No problem. Sorry I took it off; after so long I just kinda got into the mindset that you were done with the place ._.

Have you tried out X-COM: Enemy Unknown? It's probably my favorite Tactical RPG, and it's hella addicting once you've learned the system. It also is very engaging, because, like Fire Emblem, your characters die permanently unless you have a Medic bring them back in time during a mission.

First part: trailers these days suck. Have you been to a theater lately? Either the trailers for new movies show way too much of the plot, or barely anything at all. Don't judge the show on a trailer, just like you shouldn't judge a book by reading the back of it. Give it a few episodes of watching, like I do with any show, not just anime.

Second part: WHAT THE HELL? Why does a higher level of exposure of people's bodies instantly have to be justified for you with what are generally negatively perceived themes? That's something that this series is arguing against because it's stupid thinking. People need to get over the fact that OH NO GIRLS HAVE BOOBS AND ASSES and just let them be people instead of acting like them showing these parts of their bodies instantly makes them lesser beings. And it barely even revolves around a high school story; it's simply there to help frame the plot and give the characters somewhere to come into contact. I generally hate high school anime too, but Kill la Kill is far from that in my mind.

And I could talk about terrible writing in any medium; it sounds like you're just trying to stereotype anime here with a weak ass reason. Of course there are tons of anime with terrible writing; there are hundreds of movies with terrible writing, and hundreds of video games with terrible writing, and hundreds of songs with terrible writing, and hundreds of books with terrible writing. The existence of something bad and/or tropey in a genre shouldn't be keeping you from experiencing something you could actually enjoy in that genre. That's dangerously close minded thinking.

So...it looks bad to you because you don't like the themes that make use of the higher level of body exposure. Look, that's fine, but the seriesstill has some pretty good writing and very likable characters for a ton of us, as you can clearly see. I don't know why you constantly try to make the series look bad for not sticking to what you find acceptable. As I said before, it's stupid to think that nudity or semi-nudity need to be sexual in their purpose, and it degrades females by thinking like that.

No shit the anime is ridiculous, but it's not stupid, unless you really can't get over the fact that female characters are able to stand up for themselves and fight in unconventional, revealing outfits and not also be prostitutes or whatever negative stigma is associated with nudity these days.

I've got more issue with the fact that they tried to make him semi-muscular and have that....that face...

I think of the final boss for Dante in Devil May Cry 2. I'd get an image but all I found were pretty bad quality.

I bought an Owl City album once.

    Once.

Honestly, most of the charm wore off for me. Fireflies was never a big deal to me, but I like The Saltwater Room every now and then.

I'd feel sympathy for them if they didn't turn around and sell the game they just bought at $9, for +$27.

I know the feeling, and have very much resisted ever selling a game again for quite a few years, except for newer titles that I know won't grow in value or that I just didn't care for at all, or if I plan to get the re-released version later on anyway (like Dead or Alive 5 Ultimate.)

The writing is....weak. Explaining it made me realize how much so.

    To synopsize:
    • Beginning of film, Captain Gordon and his crew on the Gotengo manage to imprison Godzilla by freezing him in the South Pole.
    • Some 40(?) years later, the Earth Defense Force are fighting monsters with the aid of mutants (basically superhumans in this film.) Ozaki, a mutant, is the main character.
    • The EDF have found the mummified remains of Gigan, who apparently is related to the mutants through M-Base in their DNA.
    • Fairies show up, say Gigan is evil and that Mothra will help save the Earth if monsters show up.
    • Monsters show up around the world: Zilla in Australia, Rodan in the U.S., Anguirus in China, Ebirah in Japan, etc.
    • Xilliens capture the monsters, saying that they want peace and wish to save Earth from a collision with an incoming planet.
    • Surprise, human protagonists discover the Xillians are lying about the planet-collision thing and want to imprison the human race for food.
    • Xilliens just switch to attacking the Earth with the same monsters that were doing that in the first place.
    • Gordon, Ozaki, and whatever the other people's names are, get on the Gotengo to release Godzilla, who's frozen in the South Pole.
    • That happens, and then GODZILLA TOURS THE WORLD WHILE KICKING MONSTER ASS
I won't give away the finale (it's pretty predicable anyway,) but that's about the gist of the film. It's got some really cool fights, but the human/Kaiju balance is way out-of-wack for me. I mean, at least the humans have cool fight scenes for once, but they're too long and take up too much focus, leaving the Kaiju battles to feel way too short.

The only age showing to me is the early 2000's CGI, some of the props in the first movie, and a few Evil Dead-esque shots that feel hella out of place. Otherwise, my favorite films showcasing Spider-Man.

So I got to watching the recent blu-ray double feature I got a few days ago, which contained Godzilla: Tokyo SOS and Godzilla: Final Wars.

Tokyo SOS has a far more balanced narrative structure, with a clear chain of events and more relatable human characters. The action was awesome, giving Godzilla, Mothra, and Kiryu all a good amount of screen time, with great effects and choreography. I even liked the themes presented in the story; basically about letting the dead rest rather than forcing them to fight. I've heard Godzilla against Mechagodzilla, the film this is a sequel to, is better over all, but I haven't seen it yet. I still enjoyed this one a lot.

Final Wars is a flat-out action movie from beginning to end. The characters are all-around much more extravagant than Tokyo SOS, with humans and mutants and aliens fighting each other with Matrix-style martial arts in elaborate costumes (one character is literally an American muscle-man who likes to carry around a katana and barely even use it,) though there are a few "straight man" characters to even it out a bit. One thing that was disappointing was, due to having so many monsters in a single film, most of the actual monster fights are too brief, giving little time to appreciate the effects and choreography, which are admittedly great. The finale makes up for it, but the constant cutting back to the human conflict can be jarring. I think a longer run time would have helped the film balance out more, but that would be at the cost of making the film 3 hours long....all in all, a fun Royal Rumble that you should absolutely not take seriously.

Ironically, I was watching Godzilla: Final Wars last night, and I had an issue with reading the subtitles at times, because the black stroke around the words wasn't thick enough to counter-act the white-on-white in some scenes. It can be a real problem. Still, I guess it's a personal thing: I'm perfectly ok with putting in a little effort (honestly a negligible amount to me now) to enjoy a usually better rendition of a production.

Honestly, yeah, he was really whiny sounding...but it might just be the character?

I'm saying sometimes a high-pitched or hyper-feminine or whatever voice isn't as annoying as a boring, uninteresting voice that I could hear in my everyday life that wouldn't fit the tone of something.

Thing is...I didn't find that girl's voice annoying.

Yeeeeee, same. Rapture also needed more varying enemy types me thinks.

Like I said, I'd have been fine with Daisy's initial story before part two if it was written a lot better.
