Although, back in the old days, the first thing I would check was rep because damn that was exciting.

It's been a while since I have read the books and no I haven't spent my classes analysing them xD but I think the books are great! Katniss can appear an uncaring and standoffish character but I kind of see that she has had to be quite maternal and had to grow up a lot faster than supposed to which could be why she developed such a tough skin for the world and doesn't let many people in. Of course, she is increadibly caring as you will see through her dedication to Prim, her sister. She is angry a lot but again I can just see that from her psychology (I won't elaborate because spoilers).

Also, on the topic of it being rushed into trusting someone, I think Katniss feels lonely and because this girl reminds her of her sister she feels more homely with her and if there is anyone in the world that Katniss trusts and loves wholeheartedly it's her sister. Plus

she probably realises that if Rue wanted to kill her then she would have done it already instead of treating her wounds with leaves and stuff.

I think you can really see how she develops through the story- this was one thing I thought was quite good because of everything that happens of course she is going to go a little mad.

I personally think reading the books is a good thing just to see for yourself because everyone will view them differently. I think I enjoyed them a lot more a while ago compared to if I was to read them now because I have an English a level and GCSE between the first reading so I had no idea what good writing was.
