I'm not going to remember this, I really won't. I'll see all the computers and cable clocks adjust and I'll assume everything is fine but I'll forget that my damn alarm clock needs to be manually set and my alarm will go off on Monday at 5am instead of 6am. I'll wake up the brothers and get ready to go to school and we'll all be leaving when my mother shouts: "COLLEEN IT'S ONLY 6AM, NOT 7AM."

I know this because this is some sort of mental tradition my brain likes to pull every year without letting me know in advance.

and I hate it so much

    Memory 1a

Starlite Paradise, a world where outside of buildings, the only source of light is the stars and the moon. The huts outdoors look old, almost as if from some sort of medieval village in the country. But the outdoor appearance is not something to judge it from. Inside, everything seems pretty technologically advanced. Sure, there were things they did not have, but for a small world that is cut off from the universe, it does just fine.

The village is set on low ground, around the village are the plateaus no one really uses. Beyond the plateaus is more flatland, and then mountains surrounding the leftover area. No one who ever went to the mountains returned, and considering how high and unstable they were, people just assumed those who left had met their end.

The affairs of this world are different than most. They learn, they work, they do what they please. The world's calendar is based on the lunar cycle, and the moon travels around the sky in a circle indicating a day, the more to the eastern plateau it is, the closer to the Report moon it is. Curfew moon is to the western plateau. Report moon is where the day starts, and Curfew is where it ends.

The village responds and gathers when a flare is signaled. The color signals the event. Red is the gathering flare for events and important announcements. Orange is the missing child flare, which usually the missing child responds to. The blue flare is the emergency flare, when something is going horribly wrong. And the white flare is the purity flare, which is the flare that shoots off during marriages and adulthood ceremonies.

Families do not exist. Parents exist, but are not labeled as 'mother or father'. After a child is born they are moved from the family. There is a foster system, where all the kids go and are observed to see what their talents and hobbies are. They are then moved when they turn ten to a different home where they are put into a job category that suits their wants and needs. There are apprenticeships for ages before ten, which are commonly used. Parents are still acknowledged as parents, and kids often know who they are, and thank them on important occasions for giving them life, but other than that they are usually distant.

Marriages still exist, with the soul purpose of fulfilling the feelings of love. Whoever they deem their soul mate, it is generally accepted. The two tend to be in the same job, but are not always.

The village itself does not have a name, since they do not need to tell anyone where they are from. They worry about their own affairs, and it is very rare and generally frowned upon for people to "pretend" there are other places out there. Nothing truly happens to them other than them being excluded and outcasted. There are no "murders" or "penalties". On extremely rare occasions, banishment occurs. This has only happened 4 times in the village's history

In this world, people wear bright colors in order to be seen easier since it is so dark. Especially children, who tend to be dressed in bright whites, yellows, reds, and greens. Adults can wear duller colors, and all adults are given a special mechanism that allows for light to shine briefly in the area in order for them to see things better. Blacks, navy blues, and browns are extremely frowned upon because they are intentionally worn to not be seen. There is no reason someone should not be seen in this world.

The park in the south part of the village was filled with children, running around and letting off energy. They were playing games like tag, ring around the rosy, and there was one game of hide and seek going on.

A boy was covering his eyes and counting to a hundred as best as they could, then they began looking for the other kids. There were a total of nine he had to find, and soon he was down to two. He looked up in the trees and found one of them, but one of them was left unfound.

"Okaaay, the game is ooover. You do not need to hide as good as you aaaare." they looked around laughing and no one could find them. After a moment one of the kids said, "Ugh is it Lemon hiding again? We'll never find her!"
"Lemoooon we are done with this round! Please come out..."

A little yellow girl poked her head out from behind a tree and spoke, "I'm right here."

The kids jumped and one let out a scream before the boy who was seeking said, "Hey! Did you move around? You aren't supposed to do that!"
"There are no rules about that! I was hiding the right way. You just didn't see me move!"
    "Lemon's a cheater!"
    "No I'm not!"
    "Cheater cheater cheater!"
"You're just upset because you lost!"
    "Cheaaaate- AH!"

The boy was pushed to the ground and the girl shook him shouting, "I'M NOT A CHEATER!"
"HELP HELP, LEMON IS HURTING ME!"
"I'M NOT HURTING YOU! THIS IS HOW YOU HURT SOMEONE!"

