It just seems more and more like the UN is turning into a toothless dog =/ And everyone had such high hopes for it. And the global court. Like that head of state who was wanted for crimes against humanity and he laughed at their arrest warrant. Both the Global Court and the UN need to get their act together and show every country in the world that they are a force to be reckoned with and listened to. Otherwise they might as well pack it in and give up. But if the UN ever disbanded it would be the end of life as we know it :(
Lol I know allll about the League of Nations and how it completely failed. I thought it might be better this time because most (if not all?) countries in the world are represented. What annoys me is that countries like China and America have effective vetoes when it comes to important matters. I'd say that would be why nothing more than sanctions has been done. As for Iran, it is as bad as North Korea. I'd say the best course of action would be for UN peacekeepers to invade both countries and do what they are supposed to do. I.e. keep the peace. Even if it is a bit preemptive. I would certain rather it was brought under control before the nukes start flying.
I don't see other nations blatantly contravening the conventions of the UN and then hiding behind their big important comrades. Please elucidate as to what other governments have done to escalate this.
Still don't get it.
I really don't get this "Naruto" thing. Never watched it =/
I have several as well =D I also own a copy of The Gospel of the Flying Spaghetti Monster. KNEEL BEFORE HIS NOODLY APPENDAGE O:
Especially as we are on the verge of one RIGHT NOW. With North Korea pulling out of the truce with South Korea there may be a military offensive. Although this may be a good thing. The United Nations might actually do something more than use harsh language (i.e. sanctions) against North Korea. They might, you know, remove the regime that is not doing anyone anywhere any good. It feels like the UN is turning into another League of Nations >_>
All I was pointing out was that some of the countries that gained independence from Britain (most of them given it, were they not?) have gone considerably downhill from there. The abolitionist movement started in Europe, so yes it did end slave trade in the United States.
I really was not expecting that from you Jube, I thought it was going to turn into some sick and twisted sexual fantasy :v Especially when I saw the bit about the coffin ;D But it was really sad ._. And it took me ages to work out the Calvin and Hobbes thing, as I never watched it.
Someone's a bit slow on the uptake.
Unless every country in the world can agree to get rid of every nuke, it is something we are going to have to live with. And there is nothing to stop unsavory elements getting their hands on the components and materials needed to make their own.
...........................you poop stain.
You aren't, but that other guy is.
BBC link They say that if it loses the ruling it will become a banned organisation =D It is currently classed as a sect. In Germany it has been declared unconstitutional and is under investigation by their secret services.
That was unexpected.
Anyone who doesn't is a heartless *******.
Makes sense.
Lol I only just noticed that.
I've only seen the film =/ Trying to get the books and all though =D
xD No, that's Tank Girl but she doesn't say cauliflower penis. One of the girls does as an insult to one of the boys. And by boy and girl I mean children =D
