"How long will it take to fall asleep after the medicine?"
Doctor Izanami smiled once more when the little girl spoke to her. "It won't take long to fall asleep, and it will quite peaceful. You will fall asleep right away without any problem."

“Can I listen to music before I fall asleep?”

"You certainly may." And with that request, Nurse Bianca went to fetch Kyla's player and wireless headphones before she was to take the medication. "Any other questions?" Doctor Izanami looked around the room, making sure she had everyone covered. "No? Alright... We will be handing out the medication to you now. As soon as you take it, just sit back and relax against the bed. Like I said, your nurses and I will be watching over you and taking care of your every need while you're asleep."

Nurse Bianca came back just in time with the radio for Kyla and helped her find her favorite song before handing the girl her headphones. The other nurses began to go up to the rest of you, handing out one pill with a cup of water. It was small, for it had been reduced to match the chemistry of a child to an adolescence. Should you take it? Or not? If you don't, you could be stuck in this place for the rest of your lives. On top of that, you could disappoint your loved ones and parents for being afraid to undergo this treatment.

When one of the nurses came to Ainsley with the medication, Ainsley had to admit she was quite scared now. She wasn't before, but the thought of being asleep for a long time kind of scared her. But she didn't want to be a coward, did she? She looked around, glancing at her peers. She met her eyes temporarily with Kyle, and then she suddenly wanted to thank him for protecting her earlier from Trevor. But the nurse cleared her throat, not wanting to wait on Ainsley forever.
Looking back down, Ainsley took the pill and plopped it in her mouth, then took the cup of water and swallowed it. She handed the empty cup of water back to the nurse and then did as she was told. Ainsley laid back on the bed, sighing out deeply. What was going to happen from here? It seemed like barely thirty-seconds went by before she started to feel drowsy. She fought to keep her eyes open, but her eyelids felt so heavy. Before she knew it, all sounds had drowned out and all she saw was darkness.... Ainsley had fallen asleep.

    Day~44 {2/4}Location~Birdsville, Australia Monday, November 4th, 2013

With a grunt, Elsie opened the door to the storm shelter and poked her head outside. Instantly, she felt the chill of the wind through her somewhat wet hair and shuddered. The dark clouds seemed to have rolled away, and up ahead, Elsie could see a rainbow. God's promise to Noah that he would never flood the earth ever again. The girl crinkled her nose and looked down. Flood water. Ha. Some promise.

Elsie disappeared back inside the storm shelter for a couple of minutes before coming out wearing some heavy duty rain boots and a paddle from the canoe. Carefully, she made it down the muddy slope of the hill she was on to the edge of the water. She then leaned forward, careful to keep her balance and not fall in. "Eh!" Elsie tried to poke the canoe paddle into the cloudy, muddy water to see how deep it was, but found out that this wasn't going to work as she planned because the hill was still going down.

"Phooey." She stood up straight and rested the tip of the paddle in the mud, letting out a flub of air from her lips. Then her eyes landed on a rock and she smiled a bit before she bent down to pick it up. Pulling her arm back a bit, Elsie flung the rock and watched it as it soared at a reasonable distance.

    Plop.

By the sound of that, it sounded like it was pretty deep. "Ah man," she groaned, wiping the mud off her jeans. "Still stuck here... Unless I wanna paddle a few hundred miles..." Which at this point didn't seem like such a bad idea to her. She trudged back up the hill and disappeared back into the shelter, but kept the door propped open. Tossing the paddle to the side, Elsie then took off the muddy rain boots and placed them outside before going over to her radio. After a few good cranks, Elsie let it rip and then sat on the cot, trying to tune into a radio station or something. She needed to know what was going on out there-

"Well Steve, the damages are bad everywhere but they are in larger numbers in some of the coastal counties. There are many people who are still waiting for evacuation due to fallen trees and powerlines. Some areas are still flooded because the water has no where to go. The total amount of people dead or missing is still only an estimation but it is ranging around-"

The radio soon died out, but Elsie got the information she needed. Things were chaotic out there in the Outback compared to her little island here in Birdsville. She was just stranded was all. At least she wasn't dead or dealing with fallen trees or powerlines. Elsie snatched her cellphone from off of one of the crates and flipped it open, turning it on. As soon as it beeped to life, she looked down at it only to see that she still had no service. Frowning, she just turned it back off to save some power and assessed her situation. She could wait for someone to find her, grab the canoe that was here and just take her things and supplies and go to the nearest town that wasn't flooded, or she could-

    Pray.

The girl nearly scoffed at herself. Pray? When had she last prayed? She didn't even remember. She remembered what her grandma told her though; when you got nothing left to do, ask the Lord above to lead you the right way. Elsie felt like God never heard her prayers though. It was like a one-way conversation to her as far as she knew. Maybe she could try it, just once more.