The girl held her fist up to punch him before someone grabbed it and spoke, "Lemon."

Lemon let out a nervous laugh as she turned around and smiled at the adult, "H-hello Ms Ryu~"
    "Were you fighting again?"
"N-no... he just... He called me a cheater and I didn't cheat!"

The woman let out a sigh and then smiled and replied, "I'm going to take Lemon and talk to her, you all keep on playing."
    "But-"
    "Sh."

Ryu took Lemon's hand and pulled her to the side so they were sitting alone. Lemon fiddled with her hands nervously, afraid of what she would be scolded about this time, and Ryu spoke, "You know, I was like you when I was younger. I could hide really well, and I did not really get along with the other kids. But after a while I learned to not let that get me angry, and I took my anger and frustrations out on something else."
    "A pillow?"
    "Nope... here..."

Ryu opened up their bag and pulled out a carved out owl out of wood. Lemon's eyes widened in amazement as she grabbed it from Ryu and examined it, "You made this?"
    "Yes."
    "How?"
"Whittling." the woman looked through her bag again and pulled out a half-finished carving and a knife. She quickly gave Lemon a little lesson, then got a piece of fresh wood out of her bag, and handed Lemon the knife, "You try it out."
"You trust me with a knife?"
"I taught you how to use it properly, I trust you'll use it properly. Please don't break that trust or I won't let you whittle."

Lemon smiled and began to try and whittle. By the end of the time at the park, Lemon had made half of a dog, or at least she said it was a dog. She figured it may take her more practice, but she was happy about this new skill and was excited to see how much better it go over time.

It was only after Cailyn had replied that she realized she probably made it sound like they were not doing anything to help out. They were, and she would never say they were not. When she was asking for help, it was because she was being swarmed by the guards and could not get up off the ground. Well, Kaida was still on the ground, and she still needed help. She just decided to tell herself to calm down, "It is okay, they are both busy and cannot help you out at this moment. You put yourself in this situation, you can get yourself out."

Kaida let out an attack growl and threw her keyblade up in a perfectly vertical direction. This allowed her to hit two of the guards who fell back. When they keyblade flew back down it stuck in the ground right next to her head. She stared for a moment in shock but then quickly jumped up, grabbing the keyblade, and swung it out of the ground and at another guard. She tried to roll out of the way and hit one more guard as she left the circle.

All of them were still around and not knocked out, which made Kaida feel like she was losing steam, but she did a quick count of what was left and felt relieved. Only fifteen more, it's almost done, then we can all finish off Pete. Kaida ran at the guards with another yell and hit the ones she already did damage to, knocking four of them out. The guards tried to attack her again and she backed off and ran over at Pete and hit him again. He let out a yell and ran off behind the guards... again. He seemed nervous about the lack of guards around him, which clearly meant he was running out of human... weasel? Weasel shields. Kaida took a deep breath tallying up what was left and congratulated herself silently knowing she could still perform basic math and she ran over to Cailyn and Roe. There was a guard near them that was still standing, but looked weak, so she swung at him and knocked him out in order to get him out of the way.

Kaida breathed in again and blocked the attacks from the guards as she spoke, "Alright, from what I can see, there's only ten more of these guys left. We should focus on taking them all out, and then we can all go after Pete and teach him a lesson together. Sound good to you two?" Kaida waited for a response from them, healing herself due to the damage she took when she was surrounded by the guards. She then planned an attack strategy for her next move.

    exp: 460 words = 23 EXP

    guards: 10/30 left

When people walk past you on the street on in the hallway and they look at you like they're confused of weirded out even though they have no idea who the hell you are. I don't know, sometimes I keep thinking about that one guy for the rest of the day like, "Yo did I do something abnormal for your usual day to day stroll why are you giving me that look?"

Oh also dunkin donuts double cups.

