So, I'm placing bets on Megaman being announced on October 18th
Though it's not the case in every instance, even though you can say "Just learn to do it!" doesn't change that a Wavedash/L-Cancel user is the one with the Advantage because of exploiting something in the game, even if both players are equally skilled, the one doing the exploiting gets the advantage And I'm not saying this because I can't do it, I play SSB64 and Melee at a competitive level and can L/Z-cancel and Wavedash just fine, but when I'm playing with friends and they can't commit time and practice towards Wavedashing and the like...they're not going to be having an enjoyable time playing against someone who does. So, even though I use them, I don't think I rely on them, and I personally think SSB's experience would benefit from it being taken out, making it so that people like my friends can have more fun with the game even if playing against someone who puts more effort into the game like me. You can accept that you lose to someone because you messed up or you acknowledge that the person you're playing is better than you, it's harder to do that when it seems like you lost because he's exploiting something to get an advantage that you're not
Say the 3D glasses cost too much, but that select audience has the cash to spend on these specific 3D glasses. Those who don't want to spend that much on something like that are suddenly getting looked down on by those who can get the 3D glasses, and it's especially unfair when the movie is meant to be watched with friends but they made the experience so that the 3D glasses guys are getting the easier time with it
Yeah, but that's like saying that a couple thousand people watched the movie with 3D glasses and enjoyed themselves, and therefore the sequel should be viewable only with 3D glasses to cater to those people who want an experience more fulfilling to them
Megaman and/or Bomberman were my 2 hopefuls for a 3rd party character additions, but I doubt Bomberman will be in (See; my icons post), and I think Megaman is going to be the one
SSBM has sold nearly 8 million copies, even if you assume that every member of SmashBoards and the old Nsider forums were avid Wavedash/L-Cancel users, the headcount combined hardly surpass 100,000 I would call that a minority Dogen: The icons in Melee didn't shrink
So, the Franchise Icons on the Dojo are sorted in a very specific way. First: Franchises the premiered in SSB64 Second: Franchises the premiered in Melee Last: New franchises that will appear in Brawl From there, they are then sorted alphabetically from the romanization of the Japanese name of the Franchise Series that started in Super Smash Bros.: 01: Dairantō Smash Brothers (Super Smash Bros.) 02: Donkī Kongu (Donkey Kong) 03: Fokkusu (Star Fox) 04: Hoshi no Kābii/Kābii (Kirby) 05: Kyaputen Farukon (F-Zero) 06: Metoroido (Metroid) 07: MOTHER 08: Poketto Monsutā (Pokemon) 09: Rinku (Zelda) 10: Sūpā Mario (Super Mario) 11: Yosshī (Yoshi) Series that started in Super Smash Bros. Melee: 12: Faia Emuburemu (Fire Emblem) 13: ??? 14: Popo (Aisu Kuraima) (Ice climbers) Series that will appear in Super Smash Bros. Brawl: 15: Dōbutsu no Mori (Animal Crossing) 16: Made in Wario (WarioWare) 17: Metal Gear 18: Parutena no Kagami (Kid Icarus) 19: ??? 20: Sonikku za Hejiihoggu (Sonic) The 2 icons that are missing from this list, are #13 and #19. #13 is a franchise beginning with a letter between G and P. #19 is a franchise beginning with a letter between P and S Every single character from Melee besides Ice Climbers and Marth/Roy and Mr. Game and Watch were attributed to a franchise that already existed in SSB64. A Fire Emblem franchise representative is back along with the Ice Climbers, meaning that #13 would have to be the icon of the only Franchise left, the Game and Watch franchise. Now #19 is the mystery, a character/franchise that is not already represented that starts witht he letters P, Q, R, or S. The only major contenders I see from that area would be Olimar from the Pikmin series (Pikumin), and Megaman from the Megaman series, which in Japan is known as the Rokkuman series Considering they've still got room for a 3rd Party character addition, and that Megaman was the highest requested character next to Sonic, I believe that Rokkuman is our guy. To add to this, Capcom recently put up a cryptic message on their official website that they will decoded on October 18th at the start of E 4 All (Where Nintendo specifically made a point to attend and make SSBB playable). The message was: ??????? ???????? ??? ? ?????! Could this be? Megaman prepared for a Brawl! Capcom News
The thing strongly suggesting a character wasn't a Trophy, a Stage, and an Item (Though I mean...the series has all three of those in the game), it's that Animal Crossing has it's own specific Smash Bros icon on the website marking the Stage/Item/Assist entries, and Icons on the website are only given to series' with a playable character, otherwise it's a neutral Smash icon Also, the Wiimote on it's side and the Classic Controller were available Soush, and the Classic Controller plays almost exactly like the Gamecube controller except it doesn't have Rumble and pressure-sensitive triggers 1up said it in a Q&A session they hosted on their forums, I'm not sure where the thread is now it may have been pushed way back, I'll try and find it again
Off-topic, but we've posted 10 entire pages in about 6 hours
Also, the press attending the Nintendo Summit is more of a casual aduience, so they're not really going to test out anything as thorough as the Smash audience really wants, so on October 18th we'll definately get so much more impressions and hands-on details of every bit that's packed in that Demo
1up tried Wavedashing and L-Cancelling and they said that neither worked when they tried, which also cancels out Waveshining (Plus, I mean, no one that attended the event seemed to even want to play Fox o-0). Short-hopping is back, obviously, but I think L-canceling and Wavedashing are really the big 2 they wanted to test so I don't think they tried any of the cancels
Zelda's Down+B hasn't been shown, and she wasn't playable in the Demo, most likely to avoid people checking if she's still tied to Sheik
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/F-Zero_anime Original run: October 7, 2003 – September 28, 2004 ???
