Torrin said nothing and mercifully Boreas himself escaped the vengeance of the great machine, Take however didn't seem to fare so well, the kid was hit hard, but he was tough as nails as even after being beaten down that hard, the kid got back up. Tinarah was already on the job of making sure Take didn't go down. As Torrin cast his eyes his way, Boreas looked back, smiled a little and nodded. Just like old times... the words played through his mind, the two of them had backed each other up time and again, lending a hand in a fight. "Just a little more! One final push! Give it your all!" Boreas shouted as he drew on Torrin's power, shifting his keyblade once more into the crossbow and fired a frozen bolt at the great machine, the bolt itself seemed to glow more intensely strengthen by Torrin's magical power, before changing it back once more to the glaive-guisarme and hacking away at the weakened frozen components of the big mechanical hat. This machine wasn't looking in too good a shape. They damaged the machine quite a bit in their first charge, they could take this machine down. As the machine dug the rocks through the ground Boreas rammed on the activator and have the armour form up around him. The debris flying his way bounced pinged off his armour. However some debris was big enough to still leave its mark on him. Take after being hit by some particularly large chunks of debris seemed to go into a battle rage, just like he had the day before except it seemed a lot more contained than his unbridled rage. Torrin joined him fighting side by side and told him it was just like old times. "Yeah... it is just like old times." Boreas said, since Torrin had left he had fought beside many a comrade, it was nice that his oldest friend wasn't gone like some of his other comrades. Boreas forced himself to focus on the fight and not go down that rabbit hole, he was in battle and he needed to focus. Boreas decided to target the same spots he had before first with a powerful overhead slash, slamming the blade onto armour plates hoping to force the hole bigger, before swirling back around shifting his keyblade into the crossbow, taking aim with and firing another ice bolt into the weakened spot freezing the components, before shifting back to his Glaive-guisarme again and slashing at the frozen components to shatter the ice and more parts of the machine. Boreas made short work of the hero in front of him releasing him from the bowler hat's control. When Darkwing praised him for his work Boreas grinned. "Thanks, you're pretty great too." Boreas said they had liberated the heroes from the control of the hats. "Alright everyone, we get in there to support the others..." Then there was another voice from the sky, people around here really enjoyed litterally talking down to everyone here. Darkwing asked him whether he had anything bigger than the repeating crossbow. "I don't have a Ballista or Trebuchet if that's what you're asking, but this thing has some different more potent munitions." Boreas watched as the other came out of the warehouse to go on the attack. Take and Chrono lead the charge followed by Tinarah. Boreas shifted his attention, absent-mindedly shifting his blade into the crossbow again. "Alright everyone attack that thing. We need to bring it down right now before it lays waste to this city. Target the weakspots, joints in the legs, weaknesses in it's armour if it has any after all those tiny ones were flimsy perhaps this one is too. If we all focus on it we can break this thing! Show this pathetic villain our fury! Drag him out of that machine of his so we may end this!" Boreas shouted as he tried to inspire his fellows to spur them to greater feats of martial prowess. After that Boreas remaining standing on his rooftop took aim and fired a set of ice bolts that crashed into the mech as he channeled the Blizzara through his crossbow and then shifted the keyblade into his Glaive-Guisarme and followed Take and Chrono in the charge slashing and jabbing at exposed joints and parts of the legs. With Conrad in his gear he waited for the plan to start. Samuel attracted the attention of the great serpent blinding it with his sun magic. Everette followed suit leading the charge with his copies. Following suit Conrad made his move, he charged to the river side then went up a boulder and leaped, the extra momentum from his speed caused him to sail through the air with a faint purple glow trailing after him. As he flew he scribled the runes across his sword. He sailed through the air and headed for the snake's back, as he got closer he saw the moonlight reflect on it's skin, except that it wasn't its skin that was reflecting but rather the sheen of some liquid that covered the serpents hide. As he got closer the smell only got worse, it smelled like the water but the stench was overpowering even in his helmet. As Conrad landed he jammed his sword down into a snake's skin unleashing the rune's powers in a flash of purple. As Conrad got a solid grip and found his balance he withdrew his sword from the creature's skin. And started to move towards the head of the creature charging a ball of lightning within his free hand. He had to get around the spikes on the rather slippery back of the serpent heading for the head. As he moved forward the rows of spikes turned into one and he had to clamber over them then finally reaching near the head Conrad used the lightning ball like a hammer to beat away one of the spikes and the scale it was on. Conrad started to feel tired but that was just from using his armour spell wasn't it? He focussed on getting the spike away. If it was away he could jam his sword down with ease to pierce the spinal cord and end the threat immediately, he just hoped Samuel and Everette could buy him enough time.
