Oh look another "HEY THERE ARE CERTAIN MEMBERS HERE (OR NOT HERE) LET'S TALK ABOUT IT" thread
I'd have been ok with a bit more on Mako, as well as having seen Pentecost's sister dying, the reason why he joined the Kaiju War. Also, I was typing up a rant about the film, but it basically boils down to this: Pacific Rim is the most fun I've had watching a film of this scale in a long time, and I'll take that, along with it's pretty stale writing and mostly typical characters, over another boring pretentious grungy drama-fest about superheroes not doing anything super for half a movie. Pacific Rim has a good emotional core, albeit mostly unexplored, but I prefer something lite like this to something dragged on and horribly managed (cough The Dark Knight Rises cough)
Though it's talking about Avengers, this pretty much reflects why I personally love the film. It doesn't try to be all gritty, super-realistic, intensely dramatic (which, with films like this, usually just ends up making the film look pretentious and silly.) And honestly, what would you have done differently in this film? Like, what scenes would you add or change? Spoiler For me, I agree with some people that the final battle could have been a bit more...battle-heavy. The Hong Kong fight was like, the biggest action scene in the film.
Soooooo PACIFIC RIM WAS FUCKING AWESOME OK. The spectacle...yeah, beats everything this year and most of this decade. The setting was awesome, and honestly (besides the obvious Jaegers being impossible in reality and other things) felt very believable to me. The characters were simple WHICH IS OK because they were done well, especially Charlie Day and Idris Elba. There wasn't any part of the film where I was like "Ok, that was just stupid," and that's rare for me in summer blockbuster films like this. The music...worked, I honestly can't remember any specific themes. The pacing was good, though some parts kinda confused me with the timeframe of events in the film. Uh...dunno what else to say really. GIANT ROBOTS FIGHTING GIANT MONSTERS FUCK OFF WITH THAT GROWN UPS 2 SHIT THIS IS LIKE THE FILM I'VE BEEN WAITING FOR MY WHOLE LIFE THANK GOD IT DIDN'T FAIL
Cougar on cougar action. I KNOW SHE'S NOT THAT OLD SHUT UP ITS MY JOKE.
Alright, just PM'd him. Thanks bro :D
Agreed. I was watching one of the newer episodes yesterday, and it felt like they were making so many references, but without actual punchlines, along with a clusterfuck plot that just seemed way too wacky and incoherent.
So when they decided to bring the show back? Cause that's when most any Futurama fan will agree it should have just stayed dead, although I personally can still enjoy some of the newer episodes
...
Tight. Ass. Gameplay. I don't want too many freaking quick-time events. I don't want auto-saves (as unlikely as that would be in an RPG.) I don't want to ever have to feel like grinding is necessary. Story is debatable if it's well done. Gameplay, on the other hand...
Oh I don't ever look at post counts so I did miss that
Trying to keep my cool...
Only halfway? :|
Stop talking and help me kill Flood you damn floating piece of tin.
I read it. Actually saw a few episodes of Firefly. Liked it. The other two, haven't seen yet.
To be fair, I don't think this is essentially a bad thing to be known for. It' just...well, a thing to be known for?
To be fair, Vivid has battled me in Pokemon as well.
I don't care what "Americans" say about the "Japanese," I myself think it's just an easy trick to keep the (mostly male) audience's interest. It works for some, but for me, the style (which includes the fan service) better not be a substitute for the substance.
While I won't disagree on the opening thing, I've another running gag that I can't find a video compilation of: the fall-into-boob-grab cliche. It's overdone and, frankly, not funny anymore. I'm a straight guy that can enjoy some fan service (Blair from Soul Eater, Yoko from Gurren Lagann, etc) but the whole "OH WHOOPS I SLIPPED AND CONVENIENTLY PERFECTLY OUTREACH MY HAND(S) TO GROPE YOUR BREASTS M'BAD," makes it hard for me to stick with an anime.