Which both came out after Melee was released
Also, we know Diddy Kong's Up+B and Nuetral+B Diddy Kong's Down+B is to drop a Banana Peel that sits on the ground for a short period of time and acts like the Banana Peel item, but he can have one Banana Peel at a time though. Diddy's Side-B is to lunge forward in a straight line (Like Fox's Side+B), and if someone is in the way Diddy grabs then and scratches their face with multiple swipes
When Peach activates her Final Smash, 2 portrait drawings of Peach appear on either side of the screen briefly, and when activated the entire screen flashes pink for a second and every opponent falls asleep instantly (Even if they are in mid-air). When everyone falls asleep, the 2 portraits disappear and cover the entire stage in hearts, which Peach can then pick up and use to heal herself (Like the food items in Melee). When your opponents wake up, if there are still hearts around they can pick them up for health as well You can see it at the tail end of the video posted here: http://www.gamepro.com/nintendo/wii/games/previews/139928.shtml Metaknight activates his Final Smash and then envelopes the entire stage in his cape, making everything absolutely pitch-black (Like Togepi did sometimes in Melee). He begins slashing wildly all around him while floating/flying around, the Metaknight player controls where Metaknight moves (in a similarly 'slippery' fashion to that of Pikachu's Volt Tackle Final Smash) and you can see brief outlines of where the other characters are as they try and avoid you There has not been any footage of Metaknight's Final Smash, but I got this from a friend who attended Nintendo's Media Summit and gave info on the Brawl demo to Smashboards, so this is his impression of what went on
This is why discussion about these things is good =D So, I haven't been following your Brawl thread over here, did you guys hear Peach and Metaknight's Final Smashs yet?
Again, because it involves competition doesn't mean the the notion of taking a depthless character from a racing genre, with no physical action at all, to throw into a Fighting game suddenly makes perfect sense. It didn't make sense, and Captain Falcon had nothing to work with fighter-wise except that his name is Captain Falcon, and they completely built his character from scratch regardless. He's a great character in the game, I love him, I like playing as him, but that doesn't mean that it wasn't a wacky addition
Again, it seems like a double standard to say "Oh yeah, cars, woo, we're only racing cars but anonymous-practically-faceless-character totally works out to be in this game" but then say "Yeah, but I mean there's no way they're gonna work with something unique like <genre> because it totally wouldn't work out" Smash bros is about evolving in weird ways, taking a Plumber and a Puffball and a Electric Rat together isn't any more strange than an Animal Crossing character fighting with a Bug Net and a Fishing rod xD
Yeah, but you wouldn't think that a series where you have no real interaction with the characters themselves and drive around in cars would be something you should take a character from to put in a fist-fighting game either, eh? Animal Crossing has it's own icon on the Dojo website, which highly suggest a playable character from the series. Ressetti is an Assist Trophy and Tom Nook is part of the Animal Crossing stage, as is K.K Slider, so the only real remaining option would be a neutral non-specific Animal Crossing character Like Dogen said, Slingshot, Fishing Rod, Bug Net, Shovel, they'd translate interesting into Smash bros and make for a unique character
