"Would I lie about something like this?" She said sounding slightly indignant. "He's fine, just a bit burnt and a bit bruised. And he's not concious at the moment, but the shock from the blast can't be magicked away."
"Believe me Jordan, there's a lot of things you would do that I wouldn't." Casey said rolling his eyes as he looked around for another one of the vacant rooms. Elle followed Jordan into the room and sat down on one of the beds in the room. "Okay." Conni nodded. "We should be getting our owls tomorrow, right?"
Hermia looked up from her knees, her eye-liner streaming down her reddened face. "Put me on the phone to Dad." Ocean said upon hearing Mickey's voice in the background. "Please?"
"Should we go to bed too?" She suggested. "I don't think they really want us back in the meeting now." "Anyway!" Casey said, clapping his hands together. He was in a desperate rush to get the topic of him and Lyra out of the conversation as quickly as possible. "You guys take the bigger room, we'll take a smaller one."
Lake stifled a sob, she was now physically shaking with grief. "Hey!" Ocean's voice came down the phone, it sounded slightly rushed and there was a great deal of background noise. "Look, I don't know if they've broadcast it already or what, but I thought I should call you. River isn't dead, until I tell you otherwise, no matter what you hear, he's not dead. He's in hospital with me, okay? He's not exactly in top condition, but he's certainly not dead." She explained quickly, almost in one long breath.
"We're friends. That's it." Casey said rolling his eyes. "Sure, I believe you Casey." She sighed. "I hope so..."
Lake clutched tightly onto his shirt, silent tears of her own rolling down her face. She'd never been one to make a lot of noise when she cried, and now wasn't an exception. Even if it was one of the most, if not the, most devastating moments of her life.
"Might be for the best to have all three of you in a room, the idea of leaving those two on their own isn't exactly a thrilling one." Casey said, it wasn't that he didn't trust Jordan. It was that he didn't trust his sister. "Thanks bro." Elle said rolling her eyes. "But fine." "Why do you think they're here?"
Lake slowly wandered over to Mickey and patted his shoulder, half to try and support him and half in the hope that he'd get the message that she needed some support to. Even if it was just a hug.
"Well personally I don't like the idea of leaving the girls in a room on their own, just in case something does happen." Casey said, glancing at Lyra. "I am not sharing a room with you Casey." Elle said glaring darkly at her older brother. "F*ck that sh*t." "I hope they go soon..."
Hermia continued to sob, all dignity gone as she cried uncontrollably. She felt lost, more lost then when he'd left the first time. As this time, no matter what, it was forever.
"It was probably something to do with that lightening strike. Probably some kind of rouge magic or something unfortunate like that." Casey sighed, leaning against the wall. "Anyway, I think we should be more concerned with surviving here and getting home then how we got here in the first place." "Well... We won't be going anywhere tonight, so we might as well just sort out who's sleeping with who and whatever and talk about this more in the morning when we're awake. Who knows, maybe in the morning everything will make a lot more sense." "I really don't like them..." Conni sighed.
After a moment Hermia hid her face in her knees, a shuddering sob escaped from her. She didn't even seem to register that Mickey had said her name. "I know!" Lake snapped again. "But saying you hate him isn't going to bring him back!"
"Thank you." Casey smiled. "We'll leave you guys to sort it out." Conni said, wanting to get away from them as soon as possible. Casey was really starting to creep her out, she kept noticing more and more similarities between him and Scorpious...
Lake quickly marched over to the TV and turned it off. "Elena, now is not the time for a tantrum!" She snapped, her voice carrying an edge that it never had before. An edge that made her sound dangerous. Hermia continued to stare blankly, but slowly she sunk back into the sofa. She pulled her knees up under her chin and hugged her legs tightly, her breath rapid and ragged.
"Well then they can't be dangerous, just suspicious..." "So long as we don't do anything to damage the time line it'll be fine."
Hermia stared blankly at the TV, she felt as though she'd just had all her insides yanked out from inside of her in one go. Her eyes seemed blank, not even the glimmer of tears shined in her eyes. It was a level of devastation that not even tears could express. "Wh-What...?" Lake said, not daring to believe a word of what the television and her daughter said. "N-No wa-way..."
"Just play along with it until we figure out a way to get back, it's the only thing we can do..." He mumbled to Lyra as they walked along just behind the two 'girls' who would one day be their mothers. "I know..." Conni nodded as they turned to head up the stairs. "But the adults don't seem too suspicious..."
Hermia, who'd been sat on the sofa near to Elena also saw the TV. Her eyes widened in shock, what had he done? What had happened? What had they done? Her heart started to race as she snapped into a sitting up position, anxious to find out any more information. Lake wandered into the room just as Elena shouted at her father. "What's with you?" She asked, raising an eyebrow.
"It looks it..." Casey said, looking around. He was trying his best to sound as though he'd never been in the house before in his life. Conni nodded and headed towards the door. "And as most of the people here don't actually live here there's more then enough rooms free..." She said quietly.
