    Sounds of the slaughter fest echoed around the forest. Zoey kept her breaths very light as her heart pounded heavily in her chest. She kept her eye closed, listening for any movements that would come by. Once in a while she swore she heard footsteps run along the edge, but then they would disappear. Screams reached Zoey's ears here and there. If she was completely alone, she would have covered her ears and broke down and cried. But instinct was keeping her alive right now. She could live with the discomfort she felt in her body and the noises of this nightmare.

    She had dealt with crazy in the past before, but she felt like that kind of crazy didn't prepare her for something like this. All she knew was that these kids were going high on bloodlust. She could hear whoops and hollers here and there when a successful kill was made.

    Zoey thought back to when she said goodbye to her dad. She lied to him about this being a school trip. Ha! This sure did topped the Magic School Bus adventures, that was for sure. She then thought about Noellë and Jonathan. Could they even still be alive? Were the bodies the police found from some other festival before they arrived? Maybe... She held on to that little sting of hope that answers would be found eventually. Everyone was pretty smart in their group, even though they acted silly and weird. She missed them...

    Zoey finally caught her breath as she huddled in her hiding spot. Her shaking had pretty much ceased as she focused to stay as calm as she could. If she played her cards right, she could get out of here. If only things were more simple though... The forest was pretty quiet for the most part as she laid there, pressing her back as far as she could into the small space she was in. She figured her legs and other parts of her body was going to go to sleep, which would be really uncomfortable, but she would have to hold still unless something happened.

    Suddenly, she flinched when she heard a loud gunshot and then saw a flash of light from where she was at. She couldn't see what was going on, but she had a sinking feeling that this demented "game" had begun. 'And may the odds be forever in your favor!' she heard in her head. Ugh. At least in that story, everyone could grab a backpack, get a weapon, and even got training before they had to go through hell. She had to improvise. So did Oliver and Pierce she figured. She hoped that those two would be okay... She wanted to find them and help them, but she knew that was impossible now. Besides, how would she be of help?

    All she could see was the opposite side of the rock wall of the ravine for a brief moment, and then the strange light faded out. She clenched her pen tighter and moved her tongue around in her mouth as she heard noises within the forest. Soon, she heard another shot, a scream somewhere far away. Wait, were they killing each other too? But weren't they the targets? What was this? Was Patrick preparing some kind of army and was combing out the weak while they were still young for a later purpose? She silently wished she was back at the inn, making theories with Travold, or was talking to Freddie about the past. Hopefully Shane and Estelle just ignored her text and went back to the Inn with everyone else.

    Her thoughts were interrupted when she heard the sounds of a chainsaw- Chainsaw? WHAT?! WHAT WAS THIS?! Sure, she was expecting guns, but... A FREAKING CHAINSAW?! She forced herself to keep quiet and closed her eye. She found that she could actually "see" better if she just listened. By the sound of things, the forest was crawling with people... Or creatures. There were cries ringing out here and there, kids being slaughtered in many different matters she imagined. The chainsaw was pretty far away, but this night wasn't over yet.

    The story teller at the fire was trying to scare the kids with silly ghost stories. Psh, sheesh. This sounded like those crazy nights of summer camps with her dad. But given for the place she was at, this wasn't normal to her. It just raised her suspicions further. She heard someone whisper that this was Patrick... They were going to his place to ask questions, right? But she stayed silent, keeping under the shadow of her hoodie.

    Suddenly, things changed around. A service? It sounded like some kind of cult...

    Her fears were confirmed about that when Patrick started to talk about spring and change and some shizzles like that. Then, she heard the words. Men and women... Died? Over the last six days? What were they dying for? What the hell was the mumble jumble?

    She didn't look when someone from the town was cornered by someone who looked intimidating and scary. She heard the boy beg and plead. Oh dear god, what was happening?! No, she had to stay calm. She kept her eye away from the struggling, tried to drown out the horrible sounds. She didn't dare look, she forced herself to not even flinch. She had to blend in with everyone else, no matter what.

    Before Zoey knew it, it was over. Then some sort of game was starting to be explained. Goodie-bags? She wasn't going to get one. One look under her hood from the this Patrick guy and she would be marked and killed very quickly. Lord of the Flies, The Great Game, and the Hunger Games were all popping into her head when the game was revealed to be hide-and-seek. They weren't going to kill each other this year but-

    The outsiders...

