Yep!!! Hey, how's it going? :D
Also, the reason why people were chanting: "Yes we can!" Is because 43 years ago, only whites could vote. African Americans DREAMED of being able to vote. They probably never thought of a day where they could see an African American president. Martin Luther King Jr.'s dream was to have everyone equal. This is part of that dream to many people, white black or purple. I agree with Repliku, it didn't come down to race. Jessie Jackson proved it the god-knows how many times he ran and lost in the primaries. He had something John McCain had, and they made mistakes, so did McCain. Just so many people were worried about the major factors and saw McCain too much like Bush to vote for him.
Yeah, and the rich will save that money that they have or spend it on themselves. No thank you, I've seen enough with that from Bush. Anyway... I say that he'll change some things, but not all. Too much damage done. But with a Democrat Congress, anything can happen.
Actually, he mostly won for everything but race. He did everything right, he stumbled, but he picked himself up and dusted himself off and kept on going. McCain did the opposite in a lot of cases, he just kept on changing tactics that he thought he would win. He made massive mistakes, Palin was one of many. It wasn't race, it was he brought his message across better than anyone. Also, I'm glad Obama won. Granted, McCain did well and a great conceding speech, I'm proud that we picked him as president. Lets not worry about assassination, right now lets look at the historical significance that over 40 years ago wouldn't have been thought of.
Well, Obama's still ahead in the polls. I just hope that it doesn't turn into another recount. Even Bush's brother, which is part of the reason he didn't make governer next running said: "Who am I going to pick? My brother or someone else?" Please don't let it be a recount.
They're already doing the same thing, Daxma. It was on the news. At least some of them. It wouldn't have done a stock market crash, it would've severely hurt our economy, but it wouldn't be a crash. The government had a ton of options other than this, this was the "quick fix." The whole thing angers me the fact that people are unwilling to help people who are in poverty but are willing to give nearly three-quarters of a trillion dollars to the banks for messing up without any real punishment or enforcement to make sure it doesn't happen again.
I would have been a bit more agreeable to the bailout if they added some more conditions to it. They basically were saying that it was going to be like this: "You screwed up, here's a bunch of money to help you recover." Yeah, that's how life works for everyone. If you declare a civil bankruptcy, you are forced to have a budget list, every penny you spend is recorded on a sheet of paper for the next court meeting. Ifeee they said: "You screwed up, this money is specifically going to people in the crisis, your bank in the crisis, or a company that needs a loan to keep it's company going, and we want every penny, nickel and dime written down and receipted, or we'll do an investigation if we even think you did otherwise and shut down your bank until it's over." That's what should've happened, cruel and unfair, but they shoved us into this hole, they spent all this money on things they wanted to spend it on, cars, clothes, trips to Bermuda. Dividends, which some of the bailout money they did get is going right back to their investors and not towards the people who need it. Not all, but at least a few banks. Moral lesson here: If you want frigging support for a bill, stop scaring the daylights out of the country and put some backbone and teeth into it instead.
I said it before, and I'll say it again: When you're at this stage, you need government help. Obama isn't F.D.R., but he's offering a ton of solutions that F.D.R. offered. Note: This was the early days of communism, the days when people were paranoid about what a government can do to it to make it more controlling. We're on our way to a depression, warning signs are all over the place, the stock market has faced it's worst days it's ever had, even worse than the crash in 29 that was one of the alarm bells for the Great Depression. And I should point out, BUSH gave tax breaks in the same way McCain is, it didn't help at all. The rich save the money and don't use it to stimulate the economy. It caused us to go deeper into the funk that we're in right now. Also, for Evil, Poor is under $19,000. That's the poverty line if I remember correctly. I think they also said that it hasn't been adjusted in like 30 years for inflation. Charming to think about, eh? That includes welfare and other things, also.
Very extreme point of view there, Ampex. And to point out, the top 5% of our country is NOT middle class. People who work at pizza parlors half their lives and/or are starting college AREN'T going to be affected by the tax policy. It's 250,000 dollars a year and up. That's not middle class, that's the high rich. Doctor's, lawyers and other people who have high-end jobs. His plan is to have the rich pay for the poor needs. Oh yeah, my family is piss poor, and we work our asses off. I'm on government health care because my dad was fired from his sales job because of lack of money, if I get off it, I die. I have cancer that won't miraculously get healed if they cut my funding, which they're about to do because some people are complaining about an extra twenty-five cents on soda that causes diabetes. Yes, I'm pissed at Bush and the republicans and the war. All the spending we had on that war could've helped hundreds and thousands of people in the same situation as I am. He isn't responsible for all of it, but he ran this country for eight years, when we had a strong and flourishing economy into this. My parents can't afford to heat us this winter, amongst hundreds of families who are in the same boat. All those people aren't lazy, they just can't afford what they desperately need. Sorry for the rant, but I don't like being called lazy, nor my family. Also, we were about to hand over the same amount to the banks, that you're predicting. 800 billion dollars worth. No questions asked, no restrictions or investigations on spending of money or nothing... So you think 800 billion dollars going to help people that really need it should go to the banks instead who are already spending it on rewards to their brokers that was given to them?
