Errol was sitting there, swishing a drink around in his glass. He was already starting early in the morning, but he needed a lot in his system to cause him to be drunk. He set his Caribbean rum down, looking down at the file before him. "Tomas Mullane, kidnapped in Las Vegas while on a business trip with his father... His family owns a few successful ranches, scattered out in Nevada, and the family is rich... Although they're getting desperate for answers. They recently reached out to us for help since we have a knack of finding lost people better than the police... Or so we thought." The last part was muttered under his breath. He sighed out, exhausted from staying up for long hours, trying to lift information from sources of the elements surrounding Colton's disappearance without being caught. It was now getting into the nitty gritty of the background of people's normal lives... "You may want to speak to the family to get more information on the matter. They'll be happy to receive you. The address is in the folder. Luna is looking for a partner at the board if you would like to team up with someone." Errol pushed the file of information for Alex to take before drinking more of the stuff in his glass. He set it down, standing up as he went over to a board of sorts that had red strings, photographs, and names of different sorts on them. It looked like a web from a first glance. They were just getting more questions than answers... ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Kye snickered under her breath when Lucas became annoyed with her calling him a new nickname and grinned, tilting her head at him. She then carefully listened to her partner talk about his whereabouts and what had been happening. Her suspicions were right. When Lucas mentioned the scientist with powers, she frowned, almost grimacing at the mention of that oddball. "Heads would roll if placed in same space alone," Kye whispered under her breath, taking a sip of hot chocolate to calm her nerves. She absolutely hated people with powers and was conditioned to instantly kill them if she was allowed to, almost like a guard dog trained to take down whoever the master ordered to. Kye lowered her hot chocolate, not really feeling sympathetic to his plight. She had a little mustache from the cream on her upper lip and just licked it away with her freakishly long tongue. "Silly brats making amuck, explosive twerps compared with oil and flames..." She shrugged. "Little to know, little to say." The girl nibbles at the cream at the top, which was almost melted in the hot liquid. "Sickie ducks makes baddy lucks," she said, referring to the kidnapping. "Better to pay a shadow to do the task." Kye raised an eyebrow, pointing knowingly to Lucas. "Will take a toll doing secret deeds alone." She gulped more hot chocolate, breathing out contently when she was done as thunder rumbled in the distance. "Ah! Happiness~" The empty cup was placed on the table top as the girl made two fingers walk across the surface. "Better to stay, better to say... Why keep the cat away?" Kytheria stared at Lucas from under the shade of her top hat with her unusual yellow eyes. She still felt miffed for being left out to see the scientists and because of her sore feelings missed out on the fun... But then there was silence at the other end for quite some time. She then smiled, making her fingers dance on the tabletop. "The cat is glad to have companionship again." ~~~~~~ "Your lack of research before the capture is not my fault either," Lyle said in a matter of fact tone. "If he's so ill, why not wipe his memories and let him go? And hire someone to do the next kidnapping for you..." He didn't feel like arguing much with the female scientist, he knew it would get him no where and seemed quite trivial. He wasn't phased when she tried to get in his face and waved her off. "I don't need money, I have enough of that. Quality is what I need..." The lights above Strain suddenly shattered and the scientist hummed, brushing off the glass from his shoulder. He would have to change the lightbulbs out later. A body was slammed into the observation window before crumbling to the ground. A young female girl stood up, panting and shaking off the robotic attack before she ducked out of sight again, avoiding laser bullets from the robot's arm gun. Lyle watched as the glass became stained with the bullets and wrote down a few notes. He was planning on doing more than just testing his robotic fighting abilities later on today. "Why don't you check on the other Lucas?" Strain suggested. "Seems like he's making leeway with his little telekinetic." The scientist pointed to the broken lights above him with his free arm, back to writing notes again. ~~~~~~~~ "And how would your daughter handle the termination?" Benjamin asked, lacing his hands together and placing his chin on them. "She's already on edge since Kytheria tried to step in to 'reason' with them a few weeks ago."
You've put a lot of work in your characters, I appreciate this. I wish I could give you multiple likes for this post. She's accepted, but I'll keep you off the list at your request. Pfft, Miss Danni is popular. XD accepted. Very interesting... I imagine an epic battle with him and Errol with the light side/dark side thing. I'm curious to see Lyle's role in this. Accepted for the time being though. Gabi, Glen, I'll add your characters in when I get my laptop back.
Jex raised his arms in front of his face indefense, side-stepping so Tyrant would hopefully fall off balance. "I am not apart of the group who killed your family in the fire. My own family was killed by people like you, full of hate and anger. We didn't do anything to anyone. We kept to ourselves..." Jex lowered his arms, but kept an eye on Tyrant. "Who are you with? Who do you work for?" Jex was going to play fair for as long as possible, but he guessed it wasn't going to last.
Stay back. Jex commanded to Ryan, glancing at him momentarily. I need to talk to him. I'll be okay, he's not going to hurt me. Go back to the shop. He looked back to Tyrant, raising his arms up. "I don't like using my powers, so... We're meeting on neutral grounds... Have you heard of a Colton Dare Sharleton?" Jex watched the man with his violet eyes, waiting for the reply.
