I'm sorry but I cannot wrap my head around this. What does this have anything to do with music? I'm sorry but this just outright bothers me. Do you mean like, people who are tone deaf are discriminated against? I don't understand.

This seems to imply the creation of a character who has a disability with the soul purpose of being discriminated against because what... they are blind? but they can learn to play the piano and not be looked down upon r- oh no because they're blind.

I'm all for the idea but this one detail (Which just spawned a pseudo rant oh my gosh I'm so sorry) is a big no for me. Unless you were going with "tone deaf" being a disability and not actual disabilities that people are constantly discriminated against in the real world.

I don't know how I managed to miss this thread before D:

    Explosive Statements

It was too damn cold for the summer time. Or at least everything felt cold. Cold in a way I was not used to for a beach town like this. Especially on Independence day. Heh, it was rather ironic how little independence existed anymore. Maybe that's why the cold set in.

There were very few on the beach at this time of day. 7:30pm. The sun was going down and there was no reason for large crowds anymore. Times have changed, people live in fear of anything that could cause harm. In other words, people were just afraid of living. After tragic incidents had occurred involving anything firework related they finally and truly reinforced anti-firework laws. Just the sight of one caused the person who blew it up to be cited and shipped off. I hadn't seen a firework in the better part of 20 years. When I was a child.

I was going to make this year different.

I think it was because I was just done with the world, and I wanted to leave an impression. An impression that would maybe spark something in someone out there. I wanted to feel as though I changed the world. But I was doing something so small that perhaps it would just disappear as soon as it started.

On my back, there was a bag filled with fireworks I got smuggled over the border. I planned to light off every single one and let the world shine in the colors it brought forth. I found a large spot on the beach no one had occupied. It was close to the water and far enough away from the houses where I knew it wouldn't catch fire.

I etched out a warning circle that would keep as many people away from the blast zone as possible. I knew how to ground fireworks properly but if anything went wrong I wanted to make sure the only one going down was me. I started to gain some sort of attention from bystanders but the only one who knew what was going on at the time was me.

When the sky was just dark enough to see the stars, but still light enough to see the beach without a flashlight. That was when I knew it was time. I pulled out a lighter and lit the firework.

As it went up with it's loud pop and beautiful stream. It shot a blue into the sky that made a couple people on the beach scream but made others stare in wonder. I went with the blue first, so people wouldn't confuse a red or a white with warning rockets or bombs. The blue welcomed people in a calm color, and was able to allow people to recognize them for what they were.

Someone though, in the distance, I heard make a call. Already I had someone who was needlessly afraid. And that meant I only had so much time left.

I lit a few more, so each would be choreographed in a symphony of whistles and cracks. I did this to light off as many as I could before the police showed up, and to give the people a show. I watched for a moment as people began to sit down and spectate. Their faces slowly starting to be lit only by the light of the fireworks since the sun was completely down at this point.

I pulled out my headlamp, and knew that while this was the only way I could see, this would also mark me as the one setting them off. I did not care.

A red firework shot up into the sky next. Followed by an ooo and an aaa. The grumbling of worried mothers and the sound of fascinated children running onto the beach from their houses.

A green firework followed and a couple of drunk people about my age tried to come up and ask if they could help out. I turned them away but I gave them a couple of sparklers in my bag to shut them up.

A purple one exploded and someone decided to turn on some music on one of their music devices. People danced to the familiar tunes and it made the event all the more enjoyable and calming for me.

An orange one whistled and whined repeatedly and sizzled out. Someone ran over and I was about to turn them away but they brought over a bag with more fireworks. I told them they didn't need to take the blame for it, that I would fire them off. But they shared the same emotions as me. The sickened feeling over all the fear, the sadness they felt from being held back from something they deemed so beautiful. They said they needed that brave push to fire these off. They had them for years. They were ready to go with me.

A couple of yellow flickering fireworks came and the worried mothers were soon laughing alongside their kids. Many people were fascinated, but there were many still afraid. I was not interested in those people. The ones who were willing to go along with the scene were the ones I cared about.

It was when the blue fireworks came back that I heard the sirens coming for me. I lit off the rest and the person who brought over their own did the same. We stayed put and waited for our fate. We had smiles on our faces, the one I wore was the first I felt in years. I felt alive.

The police took us away without resistance from anyone in the crowd. No one wanted to confront them, but they still stayed for the show. I heard a couple thank yous as we were pulled away. But that wasn't what truly made my eyes filled with tears.