    Her heart leapt in her throat. She was an outsider. Her whole group she came with were outsiders. No way... No way in hell was this happening!

    But it was. Ooo, it was.

    The countdown had begun, and when the word was given, Zoey was off like a frightened Jack rabbit into the darkness of the forest.

    Zoey gasped when she tripped on a root and fell forward with a splat into something gooey and sticky. She pulled her head up, only to see that she landed in a puddle of mud. Thinking back to Hunger Games, she rolled around in it, wiped some on her face, and then stood up, continuing to move her way through the forest of death.

    She kept on her toes, being so careful not to trip again as she moved into the darkness. Hide-and-seek from the children of the Candy Corn. She could do this. How was she keeping a leveled head? She had no idea. She wished she didn't poke around and went paint balling with Ryder, DAMMIT! Speaking of that, she needed a weapon. She pulled out the only thing she had in her pocket, a pen. That would have to do.

    She kept her breath as light as possible, made special care to not step in any dry leaves or bushes. The less sound, the better. The noise of the lake crowd was melted away now, but she knew she wasn't safe. She was wearing camouflage, but she needed to find a place to hide and hold absolutely still. She either needed to be high or low. Someplace obvious but not so obvious at the same time.

    She slipped down a very steep hill that seemed to eventually turn into a rocky ravine, and a couple of small ledges.

    Wait a minute...

    Getting on her hands and knees and putting the pen between her teeth, Zoey carefully made her way down the steep face of the ravine a few good feet. She almost slipped a couple of times, but she kept a good grip. Her eye found a crevice in the side of the rock ledge that was really a tight squeeze, but she would fit. With a grunt, she pushed herself into the small space and huddled into a ball. Her hood was tight around her head, and her pale complexion was well hidden with nature's goop. She felt that the mud would help conceal her more where she was at. She would look like part of the forest, maybe look like part of the crevice with all the leaves stuck to her, if she didn't breath or blink. Any movement could catch a human's eye, or any eye. She remembered a school friend once told her that even eye movement could attract anything. Another plus for her, she could see nothing but a rock wall on the other side. She wouldn't be at eye level, and she was high and low. But she would have to be careful when she crawled back out, otherwise she would have a nice fall to look forward to.

    She was shaking, feeling the coldness of the mud seep through her clothes. Maybe that wasn't such a good idea. She held her breath when she heard movement for a moment... But then that sounded faded away. She prayed and wished that she would make out of this alive. She had so much to tell Freddie, so much to do with him. If she didn't live through this...

    No, that wasn't the way to think.

    She held the pen that Cane threw at Shane tightly in her hand, making sure the tip of it was out and ready, but concealed. Now it was time to play the waiting game... She knew there was no way back to the inn now. The towns people would be out and ready to grab them and send them back to this "service" for punishment. And Patrick said one other thing; there was no cell service around here. She hoped this night would just pass on by very quickly...

    Zoey was genuinely surprised when Ryder seemed to want her in the tournament. She grinned and began to follow him. Suddenly, she stopped in place at something tugged at her mind. Remembering her purpose, she passed the table and went to Ryder. "Hey, we're suppose to check things out," she said quietly. "I'm going to take a look around. Maybe we can play back at home." She nudged him in the shoulder before smiling at him. "Good luck, see you around."

    Zoey turned with her hands behind her back and strutted off. She figured being alone was the worst thing to do, but no one else seemed to be doing anything. She decided to head over to the candy stands and take a look there. She kept hearing a lot of strange things about the candy. What was so special about it anyways? Besides it being super addictive. She approached a colorful candy stand and took a look at the variety of items. Everything actually looked very good. She really didn't know what to choose- wait a minute, she wasn't actually going to eat it. What was she thinking?

    Zoey looked up to see the woman behind the cart watching her patiently. Zoey smiled at the vender and waved in a friendly manner. "Hi there. Wow, this all looks good. What do you recommend?"

    The lady smiled and chuckled. "I thought you might ask dear. You looked a little confused. The large lollipops last a long time, but if you want to taste something very sweet and light, I recommend this warm cotton candy. It's fresh."