Nicole began to pile up the hunks of breakfast, filling up at least three or four plates. "I made and brought you some yogurt and fruit with granola in it earlier. Eat that up first!" She called from the kitchen. "The main course is coming up shortly." She then put the plates on her arms, balancing it as if she was a waitress in a restaurant. Soon afterwards, the young mother walked in the living room, setting down the plates one at a time. There were eggs (sunny side up), bacon, sausage, pancakes, French toasts, hash browns, bagels with cream cheese, and so much more. After that was over, Nicole took her place on the living seat again, wiping her brow with the corner of her apron. "Well... If you want to set a trap for her, you know you need the right bait..." She looked at Jean knowingly. If it was Twilight Sorrow, she failed to kill Nicole once. The blonde was sure if the kidnapper saw her, Twilight Sorrow would try to strike again. ~~~~~*****~~~~~ Danni shoved Noah back as hard as she could, wiping her lips furiously on the sleeve of her shirt. "WHAT THE HELL?! WHAT KIND OF STUNT ARE YOU TRYING TO PULL?!?!" she spluttered, still trying to get the feeling off her lips. "UGH! Lay off!" She stormed passed him before she decided to punch the living daylights out of him. She had no idea what went on in that kid's mind, and she didn't want to know. She was angry and didn't want to deal with any of this. ~~~~~*****~~~~~ Finishing up another comic, Molly took a look around. The many Jeans were working like bees, obliviously set on a desperate mission. She was bored though, but she didn't want to intrude. The four year old hopped off the couch, deciding to go explore again outside of Jean's lab. She quietly ducked passed the diligent workers, escaping out in the hallway. For a while she wandered around mindlessly... She jumped when she rounded a corner, seeing some weird characters that looked like teddy bears standing around a blonde teen. Molly gasped and hid behind a corner, watching the weird characters in awe. ~~~~~*****~~~~~ Kye took her hot chocolate when it was brought to her, sniffing it. Satisfied with the smell, she let her pierced tongue snake out and licked the foam on top of the wonderful drink. Pausing, she glanced at Lucas mid-lick and sat up to attention. "Strange work, hush hush. Strange people, always rush." She shrugged, tapping her top hat in thought. "Been busy with the babies... Hadn't been able to check on Lukey" ~~~~~*****~~~~~ "I don't need your help," Lyle mumbled, writing down notes as activity was happening on the other side of the glass. A robotic feminine voice sounded off in the background of the lab. "If I go here, maybe. No! Wrong move! Okay, this way... Swing. Move, hide-" Lyle turned down the volume of his make-shift radio, making the voice quiet. "In fact, I think you require my help. Your subject is going to die at this rate. Have you any idea what you're doing? I have kept THIS female subject alive for two years... And yours is on it's last legs already..." The doctor peered over his reading glasses to look at his notes, his robotic eye scanning everything on paper. "As a request from my subject... In exchange for her complete and total cooperation, your subject, my prisoner, will be receiving top notch quality care, food, supplements, and medications to survive... If she dies because of your lack of care and thought of the well being of your project, you will owe me." ~~~~~*****~~~~~ Benjamin calmly listened to Jason's lament, organizing files as he gave a careful ear. "Well, I may have a solution to that problem. We have an agent located in Reno, about six to eight hour drive from here. Tyrant-something-or-other is his name... I have it on file somewhere in here... Anyways, I would like someone to check on him, stop on by and say hello... He lost a dear friend to a freak just a few weeks ago. I want to make sure he's not doing anything rash... Tobias might be a good candidate to send our cheers and support..." ~~~~~*****~~~~~ Kiki coughed, massaging her throat as she let her new friend help her up. "I'm okay!" She said with a grin. "Phew! I'm glad he's gone." The shop gradually resumed back to normal, still shaken by the scene. Jex didn't stand around for long though. "Freaks... He knows something." With Colton's kidnapping, and then Ryan's almost attempted one, it couldn't be a coincidence, could it? Pressing his lips together, he ran out of the shop without a word to anyone. He sent a thought out to Christie, and her only. 'He knows something, I'm going to find him... Keep Ryan in the shop.' He saw the man retreating a took a deep breath. This was suicide, but he needed answers for his friends. Running after the man, he called out to him. "WAIT! I NEED TO TALK TO YOU!"
Jex frowned when Christie refused the hot chocolate. It pained him to see his friends putting themselves through so much strain and heartache for Colton. They really needed to find him. The teen sighed out, throwing the towel to Christie before she could reject it. "Danni's at the academy, pretty pissed of. I think she's-" All the sudden, the boy's Spidey-Senses- I mean, telepathic line to Ryan became active. Jex dropped the hot chocolate when he heard the boy's frantic cries for help, turning away from Christie. Ryan, what's going on? Are you okay? More thoughts; the man was there, the man had a gun, Ryan didn't want others to get hurt... Another kidnapping was going down. I love you too, Ryan. Whatever you do, make a scene, something. I'm on my way, keep me posted. Keep telling me where you are. Jex then turned to Christie. He was pale, stricken with anxiety. "I need your help," he said shakily. "Ryan's getting kidnapped as we speak, at the mall. I need to go." Without much of a word, Jex dropped the umbrella and took off sprinting as fast as he could down the street. The mall was about five blocks away. He prayed that he would make it there in time. Please be okay, please be okay... ~~~~~ The pink haired girl watched as the pair went off. She reached out to the man's mind, and then the boy. Something was not right... Without much of a thought, the girl put on a big grin and ran to catch up with the pair with a skip in her step. "HEY BROTHER!" she exclaimed loudly, getting several looks from other shoppers. She then hooked arms with Ryan, smiling up at him. "WHY ARE YOU WITH THIS STRANGE MAN? KIND OF WEIRD OF YOU WALKING OFF WITH SOMEONE YOU DON'T KNOW! STRANGER DANGER, REMEMBEEEEER?" The strange girl gave Ryan a wink and then turned to the man that was rather threatening and on edge. She then cupped a hand under her chin as if she was going to blow him a kiss. Suddenly, a stream of sparkly white, red, hot pink, lime green, and neon blue feathers came seemingly out of no where. She was hoping to blind the guy. Holding Ryan's arm tightly, she gave a good tug to get him away from the man. "Run~" she whispered in a sing song voice and began to start a sprinting spree, trying to drag her new friend along. ~~~~ "Yes?" Benjamin called from his desk. He was wearing his reading glasses, shuffling papers around to organize things better. This was a pain. Due to the killing spree at the casino, Benjamin had to fill out a lot of paper work and even give the manager and the family of the deceased funds as not only as an apology, but to keep them hush hushed. And it was a rather large sum of funds... He was not too happy about that among with other matters. "Come in, come in," he offered the being at the door, figuring someone wanted to talk to him. ~~~~ "Oh my," Kye said as she waltzed in the shop, taking it easy. She examined the mess before her, and then smirked under the shade of her top. "When the Lukey's mad, someone's head gets had." She carefully stepped over spilled coffee and bagel pieces to the table where Lucas was before pulling up a chair to have a seat. She turned it backwards so the back of the chair was to the table edge, straddling the seat, before placing her elbows on the table and then resting her chin on interlaced hands. "So what has Mister Serious in a weather ruffle? Mood matching the light show?" She asked, gesturing her head to the window just as lightening flashed. She then looked to the remaining staff left to tend the coffee bar. They looked so terrified. She smirked again, nodding her head to a girl she recognized from coming here often. Immediately the girl took her cue and began to make Kye's usual order. "Shop of buzzes indeed..."
