the real question: return of the jedi or return of the king GOGOGOGOGO
OKAY SO it is story time with misty everyone gather around Today I took a final for my contemporary global literature class. I really enjoyed the class and the professor; I was intending to email her already as she left some really encouraging words (and a question I thought rude not to answer) as feedback on my last paper for the class. I think I did kinda crappy on the final though, but I'm also rather a perfectionist when it comes to my English courses so I may just be dramatic. Anyway I used basically all the class time to take the final so when I left there were like three other students in the classroom. As most of the people left my professor stopped them to say like "oh keep in touch, where will you be next semester, have a good summer," that kind of thing. When I handed mine in we talked about my plans for next semester and then she took me outside the classroom to talk some more. She told me I was smart, "really sharp," and encouraged me to follow my dreams apply for scholarships etc etc I was really flattered not just by her words but because I really respect her as a professor so I already felt a bit flustered, but then also the fact that I had just handed in what was in my view a sub-par final exam I felt even more rotten. So I feel I was a bit awkward in conversation, though polite and I said thank you & all I spent the next few hours thinking about it though and I resolved to write an email saying thanks for the class and the kind words etc etc. It got kinda long and introspective and junk (mostly about how I've had such a great experience in my college's English program and how it's really developed my education & career goals as well as myself) but I sent it anyway, persuading myself with the notion that this world could use a lil more kindness, especially towards people who really deserve it. However I'm just wondering if anyone else has sent such emails (or said similar things) to their professors? I emailed my other English professor a few days ago for actual class stuff but added at the end (since the class was ending) that I really enjoyed the class and thanked her for it. I felt that doing this again today might make me seem like a bit of a suck up, but then I thought that, if I was a professor (which isn't such a leap because I'm studying to be an English teacher), if I would want to hear these sorts of things, especially from students I really liked, and the answer was yes. SO I DUNNO Y'ALL HELP ME OUT
This might be a tmi question but how are your bathing/hygiene habits compared to those of your family? It seems odd that you're the only one being bitten.
I updated the add-on the other night and this is one of the new features. The function is pretty much self explanatory and rather minor so I didn't feel it necessary to post a notice, but yeah. It's there.
Yeah I've naturally got a lot to say about the stuff in this thread, was just waiting for a post that set me off heh Fair warning that things might get a little nsfw below You're right, it is interesting definitely. However, I'm inclined to say that kinks/turn-ons are separate from the generalized views of sexuality in my post. However, the dominatrix kink (and even something as simple as the women being on top during hetero sex, which usually means that she controls the rhythm & such) I think relates in that it's an inversion of what we expect -- the male dominating (after all, missionary is considered the standard sexual position). Sexual experimentation is of course exciting to people, and putting the woman into a dominant position is sort of an experiment with how society typically functions. To give a personal experience, I'm a very passive person in general and, at this point in my life, passive sexually as well. A guy I was with would ask me if I was at all into the idea of being more dominant romantically and, by extension, sexually (nothing as extreme as dominatrix stuff, honestly I was & still am figuring out my sexuality so it was really small things like being the one to initiate sexy talkz rather than just responding). Nobody likes to be the one who always initiates for obvious reasons and the guy's interest in this example is probably because I am so passive, but in general I think men are excited by the idea of women as sexual creatures, and women as well find embracing and freely expressing their inner sexuality, controlling intercourse, exciting. As we've established in the thread society limits a woman's sexual expression unless it is elicited by a man; that's why female masturbation is still so hush-hush, because it represents this idea that a woman has natural sexual desires and a sexuality independent of men. This is also a limiting factor for lesbians, as society is puzzled by the idea of sex without men anywhere in the equation (sex between two+ men is marginally more acceptable because in society's view, men gonna be men). I'd argue that male interest in "lesbian porn" (put into quotations because what's advertised as lesbian porn is rarely geared towards actual lesbians) is similar to the dominatrix kink in that way -- because it represents this thrilling idea that women are sexual creatures.
This is something I've been quite interested in exploring given that, in my experience, it is similar to what you say: generally women fantasize less about the physical act of sex and more about the emotion and who they're doing it with. There are two ways I've found to look at it, both of which I think are valid. The first relates to your point about masturbation, that women masturbating and/or watching porn is very taboo in our society (not to say that male masturbation is necessarily acceptable but it's far more normalized and expected in our culture for a variety of reasons) -- girls are raised to look at love more abstractly. While boys are conditioned to objectify women physically, women are more prone to viewing men more as emotional partners. These are of course big generalizations and I don't agree with their presence, but this is the gender binary we're raised and conditioned in -- many do not fit this mold. The second is an evolutionary argument. Science holds that the fundamental goal for all beings is to reproduce, and sex is of course linked to that. For a man, he can reproduce through the simple act of having sex which, ignoring things like fatigue (both physical and sexual), can be done several times a day, every day. While he may not necessarily produce a child each time, as long as he inseminates the woman, his reproductive work is done. Women, however, must put more consideration into it -- because they carry and give birth to the child, they typically must assume responsibility for raising the child to adulthood. The task is vastly easier with a male companion; therefore, a woman will biologically seek a sexual partner they feel will commit to them in the long-term, and therefore help raise offspring. While our modern conceptions of sex and love have deviated from reproduction, the process of mate selection is definitely affected by this evolutionary influence.
I think it was either you or Nick, he's been using a handheld mic until I get off my ass and mail him my old headset No big tho~
I'm not very interested in either to be honest. I was never very compelled by the Organization (though not playing Days might have something to do with that) and Roxas's angst often bothered me. I did like his intro level in Kingdom Hearts II but beyond that he's not anything special to me. Ven is a bit more bearable if bland in comparison, but I really love Birth by Sleep so imma give him my vote. Choosing between Sora and Riku though... impossibru
Updated & working now.

For **** like this... it really doesn't matter. Most sites get it up within an hour of one another and everyone copies one another anyway. It's really about the extras ya offer.

Another tech demo would be super rad (like the Rock Titan train video from a whileeee back). Something to show off the engine and give fans a concept, even if it isn't necessarily reflective of the finished product.
Likewise, something as simple as a screenshot can't be too hard... can it? can it square ;~; ( I hate that the KH fandom has reached the point where we'll go crazy over something as small as a logo or some promo art )
I probably need to update the add-on after the recent XF update. Will let you know when it's done, the add-on dev moved to a new licensing system though & so I'm going to have to contact him about being recognized as a license holder (which I am) so there might be a minor delay there.
Freud in general is just NUTS, admittedly I have little to no understanding of psychology (I have somehow not taken a course in it yet?) but he comes up a lot in psychoanalytic literary criticism and in gender & philosophy classes. So I don't feel qualified in saying this but it's my understanding that he had some good ideas but the majority of his theories are just ???? these days I've also read a bit of Nancy Chodorow which is always a good laugh if you find calling Freud out on his misogynistic BS funny (I do)
season 5 matt smith is such a cutie wow, i miss his long hair