A little boy, maybe five years old, I heard him shout,
"Hey daddy, look at those lights... what are they called?"
"...Fireworks. They don't happen often, but they sure are beautiful aren't they."
"Can we make them stay? They make me feel happy."

I was fully away from the beach, and was shoved in the car. But I still heard the last words somehow.

    "Me too."

Rose was not happy that she was in charge of the first half of the remedial classes today. Mainly because for whatever reason she couldn't stay awake. It must have just been one of those days. When she entered the room, so far there were only three kids in the room and she was certain there were a few more expected. Which she really didn't want to have to go searching for them.

One of the kids in the room she knew was just struggling to keep up with classes so she couldn't make any generalizations about all of them being trouble-making oafs who could be making better use of their time if they just paid attention in class in the first place. She would certainly have liked to, it made the teaching entertaining because the kids paid more attention when she was more blunt and just trying to cover the basics rather than cover the whole material. Which she would have to do because of the kid who was genuinely struggling.

It was great. Except it wasn't.

Rose stood up at the board and took attendance quickly before she looked up, "Good morning." She listened to the grumble of good mornings from the class and she put on a fake smile, "If we distract ourselves with our learning I'm sure the day will go by a whole lot faster."

Hwan had not slept, and was not in the mood to sleep yet. The man was cutting off his own circulation. Again. He wasn't doing anything "life threatening" yet, so he didn't feel the need to wake up his roommate for such an activity.

Although man, did it sure hurt. But what was he expecting? Happiness and feelings that made him feel... high? Hell he almost preferred knowing that with all of his experiments he wasn't a masochist yet.

He as charting down observations as he watched his hand slowly turn into a bluish color. He was humming softly to himself until he knew he had gone a bit too long. He tried to regain his circulation by raising his arm over his head. He wanted it to go back naturally, without having to use any of his healing abilities.

The korean boy let out an annoyed sigh as he mumbled,
    "Good job."

This really does come down to personal preference, I am personally more of the person who plays it by order of release rather than chronologically. It may be because I grew up finding myself watching in the main plot then prequel order.

With a game series like Kingdom Hearts it's really complicated, I don't personally see the difference between starting with Kingdom Hearts I or starting with Birth by Sleep. But I do see the difference between playing Chain of Memories and Kingdom Hearts II first. I don't know if any of you fell into this category but I didn't know Chain of Memories existed for so long since it was on the gameboy and I was really confused how Sora ended up in a coma for a year. In a case like that I would push more for playing Chain of Memories and 358/2 Days before playing Kingdom Hearts II. I would obviously encourage people to play Kingdom Hearts I before Kingdom Hearts II but Birth By Sleep is one of those games that I don't really feel like the experience is ruined by playing it before or after Kingdom Hearts I and II.

Meh, maybe KHI, CoM, 358/2 Days, KHII, (Coded or BBS), DDD

so basically KH HD Remix order.

(On the road response this will probably not be as detailed)

There's the very basic posting, but would depend on why Donald is calling for help. I'll just go with the basic Donald yelling for help because he's in pain.

Donald continued whacking the shadow heartless with his staff before he found himself attacked by three shadows at once, causing him to cry out in pain a couple of times before shouting, "Heeeeeeelp!"

Now, I wouldn't make that an entire post. If there was more to what was going on, add it. Interact with other players during the fight. Acknowledge was Sora or Goofy was doing during the fight if the two were controlled by another role player. It may seem like filler, but it's doing one of two things, painting the overall picture from your characters' perspective, and it lets your fellow role players understand that you do know what is going on elsewhere in the fight. However make sure you don't god mod (I'm just going to assume for now you know what this means)

also, if you really want to expand, add an internal Donald monologue so we can see what is going on in his head.

Not every post for a fight scene will be long, it gets tiring to write 200+ words a post for every fight action and people will understand that. This would come down to how you structure your fights. I am specifically talking about writing the posts out.

If you want, to keep things interesting, you could give out an incentive to people who go and help their party members. Which would guarantee at least one person would go and help out Donald. Like, make an overall goal for the fight (ie destroy 50 shadows!) and add in smaller objectives (go back and help out your teammate!)

She was not entirely sure how to take Stratos' words of encouragement because they almost sounded like the sarcasm Aux would have used in conversation. Though, at this point, what other choice did they have? Then she realized this was an impossible endeavor because there is magic that is long lasting. For all she knew they could be there for years doing this fight. She was pretty sure in the back of her mind this fight had indeed carried over into another year somehow, maybe the passage of time between when the fight started and when this would eventually end.

