Every dress I buy is 40s or 50s style, it's a bit ridiculous but they're my favorite

I'm awful at paying attention to my HP in video games and I had no problems with MP when I played conjuror. Granted I didn't get very far with it (I got up to level 15 and then learned it was no longer a requirement for bards), but I agree with Mixt. If anything, there are ethers readily available.

I have a great appreciation for YA lit and I'm trying to get more into it ). I think it's so interesting to observe the trends and stylistic qualities of YA lit. I took on The Hunger Games trilogy a few months ago for this reason (plus Katniss was brought up in a lot of feminist media circles). Part of the barrier for me, though, is that I favor 19th century literature, which is told primarily in the third person. Most YA novels seem to be first person which is a turn off for me... but it's also fascinating to look into why they're primarily first person.

As for bagginess... it's a weird balance. I like some of my tee shirts to have a bit of give to them, but they're also not hanging off my body. Part of it is out of comfort and another part is just that I order tee shirts offline a lot and it's difficult to determine what size to buy, so I usually just order medium & am too lazy to exchange it heh.

I've gotten into the habit of posting, then immediately thinking up something more to add a minute or two later, so I edit it in hoping no one will notice lol

Yeah I haven't written off the film on that basis nor am I judging it solely on what I've heard, that'd just be silly. It did turn me off a little from the film but I also wasn't terribly inclined to see it in the first place. That said, I can still enjoy movies with manic pixie dream girl elements even if they do bother me a little -- an excellent example would be Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind. It's one of my favorite movies and they do, in one scene, address the issue ("Look man, I'm telling you right off the bat, I'm high-maintainance, so... I'm not gonna tip-toe around your marriage, or whatever it is you've got goin' there. If you wanna be with me, you're with me... Too many guys think I'm a concept, or I complete them, or I'm gonna make them alive. But I'm just a ****ed-up girl who's lookin' for my own peace of mind; don't assign me yours"), but it's definitely still present and I acknowledge that. Still love the film.

It's not shallow at all to have preferences of dress on people, personally I find baggy clothes quite unattractive on men, that's just a part of being human. We can happily and acceptably act on these preferences in that I may not pursue guys not dressed to my tastes, just as some people find certain races more attractive than others. It's not to say we would never pursue people not dressed in the way we prefer, just that we're less likely to (at least initially). There's a lot that goes into creating those preferences (like for the example of race, if you've been raised in a racist household you're going to be less inclined to a preference of black people, though of course many break away from that, it's not the only factor).

Of course, if we're dictating that people must dress a certain way, then that's a problem. Happily that's changed a lot in the last century; before the world wars it was unheard of for a woman to wear pants (it was really WWII and the social movements of the 1960s that killed it), but now it's a commonly accepted phenomena.
I'm trying to get more comfortable wearing dresses and such, I find them so cute and I buy them all the time but I rarely wear them. It's just an adjustment process though, things like sitting or going down stairs (like Fearless mentioned) seem daunting at first but after a few wears it'll feel more natural. But if you don't want to wear them that's cool too, I just find dresses quite cute.
It's difficult to classify clothing in this way because fashion changes so much and so rapidly, I do agree there. However, despite pants now being more gender neutral, it remains true that skirts are (socially, commonly) restricted to women. It's no coincidence that the garment usually attached to men is the one that becomes "unisex" -- that is, women can adapt something traditionally male, but there's still a huge stigma against men adapting something traditionally female.

The nice thing about FFXIV is that once you level your first class to 10, you can learn all the other jobs and switch between them quickly. The jobs are classified under Disciples of War (mainly combat classes), Magic (self-explanatory), Hand (crafting), and Land (gathering). Pick whatever job appeals to you at first and then you can always switch out. I've accumulated at least a few levels in a bunch of jobs (archer, weaver, botanist, pugilist, leatherworker, and conjuror). It keeps the game fresh! If I'm not feeling taking down monsters one day I can make myself some clothes or chop down some trees.

I'm mainly an archer, I started out as one because I like the DPS designation. If you're new to MMOs (which I was when I started FFXIV! I'm still learning) your primary role is to damage from a distance. You won't have as powerful attacks as, say, a Gladiator, but your role is still important. Most DPS classes also take on secondary abilities, like when you become a Bard (the natural evolution for archers) you'll be able to play songs that can increase your party's MP or something. Just go with your gut and try everything!

Also we wanted to create a KHV free company (FFXIV version of guilds), so if we get enough KHV people playing we can revive that. The plans were to do it on Ultros, so if you're just starting out, try to get on that server!

This thread is also propelling the assumption that pants = normal. Y'all do realize that all humans, male or female, primarily wore skirt/dress type garments? Pants are far more difficult to create. Modernly of course we don't look at it this way due to the othering of female.

I haven't seen like... any of the new Marvel movies but I just haven't been too interested in them. I considered watching Thor just because Natalie Portman is in it but I never did. I did see Avengers though and I enjoyed it enough. I am excited for Guardians of the Galaxy though.

Also I'm working the Captain America premiere on Thursday night, always fun.

On a completely unrelated note, I'm going to start running again! Last August I was ~going through some things~ and decided to start running. I got pretty into it, truthfully I was pretty crap but I was improving slowly (in speed and endurance). October hit and I stopped going because it got cold out. It was pretty warm out today though (despite it snowing yesterday dafuk) and I went for the first time in ages. It felt really great, I'm proud that I not only had school today but also work and still found the energy to go. I am basically at the same point I was at last August but hopefully I can reclaim some of my progress.

I'm not really looking to lose weight or anything, I'm 5'2" and weigh 117lbs so I'm pretty small, but it would be nice to replace some flab with muscle.

It's Tuesday everyone which means... new episode of the podcast!

This week your usual hosts (@Misty , @Llaverion , and @libregkd ) sit down with @soma and @Cstar to discuss virtual reality. Virtual reality has been a popular topic in gaming in the last few weeks, after Sony announced their new Project Morpheus at GDC 2014 and Facebook purchased Oculus Rift for $2 billion.

If you don't know anything about virtual reality, don't fret! We go through the basics of what VR actually is and some of its applications. We also make a lot of Star Trek jokes.

Well first I contacted the original developer asking to fix the bug preventing it from working altogether as well as make a necessary addition to it. It took a while for him to reply, and when he did he said he was booked up for the time being. He didn't give a timeline so I waited a few weeks (esp because it was the holiday season and we've worked with him before on several occasions with positive results). Eventually he told me that he just didn't have the time to fix it.

From there I had to find a new developer. I sent out many messages without any reply. At last we found someone willing to take on the work and he's working on it now. I understand it is frustrating for you guys and I'm insistent on being able to count the posts made but not counted during this time period, but there's not much more I can do. Unfortunately requiring custom work like this is a difficult process because you have to find developers who have their own jobs and timelines etc., not to mention that we fund everything out of the pocket of the staff.
