"You look like you could use some good rest. Maybe you should try and eat a little?" Bryan nudged the box of chicken nuggets towards Richie. He shook his head no adamantly. He continued, "At least try. I know this sick feeling is still overwhelming, but it'll be worse if you don't eat..." The boy sighed, figuring he was right as he picked one up and are it hesitantly. He was afraid of swallowing, since he might puke it back up right on Bryan. But holding the mushy mess in his mouth would do no good either, and he was pretty hungry ( as much as he didn't want to admit it ). Richie swallowed the nugget and... nothing happened. His stomach felt settled, which caused him to smile slightly at Bryan. His crush was right, he did feel better.

Richie opened his mouth to thank Bryan for the food, but before he could even utter a syllable a scream rang through the McDonald's. He felt his body instantly freeze as he slowly turned around, terrified of what he might see. He closed his eyes as his body was completely turned... he was so curious as to what was happening, but he knew if he looked he'd be mortified. The numerous shrieks that followed the original forced Richie to view the horrific scene in front of him.

Three... three people were on the floor. Blood was spilling out of one's mouth, and the two others... oh God. The boy's eyes began to water as he felt his stomach churn, and the vomit soon followed. He clutched his stomach as he collapsed to the floor. This was... a nightmare. People were dying right in front of him... people were dying...

Richie forced himself up and immediately grabbed a napkin from the table, wiping the residue from his lips. He tossed it to the side and felt his body freeze again. The full reality of what was happening finally sunk in... he was petrified. He literally couldn't move a muscle; his breathing became raspy and shallow as it became harder and harder to breathe.

A gentle hand, placed on Richie's shoulder, broke his frozen state. He didn't care who it was; he turned around and hugged them tightly. He looked up through his tears, and saw it to be Tucker. He clenched tighter as he said firmly, "Take Elisa and wait outside. You don't need to see anymore of this." Richie detached and nodded, quickly locating Elisa. As he began to walk, his friend following close behind, another approached him.

It was the blue haired girl... Lexa(?). Through her uneven breaths, she managed to ask, "C-Could you... Take Natalie with you? I don't want her to be in this anymore, and she's already so scared... We all know I may get arrested today, and I don't want her to see that. She's too shaken up... Please... Just... Take her home." Richie didn't know the girl too well, but nonetheless he accepted her request. Who was he to reject it anyway...?

Despite never meeting Natalie before, Richie easily found her. He'd seen her around quite a few times, so he easily recognized her petite frame. Grabbing her wrist with his other hand, he led her outside along with Elisa. She fought back, naturally... she must have had a real deep connection with... them. He couldn't even bring himself to... his thoughts trailed off. His mind was racing faster than he could process, and it made him feel light-headed. Not even the brisk air helped.

    ...He began to weep.

Richie exhaled an uneven sigh as he practically collapsed onto the booth nearest to him. He felt sick to his stomach after seeing... it. The blood... the icy glaze over the man's eyes. He shivered at the recollection, and looked around the fast-food restaurant. People were eating... how? His head slammed onto the table. There was a fucking dead body for goodness sake! Despite his stomach growling menacingly, Richie knew any food he ate would come right back up... it already did. He upchucked his breakfast not too long after first seeing it.

He needed to be around someone right now. Someone... someone he cared for. Picking his head up, he searched the area for someone familiar. He didn't see Elisa anywhere, so he figured she was still outside by the truck. He would go out and find comfort in her, but he was not going out into the bitter cold again. He silently apologized to his best friend for his negligence, and continued searching. At last he spotted someone: Bryan. Just looking at the handsome man made Richie feel a little better.

The boy realized how weak his legs felt as he stood up. They weren't exactly sturdy, which ( he assumed ) was normal after the past few hours he'd experienced. He attempted to run-walk to Bryan, but it ended up becoming a steady limp.

Wow, that table seemed a lot further than he expected.

Richie reached the table with the smile as he took a seat across from Bryan. While limping, he thought about how he would approach him. Should he show his true feelings, or should he put on the guise of a timid smile? The decision was obviously clear. Despite already taking the chair, he felt compelled to ask, "M-mind if I s-s-sit here...?" His teeth chattered. Odd... he didn't feel cold, though his quivering lips and wavered speech were obviously enough. It was soon followed by a muffled cough.