"WeEeEeE-AHHH!!! Watch ou-" A young, pink haired female crashed into the pair that was heading out the mall, flailing her arms as if to try to fly as she pretty much face planted in the sidewalk. She groaned as she rolled over on her back, getting a crowd around her as she struggled to regain good vision again. She shook her head, and then gave a thumbs up. "I'm OKAAAAY!" She sat up, slowly getting to her feet before she dusted off. She was wearing a purple, old looking helmet with rainbow duct tape at the top to hold it together, elbow pads, wrist pads, and elbow pads. She giggled as she took off her helmet, shaking her hair out. "Whew! That was a doozy." She then found her skateboard, the wheels facing the sky and still spinning like it wanted to give up the ghost already. It too had colorful rainbow duct tape on it as well to match her worn out helmet. She planted her feet on the board, kicking it up for her to catch it. "Yay!" The girl then remembered what happened and gasped. "Oh my sprinkles! I'm so sorry!" She rushed over to the older teen and man, dancing nervously in place. "Are you hurt? Do you need a band aid? Um, I think I have some Mickey Mouse ones and Hello Kitty somewhere," she said, frantically digging through her worn out pockets. "Or maybe you like Transformers... Hopefully I have those on hand!" ~~~ Why don't you come talk to me about that first? Errol said back to Alex in a calm manner. Stop by my office and I'll have something for you to go off of for that job.
"The private jets are on a restricted list. Errol couldn't get anymore information on them without hacking into things he shouldn't..." She breathed out quietly, realizing the seriousness of this situation as it began to weigh down on her. "It's airtight information by the government... Errol said he couldn't hack into that without being traced back. This is all the information we have to work with. We could only see the plane from security footage..." Nicole trialed off when the ended up in his private dorm. She was surprised that it was so vast, almost like an adjacent private living quarters away from everyone else. She watched quietly when the clone placed Jean on the couch and winced in sympathy when he grunted in pain. Nicole felt a tug of guilt in her heart as she watched the man take one glass of milk after another and quietly stood there, looking out a window instead of the scene before her. What ever Jean did every morning looked rather painful. Why was he putting himself through all of this pain? She realized her question was rhetorical the moment she thought it. Why did she stay with a husband that brought her first child into the world by force? Why did she not fight when her parents and his forced them to marry soon afterwards when she wouldn't have an abortion? Why did she stay and let that man torture her and abuse her in more ways than what she thought was even imagined and forced a second child to be born in the chaos? Deep down, she figured she needed to prove herself. That over and over again she kept making mistakes and she needed to redeem herself and that she was the one that needed to make things right. Silly, this wasn't about abuse though and living through it. This was about pain and dealing with loss. Carter was taken from her, the little boy she cherished even though she wasn't ready to have a child at the age of seventeen. Colton was taken away from them and Errol told her that Jean invited him along on the mission. She felt like they could relate on that level of pain... Hearing Jean talk about breakfast, Nicole smiled gently and waved to the clone to have a seat. She then moved to the kitchen after placing the tray with the large file on the coffee table in front of Jean, going to the fridge to see what the man had. She was surprised to see a bounty of food and quickly assessed what was readily available at her hands. She knew she was going to have to make multiple things to sustain the energy that Jean lost this morning, but she was a mother. She learned quickly how to make breakfasts. It took a few moments to find her way around after opening drawers and cupboards to find where everything was at before she pulled out what she needed to get started. She found a mixture of black berries, raspberries, and blueberries and put them in a large bowl with bits of granola while also filling another bowl with yogurt. She moved back to Jean and handed his clone the food to eat before moving back to the kitchen. "How do you like your eggs?" she asked as she pulled out a carton of two dozen eggs, a huge package of bacon, another one with sausage, and a frozen package of pre-made hash-browns. She already placed a pan on the stove and began to heat it up as she put a little butter to begin to melt as she opened the breakfast meat packages. She wanted to get her mind off of something and she wanted to help Jean. That night still resonated with her and she was eternally grateful to him and knew she would forever be in his debt. "On the list, there's a Twilight Sorrow... Take a look. It matches to Molly's pictures, and she said the woman had a hood that looked like a cat..." The mother trailed off as she began to work, not seeing if Jean would take a look or not. Why wasn't she more in-tuned with her daughter... Why did she allow this to happen... "The black list is a bounty list... Posted for only certain people to see. Twilight Sorrow is known for theft, murder, and kidnapping... Apparently she had kidnapped others, but no one can catch her. She even went as far as murdering the victim's family." Nicole instinctively reached up to her neck and rubbed at it before she realized what she was doing. She lowered her hand and focused on breakfast. She was here, she was alive, that was all that mattered. "Her background check and description is underneath that bounty sheet. Her real name is Tempest Abney, age twenty-eight. Rumor has it that she is paid by an unknown source to carry out the deeds. Who she gets paid by, no one knows. I think she was the one that tried to kill me... Molly told Jex that the woman told her that she would try to kill me if she said anything, and that she had been making check-ups on her at night when I was asleep..." Nicole bit her bottom lip, feeling the extreme guilt wash over her. She knew why Molly was afraid to talk to her, but it still pained her to know her child had harbored all this without her knowing. "But if she was there watching the house, that means she was probably not involved with what happened to Colton... But Carter's kidnapping and Colton's could be connected... Someone knew they had powers. Someone knew that Reno was a hotspot... Someone had to." Jex froze in place when the barrage of thoughts flooded his mind. Ugh, not now. Just not now... He was busy. However, he had time to think himself... Silently, he closed his eyes. I want to talk to you too... I'm with Christie right now though, she needs a friend. I'll meet up with you in an hour? Maybe we can go get something to eat or have some hot chocolate... He then opened his eyes again, looking back at Christie with an apologetic smile. "Sorry, someone was trying to reach me through my phone," he said, tapping his forehead.
