I think Iran is taking itself too seriously. One missle isn't going to make a difference. I mean, if they all failed, then that's worth at least some fibbing, but even then there's no point in doctoring an image.

Meh. Good for them. I don't really care. I don't follow the whole Anonymous vs. Scientology thing.

Wow. Exspansive, to say the least. I like how child-like it is (not to say your friend is a bad artist, that's just how it looks).

Well. That was...interesting, to say the least.

    Very interesting family.

Yeah. Heck, I'm a Catholic Democrat. Personally, I think Bush was planning the war all along, and when the CIA told him the possibility of an attack, he saw the perfect opportunity. 9/11 was his blank check to start the war.

And really, what's the point of parties? They just distract us from the real issue: keeping the power with the people.

Jose comes from Joseph, and I think a more literal translation of Joseph (and therefore Jose) would be "He shall add". My brother's name is Joseph, which is how I know.

Oh, I didn't mean liberal as in the specific philosophy. By liberal democracy, I meant one where the government is regulated by law. I didn't mean that an illiberal democracy is a conservative democracy. An illiberal democracy is one whre the constitution is ignored or it doesn't exist. (And that would be bad for Americans.)

I'd have to view many members of Bush's administration as power players. I feel that through the passing of the PATRIOT Act, the currently debated Violent Radicalization & Homegrown Terrorism Prevention Act of 2007 (which would basically allow the gov't to arrest you for handing someone a Bible on a streetcorner), and now this bill, the government is excercising more power than they constitutionally have. They also seem to be focusing on attaining more control through the illusion of preserving our "safety", and not focusing on helping people (i.e., slow response to Katrina).

Look at this bill, though. It gives the Feds the power to circumvent the 4th Amendment. Although Darkwatch was kidding, if the government can do this, what's to stop them (besides us) from overriding the entire Constitution?

I understand that you will not be moved; I simply meant that we are no longer exactly "at each other's throats", as they say.

*Polka Dot*, they're not trying to change the Constitution/Bill of Rights, they're trying to destroy it. They want all the power for themselves (an unfortunate aspect of today's "power player" politicians.)

We are currently in what is called a liberal democracy (government is regulated by law and a constitution). I don't want it to become illiberal.

You did call me ignorant, but that was at a much earlier post.

Glad we were able to work this out peacefully.

You're probably right. I apologize. I still feel, however, that while you told me to "get off my high horse", several of your most recent comments appear somewhat...overconfident, shall we say. As in, calling Repliku's post ignorant.

That was the most amazing post I have ever read. I completely agree with you. I'm also glad that someone else has the grey matter to realize that Bush should never have been elected in the first place.

Everyone can do something. Write your congressman, join a rally, make a website, spread the word, anything.

And why should you not care? We're going to inherit this ****ed-up world from our forefathers. We ought to do something while we can.

Regardless, he intends to sign a bill that would essentially destroy any hope of retaing our personal freedoms, and I fail to see the logic in that.

Man, people like you really piss me off. Bush is an idiot; he can't speak in public, much less lead a war. He supported the suspension of habeas corpus and, while you are correct that Democrats are behind this too, he supports a bill that will kill the Fourth Amendment and pave the way for other violations of freedoms. Don't tell me how blind I am; my eyes are far less clouded than the rest of America.

By the way, I don't support illegals; I don't believe they should be in this country, much less telling us to learn their language. That's one thing you are right about.