Boreas' accurate fire kept the heroes grouped up enough and his silver bolts coupled with her form and Darkwings smoke bought Tinarah enough time to dispatch the hats that controlled them, that left just Frozone that was coming for both him and Darkwing duck. He was getting near the top. Boreas took aim and fired a quick volley straight for the bowler hat that was controlling the hero, he might hurt him, but to Boreas this was kill or be killed, if he could save Frozone then fine but if not he would put him down. As Frozone got closer Boreas shifted his keyblade into it's Glaive-Guisarme form as Frozone came up he used the back end of the haft swinging at the knee, then swinging back around to cleave down with the blade towards the hat. Just for good measure Boreas charged his foe and went for an elbow to the bowler hat.
The Green wonder? Well his cloak was green as was a good portion of his outfit and while he had dubbed himself the Emerald Herald this worked just as well, Darkwing didn't seem to be too great with names as he named Tinarah the blonde wonder, but it hardly mattered. The duck had his quirks but he was willing to at least agree to a plan and carry it out. Torrin told him to start smashing, but he had to wait for Tinarah to get into position. He just gave his friend a thumbs up, still taking aim and waiting for Tinarah to get in position. "Don't worry Tinarah, this thing here packs quite the punch, we'll keep them busy for as long as necessary." Boreas said. As Tinarah clambered down he waited within the shadows he caught her nod and he started to unleash hell with volleys of silver magical bolts, the bolts headed for the crates with Boreas firing quickly and as accurately as he could while keeping this firing rate up which wasn't as easy as it looked. The bolts left silver streaks as they headed for their targets after an opening volley he stopped for a moment. "HEY, UP HERE! SEE IF YOU HEROES CAN STAND UP TO THE WRATH OF THE GREEN WONDER!" Boreas shouted standing up to make himself more noticable, after that he kept firing to keep them grouped and heading for him.
Boreas listened to the newly formed plan taking some amusement about Torrin and Darkwings rivalry, Torrin didn't like the duck too much even less so when the Duck came up with the same plan that he had. They were to split into two groups Boreas didn't mind being teamed up with Tinarah too much, he'd work with anyone as long as they could pull their weight, hold their own and do their job. He was curious to see how well Darkwing would hold up in a fight, but it didn't matter too much. "Alright, sounds like a plan. Good luck out there." He said giving his friend a pat on the shoulder. "Alright Darkwing, you and me will remain on this rooftop, as Tinarah goes down on the ground uses her magic to try and put them to sleep, then we'll take out the hats when they are asleep." Boreas said. "As we saw yesterday in the tunnels those hats may re-assemble and as Take pointed out we may need to deal with reinforcements. If this plan doesn't work we go in, full force make sure Tinarah has back up." Boreas held the repeating crossbow in both hands, resting it idly in his grip. The wing motif decorated the side of his crossbow, with the wing unfurling from the front of the weapon, it was the favourite aspect of his keyblade, the wing. "Alright since we all know what to do we'll get in position and get started, let's not keep them waiting." With that Boreas took up his position and took aim prepared to lay down a hail of fire should it come to it.
Conrad quickly wrote out a selection of runes on his lower arm and was encased in heavy black armour, despite the look of how heavy it seemed it made him faster, which against this serpent would be rather welcome. After that he quietly drew his sword. "Alright then, if you blind it with the moonlight, Everette and I will go for the eyes if possible, then I'll try and get on it's back this armour will make sure I am not in direct contact with anything." Conrad started and thought Samuel made a very good point, even with the speed from his armour he would be hard pressed to actually cut off the tongue and if it lashed to get out of the way of those fangs, his armour was strong and could take quite a beating but it wouldn't hold very long of those fangs came down. "You're right, no need to increase risk, go straight for the death blow. If you blind it and Everette goes for the eyes, I'll see if I can get on it's back, try and sever the spinal cord." Conrad said through the rather imposing looking helmet. "I'm protected by the armour I can try and climb onto it or jump from one of the trees while you keep it distracted." Conrad continued, the smell was getting worse. With a snake that size piercing its skin would prove difficult to do with a sword and he didn't care any other weapons on him at the moment not even an improvised one like an axe, but he could fill in with magic. "That really doesn't smell good, if that's coming from the snake, I'd imagine it wouldn't be good to touch it directly... even with my armour I'm not sure but it's out best bet." Conrad said following along remaining wary, a serpent that big around and people actively poisoning the water supply he wouldn't be surprised if there were others and kept his eyes peeled.
