I'm torn between how much to say, because this a game you really want to experience without spoilers. But let me tell you, it's FANTASTIC. The basic premise is a Chrono Trigger-esque time travel RPG, the difference being that this game focuses on two parallel timelines, as opposed to various time periods. The goal of the game is to create a future that doesn't end with a total apocalypse. It's a decently lengthy RPG with GREAT characters, and a surprisingly deep combat system. The combat is your typical turn based affair, but with the ability to knock enemies around a 3x3 grid, which leads to combos, as well as stacked damage. Throw in the ability to swap turns with any character, ally or enemy, and you have a simple but strategic system, which builds gradually as you level up. The story is something special as well, not necessarily in terms of content (you deal with an evil empire and a corrupt religion, bet you can't name any RPGs with THOSE elements in them) but rather in presentation. Special mention should go to main character Stocke, who has one of the best character arcs I've ever seen in an RPG. Oh, and the music is done by Yoko Shimomura, you may have heard of her. So there's that. Oh, and it's created by a veritable all star cast of developers, including people who work on the Persona franchise. Need more reason to buy this game? Take a look at the metacritic page: http://www.metacritic.com/game/ds/radiant-historia All the reviews are green. What's that? You STILL need a reason to buy this game? How 'bout this. It was so good, Atlus actually made a second run of the game do to sheer demand, it's that awesome (and this is Atlus we're talking about, they're poor, they can't do that for every game) Radiant Historia. It's a good, good game. :D
Or something in between? Personally, I stand firmly n the 'gem' category. Re:Coded is my favourite game to play, beaten only by KH2 and BBS. I also think the story is incredibly underrated, with many people saying you only need to watch the secret ending. I dunno, I've always been a 'journey, not the ending' kind of guy, so I just enjoyed the ride. In my opinion it is somehwere around the first or second best written in the entire franchise, with actual character moments and interesting but not overbearing references. The gameplay variety was a welcome surprise as well. I expected that many experimental styles to be bland or buggy, but they all turned out surprisingly well... except for the Wonderland bit, but when has that ever been a surprise? Wonderland is never good. So yeah, all in all, I think Re:Coded is a great game, and doesn't get the respect it deserves (I mean, it followed Days, anything after that's an improvement, right?)
KH1.5 was pretty significant effort put into it, compared to most HD remakes floating around. 3 hours of new cutscenes, enhanced controls, cutscene skip, final mix content, trophies, PS3 skins, and updated models. I can't help but feel like if 2.5 is made, they'll might even further than this. Personally, I'd see KH2 and BBS Final Mix, with updated models, with a Days style movie of either Coded or DDD... maybe both? And the obvious trophies/themes and such. But more interestingly, I'd say there should be soem sort of bonus for having (and beating?) both games, a secret movie, or something? Honestly, a playable KH3 prologue in the vein of the BBS Final Mix secret ending would be badass. Also, BBS should be updated so command styles and D Links stay after pausing. If we get a little more fanciful here, I'd love to see a proper graphical overhaul like Nintendo has done for Wind Waker HD: And if we get REALLY fancy, they should redo all the text based scenes with voice acting :3 what about you?
I feel like people focus too much on whether they like the card system or not. Something I personally find is that CoM has some of the best writing in the series, perhaps only passed by Re:Coded. Honestly, I kind of feel they butchered the script when they made Re:CoM... oversimplified it. Now that I think about it, CoM is kind of the last bastion for the original Kingdom Hearts style, before Nomura went insane :P
Last year I went on a trip with my family to Hawaii. Exploring the city one day, I couldn't help but think about how well it would suit a game in the style of TWEWY: It has a strong Japanese influence Their own colloquial legends A unique city scape Lots of stores Just wandering the streets in the evening kept reminding me of TWEWY, I think Hawaii would be a logical next step for the franchise, provided it doesn't go the way of the Chono franchise...
Seriously, I've finally gotten the chance to play KH2 Final Mix recently, and I always found KH2 easy, so I set it to Critical this time. I was expecting it to just be a difficulty buff/HP halving affair, but they actually seem to have put effort into this one, with all the awesome abilities you start off with and the 50 extra AP. The re-balancing has made this my most enjoyable romp through the game to date (Though Limit Form may have helped a bit :3)
In the vein of Olympus Colloseum from Re:Coded, but fleshed out, obviously. Personally, i loved that world, and I'd love to play a full game like that. It would certainly open up some new possibilities for the franchise. I mean hey, they already have Yoko Shimomura, this would bring them one step closer to the Mario and Luigi RPG series :P
Do you use it interchangeably? Do you refer to Lea as the Somebody and Axel as the Nobody? Exclusively Lea? Exclusively Axel? Personally, I use it interchangeably. As far as I'm concerned, Axel is Lea and Lea is Axel, so I don't worry about the specific name and just use whichever one I feel like
Hi, hatok here. Big KH fan. Videogames are an overall passion. I like pizza, my favourite colour is blue, KH2 is my favourite game in the series, I like video editing, animation and sound stuff. I'm turning 19 in a month and am currently enrolled in university. I'm also Canadian, occasionally suffer from depression, my dream is to be an entertainer of some sort, I have a bad habit of trying to solve other people's problems. I was given quite a few psoitive recommendations about the friendly nature of this site, so I decided to check it out, and now I'm here! Let's see, I think I covered most of my bases here. Anything else, just say the word, ask me anything! (To be honest, I'm probably going to sort of half-lurk around here for a while before I learn the order of things around here...)
