I'm not gonna say you're wrong, because now I am genuinely curious how you came to like the second half more than the first.

I don't think I could ever just say one thing makes me like a song, much like how I feel about films and video games. If the rhythm is good but the lyrics sound stupid, I probably won't enjoy the song. If the lyrics are very well-written but the vocalist rubs me the wrong way, I'll switch to something else or look for a cover. As far as I know, I can't really overlook one bad aspect of a song for the good parts.

    I would love summer.

If not for the 110+ Fahrenheit heat outside.

    What a waste :\

Hell, I don't even think the first half was that good. It was alright, still had huge flaws in my opinion, but I enjoyed some stuff that went on. And it straight up baffles me when anyone says the second half is not terrible (which I did have to be forced to finish.)

So what you've heard is, at least in my opinion, pretty accurate.

Yeah, just looked this up myself because it sounded wrong. I'm not sure how the hell SAO could have come before something that's 7 years older.

    OH YEAH THIS THREAD.

    Anyway, my condensed thoughts:

+Godzilla. Holy shit. He looks perfect. He sounds perfect. He acts perfectly. Seeing him destroy was so satisfying.
+The cinematography. Lots of great shots and nice use of contrasting lights and darks.
+The music. Not amazing, but it always felt fitting.
+Ken Watanabe and Bryan Cranston. Both of their characters were likable and interesting, especially in their dialogue.
+The Muto monsters were alright. I liked their color palette and abilities, though they weren't as interesting when it came to actual combat.
-Aaron Taylor-Johnson's character was so damn boring though. The dude has no personality (and no, it's not just a soldier thing, before anyone else uses that excuse.) I felt nothing for him.
-His wife and kid are equally forgettable.
-Lots of boring writing to deal with during the second act, with too much military jargon and not enough...well, interesting dialogue. It felt unbalanced.

Over all, a very respectable reboot for the series (think that's the right term) but it does have its flaws. It got me really excited for any sequels. Gareth Edwards did a great job directing, but I strongly hope he gets a better writer next time.

About here was where I was getting the wrong impression from what you were saying:

That really rubs me the wrong way.

I don't think that's the right response to post though. Sure, have it to yourself, but stating it for him to read will only antagonize him further (as the responses between you two have shown.)

Guys, please, you both have valid points. Stop taking the piss out of each other. I respect you both and would prefer the discussion be about what is positive about the mentioned game instead of deconstructing each other's arguments. Hatok does bring up a good point:

I honestly hated how the Green Goblin's looked in this film, at least neck up. His face looked ugly, yet uninteresting. At least Raimi tried to do the mask thing, and I really wish they stuck with that even if it would have "scared the younger audiences." I will agree that the suit he wore was better though, there isn't much comparison. And DeHaan's laugh...really unimpressive, sorry. Seriously, when I heard it, I said out loud "...really?" Again, loved him in Chronicle, but NOTHING he did worked for me in this film. And I don't really feel strongly either way for the Raimi Goblin. The coloring was perfect, but the details were...average.

Electro's suit wasn't really bad to me, just, again, forgettable. I've yet to hear anyone really talk about it. But I'm glad to see a collective dislike for how Rhino looked. I was going to be ok with the mech-like decision, but they botched the hell out of it with the T-rex hands, machine guns, and overall awkward look.

Yeah, the explanation for a new suit isn't necessary but I still personally wanted one :|

While I don't agree with Atlas on the idea that all reviews are awful (though knowing him, he's exaggerating a bit,) there are valid ways to criticize something. And as other people have already stated, some of the issues you have with the game were technical, yet clearly the people who liked the game didn't have these issues.

But you know what I also think needs to be said? That there is always more than one review for any specific thing. You can hear what people with different opinions and mindsets think, and I think that's pretty great. Sure it brings with it bias, but why shouldn't you give some time to listen to someone who clearly likes some things that you like? I don't see too much harm if you don't blindly follow them, and still do try out new things ._.

As for the whole "coulda been better in a different genre" debate...eh. Yeah, it gives some idea that maybe the genre it's in doesn't fit, but that statement alone is really weak, you have to admit. Like, just compliment that statement with saying things like "having this action game in first-person rather than third-person would give better control and better angles for the gameplay."

And please, don't get so offended to the point of insinuating mental deficiency. Jokes aside, that's pretty low :\

I can agree with you there. The visuals were really well-done, from cinematography to costume design/makeup...except for the Green Goblin and Rhino. And even though I liked Electro, his outfit, aside from the meter thing on his head, was pretty forgettable. Still, I loved the suit for Spidey, even if the change in suits wasn't given an explanation (as far as I remember.)

Yeah, Devil May Cry was surprisingly good, except for the first-person underwater sections, the horrible, cheesy dialogue and the poor storytelling.

EDIT: It also had terrible, terrible camera angles that you had no control over.

Basically, every horror trope stuck together with pretty much zero originality. The perfect example of how the survival horror genre has been exploited in attempts to cash in on the success of Amnesia: The Dark Descent, Outlast and Slender: The Arrival.

Just off the top of my head:

    -Finally get a driver's license
-Get a summer job (probably at Costco)
-Finish playing every Devil May Cry game, as well as DmC: Devil May Cry
    -Finish playing Metroid Prime Trilogy
    -Finish watching Breaking Bad
-Finish watching Jojo's Bizarre Adventure, and catch up on Stardust Crusaders

Here's (as far as I know) the order in terms of story:

Kizumonogatari (not released yet) -> Nekomonogatari: Kuro -> Bakemonogatari -> Nisemonogatari -> Monogatari Series: Second Season -> Hanamonogatari

I recommend to just watch it in order of release. It's best like this for how the characters and stories are introduced.

Bakemonogatari -> Nisemonogatari -> Nekomonogatari: Kuro -> Monogatari Series: Second Season -> Hanamonogatari ??? Kizumonogatari

    This game just looks so good to me. The graphics, the plot, the gameplay (even if it wasn't exactly a gameplay perspective,) and even the suit (I actually like the armor-esque looks) ;.;