Errol watched as the clone left the room, figuring that the real Jean was out on his own. He had things to work on right now and couldn't stay and chat unless Nicole or Jean had questions for him. As soon as he could tie up these loose strings, he figured he could focus on other things. Tensions were high right now, and although Errol was Head Master of this place, he didn't have time to be involved with everyone else at the moment. Perhaps I should take time to myself, he thought in his own private space. He did needed to check on the well-being of his other students. Maybe he would get around to that today. After checking on Molly to see that she was fine where she was and the Jean clones didn't seem to mind her presence, the older man waved to the clones before silently exiting the room and headed down to his study. He needed time to think... Anything unusual Nicole had seen these days were no surprise to the young mother anymore as she watched the man scarf down what meager food she brought. Maybe she should have brought more next time. She smiled back to Jean before she let the clone of Jean help the man into the elevator and waited for the door to be close. She wondered how this young individual could take so much on his shoulders all at once. And on top of that, make clones to speed his work even more. The thought of it nearly overwhelmed her. She moved the folder to the now empty tray, letting it rest there as she held the handle with both hands. "Errol helped me retrieve some security footage, following the car that he was taken in. It was an unmarked vehicle, either by thugs or by someone working undercover..." Saying it out loud was more disturbing than writing it down and committing it to memory. If her own new country had turned against those of powers... She pushed the thoughts down of failing Molly and Carter as she cleared her throat. "They ended up at the Reno Stead airport... From there, it gets hard... We found footage of the car driving to a small, private airplane. Errol uncovered the private flight routes, two of them being close around the time Colton was kidnapped. We singled out one of them out through studies of security footage... It was heading to Las Vegas, Nevada, the North Las Vegas Airport. It's not quite at the heart of the city, but there's still a crowd around that area." Nicole paused, taking in a deep breath as they elevator opened and she stepped out. "We don't know what to look for from there. They were lost on security footage... But I'm still trying to pick things out as we speak. Errol also wanted me to show you something... A blacklist." She looked at him, very serious. "He told me the other students are not to get their hands on this, at all. From Molly's therapy sessions with Errol and his nephew, we found someone who fit the description of Carter's kidnapper from the blacklist." Nicole spoke with steadiness. The disappearance of her son still stung her heart, but she had to be strong for her little boy. "Call it a mother's instinct... But having two people with powers kidnapped in the same city at the same place in a short amount of time is suspicious enough... They might be connected."
"Well maybe you should train your useless brain to block me out? Ever thought of that?!" Danni snapped, finally turning to face Alex. "Or go someplace else! No one is holding you back." She wasn't in the mood to talking with others, even though she went seeking to find someone to console her. This wasn't the person she wanted to deal with right now. She clenched her fists, turning around and starting to punch the dummy again as if it was the most hated person on her list she was facing. The kidnappers, the annoying people, the fear, the pain, the madness, just everything was flashing to her. She ignored the sounds of the tennis ball machine, focusing hard on her punches. Hearing Alex talk smack about her family made something scream up inside of her. Only she had that right, no one else did. Not even thinking anymore, she used psionic strength, shattering the dummy into little, itty, bitty pieces. Danni huffed and puffed, shaking out her hand after she had oblivated her target and then turned to face Alex. "If you have a problem with Jex, tell him in person. I'm not his nanny or baby-sitter. I don't care what's going on with him right now. He can handle himself." She then pointed to her head, pressing her finger hard into it. "Learn to turn it off, dimwit." With that, Danni excused herself form the training room by storming off, not in the mood to talk. She didn't care if she hurt feelings, she didn't care if she caused tension, or even left a mess. She was mad, and she had the right to be so. She didn't need anyone to tell her to keep her thoughts quiet or to keep her emotions down. It would only make things worse.
Nicole was walking down the hallway with a tray with a glass of milk on it and a buttered bagel. It was the least she could do for the one that saved her, and it became almost a routine for her in the last couple of weeks of being here. She had a thick folder underneath one of her arms. Through much effort, she was able to gather more information of what happened that night not only for her son's sake, but also for the academy and their lost student who was also kidnapped that night her and Molly left home. It still wasn't much, but it was a start. As she rounded the corner, she jumped when she realized someone else was there and gasped when she recognized the man. "Jean!" One look and Nicole could see the state of being the young man was in. She put two and two together, realizing that he was there with one of his training sessions again. It pained her to see him like this. Even though they really didn't have a chance to get to know each other, he saved her life. Sighing out softly, Nicole looked at the two Jeans, and focused on the one that was the most tired. She wasn't here to lecture. "I was just coming to find you... I think I found more information on Colton's kidnappers..."
