Well, the only think i can think of is that the Kira is constantly changing and most of the now dead detectives were Kira at some point of the game. Either this or God took the Death Note O.o
So i was wondering. Anyone else reading/watching this? aIt is not very famous yet (unfortunately) but it is very good. As a Letter Bee, Lag's job is entrusted to deliver letters and packages from town to town while avoiding Amberground's deadliest hazard — a species of giant armored insect known as Gaichuu, who attempt to feed of the "heart" that reside within these letters and packages. The anime ended some time ago on episode 26 and the second season will begin airing fall 2010. As for the manga, there are 9 tankobon this far in Japan and (unfortunately) only two in West. I learned about it a few days ago. Digimon should have stopped in the third season. Every time there's a new one they just make an Agumon/Tai wannabe pair and throw new colours to old Digimon or just give them an extra horn or something. I might watch it (in Japanese most likely) but it's not like i will miss anything amazing if i don't.
Maybe the Death note is exchanged...? Seeing how many people are accused and we haven't found him/her yet it seems possible. But i just reread the rules and i'm not sure if this can happen.

Pretty much my thoughts on it. I didn't think of Marill though to be honest. The tail reminds me more of Spoink's. I will laugh so hard if this is true. The Bidoof haters will go crazy. It looks like a Mew-Piplup combination to me. I didn't think of Azelf untill i read your post. As soon as i saw it i thought "HA! Another Charmander? O.o" XD For some reason though it reminds me of Moomins XDD On another forum someone else pointed out that it could be a grass type Pokemon since that thing on its tail could be a leaf. Interesting.
