Abrams' Star Trek is Star Trek for people who are not fans of Star Trek.

I do not know why this should be such a surprise. I "come back" on a weekly basis. Appreciate the enthusiastic welcoming, though. Anyways, more on point -- I found out my mother loves Hitchcock, smoked weed at some point, and is a trekkie. Interrogate thine parents, uncover hidden hobbies, secrets and/or talents. You'd be surprised.

Slightly off-topic, but it's rumored that the twins are going to be depicted as British rather than Eastern European. In other words: they're going to whitewash the twins. If this is indeed the case, I shall be highly disappointed. This is a rant best saved for another thread, though... (Avengers 2) I am excited for the S.H.I.E.L.D. series as well.
Checking other online retailers. Prices range from $36-93. Out of print, I presume. The price I can deal with, the delivery time on the other hand...
Does anyone have an explanation for this? Check out the estimated delivery time. It's ridiculous. I'm not even going to be here by the time it should arrive. I will be an ocean's length away by then. And the price? I expect the pages to be lined with gold.
I have conflicted feelings regarding this movie. On the one hand, nu!Trek revived the fandom; breathed fresh air into it, so to speak. On the other hand, J.J. Abrams is not above twisting canon to suit his whims. This can be understandably annoying to longtime fans. It's an alternate universe. It does not reflect Roddenberry's canonical material. Keep the foregoing in mind, and I suppose it's alright. Not my cup of tea perhaps, but I won't condemn those who like it. Anyways, trekkies need not worry any further. Abrams has reunited with his long- lost love, Star Wars. If his brew hast nauseated you, rejoice! It's doubtful that he'll continue on with Star Trek after this.

I read it when I was ten years old, awful long time ago. My parents allowed me to pick any book at the airport, because we had a long plane ride ahead of us. The ending took me by surprise as well. I have heard that the film is not a faithful adaption...? But I haven't seen the film, and like I said -- it's been awhile since I've read the book, and I would probably better appreciate it a second time through. I do not trust that I remember it very well. Book was sad. Worth your time, I think.

ROAR ~ I'M NOT HERE TO MAKE FRIENDS When people enter this world, they are tender; they wear their hearts on their sleeves. Eventually they grow up. As they grow older, they are exposed to society's general ills. Loss of innocence inevitably follows. Tired sheep. Docility is a defense mechanism. I'm too tired for this