    "Mmm, I'll take that then," Zoey said, fishing in her pocket for some money. She said thank you to the nice vender lady and just held the cotton candy in her hand without taking a bite. "This is a really cool celebration... What are we celebrating again?" Zoey asked casually as she took a look around.

    "Why, we're celebrating the coming of spring dear- oh my..."

    Zoey looked over at the lady, only to discover that the lady was staring closely at her... Not at the eyepatch even, but at her normal eye. The lady's smile faltered a bit but then she pulled away. "You're not from around here are you? I can tell... How old are you?"

    Suddenly, Zoey felt a little nervous. That's right, she had blue eyes. Could they really tell who was outsiders then? Clearing her throat, she decided to cooperate and answer the question. "Sixteen."

    "Oh my, you must head to the lake. All teenagers must go there. You'll get in big trouble if they catch you, dear. You don't want to face serious consequences now.."

    Zoey was stunned. What kind of festival was this? "Um, th-thanks." She took a step back from the stand and had a look around. Sure enough, Zoey could see right away that there were no teenagers around. Just little kids, adults, and old people. Okay, this was officially weird. She whipped out her cellphone after cradling her cotton candy in her arm as she walked, quickly texting the three people who had her number-

    She closed her phone and then hurried up, following the signs that lead to the lake. Why did all the teenagers have to be at the lake? It seemed so... Weird. Nonetheless, she pulled her hoody over her head as she approached the water front. It smelled so clean and crisp down here, but it was kinda hold. She rubbed her hands as she approached what it seemed like a small group of teens and kept her head low, but kept alert. She hoped she knew what she was doing...

    She then noticed two kids from her group. She didn't know their names but she sighed out calmly. Se wasn't alone, good. She approached the group by the fire and took around before sitting down. There was a man at the head of the fire, telling a story or something.

    This was getting old really fast. She wasn't even being acknowledged at all by either one of them now. She looked to her right and someone caught her eye. There, standing out from the crowd, was Ryder. Her earlier thought of being with him rather than Estelle and Shane tugged at her stomach. He looked lonely... And when she peered closer to where he was at, she saw it was paintball. She smiled, thinking of the memories of playing laser tag. This was different, but Zoey knew how to get rough and dirty.

    Sure, the time that happened on the train still stung, but there was something deep down that told her to try again. Maybe something could happen.

    "Hey, hold my spot for me just in case, will ya? Text me every fifteen minutes if you can you two. I'll be back."

    And with that, she walked over to Ryder. She felt very hesitant, but hey, she didn't know what else to really do. She had a feeling Estelle wanted to shake loose of her anyways. She looked up at him before looking at the paintball field. "Hey Ryder," she greeted without looking at him. She bit her lower lip and folded her arms over her chest. "You wanna try that?" she asked, looking up at him with a small smile. She didn't bring up anything about the train. She wasn't unless he did. And if he wanted to be alone, she would respect that. She just wanted to try to be his friend once more...

    "For a one eyed girl, I have good aim," she claimed, trying to maybe impress Ryder. But in the end, Zoey figured that he would have to see her in action to believe it.

    Zoey felt a twinge of relief when Shane agreed with her. But that relief melted into frustration when Estelle spoke up. What was her friend even thinking? It was like she wasn't thinking at all, just acting on impulse. Sure she was younger than Estelle, but Zoey figured that she would know better and act more maturely than this. It felt like she was a mother of sorts, watching over these two hooligans. Now she was starting to wish she was with Ryder instead of these two. She was worried that little incident on the ferry was going come out anytime. And with the way Estelle was acting, she was fearing for her own life and Shane's as well.

    Zoey puffed out her cheeks in annoyance. 'Keep it cool girl,' she thought to herself. She could feel the tension from her best friend thick in the air. She could tell that Estelle was angry at her, but Zoey hoped she would thank her later for saving her life. Yup, she was gonna be the third wheel in this group after all.

    The one eyed girl kicked at the ground hard. She was trying her best to contain her own anger. For all that mattered, Zoey could slap Estelle across the face for acting like an idiot. Instead she shoved her hands in her jean pockets, looking around at all the people. At this point she figured that her friend wanted to ignore her, and only focus on Shane. What a pain in the butt.

