Yuri!!! on Ice is a Fall 2016 anime that, surprisingly, has nothing to do with the yuri genre, so if you're looking for that, you may want to look elsewhere. The show follows Yuri Katsuki, a 23-year-old Japanese figure skater who returns home after a nerve-induced dead-last loss at the figure skating World Grand Prix, unsure of if he wants to continue skating or not. For years, he's dreamed of skating on the same ice as his long-time idol, Russian skater Viktor Nikiforov, but the dream seems impossible now after his loss. One day he goes to the local ice rink and performs a flawless imitation of Nikiforov's latest routine; unbeknownst to him, his skating has been recorded and becomes a viral hit on the internet, where it catches the eye of none other than Nikiforov himself. With no warning, Nikiforov shows up at Yuri's family hot spring resort, declaring that he will coach Yuri to victory. Yuri!!! on Ice simulcasts on Crunchyroll on Wednesdays at 3pm ET, with a simuldub by Funimation beginning on October 24 at 10pm ET.

I'm actually going to go out on a limb and say that it will still be a part of the overall story, but that said story will be incorporated in part into Unchained. Spoiler: chi and Unchained Bear in mind the developments when the protagonist in both the mobile and browser versions met Master Ava, who spoke of a separate world called Unchained, where her Dandelions would be sent to survive the Keyblade War, and then the secret ending to the browser game, titled Unchained 0, where the protagonist awoke with their memories rewritten and the Keyblade War yet to occur. The implication is clear--that the browser protagonist was taken into the Unchained world by Ephemer and Skuld. Obviously, how the logistics of that will be resolved is yet to be seen, but we'll see as Unchained progresses; for the time being, tomorrow (or rather, today) Japan gets its first Unchained story update that majorly deviates from the browser version, sending players to Castle of Dreams. We're not due to see this in global until January or later, according to the recent developer letter, but it's something to look forward to.

I still don't really get this. There's still plenty to indicate fantasy from the pre-release material. There's still magic (warping, weapon summoning, crystals, summons, elemental spells, the world turning to endless night) and monsters and beasts. So, is it just because of the more modern/realistic setting, or what?

Voting third party is a nice idea in concept, since the two-party system is so awful. But showing up once every four years to try and get the big prize is not the way to get a third party into the system. You gotta start small with that.