Boreas flew along with Chrono. "I'm just going off what I was taught and am not the most knowledgable on the subject, it's my best guess even if it's kind of strange." Boreas said, it had been a Realm of Light problem and the Realm of Darkness had some more pressing concerns than focus on the problems of the other Realm. As Torrin called for the warehouse up ahead he followed his lead and landed on the roof, rather unceremoniously dropped and jogged a little bit o stop himself and stopped by Torrin. The situation was analyzed and was rather amused by Darkwing Duck's analysis of the situation and Torrin just playing along not even arguing. "Surprise and being outnumbered, makes more of a difference than you might think Chrono, heroes or not a good surprise attack has ended the life of many a hero as did being outnumbered. Sure our numerical advantage isn't much, but our targets are relatively fragile we should be able to get rid of them easily enough. Furthermore we ought to be wary of them re-assembling like they did down in the tunnels." Boreas said, then Tinarah came with a plan as well and just to make a point Boreas shifted his keyblade into the Repeating Crossbow and rested it on his shoulder. "I can cover you." Boreas said "If they're out of commision it would help taking care of this but if this goes all wrong, we're going in for a straight up fight." Boreas continued. "What do you think, Torrin?" He was prepared to go in head long into battle. "Also Darkwing, do you have anything to offer?" Boreas asked, it had been a hit and a miss with the Duck but he was willing to risk it as long as he didn't do anything rash to throw their plans out of the window.
Boreas listened to what Chrono had to say, so apparantly this was before the events of yesterday, which wasn't too much of a surprise given the fact Take had talked about it the other day. Which meant that they could have lost the second light the other day had things gone any different. He wasn't entirely certain about who could be this second pure light, having been taught about the princesses of heart the name to him discounted the option of it being Glyde, Take or Chrono himself. They had Illiana, Tinarah and Qamar with them, but having seen that picture she showed him, having seen the armour of one of the people in the picture being from his home he discounted her, just like Chrono had. He had been taught they were a Realm of Light 'problem' other than making sure all of them wouldn't fall in the wrong hands. So that left Tinarah and Illiana, both of which had been at significant risk the other day. "Hmmm, well I've been taught that it's mostly a Realm of Light issue but it was suggested that the gender was a requirement." Boreas said looking at Chrono. "So that would leave Tinarah or Illiana and I really wouldn't be too certain which of the two it ought to be...." Boreas had his issues with Tinarah but he couldn't let that cloud his judgement in this regard, there was still the possibility of it but... why then would she be sent to another Realm entirely, the Light Chaser was a cunning opponent, Boreas figured he'd know if he had his hands on one. "Now that I think of it, I'd honestly guess it's Illiana." Boreas said "The Light Chaser had Tinarah captured, he has shown skill and intelligence so far, he'd recognize it if she were one and not send her into some other Realm." Now that was still an assumption but based on previous evidence it at least made sense.
Boreas smiled a little Chrono knew he almost had no choice but to answer. So there was potentially another pure light in their group? Interesting. "Do you know how long ago that conversation took place or anything else about this supposed second pure light? And well at least you have the decency to ask about secrets rather than just listening in on something you weren't supposed to hear." Boreas said. He wasn't too sure about what this would all mean other than perhaps them having more pieces in the game against the Light Chaser, especially if the Light Chaser wasn't aware of those pieces. Sure it was still not entirely right that Torrin had to defend his every move in the eyes of some people. He remained on the rear of their formation with Chrono, he was at the very least willing to practice what he preached which was a good thing, perhaps his initial questions might lead to a rather nice conversation, he hardly knew anything about Chrono and it might help knowing what sort of person he was at the very least he didn't need to be yelled at the other day for not following instructions, which in Boreas' eyes a good thing, fewer people that needed to be yelled into the proper action and could actually follow instructions smoothed out their fights.