The character list is just grooooowing. xD I'm really happy. Accepted. Btw, the codename is just me saying a fancy name for username so we can keep track, but that's okay. xD Gonna add characters in and update the job lists
"I never do anything about the weather, cause the weather's never done a thing for me~" Kytheria sung over the phone, smirking where she was at. "Stop at the shop for buzzes? Coolio." The girl made a gagging sound when he mentioned that this wasn't a date, and stuck out her tongue like she had tasted something gross. "Bleh! Don't jest like that! Truce is all I like." She shuddered and then recovered, stepping away from her window. "Greet ya at the usual Bucks of Star? Half an hour." Kye let Lucas be the one to hang up the phone before she looked over the vast world. The thunder was rumbling and the rain was pelting down hard. Ooo it was a dreary day. That didn't slow down Kytheria though. She put her phone away after Lucas had hung up, grabbing a guitar case and slipped it over her shoulder. Inside it held her katana, but it was less threatening appearing like she carried a musical instrument. Though there was an actual stringed instrument inside. Oh yes, this would be a pleasant break from all the fuss around Raven Sun lately. She had never shown up because of other matters that had popped up. After that, she had been so caught up with other missions from Raven Sun that she never really had a chance to catch up with her friend. She did hear rumors, but whispers through the vines could become clatters of confusion after all... "You're going to catch your death," Jex called out to Christie. He was standing, not too far away with an umbrella in hand and a cup holder with two coffee cups that were steaming and a towel under one arm. "I brought you some hot chocolate... You need to warm up." The purple eyed teen had decided to follow the girl, sensing a great sadness and distress from her. Colton's kidnapping had given everyone a low blow, but he knew that Christie took it especially hard. He knew his uncle would be there to help console the girl if he could, but he was busy trying to find leads of where Colton was. Jex was the designated "psychologist" of the academy, although he hated to be called that. He just knew how to listen to people and read their emotions, even if he didn't use his powers. There was only one person he shut out for now, and that was Ryan. He knew he would have to face the teen again some time, but he didn't want to face it today. The heartache was still real from the words that were said to him, and he was confused himself how things happened. He secretly wish he could take that first kiss back... But now he was here, trying to help a fellow student work through their pain and grief. His feelings could wait. Errol was walking towards Jean's lab, package under arm, wrecking of alcohol, hair messy, and his fuzz on his chin unkempt. The man had dark circles under his eyes as if he hadn't slept good in a long while, and it was true. So many things had happened in one day, it just seemed like it all transpired yesterday. He had stayed up late hours in the night, figuring out what he needed to know, trying to see who had taken Colton and where. If Nicole hadn't been around to help, he wouldn't know what to do. Nicole was great at organizing data, and even finding more clues within the evidence that Errol had gathered over the last few weeks. Then there was Ryan and Jex. Something weird had happened between the two teens, and frankly, Errol didn't want to know. He just knew that Jex seemed more mopey than usual and Ryan was keeping quiet. He didn't have time to focus on love affairs or weird relationships right now. Jex was a big boy, he would be able to handle it. Nicole and Molly seemed fine after Nicole's near death experience, and that was a mystery all on it's own. "Damn we have one basket case after another," Errol muttered under his breath, running his hand through his messy hair frustratingly. He found Jean's lab and heard noises on the other side of the door as if multiple people were running around. Sighing out heavily, Errol opened the door to the lab, bracing himself for the scene he was about to witness. Jean's clones were running around the lab, doing whatever Jean had told them to do. Molly was sitting happily on the couch, swinging her dangling legs as she read what appeared to be a Super Man comic. Errol watched the little girl read the words and look at the pictures with excitement and smiled gently. This was a welcoming sight through the chaos of the last couple of weeks. He knew Jean wasn't actually here though, just his clones. "Hey, I have a package for you guys," he addressed the group of researchers, holding the package above his head for them to see. "Trying to convert Molly into a comic book fan? You start them young." Lyle gave a grunt of slight disapproval as Isabella fetched her subject to study. Of all the things that annoyed him, it was this. It wasn't his fault these people didn't think about containing someone with powers properly. He had them in steel prisons where they couldn't use telepathy, and didn't allow certain things in the cells so that the telekinetic wouldn't get any funny ideas. He had his robotic guards keeping everything in order and be his eyes, but it was still annoying. His research was found out, just as he got a break through. He hoped his colleges wouldn't get any ideas and try to steal his work. Although they were doing a horrible job keeping their subject in top health. The subject was going to die very soon, Lyle could sense it. But it wasn't his business, and he didn't care. He needed to "test" something, get this pent up rage out. As soon as Isabella left with the sickly subject, he went to the cell that Isabella's subject shared with his own subject and opened the prison doors. Mai Kendrick looked up from resting her eyes on her knees, seeing the scientist standing there with a look of anger or annoyance in his eyes. She stood up to attention, wobbling just a bit. She knew it was time for testing, it's what happened. "Before we start today... I want to make an offer." The scientist was clearly cut off guard. Never had his subject spoken so boldly before. He almost wanted to go up to her and slap her with his robotic hand, but he restrained. This was an usual turn of events. "An offer? You have nothing to give me." Mai stood her ground, eyes fierce with determination. "I'll do what ever tests you want, how many of them want, and I won't cry, fuss, or fight unless you want me to. I will do anything you want me to do." Lyle raised his eyebrows. Never had she been so willingly to submit herself in these kinds of conditions. Some days there were fights, other days she just went to the tests mindlessly, but not today. "Why the sudden willingness? Spit it out." "If I do whatever you want me to do for now on, push me beyond my limits, I want Colton to get better care." She clenched her fists, seeing that Lyle was giving a look of resentment. "Please. You can use my food rations for him, use the extra blankets, but... Please. He's sick. I know he's not yours, and all I can offer is using me freely for whatever you want to do... But please." Mai fought back the tears that stung her eyes. She had been in the same prison cell as Colton and did her best to take care of him, but it wasn't enough. This was the least she could do for him. "... You're right, he's not mine to deal with. But... I never seen you so willingly to submit yourself... If you can keep up with what I have to do, maybe I'll take into consideration. You have to prove yourself to me first though." That wasn't the answer Mai was looking for, but it would have to do. "I'll do it," she said boldly, keeping her eyes on Lyle. "Let's go then." Danni walked down the hallway of the training rooms, seeing that a red light was on in one of the rooms. She took one guess of who it was, and thought better to open the door and walk in. She wanted to talk to someone, but she guessed she could manage herself. She just needed to go punch something. Danni walked into the sparing room, seeing a dummy ready to be punched. Wrapping bandages around her knuckles, Danni wasted no time to get into position and began to punch the living daylights out of this thing. She was angry that she couldn't do anything to help, angry that Colton was captured, angry that kids with similar powers were being kidnapped and god knows what was happening to them. She didn't understand pain, she didn't understand sadness, she grew up fine despite the death of her family and the lack of control over her abilities, but it was all crashing in on her now. The ginger let out a cry of frustration, punching the dummy hard, knocking the heavy thing to the ground. The teen walked around like a caged up tiger, slapping her sides frustratingly and even hitting her head a few times with her hands. She growled, throwing a fifteen pound dumb bell hard to the ground before she snapped out of it and realized what she was doing. She was being so stupid. "Pathetic," she whispered, picking up the dumb bell and placing it back where it was. She then picked up the dummy and stared at it for a moment. If she could do anything to get Colton back, she would. Even though she showed her distaste of him many times in person, deep down, she cared. She punched the dummy once with half effort, and then leaned her head on it, letting the droplets of sweat fall to the ground from her forehead as she panted heavily.

