill, just a couple of months younger. I don't know, I'm a fan of Eisenberg. We've already seen him play the dick and the businessman and the survivor several times. But...he just doesn't have the bravado for Lex in my eyes. The way he speaks, the way he stands, it's...not Lexish. I hope they don't show him as solely an ass. I think Zuckerber-erm, Eisenberg will do great if they break Luthor down to the level that he was portrayed as in Luthor (seriously, go read it. Make a comixology account and buy the five issues right now to read on your screen). Something a bit more...evil than Smallville's version, but still a hero in his own eyes. EDIT: Here's a good picture of Jesse where I can see Lex's facial features in him. http://i.huffpost.com/gen/1160450/thumbs/o-JESSE-EISENBERG-INTERVIEW-facebook.jpg And here's a speech from Lex Luthor: Man of Steel issue 5 that I can see Eisenberg pulling off with his own arrogance (though edited for his own speech patterns with things like "well, then...then") Spoiler I see your eyes. I know of all your remarkable "visions," but let me tell you what you can't see: my soul. And there's not a soul in Metropolis who watched Hope drop that monster, and given the same opportunity? Wouldn't have done it themselves. Not a soul. How does that make you feel, you arrogant alien *******? Your silence speaks volumes...you understand my words, but you refuse to believe what they mean. Is that because you see something in humanity that in truth isn't there, or that you're blind to what truly is? Say something, goddamnit! "You're wrong. I can see your soul." No...you can't. Because if you could, you would see a man, who willingly denied himself happiness, who chose to give up hope for the world. A world without a Superman. I know I can't beat you...alone. But then, I'm not alone. There are six and a half billion of me and only one of you. And we can drive you back out to the blackness from which you came. What the world watched you do tonight...if it only chances one mind about what you are... Please, just fly away. 'what gives measure to a man's choices is what he has to give up to make them. I am a man.'
It's not surprising because people have reacted to it. If it wasn't for the Coke ad, this would be the headline. However, this is Cheerio's second interracial ad (first of which came out last...May, I think? And got a **** ton of backlash) and I'm pretty sure it's the same exact family from their first one; so people were probably outraged, but not as surprised as the Coke ad.
To quote myself from Facebook (because I'm too lazy to reword my thoughts for this site): To the people that were outraged at the Coke ad where America the Beautiful was sung in different languages: a) to paraphrase a tweet, this teaches that they are two types of Americans: true Americans and white people that forgot that they're European; b) a historical moment where a same-sex couple is shown in a Superbowl ad for the first time was missed because of this silly outrage (though that'll probably caused more outrage); and c) Yá'át'ééh, e la na tte? On top of that, I think my favorite is the people who are angry about the "national anthem" being sung in other languages...it isn't the national language. The funniest thing about it is that Katharine Lee Bates, the song's original author, was a lesbian and according to wikipedia:
The four cups of coffee I drink daily are the same A dark blend, three packs of raw sugar (formerly splenda) and one pack of regular sugar with half and half creamer. If my mom makes it, usually less creamer (usually french vanilla) and only a teaspoon of sugar.
Then go work at a soup kitchen. This isn't a discussion on what's worse, it's a conversation about Justin Bieber and his charges.
So why are you arguing about how he should be left alone when there's more pressing issues out there? Yes, I agree there are more serious things to talk about out there, but the fact that those things exist has nothing to do with what's being discussed right now. Why do anything at all when there's something more serious to take care of?
You can turn that around and say instead of wasting energy trying to get people off his back, put that energy toward something more useful like people starving. It's a fallacy of diversion to bring up a topic completely unrelated to the one being argued and doesn't help your side of the case any at all.
Could we just enable it in addition to Notable Members like Amaury suggested? It won't change my life if we don't, but I think it's a nice little piece of the site to keep.
You can have ours. I live in Tennessee and this weather is seriously cutting into my paycheck at this point.
