A Gaming PC?

Don't try and upgrade a laptop. It's better to buy a new one.

About gaming copmuters, there are various hardware that can do the job. They can have some differences in price or quality, but that's not gonna give you a headache if you're aware how much you are into gaming.
The most important parts of a gaming computer is the graphics card, the RAM, and the processor. Gaming computers focus more on those parts than the rest. If you're building your own, then be sure to pick up a good mobo that has more capabilities than limitations. In the end you will look into the Hard disk, the PSU, the cooling system, the CD/DVD drive, and the sound card. And if you want to make it a good gaming experience, get a nice screen with a 2.1 sound system and you're good to go.
And don't forget to make it so the parts are compatibible to increase performance rather than them being completely different and causing you trouble.

Not really much I can say though. Now I (we) wait for a way to hack PS3 games, cause as far as I know there isn't a way yet. Cause of the signed junk I assume. Need to jailbreak it too. I'm happy about this, I guess. :B

New test under development could find single cancer cell

Johnson and Johnson will partner with Massachusetts General Hospital to develop and market a blood test that could find a single cancer cell circulating in a person's blood, the company said Monday.

Researchers hope the test will be used by oncologists as a diagnostic tool aimed at discovering as early as possible if a cancer has spread, as well as by researchers in coming up with new drug therapies.

Veridex, a Johnson and Johnson company, announced the partnership in a statement, saying it involves Ortho Biotech Oncology Research and Development, a unit of Johnson and Johnson Pharmaceutical Research and Development.

"This new technology has the potential to facilitate an easy-to-administer, non-invasive blood test that would allow us to count tumor cells, and to characterize the biology of the cells," said Robert McCormack, Veridex's head of technology innovation and strategy. "Harnessing the information contained in these cells in an in vitro clinical setting could enable tools to help select treatment and monitor how patients are responding."

Veridex launched the first commercial test using CTC, or circulating tumor cell technology, in 2004, the company said. It describes circulating tumor cells as cancer cells that have detached from a tumor and are found at very low levels in the bloodstream. Capturing and counting the number of those cells can provide information to patients and doctors about prognoses with certain types of metastatic cancers, the statement said.

"The value of capturing and counting CTCs is evolving as more research data is gathered about the utility of these markers in monitoring disease progression and potentially guiding personalized cancer therapy," the Veridex statement said.

"The challenging goal of sorting extremely rare circulating tumor cells from blood requires continuous technological, biological and clinical innovation to fully explore the utility of these precious cells in clinical oncology," said Mehmet Toner, director of the BioMicroElectroMechanical Systems Resource Center in Massachusetts General's Center for Engineering in Medicine. "We have developed and continue to develop a broad range of technologies that are evolving what we know about cancer and cancer care."

Search for clues is on after birds fall from sky in Arkansas

Dead red-winged blackbirds, starlings, and grackles rained down on Beebe, Ark., on New Year's Eve, freaking out local residents. After 3,000 birds fall from sky, state biologists look for answers.

The lead detective in the case of the raining birds loaded her car with boxes of the dead creatures on Monday, taking them for shipment to a national laboratory in the hope that tests would reveal why thousands of birds suddenly fell from the sky upon the small town of Beebe, Ark.

In the middle of the New Year revelry, as many as 3,000 red-winged blackbirds, common grackles, and European starlings â€“ which often flock together in winter â€“ rained out of the skies, a seemingly Hitchcock-esque phenomenon that scared local residents and prompted concerns about a possible toxic event.

"This was very traumatic for a lot of people. It was very scary," says Arkansas state ornithologist Karen Rowe, talking via cellphone while on her way to ship the birds' bodies to an ornithology lab at the University of Wisconson-Madison. "There were a lot of people who ... witnessed the birds falling from the sky, and since it was New Year's Eve night, it lent some questions to whether there was foul play."

Early tests on the birds showed no toxic gases trapped in their feathers, though biologists found some physical trauma indicative of being hit by hail or lightning. Still, a bird die-off of this magnitude is unusual. Among the possible explanations: People shooting off fireworks in the area flushed a large roost of birds out of treetops, causing them to fly into either a hail storm or a lightning strike.

Beebe's blackbird population is large enough so that the US Department of Agriculture has in the past attempted large-scale scarecrow techniques to move large flocks out of the area. Outnumbered and outmaneuvered, the USDA gave up those efforts a few years ago.

In 1973, several hundred ducks dropped from the sky near Stuttgart, Ark., known as "The Duck Capital of the World," victims of a sudden storm. In another case, biologists found hundreds of what Ms. Rowe calls "perfectly good," but dead, pelicans in the middle of the woods. While the pelicans showed no outward signs of injury or singe marks, necropsies showed they'd been hit by lightning.

The Arkansas bird mystery seemed especially freaky because it happened all at once and on a night when large numbers of people were outside watching fireworks or traveling home from New Year's Eve parties. Dead birds littered roads, front yards, and rooftops.

Not all of Beebe's residents were alarmed. "Every house cat in Beebe had a New Year's present of delicious blackbird," says Rowe.

Biologists estimate that between 1,000 and 3,000 birds fell over Beebe on New Year's.

Adding to the mystery is an apparent fish kill 125 miles away in the same state. A day before the bird die-off, a tugboat operator near Ozark, Ark., spotted thousands of dead drum fish floating in the Arkansas River. Biologists say the two events are probably not related and suggest that the fish kill â€“ a much more common event than a bird rain â€“ is likely linked to a disease that affected only one species.

Life in Beebe began to resume a sense of normalcy by the end of the weekend, Rowe says.

"The good thing was that it was a single event, it didn't occur again, and once all the birds were cleaned up and nothing else was wrong, most people were comforted," she says.

Arkansas on Saturday morning dispatched its state environmental control crews and a helicopter to survey the damage and to surface test the birds for toxic gases. They found none. If the birds had been poisioned, biologists say, it's more likely that they would have died around their roosts rather than in a single raining event.

What's more, red-winged blackbirds are short-lived birds, so it is not unusual for dozens to die during a single night, falling from their roosting trees. In such cases, scavengers quickly dispose of the dead birds, leaving few traces.

"If there's any real hope of the mystery being solved, it's contained within the bodies of the birds," says Rowe. "There is a potential that [labs] might not find what happened, which is a reminder that mother nature has a way of letting us know who's in charge, by giving us these little mysteries."

So till a latitude of 50degree south (- 50), the radiant point would be visible at least for part of the night.

The radiant is situated
5h 28m - (-5 h)= 10h 28m
before Sun. It rises at about 7:32 PM and reaches culmination by 1:32 AM.
That is the best chance for Australians to look 'due north' when 'Bootes' appears near horizon. Obviously those in York peninsula (39 degrees above horizon to the north) or Arnheim peninsula (37 d.) to a lesser degree have best view compared to those in Melbourne (12 d.)