Boreas was flying along following Darkwing Duck through the city, he had missed the entirety of Tinarah asking about Mika and Torrin talking to Nini as he had forged on ahead of the others in pursuit of their feathery ally. Torrin was starting to catch up as were the others and because of the bowler hats that were mentioned he was reminded of something that was said in the tunnels between Take and Chrono. Take had mentioned something about listening in on Torrin and Thallasa to Chrono. Boreas hadn't followed the entirety of the conversation as he had been in the midst of battle but he still had to ask about it and right now they weren't in battle sure they were heading for one but that meant there was still time to inquire about it. "Torrin can you take over the lead for a minute I need to talk to someone." Boreas said to his friend as he started to fall to the rear of the line, he didn't look at Tinarah and Take that were deep in conversation, however he fell back to the rear of the group following Darkwing Duck and flew alongside Chrono that tailed the group on his hoverboard. Take may have been occupied, but Chrono wasn't and perhaps as a little justice in his eyes it was time to see if Chrono practiced what he preached. "Hey Chrono, I wanted to ask about something. The other day down in the tunnels in the middle of combat Take and you were talking about something, I heard something about Take overhearing Thallasa and Torrin talking, what was that all about?" Boreas asked, here was hoping that this wouldn't turn out like with his sister who he didn't get along too well with, at least they hadn't gotten off on the wrong foot and he didn't have to tell him that whatever this other realm version did weren't his actions.
Torrin wanted him to take care of the Duck, which was fine by him, he didn't seem too troublesome. And while the usefulness of the feathery individual remained to be seen, Torrin wanted to keep an eye on him. It then proved that his questions provided a clue and probably the best lead they had so far, their opponents had fallen back and regrouped to another location. With Torrin asking more into it it seemed that this little encounter was turning into something fruitful as the Duck poked fun at Torrin Boreas chuckled at his friends expense, the Duck certainly was an excentric individual being more concerned about their dress than what they were doing but as Darkwing started showing the way Boreas started following the Duck hearing Take ask if they were gonna head out, not seeing the cat haning from Torrin's leg annoyed at being ignored. "Yes, come on we're burning sunshine here." He said as he leaped off the building, not breaking his stride forming his glider beneath him, falling onto it and immediately following the duck that swung through the city.
Thankfully Boreas wasn't the only one to really acknowledge the duck and talk to him as Chrono built on the questions he had asked, Tinarah seemed rather content to just watch from afar and Take simply moved to the opposite side, the repositioning telling of distrust, simply placing himself in a more advantageous position should they get in trouble. Torrin didn't seem to approve entirely of his playing along , eventhough Torrin had told him to play along just the other day. As the duck recounted what had happened to him Torrin asked if he could borrow Boreas for a moment and when the Duck was done signing the cape, Boreas obliged. Torrin informed them that this duck was probably sucked into this world when his own fell and weren't supposed to inform him of it. "I don't know what you are on about." Boreas simply said, feigning ignorance. "And really if you don't like the prospect of it but still feel like we need to keep an eye on him, I'll just keep him out of your hair." Boreas said, remaining sharp and wary of his surroundings. He turned back to the duck. "So you lost conciousness, what can you tell me about all that happened after you regained conciousness? Obviously you spoke to people, did you notice anything unusual at all other than the city having changed and people having forgotten about you and your heroic deeds?" Boreas asked, it was quite the possibility that the duck didn't know anything useful but if Torrin insisted on keeping an eye on him, Boreas wanted a way to get him to tag along with them, see if he knew anything useful. At the very least if this duck were a hero he'd fit in nicely in this world if his own was truly lost to darkness.