As soon as Ken and Becca were done with their tests, Danni closed up shop. Damn it took a long time to get everyone through it. So freaking slow! Maybe there would be a better way to test the dimwits next time. Maybe she would just fight them one on one and see how that would go. Given how many telekinetic students there were, it could be exhausting, but at the same time kind of fun. Danni stopped by her uncle's office, rapping on the door with clipboard in hand. Realizing the lights were off, Danni frowned and opened it. Uncle Errol wasn't back yet... Knowing it was a stretch since Errol was probably far away, Danni reached out with her mind. Hey old man, where are you? We're coming home soon... We need to talk tomorrow... Things had happened. Danni furrowed her eyebrows, not liking the sound of that. What's going on? You sound like crap... Patience, child. I'll tell you in the morning. We'll be back soon. Danni felt her mind disconnect with her uncle and sighed out heavily. She had a feeling that what ever had happened, it wasn't good. She had a gnawing feeling in the pit of her stomach as she set the test result clipboard in a secure place in Errol's office before she walked off to her room. After she had gotten ready for bed, she curled up in a ball under her covers, and fell into a restless sleep. Benjamin walked through a maze of hallways, passing by countless guards and other beings alike. It was drawing close to midnight, but he did not care. He had became caught up in other matters, and now he finally had a chance to focus on the thing he wanted to. The walls were made out of tough metal, almost giving the atmosphere a monochrome appearance. And there was a strange white nose resonating within the walls, giving it a calmly, eerie feeling. He rounded to a door that was also made out of metal, swiped his ID card and scanned his eyeball before it opened to another door. As soon as the first door closed behind him, the second one opened up to a modest room of sorts. There was a queen size bed with furniture to match, and even a desk with a comfortable office chair and some stationary. The "window" was fake. There was no way out into the outside world. The person within the room wouldn't know whether it was day or night if they opened the blinds. There were no clocks, no radios or stereos, no TVs, just boring old books. Rose Reyer swiveled in her office chair when she heard the door open. Angry eyes fell on the old man and her body stiffened in resentment. "I'm not going to tell you anything," she growled under her breath, watching as the old man merely smiled and took a seat on a small couch. "Come now, Dear. You've been here for three weeks! Surely you wish to go home and return to your... normal life." Benjamin placed his hands on the knob of the cane, watching the girl steady. She looked down at the desk's surface, glaring. "Really now, we've been more than accommodating for you. You have been given wonderful food, a beautiful room, and any book you wanted if you would only ask." "Nice or not, you kidnapped me," Rose snapped, staring hard at Benjamin. "When the police hears about this-" Benjamin laughed, shaking his head. "My dear, who are they going to believe? A high school girl with no real foot hold on life? Or an organization that gives back to the poor and helps the public in more ways than what they know..." Rose bit her bottom lip, staring at the floor. The man was right... For all everyone would know, she made up the story to get out of trouble. But... that wouldn't be true. The only one who believed her would be the one that got her here in the first place... It wasn't his fault though, not entirely. The banging of a cane slamming into the floor made Rose jump. She looked up to see that Benjamin's smile had faded and was gazing at her coldly. "If you continue to be this stubborn, so help me, I will resort to other ways to get information out of you. And it won't be pretty... Oh no... It would be worst pain you have ever experienced so far... Far worse than what that telepathic did to you." The man stood up, stalking towards Rose. "I will squeeze every last drop of information from you, and you won't be able to hold back." Rose stood her ground, rising to her feet before the old man approached her. She clentched her fists, watching him carefully. Benjamin stopped walking, standing by the door. Rose spoke, "I'm never, ever going to tell you anything about Jex. Not now, not ever. Do your worst." Benjamin kept a steady gaze before he sighed out, chuckling tiredly. "I'll give you some time to really consider what you're saying... Maybe being locked up in this room will eventually drive you mad... You can only last so long in solitary confinement after all." With a wave of his hand, Benjamin turned to leave. Rose did nothing to stop him and watched him go. When he finally left, Rose moved to the edge of her bed and sat down, staring out the fake window. "Please find me..." she whispered. She looked up at the ceiling. She knew her thoughts wouldn't reach even the strongest telepathist. She already tried to call out to Jex several times, only to receive no answer. Rose buried her head in her hands, feeling a deep sense of doom starting to wash over her. What was she going to do...
You tell me, came the groggy reply. You need time. I need time. Get some rest, Ryan.