Kaida walked over to Glen who was face down in the water unconscious and she was about to go over and help before she realized she was witnessing attempted murder. She tried to get over there as fast as she could but she kept getting hit and pushed around by the brooms. When she got to Glen and Karina she shouted, "Could we drown each other at a more convenient time? I mean, Glen's pretty annoying and I don't know your past history and anythings better than setting partners on fire for the fun of it bu-" right in the middle of Kaida's speech another bucket hit the back of her head and Kaida's quickly turned around and grabbed the broom, held it up in the air, and slammed it down against her knee, snapping the broom, and the pain was not felt for the time because she was clearly absolutely out of her mind.

"You know what FINE, lets drown Glen then, lets all just drown Glen! Maybe if we drown Glen it'll stop the brooms from multiplying. Maybe blood sacrifices is ALL we have left." Kaida threw the two halves of the broom and watched it reform before she ran off from the Karina and Glen show and continuously broke brooms until she had gotten rid of seven. Or made seven more. Either way, it only resulted in Kaida getting angrier and angrier at the brooms. She looked over at Stratos (who was most likely still on the ground but she really didn't care) and shouted, "IT'S OKAY, SOON THEY WILL STOP. SOON THEY WILL ALL JUST BE, WHATEVER NUMBER THEY ARE." she started laughing insanely before kicking at a broom, "WHAT IS THIS JOB. WHAT IS THIS LIFE. ALL I'M DOING IS FIGHTING AND FIGHTING AND USUALLY THEY JUST GO AWAY... AHAHA... BUT NOOOO THIS TIME THEY DECIDED TO JUST KEEP GOING. AND GOING. IS THIS SOME SORT OF A CRUEL TWIST OF FATE? IS THIS KARMA FROM ALL THOSE YEARS OF BEING A TROUBLE MAKER?" Kaida got silent before she stared at one of the brooms and mumbled, "Probably."

It was pretty safe to say Kaida at this point was showing her uselessness way more than she should have, but she wasn't entirely sure if she was as useless as she felt. For seeming to do anything in this situation looked like a hopeless cause. Kaida had initially tried what some of them had done, pull the buckets away from the brooms to get them to stop their monotonous deeds, which did not end in them stopping, but seemed to almost intimidate the brooms more. Although she didn't know if they could actually be intimidated. After a point people had seemed to go to aggressive action while she was still attempting a diplomatic solution.

By diplomatic solution she clearly meant mindlessly yelling about things not going her way until she had some sort of backer. Which she did not actually need other people to back her up with this. Her patience was quickly disappearing until she gave up on it.

Everyone at this point had attacked these water carrying, room flooding brooms. And every time she was certain they got one, two replaced it. At first she thought it was a temporary occurrence caused by whatever magic this mouse was doing, but it clearly was not temporary. Maybe there was something they had not tried yet that would work? Maybe using thunder?

What kind of idea is that?! Using thunder on water? What are you trying to get everyone electrocuted?!

Maybe fire then? Someone probably did try fire, but she had not tried fire yet. And that was clearly what mattered right? Kaida summoned out her keyblade and fired at one of the brooms which... resulted in what everyone elses' problem was. But for whatever reason she tried it again, on both brooms, which did resulted in the exact same thing. So within 30 seconds she managed to turn one broom into four brooms. She raised the keyblade ready to go for it a third time before she stopped herself.

Well, great job, you have officially hit insanity. Doing the same thing over and over again expecting different results. You would end up making things worse if you kept going. Maybe something... oh I dunno... different?

Kaida was not exactly sure if she had anything different to try that would help, so instead she found herself mindlessly hitting the ones she just created with fire. This was under the logic they would eventually run out of the energy to multiply, so she just kept going after the same one. She struck at it at first with not too much force but more towards the lower part of the broom. When it broke, the broom reformed and another was created. She tried this method mindlessly again, this time going a little higher on the broom and with a lot more force. The results, of course, were exactly the same. Kaida let out a quiet growl as she hacked at the reformed broom again. Then again. And by that point instead of reducing the number of these enchanted, workaholic brooms by seven, she had managed to increase the count by the number she meant to be rid of.

The blonde just stared mindlessly at the results before screaming,
"AW COME ON. GIVE ME A BREAK HERE AND... BREAK!" and kicking at the one broom she had targeted specifically. Although she was unsure if the broom actually did this on purpose, it quickly turned around and the buckets of water in its hands smacked Kaida in the face causing her to let out a squeak from pain and she kicked the broom again.

    Already she missed the weasels.

Hero of Time's point is very important one because what is coming across right now to me is not a roleplay, it is a KH-Vids.net plays Kingdom Hearts type of thing.