Feeling a little foolish, Elsie found herself on her knees with her hands clasped in front of her, just like she always had done. Sighing out, she closed her eyes and swallowed her pride. "Dear God... If you're really there, can you give me a hand by sending someone to me? Or maybe help me contact someone through the radio? It's been raining pretty hard here where I'm at, and it's too flooded to take the jeep anywhere... I'm thinking of going where the canoe can take me... Then again that might be stupid...."

Elsie groaned, breaking off the prayer and slumped against the cot. It felt like she was talking to herself again and no one was going to answer back. She sat there, staring at the floor as she listened to the wind whistling outside solemnly. It seemed like the whole world was having a chaotic time... First it was the plane crash in New York with that strange demonic voice saying 'He rises', then there were some freak storms in Europe, sickness, another plane crash, then zombie teens running around eating people, and then... Well, maybe she was forgetting something in between. But she knew for a fact that Australia just got a freak storm itself. What in the world was going on?

    Saint Rose Pediatric Psychiatric Hospital
    "Miracle" Time
    Day 1
    [IMG]

The rest of the day went on almost like any other day. You all had dinner together around 5:30pm (except for Trevor, who had to eat in his own room), and Ainsley probably gave you that piece of banana bread you were look forward to.

After dinner, you didn't go back into your main pod like usual. Nurse Anthony let you all know ahead of time that you would be going to a different place in the hospital after dinner. The "Miracle" had to take place somewhere else after all. You (and Trevor) are all led into one big room. There are hospital beds lined up on either side of the wall, just enough for your group. You're all instructed to change into hospital gowns, and then each of you are assigned to a bed. The nurses that you are most familiar with are in the room with you, helping others get comfortable and ready. As soon as everything is situated, Nurse Anthony takes a step to the head of the room and looks at all of you.

"Head Researcher Ms. Izanami will tell you what to expect."

Doctor Izanami didn't bother to correct Anthony. She liked to be addressed as Doctor, but she read over the patient's files. Some of them were afraid of even the word. As soon as Anthony stepped aside, Doctor Izanami took his place at the head of the room and smiled warmly. "Hello everyone," she began with a slight nod of her head. "It's nice to finally meet all of you in person. I have spoken with your parents and loved ones over the last few months and have heard so much about all of you. I know I am a complete stranger to you. I am Ms. Izanami as Anthony had said, and my goal is to help all of you feel better and help you get a hold of your lives once more. Most of you have been in this place for a very, very long time and I'm sure you want to get out of here as soon as you can." She paused for a moment, letting her with everyone.

"That is why you have all been opted to try a new medication, generally known as "The Miracle". As you might have heard, it is a medication that will help you feel better, more relaxed, and with help you carry on a normal life outside of this hospital. Yes, you will be asleep for a while, but I and your nurses will be watching over you to make sure you are receiving the best care as you're healing. Your parents and loved ones will also visit you as you sleep, and they will be watching over you too."

She glanced over at each of the patients. They were all so young... Life was cruel sometimes to let these children suffer for so long. "Your parents all signed a permission slip for all of you to take this medication, however, if you do not wish to participate in this, you may opt to not take it at all. I will not force any of you to take it. It is solely up to you, and you alone."

Her smile faded just a bit, growing very serious. "If you choose not to take this medication though, it might take you months or even years to become stabilized enough to leave the Saint Rose. Most of you are close, or have reached the age of eighteen. At this point, you could be transferred to another hospital where they are more strict and it will most defiantly be an unpleasant experience..." She took in a little breath of air, relaxing her shoulders. "Now, do any of you have any questions or concerns?"

"Sixty-nine bottles of gin on the wall, sixty-nine bottles of gin~..."

Almost four days in this stupid storm shelter, and the rain was still pouring down!

"Hnn... Take one down, pass it around, sixty-eight bottles of gin on the wall- Ah, screw it."

Elsie groaned as she sat up on the cot, stretching her arms high above her head. She turned her neck to the side, cracking the kinks out of just right. "Much better..." She lowered her arms and kicked at one of the empty cans of Vienna sausage crap away from her. She snatched her voice recorder up and turned it on. "I'm back. I'm still stuck in Birdie, Australia, now known as Birdie Lake. Still can't go anywhere, getting sick of canned food, and getting really, really bored out here. You guys know I like adventure! But being stuck in one place for long? Nah-uh. Not this girl." One look around, and she saw she could do at least something besides writing, reading, and sleeping. "Well, I guess I could clean up the place, make it look fancy. Who knows, I might attempt to remodel this shelter. Note to self; this could probably make for a good survival story later in the future. For now, I'm living the story. Check in later, over and out."

Click, and the recorder was off.

