The class had few actual assignments as it wasn't a like... Make art class as much as a look at art class. As such class participation was a major part of my grade, so in that case speaking in class pretty much secured the A. my prof didn't always agree on my points (I think, he would mostly play devil's advocate) but he respected my reasonings and critiques and that I actually made an effort to participate. I don't see anything wrong with that.

Won't happen. We often discuss the reports in the comments and that shouldn't really be visible to the reporting member. When reports are resolved I and I think everyone else sends alerts, if a report "hasn't been dealt with" in a timely fashion it was probably rejected.

They are hardly brushed off. We released new styles every year since moving to XF, this year will be no exception, and every year we learn more about working with XF's styling system to make them better. If they're not to your design tastes then sorry? But hopefully a future style will be. Customizing posts per page will never be possible given the link structure of XF so don't hold your breath on that one. You can change your birthday by messaging an admin if it's inaccurate. Back on vb members had suggested features similar to the alerts system, i personally love it and i think other members do too, but you can easily turn it off if you don't want it. Due to suggestions made about the likes system and the advantages people cite of rep, @Plums and the rest of the staff are working on setting up a new system. What a lot of these complaints about XF boil down to is "I miss vB" or "I liked this about vB" and that's all well and good but XF is not vB. It is its own software with its own goals and intentions and while we do try to replicate a lot of the better functions of vB, we can't shouldn't and don't wish to keep old systems just for the sake of having them.

I highly doubt my listing of the specific improvements and advantages of XF would change your mind at all and I just woke up & don't really feel like typing an essay on my phone but among them

    Responsive design
    Better seo
    Cleaner URLs
    Better support
    Better development community
    More secure
    Frequest quality updates
Experienced Dev team (XF was created by the guys behind vB after internal disagreements about the direction to take vb4)
    Alerts system
    Faster
    More stable
    Better error reporting
    Better styling system

I could be far more detailed and specific but this is the subject of many long threads on XF sites and not something I'm just going to pull out of my ass to satisfy people who will probably never like the software. What it comes down to is user experience. If you somehow feel it is better on vB then that's your business. I know XF was a good choice for the staff team and it's allowing us to take the site in great new directions. But by all means, lament the broken and unused rep system.

vBulletin is broken, crap, ancient forum software. vB4 was a decent forum for like... 2009 but the company has no future. Xenforo does. As far as I can tell basic functionality is the same for you guys with many added goodies (and continued regular updates and additions). I stand by the move completely, I can't explain how much easier it is to no longer have to grapple with vB constantly. I know this post will change nothing though so by all means keep complaining.

That's one of the positives about college, you to some extent have the freedom to pick your professors and see who you jive with. It's not just a grades consideration for me, my poetry professor is probably one of the toughest English profs at my college. He is however incredibly well-read (both in poetry and literature) and is pretty open to hearing others' interpretations of the poems which is what I value a lot in an English professor (though he very much disliked biographical critiques & I understand why in the context of the class). I liked that he challenged me to some extent though -- as I said I did well on the graded assignments but many of his selections were extremely complex. We had to read The Wasteland, for example. I have dropped a class because I did not feel the professor was very good and I would do it again; I understand that's a bit of a luxury but to me college isn't just about getting through and getting done, it's a learning experience and I intend to get the most possible out of it.

Of course sometimes there's no other professor available or at least not at a convenient time so sometimes you do just have to buckle down and put up with a bad professor. There are people out there who just should not be in education or academia. In those situations you've just got to make the most out of it.

This is why I like English, you can say whatever you'd like as long as you argue it well (usually back it up with details from the text and coherent analysis). A quality English professor will respect that; I've certainly had ones who haven't but, as someone who wants to be an English teacher, it's of fundamental importance to me.

I also think it's a very personal thing that companies have no business dictating or prying into. If someone is clearly abusing sick days, then depending on the formality/intimacy of the job they can pursue the matter, but I hated it when I called into my old job at Best Buy and they asked me what was wrong (not out of concern but because they thought I was ditching or something), tried to get me to come in anyway, that kind of thing. People don't always want to talk about their medical issues? If they really wanted to know I could have told them that my uterus had decided to fold in on itself but I don't see why that's their business.