You should stop comparing bad things to unrelated worse things simple to make the former seem like the better choice. As long as he keeps getting in trouble, he's not going to be left alone. After all, he's in trouble again: http://www.cnn.com/2014/01/29/showbiz/justin-bieber-toronto-arrest/ Not to mention, a lot of other immigrants have been deported for a lot less than him (though, in his defense, he actually has a visa...although I support his visa being revoked as the reason for his having it does not outweigh how much trouble he's getting himself into). 19 is young and immature, yes, but he's legally an adult. He can face consequences from authority regardless of how he feels about it. Most people at 19 have a basic sense of right and wrong. Ummm, most people are worried about all drunk drivers? I've driven drunk a few times and I've driven under the influence of other things a couple of times. I've since sworn to never do it because of how close I came to doing something extremely horrible once. You don't have to join MADD to oppose drunk driving. However, I'm sure most people would rather not be driving (or even just being) near someone who is driving drunk.
OOC: Sorry I made you wait so long, Krowley! I'm still interested. If this is still going, consider me all in from here on out. Sam walked with purpose down the hallways as the previous day's events replayed in his head. It wasn't his first STRANGE fight, but not the most eventful, either. Granted, he hid behind the bleachers for most of it. It wasn't that he didn't enjoy STRANGE fights, quite the contrary, but with as much trouble as he's gotten in lately, he decided to let Jaggerjack stay 'inside,' and simply avoided jumping into the spotlight. However, something about the STRANGE fight caught his eye. Jaggerjack was curious as to why Lex suddenly became a person of interest to his host, but the fire god realized it soon enough...and agreed with Sam's plan of action. The sand-skinned teen picked up his pace slightly, his expression stern, as he turned down the hall that he was looking for. His red eyes darted to a couple of other A-Classes that were walking in the opposite direction, slightly younger students that he somewhat knew. A simple nod of acknowledgement and a "Yo, what's happening?'' and he stayed his course. Finally, he reached the door that he was looking for. The Advanced student bit his tongue (literally), a habit of his eyes when thinking, and reached into his pocket. He pulled out a small piece of paper with a number scribbled on it and made sure the number matched the one on the door. Confirming that it did, Sam crumbled up the paper and threw it into his mouth, chewing it, but not swallowing it. Seeing as he finally arrived at his destination, Sam moved to the wall across from the door and leaned on it with his arms crossed, waiting for Lex to walk out as he continued to chew the paper.
Come on now, who do you, who do you, who do you, who do you think you are, Ha ha ha bless your soul You really think you're in control Well, I think you're crazy I think you're crazy I think you're crazy Just like me
Mysteries of Grimm piques my interest the most! Power Rangers and Virtual Memory, I feel can be combined into one thing (though I'm biased since I had a Power Rangers RP like that). So my votes, in order of most interest, go as Grimm, Pokemon, and Power Rangers (depending on what the theme for them would be exactly), and Virtual Memory (if not combined into Power Rangers).
Someone might have to clarify this for me because I haven't played DDD and may be wrong, but aren't the golden eyes and pointed ears a sign that Xehanort has started to make someone one of his vessels? I know originally it was thought to be a sign of that person embracing darkness, but I read somewhere that DDD changed it to Xehanort's "vesseling" someone. His ears aren't shown, but Vanitas definitely had the golden eyes.
If they actually go with a legitimate kill to get rid of him, it'd no doubt be some final form of his that doesn't look as human and whose nature will unique allowing his defeat to be permanent.
I always assumed that it's supposed to be a world that represents what the worlds would have been like without magic and the effects of light and darkness (including Heartless and Nobodies, etc.). I.E., a world like ours. Hence, it's a world that never was in the KH universe.