Elsie ran her fingers through her long, blonde hair and made a face. It was starting to feel really, really gross. Maybe she could try washing it today with the rain water that was collecting out in a bucket outside. She was sure it would have been filled up by now. Instead of moving, the girl sat there and listened to the rain pattering on the roof. If she didn't know any better, she'd think her mother would tell her that God was trying to teach her patience right now. Ha.

"Alright, enough of that kind of thinking." Elsie pushed herself off the cot and then began to gather up the hollow shells of metal that once held something that some people called food. She placed them in an empty paper bag she found and then picked up a broom, sweeping up her area till it was neat. Moments later, she made her bed and declared herself done with "chores".

"Now to try to wash my hair," she muttered to herself as she fiddled with the storm shelter latch and pushed it open. For all that time, she had been using sanitary bath wipes for her hygiene, but her hair really needed much more than a wet, soggy cloth.

Instantly, Elsie was greeted with the thick smell of rain and heard a low rumble in the sky. One look outside, and she whistled. "Crikey! I wasn't kidding when I said this place was a lake..." Everywhere there was water stretching for miles and miles from where she stood on her hill. She couldn't tell how deep it was, but she wasn't about to find out. She grabbed the bucket that was collecting rain water and pulled it inside, shutting the door to the storm shelter once more. Sitting on the edge of the cot, she took out a small cloth and a towel and draped the big towel over her shoulders. After grabbing her shampoo and conditioner from her duffel bag, she dunked her head in the water and then pulled out, letting the excess water drip into the bucket. "C-c-c-cold..." She hoped that she would be able to get out of this dump soon.

    Day~42 {1/4}Location~Birdsville, Australia Saturday, November 2nd, 2013
Why? Why did she come out here in the first place?

"Birdie Australia, Day... two-ish? No idea what time it is. Too lazy to look. Another day for Reese Ouellet in the barren wasteland of Southern Australia out in the middle of the Strzelecki Desert... Or... I think at the edge of it? Note, do some research when I get back to Sydney-"

There was a clash of thunder outside, making Elsie squeak and almost drop her voice recorder. She clutched it tightly with shaky hands, bringing it back to her mouth. "Okay, long story short, yours truly wanted an adventure and explore Australia. I mean, what American student wouldn't? Well, my adventures have come to a hault out in Woop Woop land. There's a full blown storm out there, which is like very impossible to fly, drive, or even walk through. Actually, I think I'll be swimming with the crocs soon from the Diamantina River... Yikes..." Elsie let out a quiet sigh, taking a look around her surroundings. "I'm in a storm shelter here, and it's just me in this lonely place. Eh... I'll check back in later, over and out."

The voice recorder was clicked off and placed on one of the dusty shelves. The blonde took a look around once more. She had canned food, blankets, a canoe, some ponchos, her wind up radio, and other things. She was stranded here, and the only people who knew where she was were her friends back in Sydney and her family back in Organ USA. There was pouring rain, thunder and lightning, and high winds that made her sanctuary groan and creek. About 900 miles away from Sydney, and who knew where else she could go from here. She just hoped that she would be safe up on this hill for a while. It was the only high ground she could get to before the flash floods tore through the area. She had sandbags up just in case things got crazy, but so far she was okay.

Elsie let out a groan and flopped back onto the moth eaten mattress that sat on a cot. She wanted to get a better sense of the dessert culture here for a book she had been wanting to right, and look where that landed her. "Rain, rain... go away... come again another day..." The old radio that was installed here was on, but so far Elsie hadn't been able to contact anyone at all. Maybe it was the electricity in the air messing with things, or maybe no one was miles around to even help her. How long would she last with the supplies she had now? She didn't even want to think about that.

"Banana bread happened! I didn't even get any..."

Anthony raised an eyebrow, looking over to see that Xyloh had wandered over here from Leah. "Banana bread?" That wasn't the answer he was really expecting. Though he did notice something on the floor, but one of the nurses swept it away before he could get a good look. Though the patients sometimes couldn't be taken seriously with their responses or answers, Anthony knew better. Ainsley's parents always brought her some home baked banana bread here and there. Even though the girl was deemed withdrawn and antisocial, somehow the bread was passed around here and there. Never before had it caused this much of a problem till now.

"If we all weren't already dead those two looked like they would have killed each other."

"Things were already shitty by the time I noticed what was going on."

Anthony ran his fingers through his mat of hair, sighing out deeply. Perhaps everyone was just stressed. This was the pod that was chosen to be in the experiment after all with the new drug. To test it on children seemed inhuman to Anthony, but so far it had been reported to work on some adults. Now it was time to try it on children. His attention was drawn back to Kyle, waiting for his explanation.

