I don't think that 1000 characters is that unreadonable a limit. The point of the mod is to make people have to work for their posts. The lower we set the bar, the less so that will be.

Well, I'd say that 200 words would be a reasonable minimum.

And in a typical RP post (not a good day, but not a bad day either), I typically cap off with twice what you just quoted. It really just depends what I'm given to respond to. I really don't see 300 words as all that much to ask (I'd go no lower than 200 words though). I mean, if we're gonna have to work for a post count, then why not work for a post count?

I think there's actually a pretty logical way to look at the situation, even if it wasn't the intended logic that was meant for it.

    • Radiant Garden/Hallow Bastian, based on what's seen of its design, was/is a pretty big world.
    • It could be implied that the world had/has a rather large population.
    • Quite certainly, it has a massive castle, which requires loads of resources to maintain and operate.
    • These factors, assuming they're reasonable enough to be taken as truth, would mean that the world would have to have an enormous supply of water; it is implied, by the sidequest in DI in the first game that people in the KHVerse still need drinking water in order to survive.
    • And of course, given the fact that Heartless/Darkness in the KHVerse is pretty much bred for consumption and destruction, it's not so far fetched to reason that the attack of the Heartless could have caused a great flood, at least across the town itself.

    • The Restoration Committee probably has more than just a few people. Even if it's not mentioned or referenced in the games, odds are that people in HB/RG were pitching in to help.
    • It's probably little challenge for one like Merlin, especially with help, to fix something like a flood.

There was only so much of the castle that was needed in the first game. It might have even been that the entrance to the castle in the second game was another part of the castle that was inaccessible/nonexistent in the first game (since it wasn't really necessary).

What should count would depend, first, off of what the mod would be tracking in determining what posts should be counted or not. I mean, if we're talking word count in a post, I'd say that a post with 300 words would suffice as a minimum; maybe even 400 or 500, if that could be proved a stable possibility. As Lilbueno just stated, that really long one was a "special occasion" post (I'd imagine it happened in an emotional high point in the RP, and in his creativity). Were this mod applied, it would be a bit of a mean taunt to tell people that they had to jump the 1000 word bar (or something really high like that) to have their posts counted. That would almost certainly lead to an automatic segregation of people who can push their posts that far deviating into their own RPs so that they can reach that bar with ease.

And are you representing your side of the argument any better now by pouting about how it's looking like people will finally say "yes" to RP posts counting? I've seen quite a few of the old threads on this subject. And it seems to me that most of the RPers took the "no" in graceful defeat, and in some cases, RPers even voted against having their posts here counted.

Typically, a power play refers to forcing an act DIRECTLY onto another person's character(s). Taking the money and burning it would be alright, unless there was some agreement in the RP that the money was to be treated in some similar fashion to a legitimate character. The way it seemed, everyone had stake in the money, and it was just sitting there. Technically, it's not against the rules. Though I'd be a bit annoyed that player B carried out such actions as though C and A wouldn't have noticed, I'd get over it; after all, C and A are involved with something rather intense. All in all, I don't see anything wrong with that.

As for Player C running off form Player A, I don't see the power play in that. Player A had never pulled the gun out, and never shot them. To run off on someone like that doesn't constitute a power play. All they really did was delay an event.

Hopefully that prologue works for the better.

I've been RPing for some time around many different forum communities (most of them based around Kingdom Hearts, like this site). And in most of those communities, the RPing was held within a similar regard to any creative writing. After all, we are creating a story with the things we post in RPs. I believe in this ideal, that RPing should hold itself to a similar creative caliber to any prose or poetry. I believe that those who role play with the mindset of putting out something creative, unique, and driving, should be allowed to have their efforts rewarded in one way or another. And in a forum setting like this, I feel it's only fair to allow that reward to be tacking another post onto one's count.

I don't believe it would be a single out for things to be separated into "Light RPing" and "Serious RPing." I think that if we could divvy the RP section out into an offshoot of a creative writing section, it would only serve to instill within people that effort in creativity is what will be rewarded. Even just saying that posts count might be enough to get those that are "lacking" by creative standards to pull their minds higher on the ladder. It's the psychology of it, I think; people won't put as much effort into something if there's no discernible/tangible reward or prize for it.

So in short, I'll say yes. In one way or another, RP posts should start counting. If nothing else, I think it would be great so see something of an "RP" showcase in the RP Arena, where completed (and maybe even select incomplete ones if seen as worthy attempts) RPs could be moved and counted towards their participants' post counts.

EDIT: Now that I think of it, that plug-in sounds like a really good idea. With that, the section could operate the same as it has been while still allowing those who really go for it the pleasure of seeing their posts count.

You mean like, showing at time it is/was for the user whose profile is being viewed? I can see how something like that could be a social convenience.

I just don't see what's so interesting about it at this point. We've pretty much come to the consensus that there was plenty of water there to flood a large area of HB/RG. And considering that the world became a Heartless hoptspot, it's pretty easy to conclude that it got flooded because the Heartless messed things up. There are some things that just don't have loads of meaning. And quite honestly, this is one of them, I would say. None of this really constitutes plot holes, because all the pieces to the puzzle are already on the table.

I honestly don't think too much about those controversial bits. At the most extreme, they're there because someone on the animation staff decided they wanted to spite the big guys on time. Other times, I'd wager that it winds up being an unintentional insert, a coincidence that it would be found there. Psychology has shown that people can do things without being consciously aware that they are in fact doing them.

Overall, I'd have to say not too shabby. There were some spots where the rhythm got distorted, which was most obvious to me at the very beginning, and then a few spots throughout. It seemed more like hesitation and nerves on your part though, as opposed to not really knowing the part. Also, I'd have to say that the dynamic contrast could have been wider. You seemed to have hung out at the middle ranges through the piece. If you ever return to this piece as a performer, take the time to put some more contrast, and really exaggerate the extremes. And of course, and this will come with practice and experience, really just go for the performance. Get into the music more. Even just a bit of body language where possible can really amplify a performance.

I'm pretty sure that people are over-analyzing this entire thing. Is it that hard to just say that it was all for the purpose of effect and atmosphere for the world?

But on that strand, it took Sora, rejoined with Roxas, plus Riku to defeat Xemnas (seeing as we're talking about in the game).

YUP. It's not worth the time to try and figure out why things changed so drastically. And in any case, it can be rationalized in relation to the game as being that the infestation of Heartless could have easily caused natural calamities such as floods; based on the existence of the Rising Falls in KH1, it's safe to assume that there WAS plenty of water to draw from, enough to flood a fair portion of the world. We don't question how entire worlds can be swallowed by the little buggers. So why bother trying to reason that they shouldn't be able to bring about flood waters?

That's just the way they did things between games for the sake of dramatic effect. It was dramatically effective as a penultimate world under its KH1 design. And likewise, in KH2, it's new design was dramatically effective for it's function as the nexus point for major plot events and return journeys (though it also shared that status with Twilight Town just a little bit).

Came through my neck of the woods CT earlier today. It certainly died down from what I understood it to be from the radio reports and weather channel updates. Really, the only thing that was somewhat out of the norm was how much rain it brought along with it when it came through. The wind and the rest of the storm were actually pretty much what I've grown accustomed to in this part of the country. No worse than most other storms I've seen. It might have also helped that I slept through most of it. Though I must admit, I was more concerned when my town was put under a tornado warning back in 2010.

Even if damage hasn't been all too significant, this has still been a pretty big benchmark, when it's considered how much was done to prepare for it (I mean, all of NYC being pretty much shut down was incredible in and of itself).