Note: This is an original Role-Play based on the Harry Potter universe. It will take place in an alternate reality where Harry and company never existed. There was no Lord Voldemort *shiver* or Dumbledore or any other canon characters from the series. Except for maybe a few cameo-styled references, no main characters from the series existed (save for historical figures). Because the RP will focus on the Triwizard Tournament and not much has been shown about how the other two wizarding schools (Durmstrang and Beauxbatons) function, I will take some liberty and make up Houses for the two. Also, I may add new elements from other series (Mortal Instruments and Hunger Games are two I'm considering) so you may see a few terms from those series floating about. Click Here for Main Thread Rules: Obvious rules: No godmodding, powerplaying, etc. despite how tempting it may be in this RP. Follow all of KHV's rules, be nice to each other, follow the rest of my rules, etc. Like I said: this is an alternate reality version of the series. Hence, no characters from the actual series aside from historical figures will have existed. References may be made, but do not use any of those characters or try to make a copy of any of them. Some knowledge of the series is obviously required, but you don't have to be a hardcore fan to join. Most things will be explained in the RP. And you can always visit the wiki for help The Tournament will be the main part of the RP, but not the only part. So there actual courses and other events will be shown. This is a Hogwarts RP after all! Students from any year are allowed, but keep in mind the Triwizard Tournament rules (if you're a first year, you obviously can't be in the Tournament). The Champions and Tributes will be selected by those actually enter the Tournament. Obviously, not everyone can be in it. I will select the Champions and Tributes and partner them up out of everyone who shows interest in being one. However, all Role-Players will have a role in the RP so don't worry! Keep in mind your character's year/age and the level of the spells that they know. I will allow you full discretion in what spells you can use, but if I think something's a bit too high level for your character, I will talk to you about it. Hogwarts allows students to bring in a pet owl, cat, or toad. For the sake of the RP, I will allow any student, regardless of school, to have a small pet. Could be owl, cat, toad, or something else, but must be small and easy to take care of. It could also be magical in nature, similar to Crookshanks' half-Kneazle status in the books, but think about whether the school would consider it too dangerous for a student. No creating new spells (without first letting me know) or creatures. I reserve the right to add new rules, but I will let you know if I do. This has led him to being somewhat secluded from others, something he doesn't mind. He's very curious. He considers himself a know-it-all. Biography: Luke was born pure-blood to a Wizarding couple who ran a magical beast reserve. Thus, he learned a lot about fantastic beasts from his parents. He had a habit of sneaking off into the less dangerous animals' habitats, despite his parents strictly forbidding it. However, shortly before he was enrolled into Hogwarts, an experience at the reserve left him traumatized and he has yet to return, though he hasn't told a soul. At 11 years old, the Sorting Hat almost placed him into Slytherin, but Luke was able to smooth-talk the Hat into placing him in Ravenclaw (with the Sorting Hat noting that it seemed appropriate for a smooth talker). Like most other Ravenclaws, he made a name for himself in his classes by showing off his wit. Although not as smart as some his housemates, he takes pride in his colors. Though he has excelled in Defense Against the Dark Arts, Potions seems to be his Achilles' Heel. DADA, Apparition, Alchemy, Transfiguration, Charms, and Potions (to his chagrin) fill his schedule. Will you apply to be a Champion: Yes. Other: He has a pet cat, given to him by his parents, named Bandit who has Kneazle ancestry.

The Triwizard Tournament "Eternal glory! That's what awaits the student who wins The Triwizard Tournament, but to do this, that student must survive four tasks. Four extremely dangerous tasks." In the wizarding world, the Triwizard Tournament is a magical contest between the three wizarding schools of Europe: Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, Durmstrang Institute, and Beauxbatons Academy of Magic. Hosted at one of the three schools every five years, the tournament is extremely dangerous where participants have been known to die while competing. The Triwizard Tournament tests the participants courage, intelligence, magical ability, and resolve. In the past, each school has been represented by a single champion, competing through three tasks for the victory. However, this year there will be many changes, allowing for more participants. Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry will host the tournament, hoping to win the trophy back from Durmstrang. Hopefully, this year's Triwizard Tournament will go smoothly with no deaths, foul play, or Dark Arts....hopefully. Rules of the Tournament The judges will consist of the three Headmasters or Headmistresses of the competing school as well as one other professor from each school, totaling to six judges. As opposed to previous years where the minimum age required to participate was seventeen, anyone fifteen years of age and older can participate. One of two major changes to the tournament: Each chosen Champion will be partnered with an additional volunteer, known as a Tribute. Each Champion's Tribute will be chosen in a similar manner as the Champion, though not through the Goblet of Fire. The Champion and his/her Tribute may or may not be from the same school. In the case of competing schools being in the same team, the Tribute will have a chance to win for his/her own school, but only if the Tribute and Champion make it to the end of the Tournament. Any Tribute suspected of sabotaging his/her partnered Champion for the sake of his/her school will be disqualified immediately, replaced, and lose points for his/her school. The respective Headmaster or Headmistress may also hand out additional repercussions, at their own discretion. If a Tribute is deemed unable to finish the Tournament due to injury or similar situation, the Champion may be assigned a new Tribute by the judges. If a Tribute is disqualified for unsportsmanlike conduct, the Champion may choose a new Tribute himself/herself. The other major change: In place of three tasks, the Triwizard Tournament will be composed of four tasks. The Quidditch season will not be held this year due to the tournament, but the field will still be open for practice and use by all three schools. The House Cup, though normally held in the past during the Tournament, will not be held this year. The Yule Ball, held on Christmas night, is open to those 14 years of age and above. Younger students may attend if invited by an older student. Cheating, in any way, will not be tolerated. Even if it seen as tradition, the judges will not treat any offenses lightly. Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry Never Tickle a Sleeping Dragon Hogwarts, located in Great Britain, is one of the three main wizarding schools in Europe and the host of this year's Triwizard Tournament. The students are enrolled at age 11 and spend seven years studying. Students are divided into four houses, each based on one of the four founders of Hogwarts and their most outstanding quality: Hufflepuff for the loyal symbolized by a badger, Gryffindor for the brave symbolized by a lion, Ravenclaw for the clever symbolized by an eagle, and Slytherin for the ambitious symbolized by a snake. The previous Headmaster has retired two years prior and the new Headmaster, Talfryn Rowling, was given the office after several years teaching Defense Against the Dark Arts. Though his inexperience and young age has been the subject of criticism from colleagues, he has so far been praised by the students for his gentle nature. Less exclusive than Durmstrang and Beuxbatons, Hogwarts is known for its diversity of students and variety of activities. Due to its age (being founded over eleven generations ago) and status as one of the largest wizarding schools in the world, there are many secrets in the school that not even the administration may know about. The school year is a month underway, making it the beginning of October and the other two schools are about to start. Durmstrang Institute Slay the Roaring Dragon Located near the northern border of Norway and Sweden, Durmstrang is known for their acceptance of the Dark Arts and is housed in a castle slightly smaller than Hogwarts. No Muggle-born Wizards are allowed, though the school does not promote hateful propaganda. Although not entirely exclusive to males, Durmstrang has many more male students than female students. The school tends to have a foul reputation due to a former Headmaster being a Dark Wizard and sentenced to Azkaban. Durmstrang is the previous winner of the Triwizard Tournament. Its students are divided into three Classes, similar to Hogwarts' Houses. However, unlike Hogwarts, Durmstrang's Classes are more like a level system. Every student is enrolled as an Elgen, symbolized by a brown moose. Elgens can then test out and enter the Ulven class, symbolized by a gray wolf. The most proficient wizards can then be nominated for the Orn Class and enter it after passing an intensive test. Orns are symbolized by a golden, double-headed eagle. Though a student can graduate in any of the three Classes and advancement is not required, Durmstrang has developed a social stigma where Orns are seen as better than Ulvens, which in term outclass the Elgen. Beauxbatons Academy of Magic If the Dragon Purrs, It is Yours to Tame Beauxbatons is located in southern France. Unlike the other two schools, Beauxbatons does not promote the idea of division and thus does not separate its students into Houses or Classes. However, Beauxbatons seems to be an elite-like school with strict codes of conduct and order. Beauxbatons heavily promotes the idea of the "lady" and "gentleman." There tends to be many more female students than male students in Beauxbatons. Students from this academy are known for having unconventional heritage (Muggle-born, Veela blood, half-Giants, etc.). Beauxbatons, like Durmstrang, is known for handing out much stricter discipline for failure than Hogwarts. Click Here for OOC Thread
I really like your avatar! That's really cool. Anyways, welcome to the site. I may give your sites a look-see if I get a chance, but I hope to see your stuff around here. Not sure if you've noticed, but we do have a Graphics section if you'd like to post some of your work.