"I don't know about any bread, but I was just minding my own business when I saw flower boy and books-for-brains starting something over her." He gestured in blondie's general direction. "I tried to keep shit calm by breaking them up, but suddenly this dumbass tossed her to the ground and started grinding his foot on her head. If I'm honest, I would've gladly fed that little fucker a knuckle sandwich."

The head nurse held back a smirk. Sometimes he wanted to put Trevor in his place himself, but that was out of Anthony's line of duty. "You know that's my job Kyle, to keep things under control. It's your job to stay out of trouble." He turned away from the children, grabbing a clipboard from another nurse and started to make a report. Anthony did see what happened, but he wanted to get someone else's view on the matter. The fact that Kyle flat out lied about the bread made Anthony wonder if Kyle was trying to cover for Ainsley. "Since 'The Miracle' is going to happen tonight, you're off the hook. Everyone, go back to what you were doing." And with that Anthony was gone, checking up on all the other patients as well to make sure everyone else was okay.

The nurse was quick on her feet and moved over to Samantha so she wouldn't strain herself any further. Nurse Rachel took off the restraints on Samantha and then pulled the young girl into her arms."Shhh, you're going to be okay Sammy," she said in a mother like tone, pushing the young girl's hair away from her face as she gently rocked the nine year old in her arms.
"You're going to feel much better when you wake up. No more bad dreams, no more fears... Everything is going to be alright. Going to sleep is going to help you feel better... I'll be there to watch over you, little one."

The bandage was placed on Ainsley's injury, and soon the nurses left her alone in her room. Someone stood outside though, watching over her to make sure no one else was going to harass her. She was a complete mess, and more withdrawn than she was before. She had her quilt wrapped around her snugly, hiding under the shadow of the blanket while rocking back and forth on her bed. Her eyes seemed glazed over as if she was in a trance, staring off into completely nothing. Even though there wasn't much going on around Ainsley, there was a lot going inside her head.

'You're such a coward. Pathetic. You need to stand up for yourself. Pathetic. Coward. Why do you let others bully you?'

The conversation in her mind kept twisting and turning, constantly repeating the same words and phases that was making her feel worse and worse. Eventually, she pulled her knees up to her chest before pressing her eyes against her knees to block out any light, still rocking back and forth on her bed. This is what she got for trying to be nice. She shouldn't break out of her shell. No good deed goes unpunished. Sure she meant well, but look what well-meant did.

Maybe this "Miracle" thing wouldn't be such a bad idea after all. She would fall asleep, and maybe never wake up. What was there to wake up to in this world anyways? Just more pain and hurt? More fears and lies? Girls her age were just worried about dolls, school, and crushes. She had never so much as thought about them, or maybe she had... She didn't know. Maybe her mother and father would be happy if she didn't wake up at all...

Fear is really ugly. ◗ he told her with a slight frown. ◖ It's also pathetic if you let this big meanie bully you.

Ainsley wiggled her nose when it was poked, looking up at the older boy from under Trevor's elbow. Fear was ugly... It was pathetic to let Trevor bully her. Those words sank into her brain, and it was going to be hard to forget. She then looked to the side of her, noticing that there was a white orchid placed by her. Did Elton put that there earlier? She didn't notice. She lowered her piece of banana bread into her lap. Pathetic. She was pathetic.

Elton was right. She then heard more footsteps approaching, but it wasn't a nurse like Ainsley hoped it was.

"If you jackasses have a problem, why don't you take it somewhere else? Some of us are trying to ignore our impending overdose over here."

The girl gasped silently when the pressure on her head disappeared, followed by the sound of unbalanced feet. She could see that Kyle had stepped in between the two boys and shoved them hard. Then, without another word, Kyle sat down by her... Just like that. Elton didn't do anything wrong, but she was too afraid to speak up. She didn't glance at anyone, just kept her eyes to the floor. 'Go away, go away,' she thought in her head, closing her eyes for a moment. She wanted everyone and everything to disappear for a while. There was too much going on around her.

I really wish you wouldn't touch me so familiarly. She heard Elton say to Kyle, then felt the older boy sit next to her, but not on the flower. My medication was upped in dosage, so I'm practically harmless now. I would have really hurt you otherwise. There was a silence for a moment, and then Elton spoke up once more. Cowardliness isn't becoming of you, so you should be less pathetic in the future.

A coward, she was a coward. She needed to be less pathetic in the future...

    'Go away, go away....'

Ainsley didn't hear the apology that Elton was forced to give to her. She was starting to drown out the noise until everything became a muddled murmur in her sanctuary of darkness behind her closed eyes. But then, her center of peace was interrupted by a very loud voice, gradually pulling her out of her thoughts.

Ainsley was suddenly jolted out of her thoughts when she felt her hair being grabbed, then pulled hard. Her eyes snapped open and she gave out a pathetic cry, waving her hands and trying to knock away her assailant's hand. She couldn't help but to be tugged to where the hand went and then she felt herself thrown to the floor. Confused and bewildered, Ainsley tried to pick herself off the floor, only to feel her head being stepped on roughly.

