This is a fimfic. For those of you who don't know what that means learn the interwebz it's a fanfic based on MLP: Friendship is Magic. This one is based in an alternate universe. Events held within this fic are not to be misconstrued as canonical events from the show. While I may end up using some canonical events from the show, the majority of this content will not be canon.

This is the first book in a series I just started writing. For now I'm using actual characters from the show. I have an OC I plan to use in the second book though I'll probably use a few in this book.

WARNING: If you hate all things pony, now's your chance to turn around and leave. No turning back beyond this point.

Story rated PG-13 because of romantic implications.

    Chapter One: Marbles and Romance

He had been waiting in the hall for some time now. Trotting back and forth at a steady pace. His face riddled with worry. There were so many questions buzzing through his mind. Questions like, "Is she okay? What's taking so long? Why do I have to wait in the hall?"

He stopped to glance at the clock. He was debating on whether to be happy or shocked that an hour had passed without any word. To him it had felt more like an eternity. Just as he was about to hunt somepony down to give him some answers, one of the doctors trotted out of the emergency room. The doctor looked at him and hesitantly spoke, "I'm afraid I have some bad news."

His heart skipped several beats, "What is it?!" He was about to pin the doctor against the wall out of sheer panic alone.

The doctor waved a hoof, "Oh, don't worry; she's fine."

"Well, what's the bad news?" He was hesitant to relax his demeanor. He was still far from calm.

"I'm afraid she won't be covered on your insurance. You'll have to pay the entirety of the bill out of pocket."

He let out a sigh of relief, "That's all? I thought it was something serious! How much do I owe you?"

"The doctor held out a slip of paper. He took the paper and gave it a once over. The paper read, "Foreign object removal from nasal cavity: 2,000 bits." He immediately proceeded to place his flank on the floor, along with the rest of his body.

    ***

He was trotting down the road analyzing the bill over and over again, ignoring the cold night air as he made his way. Beside him was the young filly who had just cost him his entire bank account. She had been on the verge of tears for awhile now. Finally she decided to break the silence, "I-I'm sorry, mister Night Light. We were only just playing and ... I didn't mean to cause you any trouble. Whatever the bill was I'll pay you back. I'll get a job. I'll get two jobs! Just please don't be mad at me!" Tears began to stream down her cheeks.

Night Light stopped and sighed, "I'm not mad at you Bon Bon. Accidents happen." He wasn't going to mention how the odds of accidentally getting a marble stuck up your nose were astronomical.

"A-Are you sure you're not mad?" She was attempting to sniffle away the tears.

Night Light smiled as he patted her head, "Of course not. How could I be mad at one of my prized pupils?" At that Bon Bon perked up with a smile. "Come on," he said as he began trotting once more, "let's get you home."

Bon Bon, maintaining pace beside him, asked softly, "Um ... are you gonna tell my mom about this?"

He thought on it for a moment before replying, "No, I won't tell your mother about this."

    "Yay!-"

"If you have a three page report of why putting things up your nose is bad by Moonday morning.

"Aww." She contemplated all the fun she would be missing out on over the weekend but weighing that with the trouble she caused her instructor she felt it would be best to sacrifice one weekend. "Okay," she gave in. "Does it have to be in Emily format?

Night Light laughed at Bon Bon's obvious mispronunciation, "I think you mean M-L-A format."

"Yeah, that!" She seemed almost too excited for having just been assigned a three page report. He had a sneaking suspicion as to why.

"No, my little pony. Just make sure to spell check before you turn it in."

"I'll make Lyra proofread it for me!" He was right.

"Are you sure about that? She didn't fare to well on the lat report I assigned her." He gave her an inquisitive look.

"Well," Bon Bon hesitated, "she didn't want to look like a nerd in front of the class. She's actually really good when it comes to that stuff.

"She does know that I don't make you foals read the reports aloud, right?" He let out a half sigh of frustration.

Bon Bon scrunched up her muzzle, "She's got book smarts but she's lacking a bit in the common sense department."

"Maybe you could mention to her how much I'd appreciate it if she tried to do well in class. She shouldn't feel ashamed to be knowledgeable. Princess Celestia almost never falters whilst speaking. That takes a lot of talent but it also takes a lot of knowledge." He paused for a moment, "She also knows that you're all in an advanced class for gifted foals, right?"

"Booksmarts..." At that the two of them laughed as they continued trotting through the night.