At my current job I've never called out, it's just not something we ever do. The one time I was physically too ill to come in (cramps) I was able to get someone to cover me. Once or twice I asked to go home early because I was feeling ill. In food service you have to be kind of careful, you can't be sneezing and coughing into someone's soda -- so one of the rules should be to not go to work if there is danger of spreading your illness to others (whether they be coworkers or customers).

On the subject of mental illness I find that is just as legitimate a reason to call out as any other. When I was going through a bit of a bad time two years ago I still went into work as I could still reasonably perform my duties, I wasn't very talkative with my coworkers or the customers but calling out of a casual part time job on that basis is kinda ******. Again if someone is calling out everyone other shift then it's a problem but in my experience businesses give you a lot of grief & make you feel even worse for being ill. I understand it's an inconvenience, I've had to work twice as hard on nights where someone has had to call out, but I would expect others to do the same for me in return if I was ever ill. Not only that but calling in for a shift when you're paid hourly (as opposed to a salary) leaves you out of money too -- I can't imagine people would make a habit of that if they need the job.

It'll never work and it's pretty impossible to impose. Even if the UK were to target UK-based porn sites (and I don't think there really are any big ones, if there are they'll move their servers to other countries depending on how stringently this law is enforced), there would still be plenty of other sites out there for people to access, or ways around whatever blocks or barriers they impose. Not to mention that, when you're, ahem, preparing to participate in some porn-related activities, I think the last thing you're concerned with is getting your credit card out and entering its details. I also very much doubt that most people will want their porn viewing habits connected with their credit card, where the credit card companies and/or their families can see it. There's also the tremendous possibility for credit card fraud with porn sites, which are often of a less than reputable nature.

The US has plenty of laws regarding copyright on the internet and nobody pays attention to that, I don't see why this should be any different. Porn will always be in demand, such popular demand that it's pretty futile to limit it on the internet, especially on a basis as arbitrary as age. Masturbation is a healthy practice for humans and, for many, porn adds to the experience, especially for youths who are sexually curious. I'm not saying porn is great, it gives you some pretty inaccurate information about sex and anatomy, but studies show that in-depth, sex positive education about healthy sexual behaviors is far more effective than blanket bans. I'm not saying porn shouldn't be regulated, but this definitely isn't the way to go about it nor even the principle to fight.

Sexuality is deeply intermingled in the human psyche, of course there are people uninterested in sex, asexuals, or people who just don't like porn (most popular porn sites do a very poor job of catering towards female audiences for example, others oppose it on a religious basis, and some just find it icky/uncomfortable), but it's present and we cannot ignore that. For many it begins reaching prominence as early as puberty, which can hit kids at 9 or 10 years old. If we're doing an inadequate job of educating them about sex at that age, they're going to turn to (probably) the internet. If you limit their access to sexual content on the internet I shudder to think where else they will get their information -- probably from equally ignorant friends, which is where a lot of the harmful myths about sex come from (like that you can't get pregnant during your first time or something).

I got top grades on every paper and exam in my poetry class v: IT IS POSSIBLE Y'ALL /brag

I took an Art Appreciation course to satisfy my arts requirement, the prof liked me because I was the only one who spoke up in class. It is also helps to be a feminist who quite often can't keep her mouth shut when people spew misogynistic bullshit. I made a few enemies in that class. But I also got an A.

The explanation for why it's that way is, traditionally/historically, we've had more fanfiction than original works here. I like the idea of featuring original works more prominently, but would y'all rather do this with prefixes? I find segmenting things into subsections means just another click to get to the content -- which is justified in some cases, but prefixes are an option to consider as well.

Probably the most memorable so far would be my first dungeon (Sastasha). Both the tank and the healer dropped, and for whatever reason we decided to keep going. I was streaming at the time and was lucky enough to capture our glorious victory. We start to take on the boss around 1:03:40, but we (understandably) died like five times, so you can jump about ten minutes forward to see us win (and hear me freak out).
