Richie turned his head as he noticed Bryan finally approach Noelle out of the corner of his eye. He manage to overhear Bryan mention him (which made him smile slightly) and Noelle tell him that he said hi. Then, she took Bryan's hand and led him away to another part of the train. Hm, maybe something big was going on between them? The way Noelle looked when she spoke about him, how she'd get all flustered when he wasn't around... could she-?

It wasn't any of Richie's business anyway.

He looked at the empty seat across from him with shallow eyes. Someone appeared and took a seat. The boy's eyes quickly shot down to his lap to avoid eye contact. Like a young child, Richie slowly picked his head but until he was again looking at... Quentin! He let out a sigh of relief as his smile returned. He heard him utter a hello, to which Richie replied, "H-hey there. What's your name?" He stuttered slightly as he spoke gently. It would probably freak Quentin out if Richie knew his name before they'd even ever met. At least in his mind.

This was the first time they properly met, and he was dressed like this...? How embarrassing.

...Noelle seemed a little distracted. Her eyes seemed to pass through him, like she was expecting someone to appear behind him. He supposed it was a good thing, because at least she wasn't focusing on him. Maybe he was boring her though? She was kind, and she didn't seem like the person to just come out and say something like that.

His smile grew wider when she incorrectly guessed his name. He giggled a little. In a way, Richie found it somewhat endearing. "It's Richie, nice to meet you!" The boy allowed his laugh to become louder, just enough that Noelle would be able to hear it. He didn't want her feeling awkward or uncomfortable about her wrong choice.

Ricky was a nice name though.

Then, the girl announced that she was on the search for her brother... her brother, Bryan. Richie felt his heart throb at the mention of his name. They hadn't talked at all while they were at the inn, or the thing. Cocking his head to the side slightly, he replied, "Oh of course. Good luck finding him!" He waved to her as he shimmied past her. Before he took a seat on one of the nearby chairs (they were in a hallway after all), he added, "Can you tell him I say hi, and that we should talk again soon please? Thank you~" His voice was sweet and almost melodic as he politely made his request.

With that settled, Richie happily took his seat and clutched his clothes to his chest. He crossed his legs and slumped in the hard, plastic chairs. It wasn't very comfortable, but it was at least more comfortable than sitting upright. He sighed a joyful sigh and took in everything calmly. The train wasn't very crowded, he noticed. It seemed like the only people on the train were... them. It made him feel a little uneasy, but he brushed it off and relaxed.

Richie shook his head with a chuckle at the girl's response. "No, you're fine. I was actually just hoping we could talk..." He really hope that didn't come off as creepy. "I-I mean, you seem nice to talk with is all. It's been awfully lonely and stuffy with all that's happened, so seeing a friendly face like yours is very refreshing." His smile was bright and genuine. She seeme- wait, what's her name?

"Oh I'm sorry, I forgot to ask you your name," he said with a slightly embarrassed tone. This was good though, this interaction, because she hadn't walked away by now. Maybe she didn't even notice his rather unfortunate appearance. With that thought in mind, he quickly adjusted the towel around his waist so it was even tighter. Now of all times would not be good for the towel to loosen and fall.

Richie pushed through the slur of (previous) camp-goers, looking for someone to talk to. His brief time at the inn was a lonely one, and he craved social interaction. He spotted someone who was calling out Bryan's name. Who was she? She looked awfully familiar, but he just couldn't put a name to her pink hair and shimmering blue eyes. He noticed the bag slung over her shoulder and sighed softly as he approached her calmly.

...When the green-eyed boy headed back to his room, the only things he grabbed were his disgusting clothes and his room key. Shortly after he handed the key to the receptionist, Richie was torn between whether or not he should keep the clothes. He'd probably never wear them again, and yet he felt some kind of emotional attachment towards them.

    How odd.

He ultimately decided to bring them along since they were at least semi-dry. Besides, he couldn't wear this pale blue towel forever. He stepped onto the... shit, what were these things called? Ugh, he couldn't remember... not that he cared much anyway. At least the operator was nice. He took a seat next to some random individual towards the front of the... thing.

