I was the President of my chapter for a year and a half and my Secretary/Treasurer is an anime addict, hacker, and LARPer. Our third pledge brother is finishing an internship with Disney. Granted, we're the nerdiest Line ("pledge class") in the history of our fraternity, but still.
Im really sorry! I'm on a business trip for another week and a half and my time here has been really stressful. Im working all day with only an hour or so to myself. It's not enough time toget everything done that I would like. I definitely did not expect this trip to be this Hectic. My one day off is tomorrow so I'll definitely be posting. And hopefully, things will get settled a bit and I'll have more time.
Stop bullshitting. No, you weren't.
I tried something similar for a Game Thread in the Playground, a turn-based statistic game based on Dissidia where KHV members were the characters, just with a Final Fantasy Class. The only thing actual participants had to do, however, was decide on their next move and PM it to me and I'll type out a battle using their chosen attack, stats, and remaining stats (HP, defense, etc.). When it comes to an actual RP, I've seen these come and go and the trend never really stuck on because of the amount of thinking it took from the RPers. It takes a little away from the flow of enjoying the character and actually imagining that character as opposed to, say, a trading card game where you're constantly aware that you're playing a game and keeping up with stats. That said, it also puts more strain on the RP-Maker because s/he has to keep up with everyone's stats and stuff to make sure it's going smoothly and adjusting the story constantly depending on the outcome of one, sometimes minor, altercation. I mean, RPs tend to be much more...imaginative and creative-oriented where throwing statistics into it would just -and I do not mean this in a bad way- restrain some people from participating or enjoying it. Don't get me wrong, I would not mind at all participating in one, but I always have reservations about it. I need to plan out my posts a bit more, something I may not have time to do, before taking the time to actually making the post. I also don't want to have to expect my RPers to put that amount of dedication into the RP because, from my point of view, RPing should be a creative and immersing experience where it's more character based, but definitely much more story-based. I don't think I could put the patience into making a legit Role-Play based on that mechanic, probably copilot one, though, to share the responsibility and take off some strain to better immerse myself into the experience. Otherwise, I would stick to a gaming thread. I know not everyone's like me and that's fine, to each their own, but this is personally what I, as a Role-Player/hopeful author/RP-Maker see that's wrong with that mechanic. The strange part is that I am much more mentally inclined towards logic than imagination (I took a test once and I was over 75% logic over creativity; I can't remember which half of the brain is which at the moment). That said, there are also different variations of stats, how important they are to the role-play itself, and rare cases where it doesn't have to be turn-based.[DOUBLEPOST=1401519775][/DOUBLEPOST]I'd like to add that it also adds a sense of realism into the RP that I personally am not looking for. I mean, yeah, you shouldn't powerplay or godmod, but it's a bit restricting because everything is set-in-stone once an action is decided. You can't really add a personal touch to some factors. In your example, maybe one character is simply better at taking an electrical shock than another, even if it's something simple as a higher pain tolerance; that may afford him/her in a normal battle an extra chance to turn things around. Or maybe there's a slight boost in speed due to seeing an opportunity, but you can't do it because your speed stat allows the other person to go first. There are also certain things that I think you can't give a number to and the boost/buff it would normally give a character fails to translate; Let's say Ron Parker (completely original name I came up) spends his adventure trying to rescue his kidnapped sister, but finds out the bad guy killed her. In a climactic scene, he's about to be struck down by the bad guy when his sister shows up, safe and sound, having been saved by...whatever. I would like to think that would give Ron a huge morale boost that in most fictional storylines would give him a power boost to turn the entire battle around. How do you give a number to that boost, what stat does it affect, when does the boost take place (before or after the bad guy's RPer posts the final blow?), and is that fair to other RPers who didn't get a boost, even if maybe they knew his sister?