Boreas ignored Tinarah's comment to not fight regarding their gliders, they weren't fighting at all and Boreas had simply placed a comment. As Torrin explained what he had seen Boreas looked a little around the rooftop, glaive in hand. Then the voice started speaking and Boreas fell back to where the others were still gathered, standing before Torrin, Glaive in both hands. The terror that flapped in the night? Were they to meet a wyvern? out here? If it was Boreas was prepared to fight it. The phone that rang in the theater? What was a phone? Probably something that disturbed the peace and quiet. The squeaky floorboard that woke you in the night? He knew he was a very light sleeper but a squeaky floorboard wouldn't wake even him up, it was just another sound of the building really and hardly anything to worry about. The hangnail that brought pain? Well hangnails were definitely irritating but nothing too bad. As the supposed villain revealed himself, Boreas was rather surprised that the voice belonged to what looked like a large duck. "Sure go ahead, sign my cape if you want to." Boreas said as he lowered his guarded stance and put the Glaive at rest by his side. "We got word that all the heroes within the city had gotten captured while they tried to set things straight after yesterdays events. Seeing you are here and thus clearly not captured you probably weren't busy yesterday with the other heroes were you? Either that or you are very good at evading capture or hiding. I don't suppose you know anything about where the heroes all disappeared to or how they all got captured?" Boreas asked as he stepped towards the duck, remaining wary, this could still be a trap after all especially considering how the villains had shown their capacity for traps and ambushes.
Everette didn't seem to like the idea of splitting up which was fair enough. He didn't really agree with the sentiment of the people betraying them, there didn't seem to be much motif for it especially if all the water supplies were tainted, they were all in the same boat in this town. Furthermore if they had someone on the inside they didn't need to kill the guards. That they were waiting outside of town could still be a possibility if they knew they were here this would draw them out, but he wasn't entirely wrong. As Everette created the clones he felt a little bit safer not much as it only really protected Everette from getting targeted. As they travelled down the road it wasn't very eventful, the light of the moon sometimes left them as clouds passed over it, but it would always return the sound of owls hooting and nocturnal animals rustling through the underbrush accompanied them and while Conrad was a little on edge being out here at night it had more to do with the fact they could be attacked out of the dark and having had some rather bad experiences previously on missions and that was without ambushes. They were getting closer to the river and there was a foul smell carried to his nose on the wind, the same foul smell the poisoned water had. If it were this strong here near the river how much poison were they using? His question was answered as he heard the hissing and saw the giant serpent loom over the trees, a big shadow against the moonlight, it's eyes glowing. Samuel grabbed him by the shoulder and asked him whether anyone hadn't seen this before he hadn't heard anyone about a giant serpent. And they had checked the river out according to the Chief, that meant the Serpent had been hidden perhaps? The conflict in his head played up again wishing Lakoda were here with him to slay the serpent, as the two of them had gained a knack for casting down monsters. They would make short work of it if it were the two of them present but no matter they'd still take it out. "I don't know, perhaps it hid in the river itself or somewhere else in these forests?" Conrad said keeping his voice down. "Either way we can't let this thing live. I'd suggest we try and blind it, eyes first tongue next, after that it should be easier to deliver the killing blow... unless you want to try and use a diversion while we kill it, but I'd say it's safer to just blind it." Conrad said, he had a good idea as to where to deliver it if he could get through the scales but either way they would do well to blind it first.
Boreas was debating whether to openly ask Chrono why Torrin had to justify hanging around Aria. But before he could really decide on it Torrin gave a half answer to Chrono which was perfectly fine by him. It just rubbed him the wrong way that his friend was being put on the spot like that having to defend his simple presence near someone. It was his choice who he hung around with. There was a silhouette ahead of them and Torrin pulled straight up. Boreas stood up in a low crouch pulled on the handles and pushed down to pull up his glider alongside Torrin racing up verticly to the top of the building. Boreas followed Torrin's example Boreas too changed his keyblade back midflight landing to the right of his friend. Take argued to not do that risky a landing again with a gust of wind sending it into a plunge into oblivion. "Well should you come up short just form up your glider again and continue, but I get why you wouldn't want to do that at this point." Boreas said, he shifted his blade slowly but surely into it's glaive-guisarme form. "It should still be here right? We ought to look around the rooftop, see if we can find anything of it's wherabouts." Boreas said as he stepped down from the ledge beside Torrin to start looking.
