Well, Cloud had a minor part in Kingdom Hearts 1. His major part came in Kingdom Hearts 2, after his home world was most likely restored. I'm just assuming that after BBS, Zack is at his home world when it falls into Darkness, but returns at the end of KH1. He's not in KHII because he might have been protecting his world? And he'll probably be in KHIII.
