I believe Sora gave everyone he fought fair warning before attacking. The events on CoM take place right after KH. And in Kingdom Hearts Final Mix, you fight Xemnas, who already knows Sora is 'incomplete'. I felt it kind of harsh when Sora and company laughed when they knew Maleficent was dead. It was when they first meet Pete, and Pete didn't know she was gone.
That's a line Sora says near end of game. The sixth person he refers to is Kairi.

In Final Mix, they changed it so that the Rapid Thrusters drop HP orbs. So it would be impossible for you to use the Gullwing Keyblade for extra experience.
I'm sure it doesn't take long to realize that by killing these little guys is the fastest way to level up in KHII. But in KHII FM, they were replaced it with one body. Did anybody realize yet that the hundreds of Rapid Thrusters are still there on Pride Rock's peak?! At first, if you go up there after beating Groundshaker, you will see the lone Heartless. But if you leave and came back, there will be a chance that the swarm will appear.