    It didn't take long for Zoey to put all her stuff in her room that she was sharing with Estelle, someone else she already forgot, and Shane. Oh boy, this was gonna be very awkward... Zoey was nervous about being in Bentley she couldn't turn back now from this. She was already here. What was going to happen would happen, and she would have to work her way through this with everyone else. They got some valuable information from the inn keeper, but it looks like they have to look into it further later after the festival that was going on.

    As they walked into the festival grounds, Zoey was stunned by on the colors and magic that seemed to be happening all around them. There seem like so many activities to do, but Zoey wasn't in the mood to do any of them. She wanted closure on what happened to her friends and peers. 'All in good time,' she thought to herself.

    The girl felt her pocket buzz and quickly pulled out her cell phone, seeing she got text from Estelle. Raising an eyebrow, she opened the phone to see the most stupidest text message ever. Furiously, she replied back.
    Before Shane could say anything to Estelle, Zoey came up to them and placed a hand on both of their shoulders. "How about we all do something else as a group?" She raised her eyebrows as she smiled nervously, looking over at Estelle. 'Check your phone,' she mouthed to her before looking over at Shane. Seeing that she made her point, she patted both of them on the shoulder before taking a look around at the crowd. Every single person she saw seemed to have green eyes. How rather... Odd. "Yeah, we should totally stick together. What do you guys want to do besides the fairis wheel? And we are so still not going to the haunted house..." She hated to be a stick in the mud, but she wanted to be safe and keep her friends safe as well. And both the haunted house and the Ferris wheel seemed like a death trap.

    When she saw that one of the teachers asked Shane if he was okay, she cringed. Oh, yeah, better make sure her friend was okay. "Are you alright?" she whispered to him, looking to his forehead. She then looked over at Estelle and felt something tug at her gut. She patted Shane on the shoulder hesitantly and then bent over and picked up the pen. She rolled it around in her fingers before she jolted when Erik suddenly started to carry on to the inn keeper.

    She just watched in horror as he snapped at the shrewd lady name Cane. This was exactly what they weren't suppose to do; tick off the residents even more. Panic tighened at her throat.

    "We don't mean to be impolite!" Zoey blurted, stepping forward. Oh goodness, did she just say something? She cleared her throat nervously. Fear quickened her heart rate. Maybe Cane said some very inappropriate choice words to push buttons, but they needed to be reminded why they were here and keep their heads clear. Redemption would be made to those that passed, and they would always be remembered by those who knew them or not. But Zoey had a feeling that the town was going to test them and prod them. They needed to be strong.

    "Thank you for taking your time to greet us," Zoey said softly as she stood by Shane and Estelle. When eyes weren't on her, she slipped the pen into her pocket. Pens were always good weapons to have. "Sorry," she whispered to everyone and then stepped back to stand with the rest group. What he was sorry for, she wasn't sure. She hoped no one would get mad at her for speaking out like that.

    Nothing too drastic, like or life and death event, had happened on the yacht. Well, maybe Estelle finding out that Zoey kissed Shane may have killed her, but that seemed so silly now that they were getting closer to the infamous town. It seemed like they were lucky so far... A little too lucky. It was like whatever was waiting for them at Bentley was preparing for their arrival. It scared her. She got a briefing about what happened in Bentley a long time ago, and it seemed like the whole town wanted to kill the last group that was there. Or maybe, trap them in their sweet candy land forever.

    When she got off the yacht, she grew very quiet. It was time to focus, no goofing around or any shenanigans of the sort. She looked around with her good eye as she held on to her backpack. The vibe of the place really scared her. It seemed so intimidating, yet at the same time so.... Hospitable? She wasn't sure if that was the right word. They were here to find out what happened to Noellë and Johnathan? She had a feeling this place wasn't going to cough up information so easily. Another thing that scared her was that they had no freaking plan. Nothing. They were just going to waltz in and play by ear. That made her even more nervous.

    Also, another thing tugged at her. Her and Torvald were told to look in the folklore and myths section if they wanted to find out about Bentley back at the library. They never got the chance to. What was in that section that was so valuable to know?

    No plan, some expectation of what was going to go down, and a whole group of inexperienced kids mixed with those with experience.

    In other words, they were seriously screwed.