It felt like a ton of bricks just fell on him. Jex froze, fighting hard to chase away the frown that was theatening to set it. He was worried about being seen like this? With him? That was a low blow. Jex gently but firmly pulled himself away from Ryan's embrace, trying to not let the darkness that was setting in show itself. His eyes were hidden under his bangs, his dominor changed. The teen stood from the bed, keeping his eyes down as he put his hands in his pocket. "Alright... I'm sorry... Take your medicine and get some rest... Someone will check on you in the morning." He turned away and began walking to the bedroom door. Jex couldn't stay and chat and work this out like a normal person was suppose to do. He felt hurt, crushed even. This was the first time he had actually kissed someone, and it was then tossed into the trash like it was... inconveniant. Never mind it was with another boy (though Jex never imagined it would paly out like this), never mind that they just met that day, never mind he might be slightly older than him, the older teen took it very personally. He wasn't shown that kind of love before, and now it felt fake. Without saying a word, Jex exited the room and closed the door behind him. He took off to his own bedroom, using his card mindlessly to open it before slamming it behind. Not even thinking anymore, Jex walked over to his bed and flopped on the fluffy, grey and purple blankets. He burried his head into one, inhaling it deeply. Why was he so stupid? Why did he kiss back? Why did he allow this to happen? Why? Why? WHY?! "This is why you can't have nice things," Jex muttered to himself. "This is why you can't have connections with people... This is why you're too nice..." Jex felt tears stining at his eyes and cursed under his breath. He wiped them away furiously before sitting up straight, yanking open his bedside table drawer. He pulled out three different kinds of medications and took one pill out of each bottle. Grabbing a bottle of water, he downed the pills and then chased some water down with it to swallow. After that was over, Jex screwed the lid back on before throwing it hard to the dark colored carpet. "Stupid!" He growled at himself. "How could you be so STUPID?!" He scratched his hair in a wild craze before standing up and pacing around a bit, grateful the curtains were tightly drawn shut. Maybe this was why he just didn't have time for love before. Maybe he was suppose to be alone. Maybe he was just... only good for when people needed him the most... "Stupid..." He sunk down on his bed, curling up in a ball before the medications began to take affect, making him drift off into a fitful sleep.
Jex felt chills run up his arm and down his spine when he felt Ryan caress his hand. "I...I...I just need some time," he murmured The teen felt a twinge in his heart, like someone pushed on his heart with a spoon to hurt just a bit. "M-me too," Jex mutteredout, but he ended up taking Ryan's hand and squeezing it gently. Words were going opposite of actions. It was so memorizing yet terrifying at the same time. It was as if they were rebelling some kind of invisible force. When hands began to caress his hair, Jex breathed out quietly, moving his head into the touch. That was one of his weak points, and Ryan, who he just barely met, had found it. Anyone who touched or play with his hair would relax him and then knock him out eventually if they continued long enough. Maybe, just maybe this was suppose to be after all... Jex opened his eyes in time to see gorgeous golden orbs staring back at him so intently. Ryan wanted this, maybe this was okay. Maybe... Ryan touched Jex's shoulder, the place where one of the many scars were on his body from the night he was seven. It didn't matter though. Jex was brought into a warm hug, and he leaned into it, being careful as possible of Ryan's injuries. He sighed out contently, and then inhaled. Ryan smelled like sweat and medical ointments, but that was okay. That all didn't matter. Jex nuzzled his head affectionately into Ryan's neck, hoping that he wouldn't tickle the boy before wrapping his arms around him to return the embrace. Moments passed of them staying like this. Jex could feel his heart and Ryan's heart pounding out of sync, but it was alright. Jex slowed his breathing, keeping himself calm. This felt nice... Soon Jex felt Ryan move his head back and brought his head up, staring closely at the boy. He could feel Ryan's warm breath on his lips and blushed, but stayed close. Soon, the space was closed by the other teen, and Jex felt his heart explode like fireworks inside of him. He pressed into the kiss, forgetting about taking it slow. This felt right. This felt like the moment he had been waiting for a long time. He ran his fingers through Ryan's hair, kissing the boy longer until he ran out of breath and pulled away, panting as his cheeks flushed a dark red. "Should we... take it slow...?" Jex asked breathlessly, staring into Ryan's eyes.
Errol felt the car slipping farther and farther away. He was so focused on saving Colton, he barely had time to look up when something flew at him. "Damn!" But it was too late. Smoke exploded at Errol's feet, and the man stepped back, only to instantly be consumed by it. He coughed and lost complete and total control over the getaway vehicle. The left arm that was extended out immediately begin to lose feeling while the rest of his body just felt strange. He collapsed to one knee, waving the smoke away, coughing as he realized the vehicle was gone, and so was Colton. It was as if something had crushed his heart when he realized what had just transpired. One of his own students, being kidnapped in front of his eyes, and he was too late to save them... The feelings were overwhelming. Screams brought Errol back into reality, and he looked to where Christie was. Forcing himself to stand, he winced as he felt his left leg buckle, but caught himself as he clutched his left arm and hobbled over to her. What ever had hit her was causing some sort of illusion. Errol heavily knelt to the ground, using his right hand to touch her forehead. Though exhausted, the man was using what energy he had left to help the student that he could save. Christie, I'm here. You are just seeing an illusion. Calm down... Take in a deep breath, you're going to be alright.Nothing is happening, you are here with me. You are safe... It's alright... What happened next took Jex completely off guard. The older teen's eyes widened as he felt his breath being taken away by how close Ryan was to him. He never, ever had anyone make a move like this on him in his life. Sure he was nice, but he didn't know he could attract anyone like this before. His mind felt lightheaded, it felt like he didn't even have a heartbeat and he felt his cheeks getting hotter. He didn't have time to react when Ryan suddenly changed directions and kissed his cheek instead. What added even more to the excitement of the scenario was that Ryan had placed a hand over his cheek and caressed it so gently. It was the kind of touch Jex had craved for since he was a child. But now he was a teen, and soon to be an adult. Someone around the same age was giving him the affection that he believed he deserved. When it was over and Ryan sat