Alright, so today as soon as I got out of my ACTs I started marathoning season 3 and 4 and I just finished up. I've been notepading my thoughts on everything all day and running back and forth to scream stuff at my dad (who was happy at first but soon became irritated by my spoilers so I had to go spoiler free at one point and it was rather difficult since I usually watch episodes of TLA and LOK with him. But here we go (I'm keeping each season in a spoiler tag)

So when I started watching this I actually managed to not know anything about this season except that Zuko was back and that Opal is a character. Other than that I was in the dark about most of it. My initial reaction was this: I loved the whole rebirth of the air nomads ark, but I was not really feeling the Red Lotus thing at first (which at the time I didn't even know was the red lotus I just thought it was some sort of criminal breakout thing). But as I got further into the season I was really digging the Red Lotus ark, and I'm one of those sick people that likes to see the main protagonist suffer, and I was dying to know what they were going to do with Korra. Everything about season 3 was excellent. I loved the new characters, I liked seeing more settings than one or two places. There was one thing though that I kept thinking they were going to do but they didn't do. When they introduced the whole new airbenders thing, and how people did not seem to want to learn the ways of the nomad, I thought it was going to bring about a completely new airbender. Well... it did, but not really how I was expecting it to go. I still like the idea of protectors of the world... but I don't know. I think before the Earth Queen was killed I was expecting some sort of Airbender vs Earthbender war, and I was excited for it. But I think the Red Lotus thing worked a lot better. I love me some good ol' anarchy lessons every now and again. Also we had a character named Otaku, and that's double points from me.

I like the villians of this one, strangely... I actually was hoping half the time the villians would win. Up to the last two episodes I actually liked Zaheer. He brought up a lot of thought provoking discussion and if he wasn't... well... the bad guy... I would have expected him to have been a very wise mentor. I thought this throughout the season, unlike season 2 with Unalaq. I mean, I did think the same thing at first with Unalaq but it was easier for me to look at him as a bad guy. I don't know why it was so hard with Zaheer. I almost can't forgive myself for that. Also... I can't figure out how lava bending is not a form of firebending. You know, I don't mind the idea of pidgin bending. Be like "well now that the spirits are free to roam, the airbenders have spiked up... guess what? I can bend TWO elements now. Yeah, I combine fire and earth. Iunno man...

Bolin and Mako's family is and will always be adorable and I hope that does not change. Although I secretely still want an ark where they find the person who killed their family and bring them to justice. If there's some novel about it I'm NOT READING IT. I did not appreciate having to do that to find out what happened to Zuko's mom...

Oh also, specific section for the finale, I was getting a lot of TLA flashbacks with the settings and the fight at the end. I felt it was just as satisfying to watch. Heck even the ending with Korra getting all dressed up in 'avatar attire' for Jenora's ceremony (which oh man I was never so happy for a character to get tattoos in my life) reminded me of Aang being dressed up for Zuko's coronation. I don't think I would have survived the end of season 3 without the beginning of season 4 right after and I have no idea how you guys did it. Poor Korra... oh well at least she's-- oh no season 4 is cutting me o-

-ff... hmph... anyway so thank GOD Korra is already doing better by ep 4, loving Toph being back. Also, we're covering dictatorships now... woo... I mean we covered it with TLA and we covered communism and anarchy might as well cover dictatorships again. Anyway, so at one point during season three, when they introduced Kuvira randomly, I kind of sat there confused and said to myself okay so we're randomly learning this character's name, this can mean one of two things. She's either our deus ex machina for season 3 or she's gonna do something big in season 4. It's great to see I was right for once, which I'm usually not.

Opal here, cool, I'm not a screaming Opal fan but I don't hate her either. She's alright, she didn't do anything to really wow me other than be an airbending natural. I do love Kai though, and I'm sorry for not going into depth about that in season 3 but hey, I do what I want, and if people are actually reading this they are probably reading both of these spoiler tags anyway.

The three year time skip threw me off at first. I got really scared because I heard "after all these years" and Asami definitely looked older and I was like, "Oh god how long has it been is anyone married has it been 5 years, what if it's 10, who is this prince guy UGH." and fortunately it was only three. We've got our Katara, Toph, and Aang cameos, all we need is Zuko, Sokka, and Suki and we're good [i s2g if I forgot someone that ISN'T momo or oppa I'm gonna cry].

I was a little upset this freakout Korra is having is because of leftover poison. I was hoping it was going to be a sort of ptsd thing, or something happening to her mind. I was hoping for a really long repairing process. I know people don't usually like sitting through that but I DO. It'll be great to see how they handle the dictatorship but honestly, the only thing that was really getting me hooked on this season was Korra's healing process, and ep 4 was right where that ended. I'll watch it and hope for something to hook me in but maybe it's because I really loved season 3 that season 4 just feels okay to me.

Thank you for taking the time to read if you read. I might be a regular on this thread starting with the next episode. Thank you for your time~
