Why are some parents, especially mothers, so protective of their kids when it comes to visual and audio things? Obviously, if your kid is, say, about age 10 and goes out with some friends, you get worried because of things like sexual predating, kidnapping, etc., which is understandable. By visual and audio, I mean things like TV. Like I don't get the whole, "OMG! My kid can't hear the F word on the TV," "OMG! My kid happened to come across porn, so I need to punish him," etc. Some parents, and, again, especially mothers, are even like this during our early teenage years. I don't get the whole point of it, honestly. Just using my two examples above, as we age and go through puberty (though puberty doesn't necessarily play a role), we'll start seeing more of that stuff and even swear ourselves, so why keep us in a box, figuratively speaking, as we grow up? I mean, little kids hear worse swearing all the time when riding school buses because of students from middle and high school that ride, and then when they say a not-so-bad swear word or a swear word they heard on the bus at home or something, they get punished -- some parents will even make them eat soap. I just don't get it...
Happy birthday, Misty! May your day be filled with a lot of joy and fun!
So my PSP AV cable came in the mail today, and I did a test recording as seen below: The quality's okay, I guess, but not as good as my recordings from my PlayStation 2 (notice how you can't see the small text like my health points too well), and I'm not the only one: How do people get good quality recordings of PSP games, such as in these videos?
The light at the next intersection turned green and then the light we were waiting at turned green, so I get going and get up to the speed limit of 25 MPH. This old lady coming out of an alley just pulls out without looking and then she's still completely oblivious because when I lay on the horn and come skidding loudly to a stop (note that the roads are wet), she doesn't even turn to see what's going on. Pretty much something like at 3:24 here, and I think my horn was just about as long as his:
Basically what the title says. No more than 420 characters can be typed in initial profile comments. However, there appears to be no character limit when commenting on the initial comment. As an example, take a look at Llave's profile, where my comment to my initial comment has a total of 786 characters. It seems kind of weird how comment characters are unlimited, but initial comment characters aren't. If this is more of a bug, feel free to move it to Site Assistance, staff.
Okay, this is something that's kind of stumping me. Are things like Halloween, Mother's Day, Father's Day and other similar days considered holidays? I know for a fact days like Thanksgiving, Christmas and other similar days are holidays, but if the former holidays I just mentioned (Halloween, Mother's Day, Father's Day) fall on a school / work week (for those that don't work on weekends), we still have to go to school or work, whereas with the latter holidays I mentioned (Thanksgiving, Christmas), we don't have to go to school or work. Doing some researching, it seems that days like Halloween are technically holidays, they just aren't religious or something and we therefore don't get days off for them. However, my mom says that days like Halloween aren't holidays. Discuss.
These are options that I can choose to export my recordings from Roxio as, but what do they stand for / mean and which option produces better quality?

Happy Veterans Day! Let's all honor our veterans!
Figured I'd start a discussion based on Plums' post here. What exactly is body positivity?
My fingernails on my right hand grow at a faster rate than on my left hand. About every week or two, my right hand is at nail-trimming level (though I don't actually trim them every week or two, so they obviously grow more), whereas my left hand can go about a month or two before reaching that.
Mish said this video was fine to post as long as I wrapped it in spoiler tags. Spoiler: Kind of NSFW Did you guys out there ever go through the "wedgie phase" when you were young (like, say, age 10) or do you guys still do wedgies every now and then with your guy friends?

Went to the Palace Cafe for a birthday dinner last night with my mom and aunt and a had French Dip and a Bud Light beer, which made me completely out of it. I don't like being drunk. Well, I told my mom beforehand I had to get back before 8:00 PM for my dad, because he was bringing by money, and for the new episode of The Legend of Korra, and guess what happens? We don't get back until 8:15 PM. My mom and aunt were done eating at around 7:30 PM, but my aunt wanted to wait a bit for her wine to wear off -- my beer had worn off by that time and left me tired. Even with that, we could have left at 7:50 PM, but they just kept talking. It was about 8:00 PM now, so I just got fed up and went to the bathroom to throw away the chocolate milkshake dessert I couldn't drink anymore because I was full; my mom got the hint. However, I was mad at her for a while. My night sucked because: I missed a great part of the new The Legend of Korra episode. I fell asleep prematurely due to the alcohol. Because I fell asleep prematurely, I was unable to record my walkthrough of PSU and update my YouTube. Because I fell asleep prematurely, I was unable to update my Word of the Day and Quote of the Day projects on here.
Having to make my own birthday thread. How sad is that? :x