I AM SO UP FOR THIS. A KHV DUB. LET'S DO THIS. WE ALREADY DO IT WITH KINGDOM HEARTS SCENES. WE'LL CALL IT...KH-D. I keep forgetting that Jiku is a girl. Can you transcribe exactly what happened in this scene with the background info? It's fine if you can't. I don't watch Kill la Kill and have only picked up bits and pieces from what's been posted on here. I can't watch a video because I'm in a hotel room with someone and he's working mornings and I'm working nights so there's never a chance to listen to videos and I don't have any headphones. I'm just really interested in what exactly you mean by this. Same here. If I look away from the scene, I tend to miss stuff, but I can't be bothered to give the anime my full attention. It's why I prefer mangas for most because I can power through it at my own pace without worrying about rewinding and throw the flow off. I have the opposite problem. I read really fast and whenever I watch something subtitled, I get the information I need before the character's done speaking. That and the flow of the language. I try to read the subtitles at the same pace that the character is speaking (with some fluctuation for translation so an "OVER 9000"a moment is avoided), but I tend to misjudge it horribly and either finish too early or not quick enough and it really throws off my intake and the flow of the show. I prefer English for most things over Spanish (my native language) or Japanese (what animes are actually in for the most part) because I'm more comfortable with it and the emotion conveys better. In Japanese, things seem to be overly emotional (which I hear is intentional on their part, usually) and that's fine; it works better that way. However, other times, it...doesn't seem too click right; some lines have too much emotion (CALM DOWN, ANIME GUY. IT'S NOT THAT BIG OF A DEAL). In some cases, like @Plums said, it depends on what I hear first. s-CRY-ed is my favorite anime and I prefer the Japanese over the English dub because I watch it first and I think the emotion is supposed to be that strong (except hearing Kairi's voice annoys me for that character). Other times, it depends on who the voice actor is. I love Johnny Yong Bosch and Steven Blum to death and although I can always tell it's them, the different characters they voice always feel unique. But Vic Mag-whateverthe****hislastnameis, I can only hear as FullMetal and I can't enjoy the anime in my head because the character doesn't fit Edward to me. There are certain times, though (s-CRY-ed being one of the prime examples) where I prefer the Japanese version over the English version because one voice actor doesn't sit well with me and the voice ruins the scene even though I love everyone else (I think that's because getting so used to one person -in this case Kairi from Digimon- sounding like someone, that I can't enjoy that voice on any other face), just like with FullMetal's VA.
I'm officially halfway done! About to start Part 2 in just a moment, actually. I started reading it during a ten hour drive and the driver was laughing because I kept gasping. I couldn't believe how serious and action-packed it got so quick. I liked it, it just...intense. And seeing Emma and Julian is really cool; I'm already enjoying their characters and can't wait for their series. There are several nods to The Infernal Devices and it's just amazing. I think I'll end up rereading all of the Shadowhunter books once I finish this, in addition to get the Magnus e-books, but doing it all in chronological order (So the epilogue of Clockwork Princess after Heavenly Fire). There are also parts of this that, if the movie series continues and improves, makes me wonder if they plan on referencing The Infernal Devices plotlines as much as Heavenly Fire does or if it'll get cut (most likely), or end up making The Infernal Devices into movies as well. I will say this about the book (it's in a spoiler, but it's not much of an actual event spoiler, just something I've noticed in all of the books) Spoiler HOW DOES ANYONE TRUST THE FAERIES SO EASILY? THEY'LL ASK THE QUEEN OR MELIORN A QUESTION AND GET A SIMPLE ANSWER THAT YOU CAN DEFINITELY TELL IS ABOUT TO BE TWISTED, LIKE THEY ALWAYS DO. Although, I'm betting that it'll reveal later that it was a ruse to actually trick the Queen.
[insert post calling out the passive aggression here]
I'm on a business trip and the damn book is keeping me up atnight late! I'm enjoying it though
Yeah! I'm on chapter 9, I think
You're going after the wrong girls.
I prefer Linkin Park and Rise Against's current music to their earlier works. That and I love Ke$ha. I just adore listening to her songs and jamming along and singing along. If you ever see me driving and I'm singing with my windows rolled up, I'm probably trying to hide the fact that I'm singing Ke$ha.
I'm having the exact same issue with "P." Something fell underneath and cracked one of the tiny ass prongs on the actual key and then I chipped the other one off trying to get it to stay regardless. In the end, I just took the key off my old laptop (though I noticed it'd be upside down) but the damn prongs are like the tiniest fraction of a millimeter too close.