Richie felt like exploding everything he felt to Bryan in a slur of quick and desperate speech. Instead, he remained his composure in front of his crush... maintaining his calm demeanor wouldn't hurt, especially at a time like this. Throughout their ( hopeful ) conversation, he would express his emotions subtly. For now, he kept silent as he did not know what to say. The awkward silence between the two made him uncomfortable...

    "H-how are you h-holding up? How's N-Noëlle? Sh-she didn't look so well l-last time I saw her..."

As Elisa grabbed his hand and began pulling, Richie happily gave in and followed her. Together, the kawaii duo explored the colorful shoppe. His hands somehow found their way into one of the mounds of candy. He really shouldn't... he would surely throw up, which would ruin his sweet experience with his bestie!

Richie's head titled in confusion as Elisa stopped abruptly and detached from him. He had been too busy ogling over the cute scenery to even notice where he was going. Somehow they ended up on the second floor? Heh, he couldn't even recall going up a flight of stairs. The inquiring thoughts dissipated as the boy finally noticed what his friend seemed so distressed over. A locked gate?

    ...How weird.

Why would a gate need to be locked in a cute place like this? Was there something bad up there? Richie allowed his mind wander and fill with possibilities, some of which were not the most friendly. Maybe it was just the way to a storage room, or the janitor's closet? In a place like this, there's no way it could have been anything scary... right?

"Um... I think we might get in trouble if we stand by here, Elisa." He said gently to his friend. He grabbed her hand once again and led her near the flight of stairs that led back to the first floor. Luckily, there were a bench not too far from the stairs and Richie took a seat. Crossing his legs, he motioned for his friend to come sit down with him.

"Look at all of this Richie! Isn't it so cute?! We should look more inside! What do you say?"

Richie examined the building in front of him with bright eyes. Elisa was right, this place was sooooo cute~! He couldn't help but be giddy about the kawaii experience. "Of course...!" The boy couldn't mask his enthusiasm, not that he wanted to. He genuinely felt cheerful and perky! Richie hadn't felt this excited over anything in quite a while, and he found it refreshing. Taking his best friend's hand, he led her into the candy shoppe.

Everything looked like a little kid's dream. The atmosphere, the scent, the candy... it was all so exciting! The blonde-haired boy felt like a child again! He surveyed the area around him and spotted the candy that was littered all over the building ( in the sense that candy was everywhere teehee ). He was tempted to try some,--since it all looked so yummy--but he managed to eat back at the inn before the rude secretary ( Cane, was it...? ) booted them out. Richie was full, and he felt he couldn't eat another bite. His stomach was bothering him as it was, and adding some sweets to the mixture would not go well for the boy.

Still, Richie smiled cheekily. He noticed some stay outside, which he found a little peculiar. This place was so cute, how could they not want to come in? He tried uncovering their rationale, but quit soon after to admire the scenery again. He looked to Elisa and said with a giggle, "This place is like a sweet dream, don't you think?"

"Hey uh... Richie, right? Are you alright?"

Richie looked up as he heard a concerned voice loom over him. He made eye contact with the older man, and blushed slightly. After a second or two, he looked away from Tucker's eyes to avoid any awkwardness. He didn't want to seem rude either, so he quickly decided he'd go with the stretching option. This was one of Richie's most common "eye contact avoidance" moves; this came especially in handy as those awkward family dinner parties. Some other popular ones were the brief eye rub, the closed eyed yawn, and the abrupt, fake cough. All of them seemed to work pretty well for Richie whenever he was in a tight squeeze.

The blonde-haired boy arched his back over the top of the chair, which lifted the front two legs of the chair ever so slightly. He became a pro at all his tactics, but this on especially; too many times he had stretched to far back and ended up falling backwards in a fit of panic and shock. Those were not fun, and were counterintuative to his goal of making the atmosphere as comfortable as possible. As he leaned back, he replied, "Y-yeah, I'm fine thanks... just a little tired and chilly is all. How are you, T-Tucker...?" He, obvioisly, was nervous around his crush and it resulted in a stammered speech. That coupled with blushing were tell-tale signs of affection, and Richie wasn't sure what Tucker's orientation was. No matter what it was though, it would still be super awkward... especially considering what happened on the taxt ride to the ferry.

Gently easing the chair back on all fours, Richie added, "Would you like to sit?" He smiled geuinely at the man as he patted the open chair next to him. Hopefully he'd accept, and they could have a nice, enlightining conversation. Maybe he could even learn about his crush too: what he liked in a partner, what his type was, and maybe even a confession... Oh he was getting ahead of himself. But still, the daydream made the boy even perkier!