No, no. I completely understand where you guys are coming from. Sure checking profiles is easy but it's an inconvenience for members to check constantly, especially when dealing with someone who changes their name a lot (i.e. me). It's not like I'm suggesting this for myself. I was merely trying to create a suitable solution for members who lose track of who is who. Also, what about members using smartphones? Would you still say that checking profiles was easy? Sure it's a click with a computer but it's a hassle to navigate to a profile page and then back to the forums on a mobile device.

This was just a suggestion to try and help the new members who can't yet pick out a user by the style of their post.

Not at all. Do you know how many people go through a public bathroom in a single day? If anything I'd say this is under-reacting. I'd prefer walking in with an aerosol can of disinfectant spray and sanitary wipes. That's too bothersome to carry around constantly though so I make do. Public bathrooms are one of the most disgusting places I can think of. You're basically walking into a shared toilet and your lucky if half of them flush. You wouldn't believe how many people I see leave a bathroom without washing their hands. It's vile.

This thread's about five pages too deep in derailing to be saved. It was lost the moment Cat and Enzy showed up.

Perhaps you should be more fervent on the matter. If you try hard enough you could circumvent these threads altogether.

How about adding a title to usernames that displays whatever's contained in a text entry field? It would take a little custom coding to get it to display properly, or not display if the field was empty. This way hovering over the username you could set a title (default name) to be displayed. It would appear as something similar to this:

It's just something for convenience that way users don't have to check profiles. If this is something you might consider I could figure out how to do this and send you the instructions, that way you don't have to waste time figuring it out. Though it should be a simple modification.

That's just a side effect of awesome. I recommend a strong dose of chillaxing and bedrest. The ringing will go away within 72 hours. Should it continue I recommend you see a Doctor ... it could be problematic.

I'm a hopeless romantic. I believe in true love, for some reason. I personally could never bring myself to end a relationship with someone I truly care about. I'd also never let things get that far gone. I don't understand how people can cheat on one another. I'm not interested in most women though and the one's I am interested in are part of such a small majority that I suppose it'd be highly unlikely I'd find two alike in the same general area. I still don't think I could cheat on someone even given the chance. I don't see a need. Meh, digressing and whatnot.

I've seen enough relationships in my life I understand what you're talking about. Not sure how I still believe in true love but ... meh.

Lol, I saw this whilst browsing Black Gryph0n's video list ... or was it Michelle's ... it was one of them. It is a pretty funny parody song and it was great to see some of the cast and even a lot of 'well known' bronies taking a part in the video. Bout lost it when Andrea started voicing Pinkie in the song. Also, Saber is spinning a phone ... wtf?

It's nice to see collaborations like this where the cast and the fandom come together. Kind of surprised that Tara didn't have a bigger part in this video.

Alternatively he could get a wind screen so that breathing wouldn't be picked up but that's only if you'd be more comfortable talking closer into the mic. I actually found a pretty good DIY wind screen tutorial on YouTube. I've got an old Guitar Hero mic I might use this tutorial for (if I ever decide to start recording stuff).

But yes, your levels should be fine if you just stay back a bit from the mic.

So I've been seeing complaints occasionally about how difficult it is for users keep up with all the name changes. I propose an additional user field be made to display in the postbit for users to display their default usernames. It wouldn't take much to add and there's no custom coding involved, it's just adding another field.

I'd find this useful as I change my name and themes a lot. This way everyone knows it's Madame Snow Queen Nights posting and not some strange Premium member who just showed up out of the blue.

I doubt it would create anymore queries on the site than it would uploading. I don't use Gravatar because I like to change my avatars so much. I see no problem in at least having the option available. I vote yes.

I meant to say if it's seen. I personally won't approach anyone who's bleeding unless I absolutely have to for some reason or another. I understand how much physical contact I make with others in a general day. That's why after using the bathroom and washing my hands I dry them and use the paper towel to grab the door handle. When dealing with cashiers I typically lay my money on the counter and let them drop the change in my hands. I tend to stay away from crowds, if at all possible.

But my general point was the risk this might be causing, which yes it would affect others aside from medical physicians (i.e. the workplace). It's not that I'm queasy when it comes to blood it's just so unsanitary. I've seen blood before, I lost plenty one time as a child, that doesn't bother me. I'm okay with my blood, it's other peoples blood I'm weary of. That's mostly due to paranoia but some of it is actually justified.

That's good. Walk towards the light.
    *whispers*
Wait ... Don't go towards the light! Move away from the light, preferably in the opposite direction.