The ride to the train station was bumpy, and awkward. He had no one to talk with, and everyone he did know was either sitting too far away from him or already engaged in conversation. The ride took much longer than Richie expected, much to his dismay. At least it was finally over as the thing skidded to a halt. His miserable excuse of clothing tucked under his arm, Richie stepped onto the train.

...Overall, his experience at... wherever this place was, wasn't one of his best. These memories would surely be ones he'd try to forget just because of the sheer boredom. Even recalling the events that happened so far today made him depressed. This was absolutely... ah, he didn't even have a word for it. All he knew was that he was not enjoying himself.

The girl in front of him seemed sweet enough to talk with. Hell, even she wasn't, at least he'd be talking to someone. "Hi there," he said kindly. He looked down at his wardrobe awkwardly, and was already regretting this. Richie would surely come off as totally weird. He'd probably never speak to whoever this was again. Still, he kept a weak smile as he shuffled his feet, waiting for her reply.

ooc: brief, suggestive // mature theme i guess...?

Richie awoke feeling refreshed and alert. His limbs felt much better also, which was an added bonus. He pulled the covers off of him, then realized he fell asleep in his clothes... boy, he must smell pretty bad. After existing the bed and slipping into the complementary slippers that came with the room. The front of the pale blue slippers were decorated with little candies, like lollipops and gumdrops. It was sooooo cute, in fact Richie was probably going to keep these after his time at the inn ended. He looked around his room, which was much more empty than he thought. Where was all his stuff...?

...Oh shit that's right! Fuuuuuuuuck... his Cupid's Brew, his BonBon, and all his clothes were probably at the bottom of the sea! He groaned heavily, and counted to ten calmly. It was fine... it could all be replaced, it would just take some time. Wait, most importantly, his pills! He quickly searched his pockets and discovered it in his back pocket. They were perfectly safe in his air-tight container. After the tightness in his chest faded, Richie headed into the bathroom and stripped. These clothes... they were the only thing the boy could call his own anymore (at least until he returned back home). He turned on the water and stepped into the shower, sighing softly. He allowed the warm and relaxing stream to envelope him. It was all so soothing, and especially after the past couple of days he survived through. He was so tempted to... pleasure himself to relieve all his bottled stress. But alas, he wasn't in /quite/ the mood for that sort of action. Maybe another time...

After he finished scrubbing himself clean, he stepped out of the shower and wrapped his waist with a towel. He slipped back into his slippers and picked up his clothes. These were pitifully disgusting, and he slept in this? Ugh, even after his shower, he still felt pretty gross. He stepped out of his room, which made him slightly embarrassed. He was shirtless, and the only thing separating him from utter public embarrassment was a thin towel. Great... but what other choice did he have?

Richie walked into the dining room area and took a seat in one of the vacant chairs. There were others in the room that he didn't recognize, which him feel even more uncomfortable. However, despite this, a few faces stood out like Elisa, Tucker, Bryan, and Quentin. However, they were engaged in conversation and it'd be rude to interrupt. They all looked like they enjoyed each other's company... he frowned slightly.

...He really hoped nobody was staring at him, and most importantly, judging him. He swallowed hard and allowed his eyes to focus on the folded hands that rested on his lap.

Richie must've passed out, because the last thing he remembered was him being brought onto a boat. He remembered the pungent smell of blood and sea water as he was freed from his watery prison. His arms felt numb, so he could barely feel the person shaking him fiercely. It wasn't anyone he recognized. With the help of the kind woman, Richie exited the car and began looking around. He was in front of... an inn? He could barely read the pink sign above the building with his blurry vision. He felt groggy, like he was actually there. He heard an older gentleman instruct those who were injured to head to the clinic, and for the others to enter the inn. Quickly searching himself, Richie found no serious traumas other than the fact he felt he could collapse any minute. His wobbly legs, which also felt pretty numb, had a hard time keeping his body standing. However, he deemed himself secure enough to
make it through the night without medical attention.