Oh, he just had to say yes...!

location: room // inn mood: embarrassed theme: do you want some tea?
    affection: -- ♡ ♡ ♡ ♡ ♡ ♡ ♡ ♡ ♡ ♡
ooc: brief, suggestive // mature theme i guess...?

Richie awoke feeling refreshed and alert. His limbs felt much better also, which was an added bonus. He pulled the covers off of him, then realized he fell asleep in his clothes... boy, he must smell pretty bad. After existing the bed and slipping into the complementary slippers that came with the room. The front of the pale blue slippers were decorated with little candies, like lollipops and gumdrops. It was sooooo cute, in fact Richie was probably going to keep these after his time at the inn ended. He looked around his room, which was much more empty than he thought. Where was all his stuff...?

...Oh shit that's right! Fuuuuuuuuck... his Cupid's Brew, his BonBon, and all his clothes were probably at the bottom of the sea! He groaned heavily, and counted to ten calmly. It was fine... it could all be replaced, it would just take some time. Wait, most importantly, his pills! He quickly searched his pockets and discovered it in his back pocket. They were perfectly safe in his air-tight container. After the tightness in his chest faded, Richie headed into the bathroom and stripped. These clothes... they were the only thing the boy could call his own anymore (at least until he returned back home). He turned on the water and stepped into the shower, sighing softly. He allowed the warm and relaxing stream to envelope him. It was all so soothing, and especially after the past couple of days he survived through. He was so tempted to... pleasure himself to relieve all his bottled stress. But alas, he wasn't in /quite/ the mood for that sort of action. Maybe another time...

After he finished scrubbing himself clean, he stepped out of the shower and wrapped his waist with a towel. He slipped back into his slippers and picked up his clothes. These were pitifully disgusting, and he slept in this? Ugh, even after his shower, he still felt pretty gross. He stepped out of his room, which made him slightly embarrassed. He was shirtless, and the only thing separating him from utter public embarrassment was a thin towel. Great... but what other choice did he have?

Richie walked into the dining room area and took a seat in one of the vacant chairs. There were others in the room that he didn't recognize, which him feel even more uncomfortable. However, a lone face stood out: Tucker. He announced a cheerful good morning greeting to all in the dining room; it certainly perked up the atmosphere of the room. The almost-naked boy couldn't help but smile.

...He really hoped nobody was staring at him, and most importantly, judging him. He swallowed hard and allowed his eyes to focus on the folded hands that rested on his lap, his smile slowly disappearing.

Richie had almost fallen asleep several times as he sat on the sweet-smelling chair. His eyes felt heavy, and they were drooping on and off. No one seemed to want to talk to him, which was okay with him. He was too tired to be in the mood for chatting, anyway.

With the nurses gone, and the secretary obviously not giving two sh/i/ts about him, Richie had to help himself
up out of the chair. His legs still felt wobbly and unstable, which made the boy nervous. He would've asked someone around him for help, but he imagined they were just as tired and cranky as he was. Plus, it'd probably be too troublesome as well. He sighed gently, and slowly edged his way to his room.

Shoving the key into the door, Richie practically ran and collapsed onto the bed as he opened it. It felt so plush, and it smelled like sugary lollipops. Stripping off his disgusting clothes, the green-eyed boy curled into a ball under the covers. It wasn't really cold, per se, but his drenched clothes certainly made it feel that way. At last, Richie allowed himself to fall asleep.

He felt it wouldn't be a very peaceful one though.

Richie must've passed out, because the last thing he remembered was him being brought onto a boat. He remembered the pungent smell of blood and sea water as he was freed from his watery prison. His arms felt numb, so he could barely feel the person shaking him fiercely. It wasn't anyone he recognized. With the help of the kind woman, Richie exited the car and began looking around. He was in front of... an inn? He could barely read the pink sign above the building with his blurry vision. He felt groggy, like he was actually there. He heard an older gentleman instruct those who were injured to head to the clinic, and for the others to enter the inn. Quickly searching himself, Richie found no serious traumas other than the fact he felt he could collapse any minute. His wobbly legs, which also felt pretty numb, had a hard time keeping his body standing. However, he deemed himself secure enough to
make it through the night without medical attention.

He leaned on the woman, who was dressed like a nurse, and she led him inside the inn. From what he gathered, the clinic sent a few nurses out to help with the disoriented and/or incapacitated. However, not many people were here in the first place so there was an abundance of nurses. Another came and held up the other side of Richie as the trio reached the front desk of the inn.