The smell of wild flowers, wet dirt, and fresh grass suddenly wafted up her nose, her heart was pounding heavily in her chest. She then heard the sounds of a neighing frightened animal, and then-

A scream tore through the silent girl's throat. She didn't even hear the string of curse words; all she felt was the pain tearing through her head. Ainsley flung her arms around wildly, trying land a hit on the assailant once more, to break out of this nightmare. The little snippets of fuzzy memory kept flashing through her head like a broken tape. All she could do was scream and cry, begging for this nightmare to be over but the pain only worsened and Ainsley couldn't get away.

Suddenly, the pressure on her head was gone and she felt the vibrations of someone's foot step right in front of her. Ainsley was a broken mess by now and could only curl up on the floor, sobbing and coughing as she covered her head with her arms and rolled up into a fetal position. To her, she was still on that trail in the mountains, the pretty place by the meadows. Only it was covered in shadows, it was raining, and it was ugly. Her little body shivered as if a cold winter's wind washed over her. The nightmare was still repeating itself in her head, over and over again, even though she was not being attacked anymore.

"What the hell is going on?!" One look at the situation, and Nurse Anthony knew that it was a dire one. Ainsley was on the floor in bits, Kyle had Trevor pinned up against the wall, and for some unknown reason Kyla had wandered out of her room and she too was in pieces. He held back a sigh. "Get this situation under control, now!" Anthony yelled at the other nurses. He was the head nurse of this hellish pod. He didn't take any shit from any of the patients. All he cared about was everyone's safety and security, and that wasn't being accomplished at the moment.

He stepped through the the main pod right up to Kyle and Trevor, taking Kyle roughly by the shoulders and moved him aside. "Break it up!" he barked, keeping the two boys apart as the other nurses began to swarm in. One had a B52 shot, something that only the most aggressive patients got. As soon as it was administered, it acted like a tranquilizer and calmed even the meanest bully down. The nurse with the B52 shot moved in on Trevor while others held him down and poked it into his arm, administering the drug right away. "Take him back to his room, and keep an eye on him. Do not let him out until I say so." The nurses nodded their heads and began to escort the sadistic teenager back to his room where Anthony did not doubt he wouldn't come out of till it was time for the "Miracle" test.

When he saw that Ainsley was being taken care of by two of the remaining nurses, Anthony turned his attention back to Kyle. Kyle didn't need a shot. To Anthony, Kyle didn't even need to be here. But the doctors hadn't listened to the head nurse and his observations. Taking a deep breath to try to calm himself down, he met Kyle's eyes and nodded to Ainsley who was being picked up by one of the nurses since she couldn't stand on her own. "Alright, what happened here?"

Nurse Bianca sighed as she crouched down by the disturbed Kyla. "Such tragedy," she whispered under her breath, pulling out a clean handkerchief and dabbed the blood away from the girl's lips. "There, there Kyla. You're alright... I'm here." Nurse Bianca was usually the one that kept calm amongst the chaos, and thus she was the one that took care of patients like Kyla all the time. "Let's get you to your room, shall we? Hm? Up we go from the floor, that's it..." Nurse Bianca helped ease the broken girl from the floor, letting her clutch her radio as it played some pop music. "Alright, here we go, away from all the noise. Walk with me now, one step at a time... That's it..." She walked with the girl away from all the noise and back toward the girl's room where safety awaited Kyla. Nurse Bianca opened the door, allowing Kyla to step on through. "See, back to your room. You're safe and sound..."

Nurse Rachel was almost done with her Checks. There were just a few more patients to account for and she was done. Then she saw Sammy's parents being escorted back out of the pod and to the land of the deemed normal society and heard the quiet sobs of the little girl from where she stood. Nurse Rachel checked off the last few patients as she walked passed their rooms and then found herself at Sammy's door. She knocked, opening the door just a bit. "Sammy, are you alright dear?" Nurse Rachel saw that the girl was clearly upset and frowned, making her way inside the room. "Do you need anything?"

A feeling of dread washed over Ainsley as soon as a menacing shadow loomed over her. She knew who it was without even having to look up to see. One of the bullies, one of the menaces of this place. And none of the nurses liked to interfere with him much unless they absolutely had to.

"Don't mind if I do." The piece was swiped from her lap, just as she expected. Now he was going to leave her-

She felt a pressure on her head and hunched her shoulders. Oh no, he was using her as an armrest.Well, this was certainly new to her. Trevor never used her as an armrest before. She wanted to move him off of her, but her body was frozen. She just sat there and took it, trying so hard not to move a muscle. She kept quietly eating the banana bread that was in her hands, searching the room for the nurse that was just doing checks a minute ago. Nurse Rachel was gone though. It was just her, this big buffoon-

It's not nice to take from other people without their permission.

