....Okay you got me on that one. And after I think about it, I change my mind, I guess the destruction of the embryos during IVFs isn't that big a deal, since they are in a condition where they can't survive without conscious effort

Exactly what P said. By that logic cough syrup companies are to blame for kids getting high off cough syrup. They just put the cough syrup out there; whether people use them as they intended to is not their fault at all

Oh, are we using this thread to passive-aggressively vent about out parents? Wonderful!

Me: *in my room, on the computer*
Stepmom: *Opens the door without knocking* Hey, you fuсking pig, you left your towel on the floor in the bathroom. Pick it the fuсk up right now.
Me: Oh, I'm sorry, it must have fallen off the rack.
Stepmom: Don't lie to me you little fuсk, PICK IT UP.
Me: *Gets up and walks to the door*
Stepmom: *Shoves me into the wall the moment I walk past her*
Me: What the fuсk was that!?!?
Her: *grabs some glass mushroom thing of the shelf, throws it at me as hard as she can* DON'T YOU EVER FUСKING TALK TO ME LIKE THAT AGAIN. *Storms out of the house and I don't see her for 3 days*

All true by the way. She's not a very nice person.

Mom: Son, what are you doing?
    Me: Making ramen.
Mom: Son, it's 4 o'clock in the morning, why on Earth are you making ramen?
Me: Because I've lost control of my life.

(This actually happened except it was 8 AM. And my mom didn't get it. And it was glorious)

An embryo is a human because it can be defined as the earliest stage of humanity. Children and adults are at different phases of humanity, but still human. The embryo is at a state where all one has to do is live as they normally do, minus drinking and smoking and eating certain food, and the embryo eventually becomes a child, becomes, and adult, etc., but being human the entire time. A sperm and egg cannot be defined this way because it takes sex and a lot of random chance to become an embryo, whereas for an embryo to develop you basically only have to survive.

I don't have $599 to spend on an NGP. I've already got my 3DS preordered. I've never taken sides before this but consider me a Nintendo fanboy starting now.

Uh, yeah. If you have sex, you know there is a chance you may get pregnant and YOU have to deal with those consequences. Also, I have a friend who was adopted and he's seriously the happiest person I know. Sometimes adopted children get stuck with crappy parents. Sometimes children are BORN to the wrong parents. It happens. Murder is not an acceptable answer to it.

As in, completely separate? Because that would be a stupid and self contradictory definition. The male genitals are obviously designed to in one way or another be wasting millions of sperm every once in a while, as is the female body with eggs.An egg being fertilized, however, is much more rare and at that moment immediately becomes loads more valuable than just a sperm and an egg.

Complexity != moral value. You could argue that computers are more complex than human beings in some ways, that doesn't make them of higher moral value than us.

I am not okay with the morning after pills that destroy embryos. The ones that attempt to stop them from forming but won't stop existing pregnancies I'm fine with. Contraception (Like condoms, birth control, etc.) are also fine.