"What do ya need?" asked the receptionist dully. She did /not/ seem like he was very happy, or even wanted him here.

Richie sighed and groaned slightly, replying, "Hi... uh, my name's Richie and I'd like a room please. There was a ferry accident and there are those here who need rooms too."

The receptionist nodded. "Yeah okay, right this way." She grabbed a key as one of the nurses let go of Richie and began writing on a piece of paper on the desk.

"Wait," the boy commanded. "Can you just take me to the lobby? I'd like to just sit down for a little before I sleep."

He heard her groan obnoxiously. "/Of coooooourse dear./" She sounded sarcastic, like she didn't care. Whatever, he did not need her attitude right now.

"Thank you." He replied with a tone of sass. The nurses led Richie to one of the chairs and sat him down. The receptionist tossed the room key on his lap. Ignoring the rude receptionist's demeanor, he allowed himself to relax in the sweet smelling chair. After the day he had, he definitely needed to unwind.

"R-Richie...? Where are the others? Why aren't they back? What's going to happen to us?"

Richie had no answers to any of Elisa's questions. It couldn't have been more than a few hours since the large group left. There were only nine people who stayed at the station, last time Richie counted. Though, with a lot of peopld in the group, it /is/ odd that not even one returned with an update or some information or something. He noticed his companion brgin to softly cry. He alleviated her worries with, "I'm sure they just got caught up in exploring. They'll be back soon, don't worry." He smiled warily, and hugged her. She was shivering.

He thought about his attire. He barely had anything on, and yet he wasn't as cold as Elisa appeared to be. Sure, he was chilly, but not to the point of quivering. If he had a jacket or something, he would offer it to her. But alas, all he had was a towel and some slippers.

Their warming hug would have to do for now.

a year or so ago i was obsessed with greek mythology, hehe. i mean, i still enjoy it but like i'm not as bad.

literally i would stay up all night just to read wikipedia and learn everything the gods.

i'd even create little tests for myself, like multiple choice and open-ended questions and junk.

oh oh, and i specifically remember creating one of those match-up things ( like where you need to draw a line from one column to the other ) and i'd put like what each god is most known for and who their parents were and who their lovers were and it was all just... actually kind of crazy haha!

i enjoyed myself, nonetheless, but i'm glad i'm sort of done with that phase in my life lol

The interactions between those of Bentley and Candlewood did not go smoothly. Obviously. They were essentially stranded in an unfamiliar place, at least to most of them. Though he and his mother had never actually been here, they'd gone to similar quiet towns to escape the cramped and bustling city of Candlewood. Red Bank, one of the sections the city, was particularly crowded because it had a superb downtown area. The noise of the night was the worst though. His family lived in an average neighborhood, filled with friendly and generous people who would always have barbecues and throw pool parties in the summer, but it was located right next to the downtown. It was a blessing and a curse; Richie could easily access the area in a matter of mere minutes, but the nightlife was simply unbearable. His family contemplated, on several occasions, on whether moving was best, but the prime location by the alluring downtown area was quite rare they always decided against it.
Suffice to say, places like this were almost he and his mother's escape.

The large mass of people seemed to have their minds set on two options: stay or go. Several voices rose through the soft murmurs, and he specifically recognized Elisa's, Sophie's, Bryan's, and Quentin's. They all decided to stay by the train station, which was a tempting choice. Between publicly embarrassing himself and the whole inn incident, Richie was pretty exhausted. Then, he looked to the group of people who huddled together for the expedition through the darkness. Tucker was in that group...

Even thinking in-depth about which to choose exhausted his already depleting mental energy. He sighed and made his way over to Elisa. He felt he was making the right choice. Going out on a potentially dangerous endeavor would be too much for the tired boy. Besides, it'd be better to let the big, tough grownup men do it instead, right? As he headed towards Elisa, he called out, "I'll be staying here at the train station." It wasn't like anyone cared though.

Once Richie reached his pale blue-haired friend, he greeted her with a cheery, "Hey, how are you?" It was forced, mostly, but expressing what he truly felt (exhausted and slightly irritable) would surely drive the happy-go-lucky girl away. His stomach growled menacingly shortly after his greeting.

    Oh great.

"Sophie. Nice to meet you, Richie." The girl's voice didn't sound very sincere. In fact, it didn't sound like anything really. Her voice sounded so monotone. It's chilling honesty made Richie shiver uncomfortably. Perhaps she was bored too?