    And Elton?

Ainsley actually glanced through her bangs at the second figure that was looming over her. Elton. He didn't act his age, but Ainsley didn't mind. But she did mind that he was actually trying to stand up to Trevor. Mean Trevor. Scary Trevor.

The penalty for theft used to be chopping off the offenders hands. I think that would really suit you.

    And Elton was... threatening him?

What are you doing?! Ainsley wanted to yell at him, but her voice caught in her throat and instead she swallowed hard. She shook her head a bit, trying to warn Elton to just leave Trevor to do what he was doing. She didn't want to see Elton get punched in the face because of her. Or worse.

"Whatever you're eating, you mind if I get a bite? I could go for something that doesn't taste like dog shit."

Something rare happened then. The quiet, keep-to-self girl let out a soft giggle. Though the language was inappropriate, Ainsley couldn't help but to find some humor in it. The food here did somewhat resemble dog waste. She glanced up at Kyle, actually temporarily making eye-contact with him before she offered him a slice of banana bread. Her parents did bring some heaven into this hell, and banana bread was one of the things that made everything seem a little better. She wanted to talk, tell Kyle that she wanted to give him some in the first place, but then kept her mouth shut.

Her eyes fell back to her lap, and she ate her own slice quietly after giving Kyle his fair share. She didn't know what else to do. There were only one or two people she actually opened her mouth to, but only when nurses and doctors weren't looking. It was probably one of the reasons why she was here for so long, because she would not talk. Talking out fears was suppose to help. It just made Ainsley feel like she was drowning over and over again if she kept reliving that memory through words. And if she couldn't get it out with words, then she could forget about it for a while. Her memories, and nightmares, were too hard to face. She'd rather keep things to herself than to spill it out on others.

Ainsley stiffened when she heard the sudden yelling and string of curse words. Kyle. She didn't even have to look to see who it was. Being here for so long, Ainsley learned to pick up what characteristics she could from every patient she was forced to share space with. She mostly tried to not make eye contact with anyone, or get into anyone's way. That's what the nurses and doctors instructed her to do, over and over again.

    "Oh my, the poor parents."

It was muttered, but Ainsley heard it clearly. She knew that her parents forgot that she was still listening, even though she seemed to be in her own little world. Were her mom and dad poor too because of her? Because she didn't talk? Because she couldn't get over her fears and sleep at night? She felt her eyes stinging with tears threatening to come, but she blinked quickly. She just wanted to go home, but that wasn't going to happen until the nightmares went away.

"Poor kid," she heard her father say. "Sometimes I think some kids don't deserve to be here..."Her hand was caressed by her father's calloused thumb. Maybe he thought she shouldn't be here, but what choice did they have? Ainsley was not the Ainsley they knew and loved before. She changed. They wanted the old Ainsley back so badly.

Ainsley stared at the banana bread in her lap. Maybe she would give some to Kyle later. Then again, it would probably be best to leave him alone. Ainsley didn't like to get yelled at, even though she seemed to take it well. People had their own crazy minds, and at age eleven, Ainsley knew everyone wasn't like her. She learned as well not to take things personally, no matter what. As soon as the girl heard footsteps approaching, her parents let go of her hands, and Ainsley tucked in her little loaf of bread away in her big sweater pocket. She didn't want it to be taken away. This was her last thing to comfort her before she went to sleep for who knew how long.

"Excuse me Mr. and Mrs. Fitzgerald. The doctor would like to have a word with you."

Soon, Ainsley felt the warm embrace from first her father, then her mother. When her mother hugged her though, Ainsley couldn't help but to hug her back, burying her head in her mother's chest. "I love you," she whispered so faintly. Despite the hell they put her through, Ainsley still loved her parents. She missed them so much.

Abruptly, Ainsley let go of her mother and walked back to the lobby with one of nurses, not looking back at her parents. She kept her head down, waiting for the nurse to scan her card to unlock the door to her pod, and let her in. As soon as the buzzer went off, Ainsley was let in back to the noises and string of different people. None of them were close to her age. All of them were a lot older than her. Except for one girl, but Ainsley didn't talk to her much.

She walked over to one of the couches in the corner, and sat down. She kept her eyes to the floor as she carefully took out her banana bread, unwrapped the plastic wrapping from it, and put a couple of pieces on her lap. She shoved the rest of it back in her sweater pocket, knowing that Trevor or someone else would probably take the whole thing if she left it out. Gingerly, she took one of the pieces of bread and began to nibble on it, her eyes staring off into nothing.

    "Checks!"

