The file is now there, still empty (but this one was generated by the extractor) and it's still giving me the error.
Bit of a problem. I ran the program and it said that it was missing a file. "imgextract.log" After making that file (a blank text file renamed .log instead of .txt), it gives me the prompt to type something. After typing "menu/sysfont.bin" (with or without quotes, same result), it says "Filename not found or Bad number format! Please enter either in decimal <1337> or hex BEEFC0DE> or a filename <al.wdt>!" Long story short, it no work ;~; Then again I might just be a massive idiot.
Many thanks!~TF2 Heavy voice
Not to sound like an idiot, but how would I put the sysfont file back into the iso? Explain it to me like I'm a child.
I'm not really "working on it". Just fixing some things I don't like.
Nice. If you were ever curious as to what I was doing with those tools you sent me, this is part of it. Fixing the capitalization of enemy names, weapons, a few item descriptions, minor text strings, and I'm going to, when I can, see if I can make some of the cutscenes a little less wonky.
Well, regardless of the reason, his voice is still, after 10 years, *THE* voice of Ansem, at least for me.
Well, the only alternatives are to leave it, which would look weird, or to squish the letters so they fit.
The original font should work fine. If anything it's ideal. :D I'm not sure what symbols we could need added. It's nice to have the option to at least. This is fantastic news.
I posted it 3 times on accident because I have to use my 3ds when my boyfriend is on the computer and after I press the 'submit reply' button the 3ds doesn't reload the page to see that the post had been made.
What about the command menu? Is it hashed in every room or something? Or journal entries/passive abilities like Scan? I'm very interested.[DOUBLEPOST=1366042940][/DOUBLEPOST]What about the command menu? Is it hashed in every room or something? Or journal entries/passive abilities like Scan? I know it's a bit off topic but I'm glad, Wheel of Time, that you posted. I've seen you reading the thread many times and was starting to wonder when you'd join the conversation. And yes, I will still be translating the game whenever a working tool gets made. I'm happy to do it.
Here's hoping. :\ I'm looking forward to the translating. Time consuming but worth it.
Don't stress yourself out doing this. I appreciate the effort.
Dude. Programming a tool takes time. Be. Patient.
Only sort of right. You see, using the hex editor, I've only been able to translate very little in comparison to what is actually in the game. Gummi ship parts and journal entry names, a few menu options.... All of them are in caps due to the limited character set in the game by default. Things like cutscenes subtitles, status-screen names, the in-game command menu (Attack, Magic, Items, 4th option), abilities AND items aren't able to be translated with the hex editor alone. I've tried and they're simply not showing up on their own. Something else like an extractor has to be used, and they have to be re-inserted ALONG WITH a new character set that supports lower-case English letters. I've recently been given some files that allows me to update/change some text in KH2:FM, but I still have to work with whatever limits Xeeynamo set when he first translated the game. I changed how some of the items are described, for example. The main thing I'd want to do with KH2:FM would be to removed Terra's/Lingering Sentiment's cape by editing it's texture to make it transparent; the effect of it not being there without messing with the model directly. However that is probably better suited for a PM, since we're talking about KH1:FM and not KH2. I'll look on that page later once I have some more time. I have to give the computer back to my boyfriend now. lol All this being said, I really want to be able to have this translated before the ReMix English release date; meaning December I think it is. If I can get access to the files to translate them, and a way to reinsert them into the game, I'll do all the text editing myself (obviously starting with the menu and abilities/items/command menu, THEN the cutscenes). I just need the tools to do so.
No, I haven't heard back from him yet.
Be my guest.
I contacted KeytoTruth the other day and I'm waiting for him to get back to me. He said he'd try to do some of the file extraction so that I can edit the encrypted text too. EDIT: A few days have passed and nothing new has been said so far. However, if he's writing new programs to do this, it's understandable.
I'm not sure, honestly. My guess would be around the 15 or so mark. Anything more than that would be optional bosses (who? idk), Heartless/Nobody bosses (they didn't just disappear) and maybe another round with Maleficent. I really don't like how she got shafted in Re:Coded and KH 3D.