Sophie continued. "Quentin, what do you think of Richie's lollipops?" The boy gulped as he hesitantly looked up to Quentin. Their eyes met, causing him to divert this gaze once again. Quentin replied. Oh no.

"That depends. What part of him were you referring to?"

    Fuck.

The duo continued to go back and forth, until finally Sophie whispered into Richie's ear. "Between you and me, Quentin is really one of the most lewd homosexuals I've ever come across. Makes guys wanton." Richie coughed and soon caught his breath. How did she know? Was he really that obvious about it?

Quentin seemed like the wanted to know on her secret message, but then recoiled and spoke directly to Richie. "So you want to seduce me?" Obviously, he hadn't heard what Sophie said. The green-eyed boy's cheeks felt like they were literally on fire. All this talk was so... hot, but it made him feel extremely uncomfortable. He'd just met these people, and they were already speaking so freely. But something didn't sit right in the pit of his stomach. The giggles, the sly smirks, the over playfulness. All of this seemed like... it was a game to them. Like Richie was their pawn, and they could manipulate him however they willed. The very thought made him furious, but he decided to keep this cool and mellow down. He would allow himself to be played for the remainder of their interaction because, like he previously thought, this was one hot conversation. Plus, acting like a dick now wouldn't do anything except make the situation worse.

Sophie bent down and whispered into Richie's ear for the second time. "Don't give into him, he likes the chase. Play hard to get?" He chuckled under his breath. How would he go about this...? Would he go for the timid appeal? Or the more casual approach, with a sexual undertone? Hm, it was quite a tough choice for the boy to make. He grinned devilishly.

"N-no...!" He shuffled the hands that were on his lap in the most abashed of manners. His quivering lips, blushing cheeks, and his uneven speak would surely play the innocent role just right. "I-I don't want to s-seduce a-anyone!" Richie's flustered appearance was genuine indeed, but he was overplaying it to the maximum. In a last attempt to toy with the mischievous pair, the brown-haired boy uncrossed his legs and revealed his stiff penguin under the towel.

    "O-oops..."

"No, I'm just bored." Quentin seemed like he was staring through Richie, almost like he was studying him. Did he interest him...? He continued, "You, on the other hand, seem untroubled despite our fortunes and state of dress. What has you in such high spirits?"

The boy smiled at one of his crushes. "Um... I don't really know, if I'm honest." He laughed slightly. "I mean, I know most people would be depressed or something after all that's happened but, like... I just find that so pointless. Pitying yourself for situations that you had no control of." Richie shrugged. He suddenly got really serious, and he hoped Quentin didn't mind. He didn't seemed like the type of person who would mind, since he seemed pretty serious himself.

"You know, I'm sure how well you'll be able to seduce Quentin here with your lollipops."

Richie smirked as the unfamiliar voice rang through his ears. She took a seat right next to him... she looked familiar. Sophi...a? The boy felt his cheeks burn a bright red. The thought of those two bring together made his... "downunder" excited. He tightened his crossed legs so (hopefully) no one would notice. Now he could barely even make out any words. His throat felt dry and tense, and his stomach fluttered.

Richie only managed to ask, "W-what's your n-name?"

    "Yours?"

The blonde-haired boy smiled at Quentin as he replied, his voice wavering, "Richie, nice to meet you." He watched as Quentin's eyes scanned his bare body. His smirk made Richie blush slightly, causing him to turn his head slightly to the side. Hopefully Quentin wouldn't spot his rosy cheeks.

Why did he always get so nervous talking to his crushes? It was natural, sure, but it happened too often. Okay... talking with Quentin for the first time is a perfectly acceptable reason. But what about with Bryan? The two had talked on and off throughout their time together at the camp and the ferry (which the thought of made Richie shiver slightly), but every time he'd always been nervous. It was just... weird. That feeling when your heart drops into the pit of your stomach... the feeling he felt when he was around Bryan and Tucker. And now... he began to feel the same feeling around Quentin. Richie looked back up at him, not caring if he noticed his blushing face.

The two fell silent. He needed something to talk about, before their interaction faded. He then noticed the expression on the blue-eyed man's face; it was one of sadness. The poor thing looked like it was sulking over something. "H-hey... um, you don't seem very... happy. Is something the matter...?" He wanted their first talk to be something meaningful, something that both of them would remember... what was he thinking? He couldn't make a move on Quentin, not for a while... maybe not even ever.