Nurse Rachel walked in with a clipboard in one hand, and a pen in the other. Checks was the time to check on everybody to make sure they were still here, not misbehaving too badly, and all their needs were met. She walked through the sea of children and teens, scanning for their name on the piece of paper before putting a check mark by their name. Nurse Rachel was one of the few nurses who actually connected with the patients, often times playing board games with them, watching TV with them, or playing video games. She even went as far as to comfort fears at night when she worked on the night shifts. But she was no pushover.

"Let's see, Trevor is... mostly keeping to himself. Trevor, keep the book to yourself!" She shook her head, muttering as she glanced around the room again. Leah was mindlessly playing with the game board pieces as usual, though Xyhol seemed to be trying to make conversation with her. She saw Kyla's grandparents leaving the pod, escorted by a nurse, and she knew that Sammy's parents were visiting as well. Ainsley just came back from the Visiting Room, and then she saw Kyle. One look, and she saw that there was a problem. One of the nurses gave him headphones with a cord on it. She hated to be the one to disturb Kyle, but it had to be done. No cords were allowed.

Tucking her pen away on the clipboard, Nurse Rachel came over to Kyle. She took out a pair of red wireless headphones from her apron, ones that fit comfortably over the ears and blocked out all noise, and tapped him on the shoulder. "Sorry Kyle, I need to trade with you," she said with somewhat of a smile, holding out the wireless headset. "Remember, just wireless headphones are allowed."

So many things were happening at once, it confused Fae greatly. First they were talking about a plan, then suddenly everything changed and now the news that Sasha was captured rang in her ears. No, it couldn't be Sasha, it just couldn't! She was about to open her mouth and ask if her brother was safe, but then shut it. No one knew they were siblings, and they already knew for a fact that Quinn was the prince. They didn't know there was a princess, barely anyone knew there was a princess.Fae was jolted out of her thoughts when Marlene gave her some potions, saying that they would help her and everyone else in the group.

She heard Marlene talking to Zane about the labyrinth and again, had to hold back from saying anything. She knew that place like the back of her hand, they would get in safely. Fae then glanced at Luke, frowning just a bit. She did not like him, not one bit. Going on this quest meant that her identity would be unmasked. Then what? But Sasha... Sasha was like a second mother to her. She couldn't abandon her, not now.

Sighing out heavily, she picked up her messenger bag from the floor and slipped it on over her shoulders before setting the positions inside. "So, how many of us are staying, and how many are going?" she questioned, looking around at everyone. "I know we all want to save Sasha, but wasn't my- I mean, wasn't Quinn and someone else with Sasha? They might already be trying a rescue mission. We shouldn't send so many people out."

Donte raised an eyebrow under his mask, looking over to the door where the servant had stepped in. As soon as he saw her face, he felt an instant hate swell up inside of him. That slave, he knew her. "Perhaps she needs to be furthered disciplined..." Vex offered, speaking in a dark matter. "She is one of the Resistance, is she not? I'm sure she has dear friends that will come for her..."

    Saint Rose Pediatric Psychiatric Hospital
    Visiting Hours
    Day 1
    [IMG]
It's exactly four o' clock, and the afternoon activities are coming to a close; art class, dance, yoga, exercise, and so forth. Depending on your level of stability, you're either permitted to participate with everyone else or you're locked up in your room as usual just waiting for the day to go by...

Tonight is also the night you heard they're going to start the "Miracle" experiment. You either don't know what to think of it, protest it, or are willing to go for the idea.

The TV in the main pod where you are staying with others has been turned on to the Movies channel. Some of you aren't probably going to get visitors after all, and who wants to sit around and do nothing? Chess, checkers, puzzles, and Chinese checkers are available to use with permission.

It's a coed wing of the hospital, meaning females and males are allowed to mingle with each other. You just can't be in each others rooms alone. The bathrooms are locked to, cause a nurse has to go in with you no matter your diagnoses and watch you to make sure you don't do anything rash.

The intercom rings as its turned on. One by one patients in your wing are called by name. They have visitors today. And it may be the last time to see anyone from the outside world for a long time...

You're all in the same wing. Did anyone come visit you today? No? How about a game or a puzzle to put your mind at ease? Or maybe watch The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, The Witch, and the Wardrobe on the TV. If you ask nicely, the nurses might turn on the game TV so you can play a video game...

That is... if you're not all locked up.

    "Ainsley, dear, look at us."

Ainsley stopped fiddling with her fingers and glanced at her parents, keeping her eyes hidden with her bangs. They sat across from her, worried sick about her. She could see it in their eyes as she looked from one parent to another.

Her father reached across the table and pushed the bangs out of Ainsley's eyes, causing Ainsley to look back down at her lap once more. She was wearing a dark gray sweater with big pockets in the front (something she liked) with blue jeans and white hospital socks. They were comfortable clothing, but that did nothing to soothe Ainsley at the moment. Ainsley kept her eyes on her lap, not daring to look out the windows at all. She heard someone sigh, probably her mother.

