Priority is used to determine what cards in a chain are activated first. It does not override the rule that traps cannot be activated on the same turn that they are set, otherwise said rule would not exist because you could either use it as a counter during that turn or activate it however during the turn after. It's a little thing called common sense. And not trying to get around the rules in the cheapest way possible to make yourself look like a good duelist. I'm seeing a lot of that second one lately.

I think it looks good compared to Guitar Hero, because it's a new concept (you don't see many of those) and I like the way they went about putting it into action.
