So, 16 hours got stretched to nearly 22 hours of travel x.x There was a pretty bad storm near JFK so all flights were grounded for about three hours. Oh god I'm tired, and oh god my back ;.;
I'm late as usual 8D
You've just doomed us all, you *******.
I'm ridiculously accident prone. In less than a month I've sprained my ankle and wrist, broken my toe, had an assortment of cuts, bruises and bumps on the head, plus now my back. Sure, I hope you don't mind that it's sitting in a glass cabinet at Gamestop ^^'
Basically, sitting while leaning on something, and lying flat on my back is really painful at the moment. Tomorrow I have about 16 hours of traveling to look forward to. ;_; FFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFUUUUUUUU- (This is also my way of saying that I'll be posting even less than usual during the next few days. Bye for a while!)
I'm so sorry that I'm late with this again >.< But, here are the five suggestions I got that you shall be voting on. More detailed discussion will begin either on Saturday the 10th, or whenever everyone has voted. Make sure you give some reasons for why you voted for whatever you voted for. 1) Post apcalyptic setting, after human civlisation has been wiped out by a terrible disaster, the story follows a group of diverse characters who need to work together find a new refuge after being kicked out of their settlement for alleged crimes that they didn't commit. They will need to survive against the harsh elements of nature, outlaw bandits that roam the wastes and a mysterious gunslinger that slowly hunts them down. 2) What about something using gods? You can use like egyptian or greek but what if the god had many forms and went by different names but they were still the same gods. Anyway, long ago they were forced to go into hiding in order to survive. They made themselves mortal and unaware of who they really were, when they died they were just reborn as someone else. Although they made precautions that if they were ever needed, their powers would reawaken and they would discover who they were again. But until then all that showed they were a god was a mark somewhere on their body with the symbol of that god. Now, it's modern day and dark forces are rising. They had been going around with normal lives unaware they were gods, as they are needed their powers reawaken. It is up to them to quickly discover who they really are and save the world before it is too late. 3) So the story starts out in an area that sort of looks like the previews of Final Fantasy Versus XIII. Steam-Punkish, maybe? The main characters parents are killed before his/her eyes, and seeks to avenge the death of his/her parents. Kinda like any movie you seen before, but this story has a twist. I thought it out till the end, and it's really psychological on the main character's part. He/She embarks on a path around his entire world, making new friends, enemies, and gaining advice from wise people. The twist is that along the way, the main character starts remembering fragments of what happened on the day his parents were killed. When he/she has all the fragments put together in one piece, he/she realizes that he/she was the one who killed his/her parents. 4) The story begins with two rival gangs/families waging a war for control over a city. The people not involved in the war tend to stay out of the way until they are forced to fight. A group of people not involved in the war and with no desire to be part of it decide to try to leave, which has always been seen as impossible. While leaving somehow, they all get tangled up in the war and still working together, try to stop it and bring peace. 5) You could have a pirate ship, or just a ship where it's crew have to survive, a little boat on a big ocean/or a small space ship in a large universe. The premise being they either have to somehow get home or someone could inherit a ship and against all the odds find a mismatched crew and survive on the sea. You could have them going up against pirates, sea monsters or aliens (for the space ship).
Tuesday again? Rise and shine, Sammy! Everyone just forget the fact that it's 1am in my time-zone
Just got back from seeing Captain America. It was pretty impressive, and definitely entertaining. Wish I could've seen the 2D version instead though, since this cost me 14€
I voted for Bushy. I'll edit the reasons here tomorrow, I need sleep now x.x
PaW, it's fine if the ideas are somewhat similar, as long as I get them xDx And to be completely honest, I don't feel up to posting them quite yet, as a few of them need a bit of tweaking to be better understood... Sorry, pain-meds are making me kinda pissy atm >.< axel-chan, Thanks, I appreciate that =D P, Hmm, I think we could discuss genre and setting in the open, I'll open up a discussion for that asap. I kinda wanna see what plot ideas we get without being influenced by others, so I'd still rather keep the plot discussion off the table.
I'm no on anti-depressants myself, but both my parents and one of my sisters are/have been. It takes about two or three weeks for your body to adjust to the drugs, so it's very likely you'll feel worse before getting better (you might feel more depressed, and unfortunately especially teens seem to have more suicidal thoughts in the first couple of weeks). If after a month you don't see any change in your mood, or you feel worse and the side-effects are still bothering you, your doctor should prescribe you an alternative anti-depressant. It sometimes takes a while to find the right drug for you specifically. I'm fairly sure most professionals would advise against this, but what I found to work best for me is to wait until I'm so tired I can't keep my eyes open before I actually try to go to sleep. I'll read a book, watch tv, surf the web (but not really interact with anyone after a certain time), and so on (the reading the book part is probably the most sensible thing out of those). If it's been an especially tiring day I crash pretty quickly, and fall asleep at about midnight. However, there is a very good chance if I get caught up in something that I'll stay up until 4-5am, even pull an all-nighter. This does happen to me once or twice every month, but personally I'm much more willing to endure a few sleepless nights every now and again in stead of tossing and turning in bed for hours without any sleep. But my brain seems to need a lot of stimulation, and doesn't like quiet moments, so this could just be my thing =p There's also the usual things, if you like caffeinated drinks, switch to decaf at around 5-6pm, air your room out about an hour before going to sleep if possible, make sure it isn't too hot or cold there, maybe have an herbal beverage (chamomile tea works best for me). When I still did yoga, I seemed to sleep better on the nights my class was in the evening, so try some relaxing stretches or even full out yoga an hour or two before going to bed, if possible.