    The walk to the inn was long, no doubt about that. But that didn't bother her. When they entered the inn though and it smelled thickly of sweets, THAT bothered her. And when she saw the inn lady, she gulp. Seriously, screwed.

    The lady recognize the faces of those who been here before, and that was YEARS ago since they were last here. She also noted that there were new faces. Zoey shifted uncomfortably in place and scooted close to Julius. Though they hadn't talked since the hospital, it was a face she recognized and could trust.

    She gasped when the lady suddenly threw a pen from where she was at and hit Shane right in the forehead. Good aim. Yup. She needed to be focused and keep on her toes if she was going to live through all of this.

    That whole speech made Zoey feel even worse... And she was going to make sure she kept her mouth shut about this whole thing. Maybe she could forget about it and move on with this.

    But that was her FIRST KISS. And it was with Shane. Did it still count even though it was an accident?

    She felt some sort of pain inside of her when Estelle started her daydreaming about Shane again. Nothing happened. Nothing at all. She took Estelle's hand and stood up, forcing a smile. "Um, no... I was too embarrass to get anything out of him. And he was *cough* quite shocked by the whole thing." She longed to be on the deck longer, but that wasn't going to happen. Estelle would know for sure if something was up if she kept distancing herself.

    "Boys are clueless, Estelle," Zoey said, fighting down th hurt and pain. She really needed Freddie right now... "You gotta make them see what you see. Then they can take a hint from there..." She hoped that Shane would not tell Estelle about the kiss. She hoped that they would both forget about it, and he would forget about her and really fall for Estelle. If only if it was that easy though.

    Zoey almost flew into the water when she heard Estelle's voice. She could wither up and die right then and there if she could. Estelle trusted her a lot. Zoey felt so guilty for what she had done... But it wasn't really her fault. She didn't fling herself into Shane on purpose. But Estelle wouldn't see it that way. No, she would be blind to that fact that Zoey kissed Estelle's Shane. Oh boy....

    She finally mustered enough courage to look Estelle with her good eye. Zoey looked so tired and drained from all the extreme emotions she underwent over the last couple of days. She sighed out heavily, looking down and away from Estelle. No, she couldn't be truthful. Not now. Not when feelings were so raw and judgment was clouded. "I'm sorry, um Estelle, things have just been..." She remembered that a certain someone that was part of her train wreck of feelings was sitting right behind her.

    She blew out a long stream of air before she looked back at Estelle. "I um... I kind of told Shane you like him!" She blurted out, cringing as she waited for the response from her friend. She didn't expect things to go too well. She could still feel Shane's lips burning on hers. Oh how embarrassing and awkward. "I'm... Sorry," she said timidly, fiddling with her fingers. "I knew you wanted to tell him yourself... It just came out." It wasn't a complete lie, but it wasn't the complete truth either.

    Zoey could barely speak the shame was so thick. She felt her ears and cheeks burning like they were on fire as her heart pounded heavily in her chest. Then she heard what Shane said. It was okay? THIS WAS SURELY NOT OKAY! If Estelle found out what happened or even seen it, Zoey was sure her throat was goin to be slit in her sleep, or worse!

    Then another voice pipped beside her. She squeaked like a frightened mouse and sat straight up on the couch, rigid and ready to spring away. Her mind didn't even comprehend that it was Dennis, the guy he hadn't seen since the hospital. "Oh hey, long time no see! Nope! Nothinghappenedhere, nothingthatEstelleisgoingtokillmeovernopenopenope!" Her words all slurred together as her nerves were startig to get the best of her.

    And if things could get any worse, it suddenly did when she heard her friend's voice. Estelle liked Shane. Zoey just kissed Shane... And Shane was Estelle's, not hers. She was marked as a friend that couldn't be trusted, even if the whole thing was an accident. She would never forgive her!

    As soon as Estelle sat by her, she jumped up to a standing position and bowed over an over again to Estelle. "I'm sorry! I'm so sorry! I'm going to go!" She then rushed out of the room and back up on deck. She inhaled a big breath of air as she bent over to compose herself one more. She then just stared down at the deck, going through her head of what just happened. "Man, you really screwed up this time Zoey..."

    She sighed and then stood up straight, seeing no other than Ryder sitting there on the edge with his feet in the water, he was the last person she wanted to see. She inwardly groaned, torn between staying on top with Ryder or face hell down below. Choosing the first, she went to the opposite side of the deck and sat straight down, staring out to the lake. What was she going to do now?

