I'm going to deviate here and say subjugation can be a choice. I do believe you have been, in most of those situations, just the victim of poor circumstances, but you can't pawn all of this off on the girls. It sounds like you are rather submissive in all of these relationships (even if you initiate), the kind of guy who will go wherever and do whatever. It's tempting to do that in relationships, especially ones you're quite invested in, because you take it as being courteous and not making trouble... but sadly, if you make yourself a doormat, people are going to step on you. Every single one of these girls have taken advantage of you, some in worse ways than others, but recognizing that this happens to you a lot and adjusting your behavior could go a long way.

I'm not saying that you should become an overly-confident dirtbag (just imagining applying those words to you is quite funny to me, Krowley, hah), but try not to get stuck playing the Nice Guy role to girls. Obviously you can't really know someone's relationship status and emotional/psychological dealio until you actually get involved with them, but showing that you are a confident person (without going overboard & freaking them out) will tell people not to use you.

Hope some of this helps, it's all quite abstract, but I often feel that just writing out your thoughts and recognizing your patterns gives you a subconscious/semi-conscious awareness of them, and you then, naturally, correct them. I don't deny that there is some component of luck involved with this, and just finding the 'right person/people', but there are things you can do. xo

Semantic argument (or what it usually is, nitpicking) requires the least amount of intelligence and is generally a sign that someone wants to discredit what you're saying but is incapable of forming a legitimate argument. If intent and meaning are clear, and you're not in an English class, there's not much of a reason to bring it up. Repeated or flagrant misuse of a word might warrant a correction but otherwise it's pretty obnoxious.

We're gearing up for another Staff Questions podcast, to welcome in our lovely new team members. We have currently received a total of ZERO questions so it would be super cool if y'all dropped a few in. All you have to do is post them here: http://kh-vids.net/threads/submit-your-questions-for-staff-questions-v.145354/

Hello everyone! In keeping with our tradition, the recent hiring of new staff members means we're due up for a new Staff Questions Podcast!

Those unfamiliar with the concept would probably be best served by checking out some of our previous Staff Questions episodes, but I'll give y'all a basic rundown. A thread is posted (this one right here!) with a list of the staff members who have consented to participate in our (affectionate) hazing ritual. Members are given free reign* to submit questions that they will then be asked by a host (me!) for a special episode of the podcast! It's a great opportunity to get to know your staff members and to participate in the podcast.

The following newcomers have submitted for interrogation:
    • @Cherry Berry , our fleshy drupe!
    • @Cat~ , the resident fangirl!
    • @Cstar , our wicked Bostonian!
    • @Calxiyn , Disney enthusiast and new staff baby!
    • @Karuta , our newest tech nerd!
Questions can cover their lives (work, school, or social lives), their hobbies and interests, advice, opinions, and suggestions, as well as Kingdom Hearts (of course!) and anything else that strikes your fancy. Questions can be directed towards either the individual or the group. Please keep questions appropriate per our site rules and try not to overload anyone -- that is, don't ask Cat six questions and Cstar none. Spread the love!

If you would like your question to be asked anonymously, you can message them to me directly. We'll try to get to every question, but depending on the volume of submissions, it may not be possible. We'll do our best! There's currently no deadline for question submissions, but once we work out a date for recording, we'll let you all know well in advance.

I'll also use this opportunity to announce that there will, sadly, be no podcast this week! The three of us have been absolutely overloaded with school, work, and life and scheduling was impossible. We'll be back next week!

    Thanks everyone and have fun!

Interested in being a member guest on the podcast? Fill out our form here and we'll be in touch. Ask us a question by visiting this page or sending an email to podcast@kh-vids.net!

    * = Not really.

I AM IN DAY THREE OF MY PROBABLY 2 WEEK LONG HOMEWORK COMA, i am falling apart already. I have planned out each of my days, with usually one assignment per day which doesn't sound too bad... but some of those assignments are lengthy and intensive papers. I'm writing a research paper about bullying in schools, its impact on students, and what my role as a (future) educator will be in responding to it and I have to use APA citation & formatting which I ****ing hate and I've written almost six pages (goal is five to eight) so far but I also have two full pages of references (not included in six page count) and I'm getting self-conscious about that and **** my lifeeeeeeeeeeeee

It doesn't help that I am working every day this week except Monday, meaning that I'll basically be going from school to work most days. I'm going to ****ing die I cannot wait until this semester is over I am going to eat SO MUCH GODDAMN FOOD and continue my exercising which I started again recently but has been interrupted by said homework coma and play video games and read books and sleep all day and not give a ****

this breakdown has also been set to the soundtrack of Rio 2 and I will fight anyone who makes fun of me it has good songs shut up

One of the unfortunate pitfalls of an interest in literary criticism & analysis is that you sometimes can't just let go and enjoy something for what it's worth. When I read books for school professors usually start off with the "did you like it" question and it's so hard for me to answer because I've usually by that point gone beyond liking something, but rather evaluating it. It's far more prevalent with assigned books as opposed to those I read for leisure, but it does leak over at times. I also have a habit of analyzing other people in this way; so, for example, I was recommended/forced to read TFiOS by a dear friend, who told me that I reminded her of Hazel (which I didn't see much but it's not important). I spent much of my time reading the book thinking about why she enjoyed it, why she recommended it to me, what qualities she felt I had because of her comparison to Hazel, and so on.

It's usually the mark of a really masterful novel when I'm completely distracted from thoughts about narrative or plot structure or symbolism or allegory and I just get lost in the story, the prose, the emotion. Only a few books I've read in recent years have done this and they are ones very dear to me for that reason. It's not to say that I can't or don't analyze these works, far from it, but they're often the subjects of my habitual and obsessive re-reading. They're usually the most challenging for me in that regard. Pride & Prejudice is a great example here, as probably my favorite novel. When I first read it I was completely engrossed in the story and the characters and the experience of reading it that I missed out on many of the finer skills of Jane Austen in writing it. It's through my several re-readings since that I've discovered new things about it. Another example would be Mrs. Dalloway, though slightly different -- I struggled to really get a hold of the narrative and purpose of the book, but instead let myself get lost in Virginia Woolf's emotive characters. I've always wanted to return to the book in hopes that I can dissect it further, but for both of these, it's a labor of love. For books like TFiOS, I'm so distracted by the problems that I can't enjoy the book for what it is.

    tl;dr i drive myself crazy
