Okay first off, I'm not really sure if this is the right section for this considering what I'm trying to make the topic of this thread about, because I guess it's not really a topic that's "intelligent", but more informal. I couldn't decide on what section to post it in: debate, spam zone, general discussion, and so on. So anyway, I might as well just start the thread, despite of what section it belongs in.

Okay, I have to honestly admit that I have been called emo before (I still am now by some people), but in real life, not on the internet. I have been called emo because of my appearance, and sort of how I act. In my (middle)school, we have a uniform; it consist of: White collar shirt, Navy collar shirt (I think), school t-shirt (Blue or Grey), Navy pants/shorts (cannot have too baggy), or khaki pants/shorts, and you have to wear a belt with shirt tucked in. On Fridays you can wear jeans, and I wear my black jeans, or my tight REALLY dark blue jeans. I listen to Screamo, which is apparently the same thing as emo to ignorant people (which is what this topic is about, but Iâ€™ll bring that back up later). Also, the fact that I have long hair and I always have my bangs covering my face doesnâ€™t really help my appearance as â€œemoâ€, but get this: I have long, beautiful blonde hair (as described by tons of girls in my school), and even though I have thoughts about dying my hair black, I donâ€™t want to do that until my hair turns brown (which happens most of the time if your hair is blonde, and from brown it turns white, if you live that longâ€¦), so I can keep my â€œbeautifulâ€ long blonde hair, well beautiful. So anyway, Iâ€™m trying to say is that I dress more like someone hard-core would dress, other than an â€œemoâ€ kid would dress. I donâ€™t wear a belt, and I would never wear a studded belt, because I honestly think that they look gay, unless a guy in a band is wearing one. I have never cut myself, but I have thought of suicide (but can anyone honestly say they havenâ€™t?). Now that I have explained that I donâ€™t dress like an â€œemoâ€ person would dress, I must explain how I act. Iâ€™m an out-going kind of guy, but only with my friends, though Iâ€™m not that out-going when it comes to girls (obviously Iâ€™m not that confident about being around girls that arenâ€™t my friends). Whenever Iâ€™m depressed, I donâ€™t hide it from the world, nor from my friends, so Iâ€™m pretty much quiet all the time when Iâ€™m depressed. Iâ€™m funny (not trying to brag), and when Iâ€™m hyper everyone around me (thatâ€™s my friend) has a great time, I have a lot of friends, but I donâ€™t really hang out with them because at recess they are playing football or basketball (which Iâ€™m not totally confident about playing since I canâ€™t catch worth ****, but I can run fast as hell), so I want to know, why would anyone call me â€œemoâ€? I mean, I usually dress in all black, but should I be judged for wearing black? Then again, I might be over-reacting, because usually my friends call me â€œemoâ€ but they are joking around, but sometimes Iâ€™m called â€œemoâ€ not by my friends, when Iâ€™m being made fun of. So in reality, Iâ€™m the totally opposite of what would be described as â€œemoâ€ in terms of how I act, and I barley dress like how you would think an â€œemoâ€ person would dress as, aside from my wardrobe being almost completely black.

Now I want to explain what â€œemoâ€ is. â€œEmoâ€, apparently, is described as someone who wears eye-shadow, dresses in all black, has black hair, and dresses in all black. Emo is really a music genre that started in the 80s-90s. There were bands whoâ€™s lyrics seemed like they really came from the heart, or described depression, and so the fans made up a genre to describe them as, which we all know as emo, short for emotional. Now pussies who cut themselves, and talk about how depressed they are (yet they have so many friends), call themselves emo. So now people think that emo is a style, even though it is really a music genre, and label people who are depressed and wear black clothes all the time as emo. What really pisses me off is that some kids that are labeled as emo, actually call themselves emo. It doesnâ€™t make sense to me, you wouldnâ€™t call yourself rock just because you are rich and in a famous band, would you? There are scene kids (who should be described as emo if you would call anyone emo), and gothic people arenâ€™t anything like scene kids. So really, what kind of ****** would either call themselves a music genre, or call somebody else a music genre? Also, Screamo isnâ€™t anything like Emo music. Emo music is usually lyrics about how the personâ€™s life sucks, and how they canâ€™t go on, while Screamo is usually about things that other people would care about, and some Screamo bands make you feel better (like blessthefall, whenever I listen to them it always makes me happy), and tons of Screamo bands are actually Christian, so they are giving out a positive message, while Emo music is giving out a negative message that makes you want to kill yourself. I also hate it when people call Screamo crap because they canâ€™t understand what they are singing when they scream, I mean really, it takes a long time to be able to scream, and the band members are AMAZING at their instrumentsâ€¦the bass players shake your car if you listen to the music at like volume 8, the drummers play the double-bass drums which take a lot of practice to be good at, and the guitars are phenomenal, and they singers have the best voices when they sing normally, and the lyrics are meaningful. While emo music sucks, and the lyrics are horrible, because they are normally all about depression and how much the people hurt inside.

Well, thatâ€™s pretty much all I have to say about emo, and how Iâ€™m totally NOT emo.

While it is true that it started as a music genre, it has evolved from that. EMO music is not always depressing and makes people suicidal. It's deep emotional lyrics with some hella good music to it.

EMO kids are not all depressed and cut themselves. I speak as a true EMO kid. an EMO kid is really someone who is deeply emotional. a person who is that emotional can never really understand all of it, that's why we're labeled as depressed. Not all EMO kids have black hair, most actually have very colorful hair. the same goes with clothing. most EMO kids i know don't cut themselves either. half of them are actually hemophobic(afraid of blood).

I really can't stand when people are so ignorant that they make such narrow minded judgments about people they don't understand.

I think I'll blog about this later or yell at a wall while I write an aimless point of view on a forum about video games. Yeah that should do it. I should tell people what they obviously all think and then get them to agree with me, because that makes me feel better. God damn, htere I am contradicting myself again. I try so hard to be myself and ***** and moan about being an individual and then here I go caring what others think of me and getting other people on this video game forum to agree and reassure me that my individuality is alright. But I already know that right? I mean, I should if I coose to dress the way that I do right? God damn there I go again! Contradiction after contradiction. I'm not emo but I dress like people who are. Wait a minute... if I'm being generalized because of the similarity of my clothing to that of emos, then is my style even my own? Wait a minute! I'm a non-conformist but I dress like a whole bunch of non-conformists? Maybe I should stop wearing black? God damn! If I do, then I'll just be like everyone else. But wait, being like everybody else isn't wrong... IT'S NORMAL. There are generalizations about everything in this world because they provide an easier way to associate and understand the world around us. But if generalizations are okay what about being my own individual? I still am unique because I wear black. Oh **** I did it again. Those imposters also wear black so how am I ever going to escape being compared to all of them. Oh my god why should I even care?????