    "Psh! Me lose stuff? C'mon Seth, you know me better than that! Armaris giggled, then looked down at the trinket in her hand. She thought it was pretty neat, and she couldn't wait to get it customized after the tour. Maybe she would get a paw print or a cool looking cloud on it. She then looked at Seth, seeing he looked grumpy as ever. At least the guy could cheer up a bit. "Hey, it's okay to smile," she said with a grin. "No one is going to stop you here." Armaris turned her attention back to the tour guide, wondering where they were going to go next.

    Zoey shrugged her shoulders, thinking back to when she was in the hospital. "Oh, last December I believe. She met me when I went to the hospital..." She trailed off and then looked over at Shane. Well, this was quite awkward to her. Here she was with Estelle's biggest crush in the world, alone. Well, not exactly alone, but it was just the two of them.... Talking. Shouldn't he be on a move on to go see Estelle and if she needed help? And why was there Snoop Dogg music suddenly blaring in the yacht? Nevermind that though.

    Clearing her throat, she began to play with her hair, pushing it up into a messy bun. "So, how long have you two known each other?" She asked while glancing at him, still doing her hair. Some black wisps were loose and feathered her light skin daintily. "You know she likes you, right? I mean, a lot. She can't stop talking about you-"

    Zoey froze, realizing what she said. It was between her and Estelle, and she completely let the cat out of the bag. Panicking, she took Shane by the shoulders and made her look at her in the eye. "Um, keep this between us, yeah? Because if she finds out I told, then-"

    Suddenly, the yacht launched forward as if someone got distracted at the wheel, sending Zoey off balance with a yelp. She gripped Shane's arms tightly for balance, but her head fell forward. She caught herself before they cracked noggins, but something went amiss.

    Zoey felt her lips on something... Something warm, sending shivers down her spine. Her eye met with Shane's and then she realized how close she was. And that must of meant...

    OH GOD, I'M KISSING HIM!

    She gasped in the kiss and pushed herself away. She panted as she just sat there in shock, her face growing white like a ghost... Then slowly red until she looked like a tomato. Zoey's head felt light, and she touched it gently as she registered what she had done. "Oh no." She shook her head quickly. "No, no, no, NO! I'm so sorry Shane!" She blurted, backing away from him. But she didn't find the strength to stand and move away. She would probably melt into a puddle of Zoey-wtf-did-you-just-do goo.

    "Estelle is going to kill me!" She exclaimed. She groaned and then beat her head against her hand. Her heart was racing, and did she dare say she felt sparks within her. This couldn't be happening! "Oh hell, what did I just do...." She then curled up into fetal position on the couch, hiding her face from Shane. "I'm sooo sorry dude.."

    Zoey found the breeze up top to be very relaxing. She closed her eyes and undid her bun, letting her long luscious black hair whip around in the wind. She tilted her head back and inhaled deeply, only to suddenly gag and cover her mouth, gripping the railing of the yacht. "Oh shizzles," she coughed and waved her hand in front of her nose. "Whoever said lake water smelled great has a broken sniffer." To her it smelled like fish and wet mold. She sputtered and wiped at her nose before leaning heavily on the railing again, staring out in the lake. It was crystal blue and glimmering, despite the icky smell. It reminded her of when her dad took her on fishing trips back when things were happier. She smiled at the memory, barely noticing the strange squeaks that joined her up top.

    Zoey stood straight up when she felt a shadow fall over her and saw no other than "...Tannhauser?" She put a hand over her mouth to stifle the laughter that was threatening to come out any second. "What in the world are you even wearing? A shark suit?" She giggled as she poked at the costume, seeing it was made of air. "Huh, not a bad idea, but what if you have to pee?" She smiled and then breathed out. "Look, about last night, I'm sorry I reacted the way I did. I had a bad train ride over, and someone kind of did what you did last night. They didn't mean to... But you're right. We need to go in and not fear... Everything-"

    She was interrupted when she heard a voice behind her and saw Estelle. She didn't look so good. She was about to go to her, but Travold was already on it. She watched the two interact, suddenly feeling distant and alone. She never got what she wanted to say out of her brain. It drove her completely nuts. Feeling a new anger inside of her, and seeing that Estelle was getting taken care of, she just quietly moved passed the two and head below deck to get away from all the noise. "It's Travold, not a shark, you silly girl," Zoey muttered to her friend before disappearing from deck.