But the sex is great
That reminds me. When I was a senior, I snapped a muscle in my neck. Apparently, it's supposed to be curved and C-shaped and I had snapped it into a straight line. I couldn't move my head at all without intense pain. it literally brought me to tears each time. In addition to muscle relaxers and some pain meds (which actually got me a little high at school. Apparently, my body really doesn't like pills), the doctor suggested that we microwave a wet towel and place it on my neck. I think that's what relaxed the muscle more than anything. It was heavenly. I think I did it once a day for a good two weeks after my neck was back to normal. Still do it every once in a while, it's so relaxing.
And by "stuff," he means Schrodinger's cock?
Calem was left speechless at everything Serena said. Calem had chosen Chespin and Shauna Froakie, not the other way around. Not to mention Xerneas wasn't used by Team Flare, Yveltal was. This definitely wasn't his Serena. Before he could speak up, they were greeted by two other Pokemon Trainers, from Hoenn and Johto, and one of their Pokemon, Suicune, who Calem instantly recognized as a Legendary Pokemon. Calem nodded with a smile and Sylveon squealed a welcome. "Return, Sylveon," Calem asked before returning Sylveon to her Pokeball. Something wasn't quite right and he decided to keep his Pokemon close until he got a better understanding of what was going on. "It's nice to meet yo-wait," he stopped, raising a hand to scratch his head, "Johto? Hoenn? And you haven't been to Kalos?" He stopped, confused. He hadn't been to either of those regions (He had visited Unova before and he knew he had visited Kanto once, as a small child, but he didn't remember it well) and they hadn't been to Kalos..."Let me guess, you two were in Johto and Hoenn before you ended up here?" Reaching into his jacket, Lysandre gripped Gyrados' Pokeball before changing his mind. 'No, I'll save my ace in the hole for now,' he brushed that Pokeball and grabbed another one. "This one, I won't lose," the leader of Team Flare affirmed. "Show them your strength," he reared back the Pokeball, "Pyroar!" He threw it, releasing a flash of white light. A dark-colored lion with a blazing mane of scarlet and gold appeared, roaring loudly to announce its arrival. The Pokemon locked its blue eyes onto its two targets. "Pyroar, Dark Pulse!" Lysandre commanded, stepping out into the open. If Pyroar's malevolent thoughts could make either of the targets flinch, then the battle would start with a bigger advantage to himself and Silver. Xigbar's jaw would have dropped, but instead it turned into a smile. He summoned his Arrowguns and rested one on his shoulder. "The kitten, huh? That shouldn't be possible, right? He and Sora became one again...then again, who's to say how all this works," he waved his other Arrowgun to encompass the horizon. Immediately, Xigbar's mind started to wander with possibilities. If Roxas was here, was there a chance of turning him into one of the vessels before he rejoined with Sora again? And if Roxas was here, could Sora be? No, they would have known. Besides, they were here and the other Xehanorts weren't, nor was Saix. "Well, it looks like this is going to be one fun ride." As The Key of Destiny paused to catch his breath, another creature crept up near him. This one resembled a metal kangaroo, with a giant hammer for a head and crystal texture along most of its body. Realizing that Roxas didn't notice it, the Hammerhead jumped, rearing its head back to smash. "Watch it!" A red blur shot through the crystal, smashing it into pieces. As soon as it landed, the blur turned into an intensely-quick rotating ball that landed on the pile of crystal shards, scattering them. "What, are you dense or something?!" The blur stood up, revealing itself to be a red, anthropomorphic echidna with spiked knuckles that stood a little over half of Roxas' height. "Now is not the time to take a nap, spiky hair! We gotta get out of here!" The echidna ordered. Jeez, this kid looked like he could barely put a fight. Knuckles grunted; he was not ready to play babysitter.
I agree with Quentin Beck. Not sure if this is something doable (it sounds like it would be, but I don't know crap about coding or forum software). It really does look better and it looks like avatars that don't fill the limit are automatically centered.
Honestly, I'm going to just go around and force people to take my pamphlets. When they open it and realize it's completely blank, I'm just going to say "exactly" and leave.
I talked with Captain Fabulous, since he has Crystal and Silver, and we're going to do something similar for Gen II. Crystal and Gold remember...
So for Nintendo, for the Pokemon Trainers, we're going to go with a parallel reality thing. Calem and Serena both experienced a version of Pokemon...
