"True," Van Helsing agreed. "Maybe we should explore that castle some more because I bet we'd find more interesting things there now that everyone is rested and healed." Edward sat up, unable to sleep anymore. "Where is she?" he thought, glancing at the ticking clock on the wall. "It's been over an hour..." Lestat chuckled under his breath, putting a hand down the steps to touch Beatrice's hair. "Of course not, little one," he soothed. "You're just a little lost, my dear. Tell me... what's on your mind?"

Van Helsing snorted at Jinx's comment. "That's true," he sighed. "You know, do you think he's aware of the one thing that can kill him? Wouldn't that be something we should think about?" Edward rolled over in his sleep and opened his eyes for a moment. I wonder when Hannah will get back, he thought, and shut his eyes again. Lestat smiled. "I don't want anything to do with that monster, but you feel free to do whatever you wish." With that, he turned on the spot and disappeared. He envisioned Beatrice in his mind, sitting on the stairs all alone, her head in her hands. He was next to her a moment later, leaning back on the stairs, his fingers laced behind his head in his blonde hair. "Hello, little one," he yawned.
"How do you suggest we find them, then?" Van Helsing replied. "Are you saying last night we were just lucky he was there, and now that we failed once, we don't know when our next chance may be?"
"Oh, I'm done sleeping, Miss Anna!" Van Helsing insisted. "I mean... it's been quite a few hours and we have things to do. Unless you think shutting our eyes and snoring will finish Dracula, I suggest we move." Lestat smiled wider. "Perhaps," he agreed. "But I guess I shall let you watch that interesting feat while I go help my lost, sad... rather pathetic child."
"Hey, Anna, you want to help, I'd suggest you wake up and brainstorm with us here," Van Helsing insisted, shaking his head. Lestat bit his lip, swallowing a smile. "Can you imagine what they're doing right now?" he taunted happily. "Who knows what happened last night, where everyone stands after their silly little defeat here."

"That's an idea," Van Helsing agreed. "What on earth do you have, though, that could draw him to us? Maybe we could ask this one," he added, motioning to Anna. "Hey!" he snapped. "Hey, get up already!" "Not unless 'your' Jinx tumbles around with that hunter she seems so fond of," Lestat chuckled, already focusing on Beatrice and how to get right to her. "That'll be a fun one."

Lestat pursed his lips, dusting off the forearms of his velvet sleeves. "True, true," he sighed. "She doesn't seem to be doing very well on her own. What on earth are you going to do now?"

Edward watched Hannah go, trying his best not to worry about her. I hope she can see that it doesn't matter to me what she does, he thought, lying back down and shutting his eyes. I mean... she could kill anyone to keep herself alive and I'd still love her... is that wrong? Lestat nodded. "Something tells me she wouldn't enjoy that kind of lesson... what do you think? You don't know the girl, but you've seen her personality as she's friends... well, was friends with your child."