    Once she was below, she blinked and took a look around. There, she spotted a familiar face and approached him. "Hey, Shane." She looked at him in surprise, looking back to the entrance that led up top. "Um... Estelle is looking for you dude. She looked sick, but Travold has her in his care." She shrugged her shoulders and sat down by Shane. "I think she needs ya." Zoey needed someone too, but she would endure being lonely. Everyone always had the first grabs with friends and lovers. Zoey always walked the lonely path.

    Zoey gasped when she felt a hand on her shoulder. Se turned to see that it was Freddie. Her eyes softened and she smiled at him. As quickly as her smile came, it disappeared. She suddenly hugged her brother tightly, burying her head in his chest. "I don't know what I'm doing anymore," she whispered. "I mean, I don't see how much help I can really be, and-..." She trailed off and sighed, taking a step from him. "Let's talkon the ferry... I'm kind of tired. Good night, Freddie." She gave him one last hug and then went inside.

    ~~~~
    Afternoon was here and Zoey found herself on the yaht. She leaned against the railing, looking out on the lake. "Oh boy, this is going to be... Interesting." She sighed out and looked down at the water, watching it churn.
    She gasped when she was turned around all of the suddenly, her eyes wide with fear. Not this again, please. Her eye suddenly grew cold as she became rigid in Travold's hold, as if she was a cat cornered. She clenched her jaw as tight as she could, staring out into nothing as Travold's words watched over her. Se was really getting tired of being manhandled, even if it was gently this time. What he was saying to her made sense, but she felt like she was getting stabbed with each word that he said. She didn't understand it, nor was she in the right mind set to.
    When he let go of her, she took in a shaky breath. She had a couple of choice words to say to him but bit her tongue. "Excuse me," she said between clenched teeth and got up from the table, leaving her notebook behind. She pushed by Travold and left dinner, just like that.
    She found herself wandering outside in the dark and just stayed in the shadows of the porch at the Inn. She growled at herself and hit the back of her head against the wall before she made a fist and punched her palm, hard. "Way to lose your cool, Zoey... Next thing you know, Mr. Menon will send you home. If not him, someone else...." She took in a deep breath and found herself wandering to the nearest tree. With a cry of frustration, she took a punch at it. It stung her knuckles, but she could hardly feel a thing through this anger and frustration. She took another punch at the tree, but this one was soft and weak. She sighed out heavily, letting herself sink to the ground.
    This just seemed so frustrating and aggravating to her. She didn't want to live in false happiness. She just wanted to be cautious. For all she knew, maybe Whittlerose had a connection with Bentley. What if they were already for them to come and this was some kind of trap? They had no idea what they were really wandering into.
    What good was she to everyone? She didn't know them. Let alone, she felt like some didn't want her to come. Or maybe it was her own paranoid mind.
    "ACK! YOU'RE SO STUPID KLINE!" She raked her fingers through her hair, letting her fingernails scrape across her scalp. And then she found herself looking up in the night sky.... She felt so small, pretty much alone. She was just a spect out in the universe. People would forget her over time... She sighed out, her shoulders relaxing. "I'm sorry we're taking so long guys..." She leaned her head against the tree, letting the night air cool her off as her mind fought with herself.
    "It almost sounds like Hanstel and Gretel," Zoey said softly, poking at her meal. "Lure people in with something sweet, trap them for whatever they see fit. Make them servants... I don't know." Se rested her chin on her hand, just staring down at the plate. The library seemed like a waste of time... And now they had to be on their way in the morning. And she still didn't know what this curse was. She looked at her notebook on the table, wondering if there was anything in there worth saying. Probably not.
    "Are we really ready to face what ever is waiting for us at Bentley?" She said to really no one as she poked at her vegetables. She was tired and done for the day. After what Travold asked her earlier today, she wondered if she was worth anything to the group. Ha... She hardly knew anyone here. And the people she did know were too caught up in their own world to see her.
    She sat down her fork and massaged her forehead before flipping her notepad open, jotting some more details that she didn't have written down before.