I've been busy getting the paperwork done for the move, and packing... Plus I sprained my wrist so it's been kinda painful to write.
I actually like Aqua's voice, but Terra's hasn't grown on me at all. Pity, since the VA's a pretty decent actor on-screen (from the little I've seen, at least).
I had the same haircut than Bieber when I was 11-12...
Rule of improv: Pay attention; assess the situation. The most obvious thing to assess was right in front of Brad, as huge gates were being opened to let the humongous beast with dark scales and sharp spikes covering it's back and even sharper teeth curled into a vicious smile leap right towards him. There were other, more subtle things to assess too, like the way the guards seemed to grip him tighter when they had walked past the thick wooden doors that lead to a tower that simply screamed 'HERE BE DAMSEL IN DISTRESS'. Not that Heather could be considered a damsel in distress, since spazzy ADHD-like behavior aside, the girl was as tough as you could get. In fact, Brad was fairly sure that if he'd manage to get past the guards at the small gate keeping him in this soon to be fiery pit of doom, he'd only need to round a corner before being greeted by an excited squeal, a bear-hug and the phrase, "Ohmigawd, I was getting kinda bored waiting here! Knocked out guards are seriously dull company!" Still, Brad would be damned if he didn't at least try to save his best friend Greg's girlfriend, especially since said girlfriend was like a sister to him, and said best friend was lying on a dirty cot in a make-shift hospital tent with a fractured femur, ribcage and humerus (the results of an ill-fated attempt to beat some sense into the muscular guards keeping them from Heather). Yes, assessing the situation was a very important thing to do. Too bad for Brad that his assessment became too focused on the small details, because he found himself assessing the scales of the dragon's tail quite intimately. Before he knew it, he'd been knocked several dozen feet away from that dingy sword that they'd given him, and he was facing a very pissed off dragon completely and utterly weaponless. Rule of improv: Go with your gut. Brad faintly remembered reading that dragons had sensitive ears. Brad also remember that the book had been a fantasy novel, but he had absolutely nothing else going for him at the moment. So he decided to do what he did best: wing it. He drew air into his lungs deeply, and in a split second decided on the melody and first few lines, and he started to sing from the bottom of his rapidly beating heart : Please come and listen to my tale of woe, before I'm turned into a pile of dough All I want to do is help my friend, without meeting a very ashy end A wave of confusion swept through him as he finished the first verse. What the hell was I thinking?! I'm going to die in falsetto! Brad suddenly heard his Theater Master's voice, as clear as it had been during his first class in the auditorium years ago: Improv rule: Don't second guess yourself, so the audience won't do it either. He felt his nerves melt away, and started to assess the situation. All the people watching him were utterly confused. Not a bad thing, as he could use the confusion to sneak off as soon as possible. The dragon however had parked itself right by the gate he needed to get through, but at least it wasn't advancing anymore. It seemed to be shaking it's head back and forth, huffing in what Brad could've sworn was annoyance, as if it were trying to get a ringing noise out of it's ears. With new found vigor, he continued the song. I'm facing this dragon oh so vicious, now what exactly will rhyme with vicious? Maybe, kinda I could use salacious? Now someone tell me the meaning of salacious! Brad almost gleefully noted that quick pitch changes seemed to cause the dragon most grief, and he started to fully utilize his range of a countertenor. The beast began to stamp it's feet, and that was soon followed by pained writhing. The more he sang, the more distant his actual situation became, and he could practically feel Greg behind him, doing his best to harmonize and keep up with the nonsensical lyrics, he could practically see Heather in the dimly lighted audience, snorting into her illegally acquired drink. How will I make this mighty dragon fall? I'd like if I needn't put any effort in it at all! Oh how will I succeed in this nasty sin? I honestly can't let this beastly thing win! At the third line he'd let his voice drop into a low rumble, only to belt out final note so high, he would have made most sopranos jealous. He was only mildly surprised when the dragon let out a pitiful keening moan, and had collapsed to the unstable ground, revealing a now broken gate with shocked guards cowering behind the wreckage. Fully reveling in the rush success had brought him, Brad rushed to his pathetic excuse of a sword, grabbed it, turned to his audience and delivered them his taunt: "Give me liberty, or give me a bran muffin!" With that, he rushed out of the pit, through the gates and into the dark corridors. Only then did the magnitude of what he had done reach his brain. Unfortunately, what also reached his brain was unbridled panic.
Sorry for being unresponsive during the last few days, but at first I was busy with family things, and that business lead to me spraining my (dominant) arm. So writing has turned into a slow, somewhat painful process for me now ;_; This has lead to a bit of a plan change. My original idea was to get the plotting done during this week, so that I'd have enough time writing the opening chapter before the 7th of September (when I'm moving), but due to the injury and overall busyness, I'm not gonna be able to do that. I'm giving an extra week for you guys to send me plot ideas (so far I've only gotten 3 iirc, and I'd prefer having more), so PM them to me until Sunday. We'll vote on the plot ideas, and work through the possible problems the following week, so that I can begin writing hopefully on the week starting on the 12th. I'm really sorry about this, I was hoping for a swifter beginning, but c'est la vie, I suppose.
Thanks! Are we allowed to use any powers in this challenge, or are all the characters 'normal'?
*snerk* That's great! Please PM them to me once you've got something ^.^''
