Actually, I like that he's at least attempting to break the walls of partisanship. The party system is tearing this country apart at the seams. Democrats calling Republicans right-wing facists, Republicans calling Democrats communists, it's all just awful. Sure, he's probably only doing it to make himself look better in the eyes of history, but at least he's trying. It's one of the few things I actually like about Obama.

Like the citizenship application process, which, believe it or not, quite a lot of people still use. The African boat example you used was different because those people weren't trying to sneak into the country. Hell, I'm sure if we told them they had to go back to Africa, the would have gone back. Point is, illegal immigration is a shameless and selfish way to start a life in America, and it is something that should be strongly opposed. This is one of the reasons why I liked McCain, but since Obama seems to be adopting anti-illegal immigrant ideals, I'm starting to gain a bit more respect for him.