"You'll be alright," Ainsley heard her loving mother say before her hands were gently clasped in adult hands. "We're so proud of you, Annie. So proud."

Those words made her look straight up at her mother, meeting those soft blue eyes. Proud? Proud of what? What did she do exactly?
"That a girl..." Ainsley blinked and looked away. She saw the sadness in that woman's eyes. She figured her mother saw the dark circles under the her eyes. She still wasn't sleeping well.

"We brought you a little something." Ainsley heard something being taken out of a shopping back and then it was placed on her lap. Looking down, she could see that it was bread wrapped up in plastic. The girl could faintly smell banana...

Ainsley's eyes darted up, this time to her dad. "It's your good luck present." Her dad smiled warmly, joining her and her mother's hands. "You're going to do good, baby. You'll be able to sleep soon with no nightmares."

She held back a sigh, looking down at the hands that encircled hers. They felt warm, comforting... If only she could just go home. No, home was a bad place. Home was where-

Holding back a shudder, Ainsley squeezed her parent's hands as she took another look around the room, trying to keep her eyes from focusing on the windows. Why couldn't things be easier? Why didn't she talk? Why was she so afraid...?

Setting: Pediatric Psychiatric Hospital (Very beginning), Alternate Dream Reality

The Saint Rose Pediatric Psychiatric Hospital... Home to the abnormal kids ages eight and eighteen. Some can go outside to get fresh air, others are imprisoned indoors- sometimes in their own rooms.

]You don't know why you're here, or maybe you do. You're sick, but it's not a cold or a flu, something everyone can see. It's something no one can see. Perhaps you're not sick. Your parents or guardians probably thought something was wrong with you, but there's nothing wrong. But you can't leave for some reason.

All that is true is that you are forced to take medication day in and day out. It could make you feel funny, it could make you feel better. Nurses and doctors check on you daily, and every day a patient or two may have a break down because they can't handle the state they're in.

Another thing that you know for sure; your parents or guardians just signed you up for an experiment. Scientists and researchers have come up with this new medication called "The Miracle". You only have to take one pill, and one pill only. It's suppose to work with the chemical balance in your brain and stabilize it, fixing all psychological problems big or small. The only downside seems to be you'll be sleeping for a long, long time. The doctors and nurses told you that you'll be asleep, because your body is repairing your brain. But it's not just you who's going to undergo this experiment; some of your peers are going to do this with you too.

Tonight is the night, you're going to take this medication whether you want to or not. What will happen? No one really knows.

Now is the time to say goodbye for now to your loved ones and friends. Visiting Hours only last for one hour.

You have ONE HOUR to say and do what you figure you need to do before you go into hibernation. Use it wisely.
    [IMG]Time~ 7:37pm[IMG]

    Part One
    Day 2
It doesn't take you long to fall asleep after all. Some of the nurses and doctors told you that you probably wouldn't dream, but something seems to be happening... You hear this strange voice singing some sort of poem, something about beckoning children to come to a land of enchantment. Suddenly, you have the ability to open your eyes. Is it done? Is the experiment over?
Apparently not, you might think to yourself as you look around you. It's night, it's somewhat dark, but there's a full moon out that's shining brightly. Everyone that you saw with you in the big room with all the hospital beds earlier are here with you to. Is this some kind of joke? You were told you would probably not dream. Yet here you are, in some sort of dream, with the people you know, hate, or love. You may feel something different about you. All your fears probably have quieted, your rage is at peace within you, and most of all you can think very clearly. There is a thick wall of trees behind you that shapes into a semi-circle. They look impossible to go through. Up ahead, you see a strange looking house, and a beautiful elegant woman. Behind the woman are people dressed very nicely, but not as nicely as the woman before you.
The woman smiles warmly, opening her arms to you and everyone else. "Welcome, children. Welcome to my realm of dreams." The woman's voice is calm, and even soothing. Most of you probably can't help but to be drawn to it. The woman lowers her arms, still smiling at you. "I am Dream Maker, mistress of all dreams. What ever you wish for shall be granted... Most of the time." She then gestured to the small group behind her. "These are my servants; my butler, my two maids, my three gardeners, and my cook. They are all at your disposal. And this is my mansion." She motioned to the strange looking house you saw earlier. "It looks more pleasant on the inside, trust me." She clasped her hands in front of her. "I hope you will all love it here very much so... Is there anything I can do for you before my butler gives you a tour of the place? Anything at all."
Should you ask for your deepest desire? Dream Maker said that not all your wishes will come true though. What does that mean exactly? Should you ask her what the hell this is all about? Or go along with it?
    Make your own choice.