He leaned on the woman, who was dressed like a nurse, and she led him inside the inn. From what he gathered, the clinic sent a few nurses out to help with the disoriented and/or incapacitated. However, not many people were here in the first place so there was an abundance of nurses. Another came and held up the other side of Richie as the trio reached the front desk of the inn.

"Hi, how can I help you?" asked the receptionist sweetly. Wasn't it obvious...?

Richie sighed and groaned slightly, replying, "Hi... uh, my name's Richie and I'd like a room please. There was a ferry accident and there are those here who need rooms too."

The receptionist nodded. "Of course, right this way please." She grabbed a key as one of the nurses let go of Richie and began writing on a piece of paper on the desk. It must have been the sign-in sheet, he assumed. As the duo followed the receptionist, the nurse kept pestering him with questions. He answered them to the best of his ability, but his knowledge of the whole situation was minimal. Once they reached his room, the receptionist unlocked the door and handed him the key. The nurse asked if he would be fine, to which he replied, "I will be, thanks." He smiled at her and made his way into the room, pressing his arm against the wall to keep his balance. He collapsed onto the bed, his face looking up at the ceiling. He really needed someone to talk to.

Someone to talk to... what about Elisa? Was she okay?! The boy didn't see her when he stepped out of the car. His heart skipped a beat at the thought of his friend not making it. He gulped as his chest suddenly felt heavier. His breaths became shallower. His chest pounding faster. "Please... please be okay..." he whispered to himself as he drifted off to sleep.

ooc: so much for a relaxing journey... :c

"I live near Red Bank. I can walk there if I have the energy."

Richie smiled brightly at Elisa as she uttered those sweet words. That was such great news! Maybe they could hang out regularly then! Oh that'd be so much fun! The cheerful boy could see it now: them going to Red Bank's famous downtown area and eating at his favorite eatery, Funk & Standard. The very thought of it made Richie giddy with excitement!

Richie's mood changed drastically as the ferry jerked forward, causing him to fly into the table and fall to the floor in pain. He clutched his stomach as he attempted to stand up and look around. The faint sound of splashing could be heard and Richie began to feel his feet slipping. He started shaking at the sounds of the screams as he grabbed onto the stand of the table and pulled himself up. He looked up to Elisa, who seemed to be frozen at the whole situation, with disheartened eyes and felt his fingers slipping. Was... he going to die?

Using all the adrenaline in his body, Richie somehow managed to actually pull himself up. But this wasn't over yet. He quickly scanned the area, and spotted the windows in front of him. Thank goodness he picked a seat by them. The ferry was at such an angle that Richie could sit on the stand without falling, but it still wasn't completely vertical. Taking a deep breath, he grabbed one of the empty chairs and began bashing the window furiously with it.

Richie was starting to get tired. Maybe he was actually going to die today. He felt tempted to give up and just accept death, until he noticed Bryan next to him pounding at the window. It was... insane how he managed to break the glass. He tried to make it over... but he just couldn't. Tears began streaming down his face as the ferry finally tipped over. Richie was flung onto the ceiling.

The main floor was filling up with water. Fast. Richie inspected the area once again. Again he noticed the windows and the water pouring out of them. Desperately, he swam to it. This pressure was intense. He waited for the dining area to fill up with water. Taking the biggest breath of his life, Richie plunged into the water and forced himself out the window with the help of the table stand. He bent down, pushed off the stand, and swam through the window with the helping force. Once out from under the boat, Richie quickly swam up to the surface. It was a lot further away than he thought, and he was starting to fell lightheaded. But at last, he made it. He gasped for air and, with the last of his stamina, began swimming away from the sinking ferry.

Bryan smiled at Richie brightly as he spoke about how horrible he felt, which seemed a little odd. But at least it was better than him completely breaking down in front of them, that's for sure. After finishing, Bryan seemed a little flustered as he removed his hands from Richie and Elisa. Richie sighed and frowned a little as Bryan asked, "Sooo, what'd you guys have planned for the rest of the summer, now that camp is cancelled?" That was... a good question. The blonde-haired hadn't really thought about that. He flashed a glance at Elisa and wondered if they could hang out over the summer. Maybe they even lived in the same town...! Maybe they could hang out everyday!

