...Do we know you?
I've gotten permission to wear my domino mask at work. They do know that I wear a superhero shirt underneath my polo almost every day, though. I particularly wear Superman on Sunday underneath a button up so if the production line needs my help, I can Clark Kent my way down there and save the day.
Before Christmas, I mentioned I was an Atheist and it seemed to blow his mind. After Christmas, I was talking about something that my girlfriend gave me and the conversation went like this: "But you're Atheist." "...Yeah?" "You don't believe in Christmas." "Of course I do. It just happened." "How can you believe in Christmas if you're Atheist?" "...Because it JUST happened. I'm not denying that Christmas was a few days ago." "But you don't believe in the reason for it?" "I celebrate American Christmas. With Santa Claus and presents. Not the Christian Christmas, but I think you're mixing up 'believing in' with 'observing.'" "Do you believe in Santa Claus?" "...No (almost asked if he did)." "So how do you believe in Christmas." "I don't think you know what 'believe' means." And then two days ago, a coworker got a second job and was wondering what he should wear to orientation since he didn't have his uniform yet. The same manager mentioned that he would wear what he wears to church. Me: "You know he's Pagan, right? What he wears to church is more like a rubber apron and a medical mask than a suit." Manager: "You're a Pagan?" Coworker: "Yeah." Manager: "What does that mean?" Coworker: "Depends on who the Pagan is. With me, it's many gods. My fiance believes more in spirits and natural forces." Manager: "Which gods?" Coworker: "Uh...let's say almost any god that isn't the Christian god just to keep it simple. (think he was actually trying to push the manager's buttons at this point)." Manager: "So...the same thing as Boy Wonder." Me: "No, I'm Atheist, not Pagan." Manager: "What's the difference?" Me: "I don't believe in his gods either." tl;dr: It is now my personal mission to educate my manager.
Like we have other plans.
So I had an idea that I wanted to run through KHV's Role-Players: It'd kind of be a process of loose collaboration, but it may be a bit difficult to do. Thinking of how movies are made, in a very simplified example, you have: 1. Producers 2. Screenwriters 3. Directors I don't have the idea entirely fleshed out yet, but wanted to get the words out before I lost the thought. Working as a group (or several groups), the three jobs get assigned: Producers come up with an idea for a Role-Play they would like or several different ideas that they're interested in seeing (anything from a basic story to mechanics to a character); the screenwriters write out the story for it (this can be anything from what becomes the first post to the history/background of the world, rules/powers/abilities, plot twists, and maybe even a little bit of the future story developments; and the directors post and lead the Role-Play. There are issues I can already see such as: 1. Who gets credit for it? Whose RP is it really? 2. How much power does the director have over the other two? The three positions don't have to be mutually exclusive (one person, or group depending on size, can be producer and director, etc.) 3. How much commitment would you need from everybody? (If you help, you have to join?) 4. What if the director(s) completely changes something that the writer(s) disagree with? Should some kind of contract-like agreement be in place? Can s/he be usurped, even if s/he is leading the RP? Like I said, I don't have much of the idea itself yet, so maybe you guys can help. It could be risky, but it might be fun having an idea come together that way.
Conversation of the day at work Customer I didn't recognize: "You know, every time I'm in here -no matter what time of day- you're here. Do you...live in Panera?" "Well, I work full-time, usually average 45 hours. My availability is very flexible so my schedule changes week to week depending on where I'm needed most, but I'm still guaranteed my 40 hours. Since I'm training as a shift supervisor, my shifts are at least two hours longer than everyone else's...even on non-training days. So there's always a high chance of me being here whenever you come in." "...so you do live here."

Like, I hadn't even heard of this one before. No idea what it was until I read the review. Decided to go buy it, can't find a copy, looked online: "Release Date: February 4th"
#thanksobama
"Let me go buy it now!" It's not out for another month. wtf
"That's fascinating, but you're forgetting that-" and just walk away.
I'll totally take that RPA mod spot. GIVE IT TO ME
There's a racial pun somewhere in here.
Definitely feeling threatened here.
Y'all could always make me staff~ On a serious note, though: I'm glad to hear this. I've been wondering if it would get a dedicated Mod or just be left Modless. Both scenarios have occurred in my history here and I always preferred having a specific person or two to whom to go. Hopefully, it's someone on staff who frequents the section as it always seems more active when that's the case.
"Nate, what a big screen you have!" "The better to browse you with."
Ugh comics.
Tom Hardy has left the cast. Warner Bros. is allegedly been attempting to court Jake Gyllenhal into Hardy's role as Rick Flagg.
I haven't played in two or so months, but I have a couple of orange trees