Boreas didn't say anything, he couldn't exactly blame them for being curious and disliking the secrets especially when Torrin himself disliked the council for their secrets. At least Chrono was direct about it and not beating around the bush. He listened as Torrin gave a short summary of what happened in those six years since he had left. He had been fighting in a war, a different war than this one. While the opposing sides were significantly smaller it was still a war. Torrin mentioned the instructions that the master had told him before passing. To protect the light, a look of amusement played across Boreas' face for a moment. "I can attest what Torrin said regarding the Light Chaser's strength, I didn't cross blades with him myself that time, but he is very strong, it was obvious from the fight I witnessed." Boreas said, backing up the claim of Torrin that the Light Chaser was more powerful than any member of the Council, simply because their strongest members were there that time and he still single-handedly beat them back. Hearing Tinarah speak like that simply irritated Boreas, it was almost as if she admitted projecting the other Torrin onto this one not wanting to see what was in front of her. He cast a quick glance to Torrin, almost wanting to voice his irritation but the look on Torrin's face told him to keep quiet. At the very least she was seeing now that this Torrin wasn't the same as the version she encountered in this supposed other realm, he supposed that was something. It had been something he had told her from the stat but she didn't believe him. The other Torrin wanted to destroy the light and finish the old war, but the instability that would bring would destroy everything. It was why they had halted their advance during the old war, to make sure that didn't happen. Either way it didn't matter right now and Boreas kept his mouth shut.
Boreas checked again to see if they followed his advice and it seemed to help them a little bit. Chrono was even gaining on Torrin and him little by little. Tinarah even thanked him, but Boreas didn't respond to it. Torrin mentioned that if he had wanted thrilling he'd spar with him or Nora, Boreas had sparred a few times with Nora, she was an alright sparring partner, different from Torrin's style but still very skilled. In the years of Torrin's absence Boreas had stilled sparred here and there but less and less frequent as duties were taking up more of his time. "For me the sparring was just another form of training to be honest, although lately it has become more of a past-time for me. But it wasn't just another game for me like Ride the Wyvern." Boreas said. Chrono finally caught up to them and Boreas raised an eyebrow at the question raised. Considering what preceded it the question didn't seem very specificly formulated like Chrono wanted to know something but he could understand the problem with the hypocrisy, then again everyone was a hypocrit in one way or another. He listened to Torrin's answer explaining what was on his mind. An aerial battle would not be a very good idea, Boreas could easily handle himself on his glider, handle himself well, but with Chrono and Tinarah having trouble controlling their gliders that would make them easy pickings to tip the balance in the villains' favour. As for using the fighting against the villains to gauge their capabilities Boreas had full confidence in his abilities and didn't think he would have to sit out going into the darkness alongside his old friend. "I don't fancy our chances in an aerial battle, you and me could hold our own but I can't be sure that can be said of all..." Boreas said, if it came to that he'd tell those that weren't skilled enough to land to provide support from the ground or rooftops in the form of magic, but he hoped it wouldn't come to that even if he felt a lot better than the day before.
As Conrad rejoined the others he was wearing the rather simple necklace with the duck feather around his neck. Renza had told him to be careful and he had promised her he would be, just like he had promised her they would return as soon as they could. Having joined Samuel he was informed of the situation, it hadn't just been the water supply of the inn but it was throughout the village that the rain water supplies were tainted. "This is bad... if they poisoned all the water supplies in such a short notice I am hesitent to say it's just one person doing all this... the guards being dead suggests the same thing being the case, unless they got the drop on them or something of the sort." Conrad followed Samuel and Everette as they headed to the river the moon lighting their way at least a little bit. As Samuel mentioned being pushed before Conrad threw in his two cents. "We've all been pushed before, this situation is far from ideal but we can all do it. We have no other choice really..." Conrad said, his thoughts drifted to the times he had pushed himself so hard, like the one where he had raced back to the Guild in the middle of the night, he had been exhausted and drained. He hoped however that this night he didn't have to push himself that far. He had been prepared to push himself farther that night but it hadn't been necessary, he was prepared to do it again after all he had made a promise and that meant he had to give it his all. What Samuel mentioned about the potential of a trap made him think. Now that he thought about it it made a lot of sense to look at it that way. Especially when someone was in the village poisoning the supplies the day they had showed up to try and resolve this issue. It did indeed all seem rather suspicious. "Have they seen us enter the village then or figured out we were there some other way? In case of a trap, we'll stick together? That way we can't be picked off one by one and it allows us to concentrate our efforts, unless you want to try and split up, have two go in and number three show up once the trap is sprung but that seems unnecessarily risky..." Conrad said, keeping his voice low, if they had been in the village there was always the chance they were around now.