Richie pulled out his bottle of pills and swallowed one; he felt that... urge again. The need to constantly be around someone. The need to have only them. He loved and hated the feeling. Sometimes he didn't want to take his medication because that desire was so overpowering. But he knew what he became when he didn't, and he despised it.

Richie looked back to Bryan, who snapped him out of his thoughts. He replied, "Um... I don't really have any plans of yet, unfortunately. Do either you live in Red Bank by chance? Maybe we could hang out sometime..." He smiled at them both and felt that he was still blushing a little. Richie noticed Bryan pull out his phone, which made him frown again. Were he and Elisa not interesting enough for him? How rude.

"Honestly, I think this thing has anything! We should go exploring later... OH! I wonder if there's internet!"

Richie giggled at his friend's enthusiasm and pulled out his phone, which he retrieved from a random counselor just before reaching the dock, and decided to aid her in her wonder. He saw her reach down into her bag and noticed... something as she pulled out her phone. Could that've been... the Cupid's Brew bottle? It looked awfully familiar, at least. He was practically leaning over the table, and with a low whisper, was planning on questioning her about it. Then, an all too familiar voice rang through his mind. Richie quickly receded back to his chair as Bryan came into his field of vision.

...He didn't look well. He was apologizing something fierce as he grabbed onto Richie's and Elisa's hands. A chill ran down his spine as the two made contact and Bryan began squeezing. "I'm really, really, really sorry for leaving you behind in the forest, I didn't mean to! Are you guys okay? You didn't get hurt did you?" Richie was left speechless as squeezed back and stared into his deep green eyes passionately as they shifted between his and Elisa's. After Elisa accepted his apology, he nodded his head in agreement. He looked to Elisa, who seemed to be blushing a little. Did... did she like Bryan too?

Richie soon realized him and Elisa had quite a few things to discuss... but now what definitely not the time for an interrogation. Drawing his attention back to Bryan, Richie added to Elisa's thought, "Yeah, we're both fine thanks." He sounded a bit awkward when he spoke, so he cleared his throat and continued. "What happened with you? I didn't see you at the hospital and I was a little worried because... I heard that someone died in the fire and I was really scared it was you..." Richie squeezed a little harder.

The death was quite depressing and almost... frightening. But Richie wouldn't let those sad thoughts ruin his time with Elisa and Bryan. He continued to smile at the two as he waited for them to reply.

Richie still felt horrible and awkward about the whole Tucker... situation as he packed up his suitcase and carry on bag. He opened a pocket hidden in the bulk of the suitcase to see if it was still there. Oh good, it was still secure; he payed quite a bit of money for this so-called "love potion", so it'd better not have broken. The bottle the potion came in was just the cutest thing, but it was glass so Richie had to surround it with his favorite plush bunny. BonBon, as he called, looked like it was hugging the potion, which gave the boy a goofy smile. He closed the pocket, and continued to pack up his things.

Double checking his portion of the cabin, Richie determined he had everything stored and departed. After he was greeted by the bright sunlight, which blinded him momentarily, he surveyed the area around him. He saw others packing their items as well; the whole sight was quite depressing to him. After only three days, the camp was cancelled and he would be forced to head back to his hometown. He had nothing against his town, but it was just saddening that all his summer plans of practicing his vocals and clarinet and meeting new people in a fun atmosphere were ruined... maybe even hooking up, if he got lucky.

    ...Pfft, who was he kidding...?

