In case you guys haven't heard, there was a lot of controversy in the past few weeks about the passing of State Bill 1062 in Arizona, intended to amend Section 41-1493 of the Arizona Revised Statutes, which essentially prevents "any law, including state and local laws, ordinances, rules, regulations and policies" from "substantially burden[ing]" a person's exercise of religion, unless the burden is the least restrictive means of furthering a "compelling government interest."

SB1062 was going to extend said protection from "a religious assembly or institution" to include "any individual, association, partnership, corporation, church," "estate, trust, foundation or other legal entity."

In simplistic terms? The bill would basically allow for religious-freedom to be an acceptable claim or defense in lawsuits "regardless of whether the government is a party to the proceeding." This means that businesses could legally refuse to serve members of the LGBT community on the grounds of using free exercise of religion to defend their own discriminatory acts.

As you can imagine, anyone within earshot of the bill who at all shows sympathy for the LGBT community opposed the bill, and luckily enough, my own state governor vetoed SB 1062 (though honestly it took far too long to make such a seemingly easy decision.)

    Thoughts?

For myself, while I think it's perfectly fine to give religious people a legal right to exercise their beliefs, there needs to be a limit to what those beliefs are: discriminating against people for their sexual orientation or state should never be defended, and it seems like this bill goes against the belief in the separation between church and state.

Here's a full text of the bill if you want to see.

Putting Dream Drop Distance against Re: Chain of Memories....ouch.

Oh well, I enjoyed the crazy freedom of movement and Dream Eaters over the shitty worlds in RE:COM, even if RE:COM had the much better focused plot.

Not really. As I've told other people, while I enjoyed the anime, the characters and dialogue and story are a lot less well-done than the conflicts, because the action scenes are amazing and anything else is kinda bland.

I think I need to do a certain character some justice: Senketsu.

Out of all the great supporting characters, Senketsu is the best one, even exceeding Mako for me. Ryuko not only needs Senketsu to empower her physically, but also mentally and spiritually. And yet there's still room for Senketsu to be his own character, rather than just being a plot piece for making Ryuko look better. He wants to see the defeat of tyrannical characters, and even after being told the purpose of his very creation, he has the conviction to attempt to carry out his own goals, though he goes through his own existential crisis.

Episode 19 had one Senketsu's best moments so far:
Senketsu holding the red Scissor Blade in his mouth and pulling Ryuko out of the rubble. We visually see him care for her and struggle with his own physical state to see her taken care of.

    Broketsu is best bro.

The new trailer only serves to instill more hope in me that the new film will do the monster justice. The cast looks great, the sound and visual design look great, the dedication to showing just how massive and powerful Godzilla is is great, and that roar.

    2014's looking good.

I'm just...confused as to why they're choosing to continue this series. Nobody's talking about it (except now, of course,) and the last time the series was relevant, it was hugely flawed (season 3 and season 4 ugh.)

Perhaps it's an attempt at emulating the success being seen by Marvel's recent films. That seems like the best explanation so far.

I don't know how to feel about Heroes Reborn to be honest. I loved the first two seasons of the original Heroes TV series, but once season 3 started, the writing became a mess, and so I kind of fear that eventually this new series will hit that wall too.

Well, the final boss wasn't underwhelming, but I was just confused that it wasn't as clearly the finale, since the other Kingdom Hearts games are pretty clear about the player progressing to the final battle.

The normal attacks are especially good if you lengthen your combos (like in previous games.)

Around 40 hours. Spent some time grinding though so I could get Tyranto Rex, Ryu Dragon, and Skelterwild, as well as to unlock certain abilities that each of those Dream Eaters had.

Well, I just finished the game last night/this morning, and...the ending was kind of disappointing. Lots of build up to a cliffhanger. Hell, I didn't even know I was fighting the final boss. I expected one more encounter, but nope, last cut scenes rolled and then credits.

Well, once you build enough Attack Boosts and have a Keyblade that's respectable in Strength, your basic attacks will be carrying you, since you'll be needing those while your Attack and Magic commands reload. The amount of enemies really start to stack up near the end of the game, where Zero Graviza just makes everything so much easier since you'll be avoiding getting staggered every few seconds (or worse, grabbed by some of the strongest Dream Eaters.)

There is an item that prevents Drops, but...frankly, I almost never use items in Kingdom Hearts games, so I didn't even bother.

The cast in Kill la Kill is seriously so great, I couldn't say there isn't someone I like (except for that one filler girl in one of the earlier episodes.)

I love Ryuuko when she's not being a moody bitch (ahem episode 19,) because I enjoy her positive attitude and snarky remarks, especially toward Satsuki.

Also, Satsuki. She's got the kind of calm demeanor fueled by conviction that works well to me, and I love seeing her get genuinely angry.

    And the second question....really? REALLY?

I think that, while the game has the best utilization of vertical space since the first Kingdom Hearts (I HATED how everything in Kingdom Hearts II was just FLAT,) it takes far too long for the actual plot to pick up. After the first world, much of what you do feels so separated from the actual main storyline, you almost wonder if you really need to be doing that stuff. But when the plot does pick up...I'll say that it is quite interesting what happens. Won't spoil much, but I kinda like the crazy plot so far. Much more interesting to me than Kingdom Hearts II's plot post-Roxas playing.

Also, combat in the game seems a lot more focused on spamming Magic, since I've found most Attack commands inferior in power and utility, except for the two-slot commands like Sonic Blade and Dark. Except for boss battles, Zero Graviza, Sparkga, Balloonga, and other area-of-effect spells destroy enemies.

I actually don't mind the character switching, as it keeps things from feeling stale, but it is a huge issue when it occurs during a boss battle. Luckily, that rarely has happened for me.

Flowmotion is pretty cool, although I mainly just use it for mobility purpose. Riku sorely lacks an ability like Sora's superglide, because the maps are simply too large when you just need to run through to find a certain section. Combat-wise, it's strong enough to be useful without being overpowered (except for early in the game, where it feels stronger than anything else you could do.)

I already have Second Chance, but the bosses near the end have such ridiculous combos that I feel the need to grind for Once More, especially since I'm playing on Proud Mode.

I'm nearly at the finale of Kingdom Hearts: Dream Drop Distance, but I think I'll just grind it out a bit longer to get some really sweet abilities, like Once More and Mega Flare.

However, STOP WHEN SEASON 2 IS OVER. Because season 3 is when the show went to shit.
