Make sure that you put Project64k into a Folder. If you just placed it in Program Files willy-nilly the files are just sitting there, and not actually in a folder

No, it should already be the correct filetype. Did you put the ROM into the Project64k folder? Did you put the Project64k files into their own folder?

You have to open up Project64k first, then go to "File" and "Refresh ROMs List" and then select SSB64 from there and it should work

Uhh, yeah that's not going to be a problem, I have a lot of ROMs and my Project64k folder is only 60mb big...so, I mean, you'd have to download Project64k 20 times over to take up a single GB

All of us play the game with the keyboard, so you'll be at the same disadvantage as everyone else =P

Also, technically playing with a Keyboard will be similar to playing with the Wiiremote on it's side, since you have the same button limiation.

Either way you'll get the hang of it and soon you'll be playing just fine

Cooly, it should be fun to play against you, I already have a small following of SSB64 players and we play it online quite often

When you get it up and running, find the server "TerraOnline EmuServer", once you go there one it'll permanently be in your "Recent Servers" list so you can always access it faster. TerraOnline is the server we all play on

For everyone else who would like to participate, go to:

    http://pj64k.emulation64.com/

And click on the link that says "Project64k 0.13" to download Project64k, which is an N64 emulator that allows you to play N64 games with Online Multiplayer

In order to play your favorite N64 games, you'll need to get the "ROM" of them, which can be found here:

    http://romhustler.net/roms/n64/all

Simply click on the letter that the game starts with, find the game, and then download it from the Website to get the ROM, which you simply put in your Project64k folder.

    SSB64 can be found here:

    http://romhustler.net/rom/n64/333

When you get a game, there will be several different versions of the game, simply find the one that has [!] next to it's name and put it in your Project64k folder, ignore the other files since they're international versions of the game in different languages (the [!] means that it is the US version of the game)

    16 stages nonetheless, no?

I still see no reason why anyone would make a comment like "I can't play a stage because they don't play it in Tourneys ='(", when what goes on in a Tourney should not reflect exclusively what you should play in the game

On another note, it's a nice coincidence that the person who made that image is Phanna, a decently well known Samus player who implements the Super Wavedash into Tourney play (which you don't entirely see that often)

some impressive combo videos can be found on his Youtube page:

Stages don't get banned because they're 'too random', Stages get banned if they give overbearing advantages to certain characters, or if there are glitches/exploits that certain characters can use to a gamebreaking advantage

16 of Melee's 28 stages are allowed in Tourneys, and even then that only reflects what you play in a Tourney environment, and not what you can play when you're just playing with friends or for fun o-o

The majority of SSBM's stages were allowed in Tourneys o-0 and if you weren't going to Tourneys, then why should you care what they're playing on? It's no matter to you, play them regardless no one is stopping you D=

In one of the Nintendo Summit videos one of the NOA guys for Brawl said that they are aware of the "purist" audience of Smash Bros, so they are definitely aware of SSB's Tourney scene, so I think with all of Brawl's customization, stage Hazards should be something we can switch on/off

Knew this was coming about a month ago, good to actually see it though

Little disappointing that you're basically just on platforms in front of a backdrop of New Pork City, would have been better if you were like...actually there...instead of...in front of it..

But with Online play, there not going to be reserved people like you, and even in an Online situation you may see the situation as different. If they were simply taken out, it wouldn't be an option at all, so everyone's on the same plain and Smash bros metagame would change, evolve into something different

See; Now, I had the capability to bring a gun, but that wasn't my intention going into the fight, was it? I was expecting a simple fun Sword spar, and you bring in the arsenal for the sake of winning.

It's more like the average player is going into a battle with a sword expecting a battle of blades, and you bring a gun because you intended to win. Now, I had the capability to bring a gun, but that wasn't my intention going into the fight, was it? I was expecting a simple fun Sword spar, and you bring in the arsenal for the sake of winning.

Removing them puts everyone on the same field. If we were in a gun-less arena with a Sword shop at the entrance, everyone's going into it with the same heat. Throwing in Guns may benefit you for the sake of winning and may make the battle more 'intense' and 'skilled', but the Arena was set up for Sword fights ;)

I like analogies, they make me feel fuzzy inside

And without L-canceling, the Combo ability was still there.

The different between Bowser and Fox's moves when L-canceled may be a matter of but 2 frames of animation, when originally intended for the gap to be much larger. No matter what, L-canceling is deforming the support set by the Developers to make characters balanced, it's exploiting something that changes how the game is played unfavorably simply because it benefits a niche' audience, it shouldn't be back simply for the sake of tradition

L-canceling was more important for Practice Mode combo challenges which involved precision and memorization of how things react, but in actual play it could be done without religiously and you could still combo effectively

    Ignoring the point

Z-Canceling wasn't as vastly important in SSB64 as it was in Melee, yet SSB64 was still an extremely combo-viable game. Lag was meant to be there, the lag from attacks balances the games, and was programmed to be there to offset attacks. Eliminating Lag from aerials breaks the balance that the Developers intended, which is a reason why the Tiers have such a marginal difference in power most of the time, because you're exploiting out things that the Developers programmed in to balance things

It caters to you because you've already bothered to learn it, so it's understandable why taking out something you bothered to learn and get into the habit of doing would make the game seem less than what it was before, but I think overall it enhances the experience for the better.

I honestly don't think that eliminating 100% of all lag from an aerial attack upon landing is something we should let slide by and bring back into the game. It wasn't supposed to be there, it in some ways just breaks the play of the game IMO, I don't think it should be back

Also, Snaking can go to hell.