Richie paced his way to the buses since he was in no hurry to leave the camp as of yet. Unfortunately, he eventually reached the buses and spent a minute or two deciding which on to join. With a cursory scan of each bus, he spotted Elisa through one of the open windows. He smiled slightly and hopped on the bus she was on. He moved quickly, a drastic change compared to before, so no one would steal the spot he mentally-reserved next to his friend. But before hopping on the bus, Richie pulled out his bottle of pills and popped one in his mouth. He shivered as he stepped onto the bus. Waving to Elisa as he walked, he made his way to her seat and sat down next to her. "You don't mind if I sit here, right?" Richie asked with a chuckle and a beaming smile. Almost immediately afterwards, Richie heard the engine hum and the bus began to move.

The bus ride to the ferry dock was mostly quiet, especially between Richie and Elisa surprisingly. Sure there was a little small talk but they definitely were't concrete discussions, lighthearted or not. As rude as it seemed, Richie almost wished the trip would end soon just to end the awkward silence that loomed over them. At long last, his wish was granted and they soon arrived at the ferry dock. Richie, as he stood up and grabbed his suitcase and carry on, reached out with his other hand and helped Elisa up. He gripped her hand gently, and led her off the bus after she gathered her belongings. He looked back to her as they walked onto the quasi-sidewalk, which led to the ferry, with a toothy grin. After walking up the stairs, the duo reached the main floor which Richie thought looked very nice. His previous gloom mood vanished as the boy breathed in the crisp sea air. He guided Elisa to one of the tables and took a seat, saying, "This is pretty exciting, yeah? What do you think they have on this ferry?"

The blonde haired boy spotted his companion as she approached him and her familiar voice rang through the particularly stuffy crowd, "Richie! You're here too, I can't believe it!" Elisa seemed a little too excited, to Richie, about the fact that they both ended up at Westerfield, but he understood because at least now she knew she had someone to talk with. That incident yesterday was one that could scar even the toughest of minds, and releasing those frightening thoughts verbally could do nothing but help... well, at least it was better than keeping them bottled up inside. Richie smiled at Elisa and attempted to greet her, until he heard a much more husky voice appear from behind, "Come on you two, we should head back." He froze, his throat suddenly going dry, as he recognized the voice: Tucker, another one of his crushes. Oh. Shit.

Taking a deep breath, Richie hopped into the cab along with Elisa as Tucker held the door open for him. "Thank you," he uttered as he squeezed in next to his friend to make room for the counselor. The backseat area was pretty small, even for a taxi, so by the time Tucker got in and shut the door, all of them were pressed into one another. Richie remained calm and collected as Elisa introduced the duo to Tucker.

...Why was he so nervous? He was comfortable with Bryan last night during the scavenger hunt, but with Tucker... it was different. His hands felt sweaty and clammy, and he suddenly felt the need for some water. Did he like Tucker more than Bryan? It was all so confusing to poor Richie, who was trapped in a flurry of romantic emotions. He took another deep breath and cleared his mind of all his troubling thoughts. At least he felt a little at peace now.

The taxi veered left sharply at an intersection, which caused one of Richie's hands-- which were previously resting comfortably on his lap-- to land straight on Tucker's... unmentionables. He felt his pale face turn bright red as everything suddenly became hotter. He promptly removed his hand from Tucker's vicinity, and apologized quickly, "Oh my gosh I am so, so sorry!!" Richie hoped neither of them noticed his blushing cheeks.

Richie dazed in and out of consciousness as he attempted to sit up in the rather uncomfortable bed he was in. He tried to focus his blurry eyes on the white-washed wall in front of him. Eventually, once his eyes adjusted to the scenery, Richie looked around the room curiously. This looked like a... hospital? Perhaps Westerfield? Gah, his head throbbed too much for this type of senseless thinking. He thought back to before the... it was a fire right? He looked down at his arms, which were discolored, and he figured that must have been it. They didn't hurt much though, and-- upon seeing what he assumed was an IV tube in his arm-- he figured it was some type of painkiller that was reducing his pain. Thank. Goodness.

