Xane awoke a bit after Nulix did. He yawned and got ready for the race. It wouldn't be another few hours before the race. Xane decided to hit the breakfast buffet first.
"Thank you," Raijin nodded and walked off. *** "What do you want?" Xane asked "Where are we going?" Mellodia didn't speak until they reached one of the highest floors in the Bureau. Mellodia quickly opened a door with a swipe from her card key, before sitting down and saying, "There's something I need to tell you about the race," Mellodia said. "What?" Xane asked. "As you know the U.P.A is running the race. You probably also know about the group of Brotherhood participants in the race and that the U.P.A is currently at war with the Brotherhood...," Mellodia continued. "Yeah..." Xane nodded. "Well we'd like you to investigate their actions over the course of the-" Mellodia started. "Sorry. We already have enough pressure from Lexx to sign a partnership with the U.P.A, but I don't need any from you too," Xane said. "Listen," Mellodia said, angrily. "Just listen for a second. The U.P.A also has this...surprise obstacle. It hasn't been revealed to any of us, yet...but. Venture believes it could be dangerous to all of the other racers." "Right...I guess I'll help," Xane said. "Anything else?" "We might delay the race for a bit tomorrow and that's it," Mellodia said. "Alright then..." Xane said, walking out of the room. Deciding on the best place to look for information, Xane decided to look in the dinner buffet.
OOC: DarKnight, did you see my earlier post with Tul Raijin? BIC: Xane drove off, heading back towards the Bureau. Placing his ship in the garage, Xane walked to the lobby where he saw Mellodia. "Hey, Mell-," Xane began. "Can you follow me for a second?" Mellodia asked. "Okay, but-" Xane started again. "Just follow me," Mellodia said.
"You sure you can trust him?" Xane asked "I know he's our ally now, but something about that doesn't seem right." Xane then hopped back in the Magma Phaser and continued, "I'm gonna back to the Bureau. Might hang out in the lobby for a while and then go to my room."
"Yeah," Xane said, somewhat bitterly. " Too bad I lost to that Venture guy, though. What did Lexx say, anyway?"
Xane steered pass the smoldering piece of rubble that was once the black and red gummi. As he neared the finish line, an orange and black racer zommed pass him. The Sky Tiger had beaten him. Ahead of both of them was Nulix, and several U.P.A operated vehicles.
Xane figured that the only way through a sand storm was to rough it put. He followed Venture Jr. across the harsh winds and slammed into the side of the ship. Venture Jr. was shocked for a second, before slamming his ship back. Xane was about to speed ahead, before noticing a black and red gummi that was seeming to give everyone trouble as it passed by. Xane, Venture Jr, and a couple of other drivers seemed to have the same idea and raced after it.
Uh, okay then.
Boo? What do you mean by that?
OOC: What's that? We live in a world with talking rodents, you say? Yeah, I can buy the bullet thing. BIC: The other drivers began to do the same, following Nulix. Naturally, there were other drivers still ahead of them. One of them, the Sky Tiger, was driven by Venture Jr. Xane, seeing an opportunity to beat him in the race, sped past some of the others. to catch up with him and Nulix. Next obstacle appeared to be a sandstorm of some sort.
"Gotta catch up, Nulix!" Xane shouted back, using the last of his ion ammo to blast through the boulders. Regulations stated that once you ran out of ion ammo, you had to wait a ten minutes before they recharge. Xane paused with a large group of other racers as he drove over the hill and saw the next obstacle....It was a lake. A wide lake. The rest of the track was on the other side, but no one seemed to have any idea how to get across...
The same stunt wouldn't be possible for Xane. Instead he took a risk and charged straight trough the mines. The sounds of the false explosions were heard behind him. To his surprise, the damage deduction for his vehicle was minimal due to his ships' specialized armor. Xane used his sky lifters to leap ahead of a racer in front of him and started to catch up with Nulix. Catching, up with Nulix was one of the Brotherhood drivers that they had seen at the Bureau. Glancing at Nulix's vehicle for a second, he raced ahead. to the next obstacle, a rock slide. Several tumbling boulders raced down a hill in front of them.
Xane figured that his ship wasn't as maneuverable as Nulix's. It wasn't extremely bulky either, so he figured that with each turn he didn't make, he'd just fire a couple of hots at the wall and blow them to pieces. Xane caught up with Nulix now, and saw a couple of other racers ahead of them. They were all getting caught by the next obstacle. A mine field.
"Alright," Xane shouted, as his engines roared. "I'll star the count. Three...Two.....One!" And they were off. Nulix's vehicle was naturally faster than Xane's, but they managed to go around the same pace. The first obstacle appeared. A odd pattern of steel walls that forced the driver to steer around them. In this test run, all obstacles were virtual and therefore had no actual affect on the vehicle. Points would be deducted from the racer's high score at the end, however if they hit the obstacles. *** In Scourge's lair, another Brotherhood member swooped in, carrying a large object. Tul Raijin, nearly out of breath, presented a large cage to Scourge. In it, was the Virus. "Here it is. The Virus," Raijin gasped, muttering," Took me one hell of a long time to get this to you too."
Xane still waited for Nulix and Xardius to get their vehicles outside.
OOC: Uh, sure. PM me.
OOC: Yeah. Also if you can have someone attack Novice, or something. Not anyone like Enigma or Kardas, but someone...expendable.
OOC: You still online, DK?
OOC: See ya Nulix...
Xane and the Magma Phaser reached the test track. Xane waited for Nulix and Xardius to arrive. *** Novice continued to walk alone in the Dark Timeless River, remembering how far he had come since the last time he had visited there.
