Back on topic, I've downloaded Long Forgotten Songs.
    • Everchanging (Acoustic): Pretty sure this is from a Warped Tour Compilation that I hunted down once lol. Still good.
    • Little Boxes: Glad to have a version of this! I stopped liking Weeds once they stopped using Little Boxes as the theme & I was very happy Rise Against did one.
    • Obstructed View: I feel like there's another, better version of this song somewhere out there...
    • But Tonight We Dance: looooooove this one, I think I made an AMV to it back in like 2008 lol
    • The Ghost of Tom Joad: I DIDN'T KNOW THEY COVERED THISSSSSS

Yeah I was worried people might think I was implying Siren Song was "pop punk" by calling it their most "pop" album ha. They definitely are not pop punk.

To be fair my Rise Against knowledge spans The Unraveling - Sufferer. I have vague & fleeting recollections of Appeal lol.

Oh wow there's a lot on there that I haven't heard before. Definitely some good ones I'm familiar with though. Downloading.
With a few exceptions, I'd honestly say that Siren Song is their most "pop" album. They're definitely not anywhere close pop punk, there are some of the harder on Siren, and Sufferer is probably their most accessible, but Siren definitely isn't their hardest album. I'd probably give that title to Revolutions... The Unraveling was experimenting a lot with different styles whereas I can understand why people just can't get into Revolutions.

I didn't watch TMNT as a child so I guess I'm not exactly "target audience" here nor did I have any kind of attachment to the movie. I do get that people feel obligated to see it but that's never a great feeling, going into a theater thinking "well I HAVE to see it" lol

yeah it was exactly what you would expect: overdone action scenes, lack of a plot, some attempts at humor. don't waste the ticket cost.

I would rather leave it open as this is a feature we would like to implement officially and I've some ideas as to how.

i briefly considered watching teen wolf but it's my understanding that they have a proclivity for killing off or otherwise neglecting their female characters and these days i have roughly zero interest in & patience for male characters

I'm... not sure where this person acquired their understanding of rape but it is extremely inaccurate. For starters, a victim of rape will never "enjoy" being raped, regardless of gender. A rape is a traumatic, awful experience that no person can enjoy, besides perhaps the rapist, but that's a completely different story. Point being, no person can enjoy being sexually violated against their will. As for who rape is "more traumatic" for, I don't think that can be tied to gender either, nor is it ever something we can compare. Each victim's case, reaction, and trauma is unique. Some may cope "better" than others, or shoulder their experience in a different way, because they are an individual with differing circumstances.

It is true of course that there are different social stigmas facing rape victims based upon their gender, however. A female rape victim is often barraged with questions like "were you asking for it," "were you dressed provocatively," that sort of tripe. A male rape victim faces the expectations that men want sex at all times from everyone, the insinuation that he wasn't powerful enough to fight off his rapist, and so on. Again, these aren't things we can really compare, nor should we I don't think. Rape is an awful, terrible crime and I would rather we focus on how we can help victims rather than turning their suffering into some sort of contest.
The number of false rape accusations is usually cited as between 2% and 8% depending on the study. However, it's complicated. For starters, most statistics will count a rape victim accusing the wrong person as a false rape accusation -- which is true, a person was falsely accused of rape, but the woman wasn't necessarily lying about being raped -- she simply misidentified her attacker. We also have to look at how our legal system functions: let's say a person is accused of rape. The jury does not feel there is sufficient evidence to prosecute them, and therefore proclaims them "not guilty." The wording is key here -- the jury does not say that they are innocent, as that would be rather absolute. This person may be innocent, or they may have raped someone; either way, it is counted as a false rape accusation.

    Furthermore...

Simply put, it's very difficult to cite statistics on this sort of thing.

Yeah Ronan was not exactly an exciting or innovating villain. Wish we had more of Nebula, I feel like there's probably a really interesting relationship between her and Gamora.
I knew it was a podcast of some kind but I for some reason thought that there was a webcomic attached to it! Couldn't tell you why.
Most definitely! Let's make it happen.
Glad you enjoyed it! I feel like similar trash within the comic book realm though, as I said repeatedly, I'm hoping to reduce my garbage status. I should probably get around to watching some of the recent Marvel movies though...

Amaury, the basic explanation here is that there are a limited amount of a certain Thing in this world. Despite whatever it retailed for originally or what you personally feel it's worth, some people are willing to pay $500 for the Thing. The price of an item is arbitrary. There's no inherent value in any product in this world that determines that it is worth x amount of money, because money is artificial and so are economics and where was I going with this

    okay let's try to refocus
There's an action figure out there that I really want. Currently, it can be had for about $450. When it came out, it was significantly less than that ($80 I think). Now of course, I'd love to buy it for $80. But the figure only had a few (relatively) copies made. Everyone out there who bought it when it came out, and are selling it now, a) want to make a profit if possible and b) know that they own something that not many people do. Therefore, the price of the item goes up. If there was no demand for the item -- i.e. no one wanted to buy it -- they would only be able to sell it for something like $20. Because people do want to buy it, they'll pay more than it was originally priced.

Think of it like real estate. Let's say your house is valued at $250k, based on the size of the house, the acreage, and the condition of the home. However, your house is in a highly sought after neighborhood. Because of that demand for the neighborhood, people will pay more than ticket price -- likely after a bidding war that drives the price up -- because there aren't many homes available in the area and they really want this one. They pay more than the house itself is worth.

You might see this all as crazy and paying way too much money but that's based on personal preference. To some people, paying upwards for $400 for something that originally sold for $80 is crazy. But people have their reasons for doing so, and in a capitalist economic system, that's how it works.

I reaaaally recommend listening to The Unraveling. For some reason it's probably their most unappreciated album but it has some of my favorite tracks. It is a bit more punk like Haya mentioned, with some of the hardcore they later got into for Revolutions (which I also love), but even if that's not your steez it's at least worth a listen. Make sure you listen to the remastered tracks.

My favorites from it, in track order since I'm just going through it, are:
    • My Life Inside Your Heart (very reminiscent of later Rise Against whereas other songs are more experimental with their sound; good place to start)
    • Great Awakening
    • Six Ways 'Til Sunday (bit of a mall punk sound here lol)
    • Reception Fades
    • Everchanging (would fit in well on Siren Song imo, so if you like Siren Song check this one out)
    • 1000 Good Intentions (excellent bass line)
    • Weight of Time
    • Faint Resemblance
    • Gethsemane (bit more Revolutions Per Minute here)
Revolutions gets reaaaally same-y if you're not paying a lot of attention when you listen but it was my first Rise Against album so it holds a special place in my heart (Like the Angel especially).

I feel you, that's a pretty typical response from a recent graduate ha. A friend of mine recently enlisted in the military -- he's been in basic for the last few months so I didn't get to hear from him, but he recently called my job (we worked together) and updated us all on his life. He's in computer networking which is obviously different from engineering but it's a good source of employment for sure.

Yeah that happens pretty often with Ultros, it's one of the larger NA servers (biggest is Gilgamesh I think?). If you wait until the early morning you should be able to get a spot, or just check it every hour or so.
