Time for more people to hype the hell out of it and call it the best anime in years. I mean, it's pretty good, with some tense-as-hell situations and great action scenes, but the pacing gets terribad at points and the characters aren't really that interesting.

As Takyon put it well, they serve a huge purpose for the series' themes and story. And this comes from someone who generally heavily dislikes fan service in anime. As for Samus wearing them...yeah, she doesn't hold swords in her feet or anything cool like that, but I seriously don't see the big deal, and I prefer having these stylish heel-things than if they gave her heavy boots that wouldn't need right with her sleek outfit.
The problem with this is that statement is, especially in the past few months, more people have been more vocal about not thinking the movie is good...so I feel like this comment doesn't really mean anything. "As good as it's been made out to be" could mean by the people who liked it or the people who didn't.
They're high heels but with a purpose instilled with them (pretty much jet pack augments.) Why are people still complaining? THEY SERVE A PURPOSE. Just like the outfits in Kill la Kill served a purpose.
