Well having experienced zero spoilers whatsoever I can't comment on that at all; I was just saying what I interpreted as the intention. I absolutely feel that experimentation jeopardized the quality of the end result; that's natural when you're trying something new (not even necessarily in a 'never done before' sense so much as a 'I've personally never done it before so I don't know how to do it correctly' one). All my initial post meant to say was that whether or not that end result paid off seems to vary a lot from person to person, and that I felt if story and gameplay were more balanced it might not be so love-it-or-hate-it. Some people are going to enjoy it and some won't; if you look at critic aggregates that holds true, right?
I would argue that the first KH a.) can be kinda frustrating & b.) hasn't aged 100% well, lol. That camera. It's also written poorly if you ask me (mostly from a script point of view) which adds endearing/cheese value but isn't for everyone :v. It's a shame that causes it to be overlooked because it has some genuinely atmospheric moments in there, ex. the Dive to the Heart is a really reaaaally nicely done opening sequence imo. It's somewhere between eerie and magical for me. It doesn't suck and it kind of sounds like he didn't give it a fair shot lol or play it at all but it might also be ill-suited to him. Kinda jerky for him to have brought it up with the express purpose of trashing it though.
Oh sorry, I didn't mean about the interaction being meaningful, I meant the experience overall. I agree it could have been a film, but the creator decided otherwise, perhaps precisely because he wanted that limited interaction element. As for it affecting one's enjoyment, I'd have to once again argue that's subjective. The fun in the experience is intended to be the story here, not slashing or shooting. It hand-holds you to an extreme and I'm not a huge fan of that myself, but some people might be okay with that considering everything else. The reviews seem to indicate that so far; they're all over the map.
http://www.gamespot.com/beyond-two-souls/reviews/beyond-two-souls-review-6415416/ This game seems kind of polarizing because it's very focused on storytelling and not so much on a deep gameplay experience. I don't think there's anything wrong with that necessarily, just that it's not for everyone, in the same way games on the other end of the spectrum might not be lol. A little more balance would have done it well, I think :v. But I kind of get the impression that the creator(s) were less concerned with review scores than building a unique or memorable experience (whether or not it ends up being such is of course entirely subjective).
inb4 star trek fans get all bent out of shape that was a joke plz don't hurt me As a Trekkie I sort of separate the movies from the television series and enjoy them on that level. I rather liked Into Darkness. Do yourself a favor though and see Wrath of Khan, too c: .

Apparently some Genesis games can save, but Ecco isn't one of them. It uses a password system, so whenever you complete a level, copy down the...

Already addressed as noted; thank you though! Closed.
Pretty sure most of us were saying the pledge before we even knew what indivisible meant. :L Or even that the U.S. was a republic; I still remember being taught in elementary that the United States was a democratic republic and the teacher used the pledge to emphasize, and the class was all, "ohhhh, that's what we were saying..." It's kind of an ABCs effect, "L M N O P" becomes this slur of meaningless gibberish when sung repeatedly.
Oh yeah I'm not arguing that, I'm just saying I like the... timbre? Of the sounds it produced. It's very distinct. It has this really... Tinny/electronic sound whereas whenever I think of the SNES I think mostly of... Er, brass? (not knocking that theme at all, it's my favorite theme from the game lol). Not to say SNES music couldn't be diverse, just what comes to mind for me hah. The Genesis' chip is technically inferior hands down but yeah, some really good, memorable music was produced with it. As you said, comes down to the compositions. also that NES theme is really rad
When I was in third grade my mom rented Defender of the Future for me (the Dreamcast/PS2 sequel). I only had it for a day or two but for whatever reason I always remembered playing it haha, even though I mostly just swam around aimlessly. Years later I tried the original aaaand to this day I have not gotten past the first stage, I still give it a (brief) go occasionally. I play with a keyboard so that's probably part of the issue. ****'s hard. I adore the music! People knock the Genesis sound chip a lot but I really like its sort of unique gritty sound, I dunno. And Ecco's soundtrack is a perfect fit; it's so atmospheric. I'd like to play it properly someday.
