While Hitler didn't bring the Nazi party to power on his own, he was responsible for the party's revival in 1925 (and was "its undisputed Leader"), and he surrounded himself with people who were experts in propaganda, etc. And Hitler became the Chancellor of Germany because his party received most votes in the parliamentary election. And less than a month after that, due to the Reichstag fire he was able to convince the President into giving him emergency powers. Not necessarily. They might've never gone to war if it weren't for Hitler. He pretty much united Germany, got the Nazi party into power, created his dictator ship... If it weren't for him, I believe it would've been much more likely that the Weimar Republic would've descended into a civil war due to the economy and unhappiness with the Versailles Treaty. Now, if someone with exactly Hitler's ideology, but who wasn't insane and had good military strategies, then yes, we'd all be f*cked. But I can't think of a figure like that at the moment (if there was someone like that, I'll give this one to you).
Except Germany probably wouldn't have gone to war without Hitler, at least not in the same way they did with him .-.