there, burying his head in his hands. Jex sat on the bed, stunned with what was happening... Wondering what exactly DID happen. He touched his cheek, feeling a tingling sensation there where Ryan's soft lips were. He stared dumb founded at the boy, his moth agape. When he read Ryan's emotions, the teen forgot himself and laughed. "You missed," Jex said quietly, smiling. Were they rushing it, maybe. But Jex never had anyone liked him before, not like this. Was this all of Ryan's doing? He hoped so. He hoped he didn't manipulate this scenario. His uncle warned him so many times about that... He almost knew what it was like when he tried to use his powers on a friend to help her. He almost got them both killed though. He sighed out heavily, folding his hands in her lap as he looked to the floor to give Ryan some space. He didn't know whether to stay or go, or if he should make a move or not. His logical side of his brain was starting to kick in, reminding him that Ryan almost died today, that he had a freaking bullet wound in his chest. Maybe the emotions were just catching up to him. Maybe things were getting confused because of that. He didn't know. He just didn't know. Nicole was panicking for one moment, fighting to live, to survive for her two children. She wanted to be alive when they found Carter, she wanted to watch Molly grow up in a safe, loving environment. No, she couldn't die. She just couldn't die! Then there was a moment of blackness as a tingly sensation took over her body. She didn't even feel Jean grab her nose and chin to force her mouth open. It was as if Nicole was underwater, not here or there. She swore she heard a male voice muttering something, but she wasn't sure. She really had no thoughts to think, just wondering why she couldn't see anything or do anything. The sound started to come back to her ears gradually as gravity caught up to her. She could hear her own breathing, and someone else's. She felt a warm hand on her neck and felt a warm presence sit by her. She was alive... She had lived through what ever hell she just underwent. She felt so exhausted, her lungs aching but she was breathing now. She realized she couldn't move though, her whole body heavy. And it felt moist, like she had been dosed with some kind of water, but it was odd. Whatever happened, she realized one person had just saved her life. Tears formed under Nicole's tired eyelids and spilled out on her cheek. "Thank... you..." she whispered, forcing her words out. She wanted to say more, she wanted to see the face of the one that saved her, but she couldn't. She felt a heaviness on her chest and throat, but it was just the exhaustion kicking in. Molly was sitting there, crying silent tears as she kept her eyes peeled on the world around her. She needed to pay attention, she needed to keep Jean and her mother safe. It was a lot of responsibility for a little girl of four to do, but she could handle it. She remembered her mom telling her she was an old soul trapped in a beautiful little girl. She trusted Jean and had a feeling everything was going to be alright. She could sense the chaos behind her was dying down, but she didn't dare look behind her to see for herself. As Molly looked around, she spotted something on the roof. Jean, she said in warning to the man's mind, keeping her eyes on them. I see someone on the roof... A figure stood there, crouching down when they realized they had been spotted. Only their mouth could be seen in the shadows for the figure was wearing a hood that was in a shape of a cat head with ears poking up, and creepy yellow eyes on top of the hood glinted in the moon light. The edge of the hood had a look as if teeth were there and the face was in the mouth. Molly could see the figure smirk, and then swiped a finger across their throat. They then waved and began to slink back in the shadows. She's going away, Molly communicated telepathically, clutching her teddy bear closer to her chest.
The teen nearly fell off the bed when the question was suddenly dropped. What did he think of the boy? Like... Love? Looks? Powers? Jex was almost confused, and then he forced himself to look at the brown haired boy's eyes. Love... What does think I think about him concerning... love. Jex blushed deeply, clearing his throat. He never really thought much about it. Hell, he didn't think he would have a chance with it because of what he was. But here he was... Staring at it in the face. Jex clapped his hands together, nervously rubbing them together. "Um... Well... I just met you... But you seem really cute, fun, and..." Gosh he was sounding sappy. "Easy going... You seem like you're a very good person." Jex smiled, masking how nervous this was making him feel just blurting this all out. He never really knew how to flirt, he just watched shows and others around him intently to figure out how they did it. Now? He was wondering if this pounding in his chest, the hot feeling around his ears and neck, feeling this freaked out about telling someone honestly what he felt, was natural. Molly watched Jean as things were progressing quickly. Thoughts of stress, drama, pain, a sense of failure... Molly only understood them as heavy, dark feelings. She clutched the bear tightly to her chest, hearing something from down the street. She looked up, only to see nothing but cars, street lights, and houses. The wind was blowing eerily in the breeze. She heard her mom smack her neck, and looked up at her. "Mosquitoes," Nicole muttered under her breath, hurrying Molly down the sidewalk to the car. Molly took one last look behind her before she was made to go in the back seat of a car with her mother. Molly thought she saw a shadow of sorts on the roof and gasped, only to see nothing again. Scared out of her mind already, Molly quickly got into the car with her mother and clutched her teddy bear tightly to her chest. Soon the car was moving and everything was falling into place. Molly still wasn't relaxed though. She watched Jean from the back seat, watching his body language and sensing distress of some sorts emitting off of him. Her mother was almost as tense as him, swallowing constantly and rubbing at her neck. Nicole looked to her daughter though and smiled at her, wrapping an arm around the little girl, who leaned into it right away. Molly looked down to the floorboards, not wanting to watch the world go by. She shouldn't have said anything, should she? Was this going to help them find her brother? Would her mother be happy? Molly was brought out of her thoughts by her mother's movement. It was then the little girl noticed her mother acting oddly. She was blinking her eyes rapidly, turning pale, almost like she was sick. Molly touched her mother's lap, but the woman wouldn't respond. Her breathing started to sound labored, almost raspy. Jean! Something's wrong with my mommy! the little girl blurted out to the man's mind. She was scared. What if the shadow she saw was actually really there? What if the threat that her mother was going to die if she told was now being realized? Nicole was grabbing at her chest, gasping for air. She couldn't speak. She didn't realize anything was wrong until now. The place in her neck where she thought the mosquito had bit her was throbbing. What was happening?
