I'm just glad In don't have a 1.5 hour travel to school anymore, forcing me to get up at 5:30... Now I only have to get up at 7 three times a week 8D
This is really great, its among my favorites with Don't Stop Believin' and Simple and Clean. It sounds like a very evenly talented choir that's showcasing everyone's strengths. Amazing job editing, Jayn this can't have been easy. I'm in a similar place, I'm finally starting to accept that I have a decent lower register too. I've always focused on developing my falsetto and belting, and my inability to go low really made it hard to sing most pop songs. I know you can't hear it in the video, but I was pleasantly surprised that I was able to hit some of the lower notes in this song, and I think some of my best lines were sung fairly low. Okay, part of it was because I was extremely tired when I sang this and didn't have time to warm up my higher register, but still. I'm glad to have found some confidence in my voice, and I'm glad to see it developing. And I've got KHV Chorus to thank.
Ohai me! ... Why do I distract myself so?
WARNING: This article deals in detail about bullying and suicide. It's an extremely upsetting read, but I think it's important to read it: http://www.rollingstone.com/politics/news/one-towns-war-on-gay-teens-20120202 I'm crying out of rage right now. The trivialization, the 'excuses' for the absolutely vile treatment of the kids are disgusting, and I wish I was surprised by this kind of behavior. Staff, if this is in the wrong section, or if this is inappropriate, or if this should be merged with something else, my apologies. I just felt that this should be out there.
If you want to be literal about it, Finnish, since it's my mothers first language. But I began speaking English almost the same time, and at the moment I use it a lot more frequently (and for some reason I always felt more comfortable writing and performing in English. Possibly because I speak Finnish with a heavy dialect/slang, and writing slang is extremely awkward to both writer, reader). I know a teensy bit of Swedish and French. Not enough to hold a conversation, but enough to introduce myself, order something or asking for directions, and my reading comprehension is surprisingly good. But when it comes to understanding, especially French, I'm horrendous. I'd kinda want to learn Spanish, cause it would be very useful to know some of it since I'm living in the suburbs of Chicago now, and Serbo Croatian because of my heritage. Oh, and LARIA, in case you didn't already know this Finnish is extremely different from other Nordic languages. It's actually closer to Hungarian (and superficially Estonian). I hate to betray my country, but Swedish probably would be the most 'useful' Nordic language to learn, since it's fairly close to Norwegian and Danish, and it's fairly widely spoken in Finland too. But if your just wanting to learn for fun, and you're up to a challenge, go with Finnish.
It depends on a teacher. I got a 10 (or a A) by just showing up and showing some enthusiasm (and having your equipment) from one teacher. Then there was another who outright said that to get a A in her class, you practically had to be Finnish Championship level in track and fields at the very least, and above average talent in everything else (soccer, basketball, baseball, swimming, etc.) And while I like to try my hardest, I just am not a very athletic person, so I ended up getting a 7 (C I think?) in her class. I didn't either... And then I started taking Swedish >.< Too many languages mixing me up...
I wish this were an option, but I have to give sources for every freaking paragraph I write ;.; Mixt: Yeah, it's for a paper. Eh, at least the IMDB one has a name attached to it >.<
We didn't really work with percentages, and our scales were from 4-10 (logic? what is that?). And in high school the majority of tests would only have 12 points total from two long-ass essays, so you'd divide your points with the 12. So for a ten you'd need 12 points Nine= 11 points Eight= 9.5 points Seven= 8.5 points Six= 7.25 points Five= 6 points And anything below that would be a fail. In languages you needed over 50% to pass, the rest of the grades were adjusted by overall class performance. The system for maths I never figured out, but that's because I really sucked at it >.<
Wikipedia, or Imdb (where Wikipedia ripped it's writing from anyway)? *should pick less obscure topics from now on*
She posted a thread about her roommate situation yesterday .-.
Oh God xDx I seriously posted that into the Kingdom Hearts Discussion section originally >.<
Finlandia. It was originally a symphony(iirc) by Jean Sibelius, and a part of the melody was adapted into a choral version at some point.
(Tiny bit of background information, this was done by supporters of one of the Finnish presidential candidates, although he himself had nothing to do with this.)
Hmm, Valentines day is on Tuesday, I might actually make it!
Don't you hate it when they insist on joining Dx<
Nah, I've been my own friend for probably over a year now 8D Even before my prem-dom
Eurgh God, I tried, but I'm too tired to get any enthusiasm out (and too tired to remember how to spell 'enthusiasism', apparently xP) But here are my lines: http://www.mediafire.com/?s9ei30m92i49r82 And if you need to fill out the chorus, I (sorta) did the whole song: http://www.mediafire.com/?caltcrwfg9w6332
Remember kids, stalking is love. Also: EVEN AS I WANDER I'M KEEPING YOU IN SIGHT YOU'RE A CANDLE IN THE WINDOW OF A COLD DARK WINTERS NIGHT
I'll get my lines in tomorrow, Monday latest. Can I have these extra ones? I'll probably sing the whole song anyway xDx { ♥ } We'll be together, [As long as everyone is glad,] I don't know what to do... { ♥ }Sometimes, even when you try to escape, [What?]
Areas that regularly get colder than your area have better heating systems. More expensive ones probably, but then again we probably need less air conditioning during the summer months. Although the heating in my basement sucks, it's set to 85 (just to get the temperature up a bit more), while staying at a 'comfortable' 66. #sleepingonthecouchtonight