Sitting up higher in his bed, Richie remembered back to before the fire broke out. He was with... Elisa and Bryan at the Scavenger Hunt event. Bryan... took his hand and led him down a slope and... Richie tripped on top of him. A smile developed on the boy's face, despite it only lasting a second or two. He released a sigh, which morphed into a groan. Suddenly, Richie felt his body freeze up. What about Elisa, and Bryan, and everyone else?! Were they all okay?! He shuttered at the thought of anyone else being stuck in this dinky hospital, or... worse. his imagination taking told, Richie pushed the gruesome images out of his mind and focused on relaxing. He allowed his body to sink into the pillow supporting him. How... nice...

Richie heard a cheerful voice from beside him, and immediately afterwards felt a tight grip on his hand. He turned to see Elisa beaming brightly at him. He couldn't help but smile back; he tightened his grip on her hand so she would know he happily accepted the playful gesture. Though the two had yet to speak since their arrival at camp, he felt an instant connection between them and it got him even more giddy. He was so ready for this scavenger hunt. Richie turned back to Elisa and replied with a giggle, "Let's do this!"

The duo followed Bryan eagerly as he led the group to the East Woods. He spoke with a somewhat firm but genuine tone; his voice was music to Richie's ears. "That'll be me, Elisa, and Richie--" That's all the sixteen year old needed to hear. His heart skipped a beat and fluttered in his chest lightly as he looked up to Bryan, his cheeky grin even larger than before. He was practically jumping up and down as he turned to Elisa, who he figured would appreciate his happiness.

Again, they followed Bryan to another spot. Apparently, despite this being his first year as a counselor, he was well-versed in the ways of the Camp Fortissimo Scavenger Hunt. This lifted Richie's spirits even higher, if that was even possible. Bryan headed for an old tire swing, and began searching there. He quickly took in his surroundings, and flashed his flashlight on random spots in the woods. Soon enough, something caught his eye as he hovered over it with his light. Even with the light though (which wasn't even that bright to begin with), Richie had a hard time seeing if something of value was there or if it was just a plant or something. What could it be...?

Surveying his surroundings with sparkling green eyes, Richie focused at the counselor Kevin in front of him. He sighed and adjusted his oversized, thin mint green sweater. He checked his black shorts and pair of hightop Converse for any imperfections. He had to look nice for this scavenger hunt since you never know whose eye you could catch, right? His eyes diverted to Bryan, his group leader. Oh boy he was fine! He had caught Richie's eye last year when he first came to Camp Fortissimo. At first he was reluctant to go; he'd already spent a whole school year at Fortissimo Academy, and he had to spend his summer stuck there too?! But, as it turned out, the whole camp experience wasn't so bad and he actually enjoyed himself. Plus, he made some new friends along the way! But none of them seemed to be attending the camp this year, unfortunately. It had been a while since Richie had any friends, because of his disorder. Thankfully though, his parents finally agreed to get him the therapy he needed... but with it came the pills. Oh how he hated the pills.

Richie reached into his back pocket and pulled out a small medicine bottle full of those horrid things. He tentatively picked one out and quickly popped it in his mouth. He swallowed and stuck his tongue in disgust immediately afterwards. The pills themselves had no flavor, but he simply hated the feel of it sliding down his throat. Ugh, at least he was getting better though. Putting the bottle back into his pocket, he looked back to Kevin who had just finished speaking. "What'd he say...?" he asked himself. Wiping some sweat off his forehead, Richie shrugged and saw flashlights being passed around. Oh right, the scavenger hunt! Richie looked around to his fellow teammates, who seemed like a unique bunch. Perhaps this year won't be so bad as well...!

A question put their feelings on hold,
    dismany over another chance.
    "Hope"... "revenge"... the widow,
    cursed to a torn fairytale,
determined to search for a shocking secret.

    Her answer coming soon.

A meaningful gift, having feelings, persuaded him to go.
An understanding: an unlikely source of nerves
A surprising announcement concerning her future.
A confession of mystery and struggles.
A secret from her nearest and dearest.

Can she let go of what she really wants?

( this was extracted from the "tv tropes" section of the april 22nd, 2013 edition of the new york times...

here's a picture of what it actually looks like... )