This is not the same circumstances, evil. When the Great Depression hit, it was way beyond what the late 1980's were like. We had a whole restructuring of the government then, people are already getting reports that this is starting to look like the same thing, you need change if that's going to happen.
That's just fairy tales that the right (or left, forgot which one is conservative) made up. My aunt who's a bible-belt, 250,000 dollar earner who cringes at the thought of giving one more penny to the government thinks that Satan will come if Obama is elected. I don't know about McCain, he likes to talk about the "old-fashioned" days, which worry both me and my mom because they don't seem to work right now. Evil, they hate us for a lot of reasons, think about it this way: Americans are considered one of the most selfish people on the planet in other countries. We don't help with the AIDS epidemic though we have a drug that helps it, we don't help people in Africa, we spend god-knows how much on ourselves, even food and other things we have people can barely get. We don't help anyone in a lot of cases, Iraq if it was something to make us look "helpful" destroyed our reputation by looking like greedy selfish *******s. There's a million reasons why the people in Africa and other countries celebrated when those planes crashed. Think about it, anyone... And you'll start to see why.
I think it was the 1960's or seventies, during the red scare. We actually pissed them off also for walking across their sacred ground, they didn't like that. They basically considered it holy for thousands of years or something during that same time period.
People need to realize: IRAQ DIDN'T CAUSE 9/11!!!!! Do the frigging math!!! TWO years later we attacked Iraq, Afghanistan did 9/11, even admitted it. Iraq hates us, I do note that, they have for a long time. So have every other frigging country there. Only Isreal we have somewhat good connections with because we help them and it pisses off the Middle East who want the Jews in Isreal out. Ironically enough, we started the whole terrorist thing ourselves to where it is today. We gave them weapons, and we gave them terrorist schools. We basically brainwashed the people in the school's the "American" way, and the terrorists simply took it over after we left to brainwash them to blow things up as suicide bombers. We wanted the Soviet Union gone when that was going on. I have a question for all of you, yes, off-topic. Ten, fifteen years after we leave, after we drive out the "terrorists" like we did to the Soviet Union... What's going to happen then? We can't be vigilanties to the whole world forever while our country suffers like it's doing. Iraq shouldn't be going on while our economy is this bad, we need to withdraw for that sake alone. The money spent on the Iraq war could help pay for someone's cancer treatment or save a chid's life most likely every week or even less. I'm on a government health care program that is being cut every day. I have cancer and god-know what else right now going through because I can't afford a job and health care at the same time. For me and many like me, the war could kill us because of what supports us. Obama is the one who at least has a laid out plan for it. EDIT: Apologies for rant.
It might be, but those roadside bombs are happening for something. Another note, Bush is getting more and more defensive about the war, has anyone asked why? No one else seems to get as defensive as he is. EDIT: Evil, considering this is an election year, he's going to say and do that. His terms are done, but he wants McCain in the White House, same with the oil prices dropping. They're going to do stuff that would make their party look good right now, including trying to reverse all the bad stuff that happened.
I want to point out something downright disturbing in that worldwide poll: Only ONE!!! NOTE: ONE!!! Country wanted McCain, and that was Iraq. There were some who were leaning McCain in Africa, but only Iraq in the whole frigging world wants McCain. Let me explain something here. If you're in Iraq and your whole village gets slaughtered by American soldiers, *yes, it has happened, not including god knows what else* In most cases, the surviving families want revenge. The boost for terrorist recruits has exploded through the roof since this war started. Iraq wants us to stay because we will give them more recruits. I'm fed up with the comments, and I quote here: "We'll get another 9/11 and another dictator if we don't stay and save Iraq." We're causing another 9/11 right now, it's a ticking time bomb because so many people are pissed off at us there, yes, some people like us, but the more you cause damage, the less they will. 9/11 was in 2001. Iraq was two years later after we fought in Afghanistan. With no Weapons of Mass Destruction and no support. It has caused more damage that is imaginable. You don't want another 9/11? I don't either, stop supporting Iraq. And stop saying it's the pride of the country at stake, people hate us, people danced in the street when those planes hit that day and we've been going downhill ever since. Obama I see is the one who at least the world would give us some support. That is my rant.
