I think you're having this problem because you forgot to color in the whites of your character's eyes. Instead it's transparent, that's why it becomes the color of the background. My suggestion to fix this is to create a new layer, between your picture and background and fill it in with white to where the whites of the eyes are.
Well I'm guessing most people like to watch animes in their original Japanese cause low production values in dubs make for terrible English voice acting. Hard to enjoy a anime when characters aren't fleshed out and brought to life.

OMGosh! I hate that. It was so hot outside yesterday that I wore light clothes. Then for the next two hours I was freezing in the classroom. I got goose bumps, it was not pretty. >.> Going back outside was like heaven.

The producers did a great job with The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya, Full Metal Alchemist, and Cowboy Bebop. They're some of the few animes animes I prefer watching in English, can't think of any more right now. xD

Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann (overflow of emotions! it literally made my skin tingle and eyes tear up) 3. Death Note (the suspense! I only watched a few episodes, but I know what happens cause of the manga) 4. Over Drive (not the best anime, but it's inspirational) 5. 5 Centimeters Per Second (anime movies allowed? this movie is easy to relate to, and I can't help appreciate the animation)

I suggest Animation Shop 3. It can read any AVI file as long as you have the correct codecs installed, you can then save it as a GIF and it gives you options on compression, giving you control over the quality. It's not free, if you want it, you can PM me for a download link.

I started with Paint Shop Pro, still use Paint Shop Pro. It's cheap to buy, and the customizable workspace makes it really easy to use for both beginners and experts. For GIFs, I use Animation Shop 3, I got it free when I bought Paint Shop Pro 9. It's a really small and simple program that produces high quality results.