One of the important things about developing a roleplay is that you want to present a plot that people can expand on in their own creative way. What I am getting from you right now is that you want to basically have people roleplay out the events of Kingdom Hearts. It is a nice idea, but the problem is it comes across as limited and claustrophobic. Kingdom Hearts is its own story, it happened and everything is already taken from the game. You cannot alter what happened in the game... but you could do something along these lines:

    1. Kingdom Hearts through a different perspective

Basically, you tell everyone you want to make it as close to the original game as possible, but you have another part open to expand on creatively. Say, you're roleplaying Kingdom Hearts through the perspective of the heartless. Present the idea as if you are a specific type of heartless and you are attacking the heroes we know and love. Or allow for original characters and have a roleplay based on a world falling to darkness, where you play a character on a doom fated world.

    2. A new Kingdom Hearts game.
This one is a more common one, but if you want to be able to play Sora, Donald, and Goofy: offer up a new experience. Offer and say that you are making Kingdom Hearts 3, and let your creative ideas fly around on how you feel the game will go. You are able to take these characters, but throw in a fresh take on them. You aren't stuck with a prewritten script, but the roleplayer can decide what they feel a character would say.

    3. Kingdom Hearts with a doomed fate
Basically, make it so the roleplay will follow similar events to the original game, but have the take on it go so the heroes lose and the villains win. People like cruel twists in fate and trust me, there are a lot of people out there that like to torture their favorite characters for some reason. It can be a similar structure to the base game, but it allows people to make different takes on events that already exist in the game. Like... what if Goofy really did die in Hollow Bastion during KHII, how would the rest of the game played out without him?

These are just basic ideas to flow from that allow for people to throw their creative juices in there, not a lot of people like to perfectly reenact an entire story (I tried it once myself, I wrote out an entire episode of Spongebob Squarepants with a friend once. It was neither fun nor funny)

Also, when you wrote out your wall of text, was that just a basic idea and layout? There is very little description added to each action. You don't get a lot scene wise by just saying "he hit Pete with a keyblade" or "Sora used Fire". For a battle system to flow and not get too boring, you would need to be able to allow more than one action to take place per post. I mean... I've been in roleplays in the past that did it (#bringin09back) but after a while it got tiring.

If there's any questions or misunderstandings please let me know. This is my input.

Hey, you know what, I didn't mean for it to go down this road.
Well I'm pretty sure they mean rp rules, because roleplays have their own individual rules.

we could have a ruleless rp but then someone usually gets pissed off.

    God dammit...

Jin was sitting in the corner of his cell. Or whatever he felt like calling it that day. At first he thought of it like a jail cell but after a while he found out it was way worse than any jail cell he had the pleasure of being in. Hell he'd take the prison cell over this joint any day. At least there he didn't cheat death every ten or so minutes.

It isn't ten, don't be overdramatic. It's more like... like... what was I thinking of last...
Dammit, this is when I need my Adderall.

The man held his canteen of... shit. Or whatever they were trying to get him to drink. It sure as hell didn't taste like any alcohol he'd had. And he'd had some pretty disgusting mixes in his day. He'd do anything just to have some normal water, since he was barely drinking this stuff. He wasn't stupid and knew it was keeping him alive, but he wasn't about to be slowly poisoned by whatever these freaks were trying to get into his system.

Or maybe he was. He was still dripping drops of it into his mouth whenever he could stomach it.

The red-haired man placed his fingers again in a pinch into the canteen, he let it drip a couple of times until the drips became slow. He tilted his head back and opened his mouth and let the drop fall onto his tongue. He let out a quick cough before letting a couple more drops drip in. He gave up after five drops and closed the canteen. On day one of this liquid he would have rubbed his tongue with his sleeve or something to get the taste out. He at least knew that wouldn't work anymore.

Jin saw something shift in the corner and quickly turned. It was just his shadow. But he was understandably paranoid when it came to that corner. That particular corner was where the door was and his fights would come in.

    I miss my guitar.

And he truly did, every now and again he would unconsciously fiddle his fingers in a strumming pattern. If he wasn't getting kicked out by an ex that labeled him a freeloader, or drinking his thoughts away, he was usually playing his guitar on some corner somewhere. Where was he last... Providence, Rhode Island? Hell if he knew, he just remembered getting enough to try and leave town but missed his bus. He'd fallen asleep in an alley with his guitar by his side, but woke up to being attacked and dragged out of there.

No one noticed, no one cared.

And now he was in some sort of unexplained death row. Not dead, but he sure didn't feel like he was living.

Jin opened the canteen, and repeated the dripping process once more.
